South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hi All, I'm on Day 9 of Phase I and I've lost a whopping 10lbs. Im so thrilled. I even get a new clippie because I went from a total loss of 14lbs over all to 16lbs overall (6 lost prior to SBD) So yay to my new 15lb clippie. In January I weighed 198lbs and now I'm at 182, im hoping to lose another 8 - 10 lbs in the next 24 days, because I want to be 173 in WDW. That will be a total loss of 25lbs since January 1st :)

Thanks Sheree for the banana dance and congrats on maintaining! :cheer2: In a way I think that's even harder than the initial weight loss!

This week I'm down 4.4 lbs for a total of 13.3 on SB. I had lost 2.3 before starting so I've lost 15.6. I went to shopping this weekend for a pair of jean capris and I bought a smaller size! :cool1: They are really tight but I could actually get them on and sit down in them. I am really happy about that! :cloud9:

Tink, welcome. You are doing great so far :bounce: :bounce: . How wonderful for you losses in such a short time. Come back here often and keep us updated on your progress!

wdw4life, you are most welcome. I know what encouragemet can do to help motivate us. You also are doing so wonderful. Congrats on the new clippie :cheer2:

Hi everyone!!

Congrats to all the losers!

Lisa, I would start Phase 1 again. I wish you great success. I know it is discouraging when you don't see results right away.

I am down 2.5 this week. I have lost a total of 12lbs since I started. I will be celebrating my birthday this week, but I don't plan on going crazy. I am hoping to be down at least 30 more pounds before I go to WDW in December.

I hope everyone has a great week!! :cheer2:

Michele, wow. You are doing great too. I'm loving hearing all the good news reports!!!! Keep up the good work. BTW, make a low carb cheese cake or something for your birthday, it is possible to do a treat and not mess up all your work :thewave:

Hey all. I am doing well. Not weighing because its that time of the month so it wouldn't be accurate, but I am continuing on Phase 1. This makes the first day of week 2 for my Mom and I, she is doing great. Her skirt nearly fell off of her the other day. She weighed today, didn't tell me and I didn't ask, but she wants to start counting her loss from today. She is hoping for 30 lbs off total, but we are really trying for 20 off prior to the end of June (our trip to WDW). I am so proud of her. She was sooooo sick of eggs this morning so I made her mock french toast. She loved it! I have a big bowl of South Beach Unpotato Salad in the refrigerator, along with veggies for snacks. You can really see a difference in her. I am making decaf ice tea in my Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Pot (love that thing) with Splenda and lemon. That is really helping her out, she drinks lots of water but it gets so boring, as we all know. I made a crustless lemon pie from the Kraft Foods South Beach website. We haven't tried it yet, but I will tell you how it turns out. I hope its good because I LOVE lemon. Anyway, we are on target so far, I am hoping she gets some more weight off this week, my guess is she lost at least 5 lbs because it is very noticeable. I am unsure if I lost but I am sure I at least maintained. I will weigh at the weeks end.
To those who have had a cheat day during Phase 1, I have done Phase 1 many times, and cheated the first few times. I didn't start over completely, I just did it for 3 weeks instead of just 2. IF you cheated several days, then I would start over.
Anyway, doing a happy dance here  and looking forward to my lemon pie!
OH, almost forgot. I got a new propane grill for my anniversary and used it for the first time the other night. In addition to steaks (so good) and unpotato salad, I made roasted red and yellow peppers. OH, what heaven!!! They were so easy but I loved them. I had some today cold! I just rubbed them with olive oil and cooked them while I made my steaks. Yummy! I can't wait until next week to put some on a whole wheat pizza crust!!! :cool1: Man, I love food!!!
Oh, and the new GT Express Grill they advertise on TV, the sandwich maker, it so great for South Beach. I make eggs in it by just cracking an egg, an topping with a little cheese and bacon. I drizzle some fat free half and half and it cooks up awesome.
Another egg suggestion for Phase 1 is to crack eggs into a glass dish (size depends on how many eggs, I use a square one) and top with either salsa and cheese OR cheese, chopped tomato, basil, and crumbled bacon or sausage. Drizzle either combo with a little fat free half and half and it bakes up into a delicous breakfast quiche without a crust type thing. Very yummy!
Despite all my efforts to jazz up breakfast, my mom is really craving some oatmeal next week! :rotfl:

Melissa, that's the way to do it. Keep up changing the menu and it will definately make it easier to stick to the plan. I make a great cheesecake using almond flour that is a great dessert especially with those davinci syrups.

The lemon pie was good but I have decided next week to make up a crust with crushed pecans and put it in the bottom of cupcake papers, then layer in the lemon, then sliced strawberries, then more of the lemon filling. I'll top it with a strawberry slice and Poof! The perfect snack size treat for phase 2, with a little crunch.
Sheree, I would love to try the cheesecake recipe. Where to you find almond flour??

most healthfoods stores carry almond flour. you can also buy it online. It makes a great crust. Plus I've made an almond flour pound cake which is to die for. Almond muffins and lets not foget those receipes made from flaxseed meal!!! I know you can also find the pecans and other nuts already ground up in bags that should be kept in the fridge or freezer.

Thanks Sheree. Oh, and to everyone with a stalled scale. I have been very good but my scale has been sluggish. Today I was down 1 pound BUT, I measured and I have lost 8 inches!!!! That means, since I started back on South Beach at the end of January , I have lost 22 inches!!! Now that's something. I am so excited to get my final 10 off. I hate when the scale doesn't move so measuring is essential for me to stay motivated. And, I am comforted that my scale is no longer flucuating by one or two pounds. It is staying the same, or like today, finally going back down.
You gotta love South Beach!!! Eating good, feeling great! I will be ready for Summer this year for sure!!!
Keep it up everyone! :cheer2:

Melissa, great work. It is so important to count everything while you are losing weight. Those inches will put you in a smaller size and you will look GREAT!

Hello all. I'm just checking in. I hope everyone is doing well and that everyone is still enjoing some loss of some kind!!!

Hi all.

Just checking in. Everything is going well here. I am MC tonight at the appriciation banquet at church. I am also doing the devotions. Even though I teach and speak in front of people for a living, I'm still a little nervious.

It was great hearing how everyone is doing. My weight loss has slowed down but it is going down again. At this point going slow is OK. I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of anything. The one thing I think I need to do is step up my exercise again. Right after easter when the new quarter started I needed to start getting up an hour earlier than I had last quarter. When you combine that with the time change, I'm getting up 2 hours earlier than I was a little over a month ago. I'm still not complete back into a routine that includes as much exercise as I would like.

Good luck at the banquet tonight Jeremy - hope all goes well !

Thanks Sandy, Everything went as well as could be expected last night. Didn't get too nervious once I got up there. Made a couple of blunders but nothing major. Everybody had a great time and I received a lot of complements today.

I think I'm loving this diet, or should I say "way of eating"!

I'm really not having a lot of trouble sticking to it at all. I've lost 6 lbs in Phase 1 and 1 lb. in Phase 2.

Only thing I'm wondering....approximately how many pounds do you think need to come off before its actually noticeable? I have lost just one inch around my middle which is really my most troublesome area -- truly I look 5 months pregnant :-( I know I'll most likely always have a "pot" belly, but sure would like it to be a lot less noticeable.

Kris

My mother is down 13 lbs from her 2 weeks on Phase 1. Tomorrow we begin Phase 2 and she is going to start doing Pilates with me. I am soooooo excited for her I just can't tell ya! She is getting compliments from people who are noticing her loss. I am sure at this rate, with the excercise and her awesome attitude, we can have at least 10 more lbs off before our Disney World trip the end of June. Its awesome to see her having such success and feeling so good about herself. She got into a pair of jeans she didn't think she could ever wear!!! Her face was priceless !!

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I am finding that the combo of South Beach and Pilates does wonders for flattening your tummy. I have had 4 kids and I have almost lost my remaining tummy bulge (the lower area) that I never thought I would be rid of. I may have a true 6 pack before I know it! I nearly have a 4 pack now. :rotfl:

Jeremy, I'm glad you event went well!

Kris, 6 pounds is great. I'm glad that it is going well for you. As far as it being noticible, I think that's up to the individule. It will depend on how you look and how far you have to go. However, it might be noticible now, and you just can't see it. Wait patiently and your hard work will pay off.

You folks are such wonderful motivators :-)

Maybe I'll look into Pilates -- is it very strenuous?

Kris
