South Beach Dieters......... Unite

You're welcome Sheila. Anytime you need it, I'm here to :cheer2: :cheer2: you on. Oh yeah, and everyone else too! :goodvibes

Happy Good Friday to everyone! :sunny:

Small vent ahead.

I just knew this was going to happen. I told all my co-workers I was doing SBD and was on phase one. I told them I couldn't have any carbs or sugar and it was low fat. Well, wouldn't you know it, *two* people bring me Easter baskets FULL OF CANDY! I know they probably did it so I wouldn't feel excluded but they know full well I can't eat it! It's just torturing me! My office manager is the only one that brought something for everyone but me and I was so thankful to her. She is being so supportive but everyone else at work... ARRGGGH!!!!:headache:

Okay. Vent over. :) So far I've think I'm doing pretty well. Last night went out to dinner and had a lettuce wrap burger and it tasted so good!.:goodvibes I did have a little hamburger relish which I know I shouldn't have. Otherwise, I'm happy with the way things are going. :flower:

Hang in there Kim. There is always someone!!! I know, I've had it happen to me. Oh come on one piece. What is it going to hurt?? All of that. I just ignore it, give treats away to others and keep going on!!!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone.

Hi everyone!

I'm doing pretty well. For a couple of days I had a bit of a headache, but overall I think I have been fine. I didn't feel particularly grouchy of anything. The only time I felt a little desperate was last night. I had went to the Dr and Dentist yesterday and was feeling stressed. I wanted to eat some comfort food (chocolate), but I managed to get through it. I felt good that I was able to push through because usually I will just give in.

I did have one person bring me a chocolate covered marshmallow, and she new I was on SB. I had a co-worker who offered me some chocolate chip cookies in front of the person who baked them. I told her no thanks, of course she had to say "are you sure they're really good". I just said no thanks again and went to my office. Luckily the snacks are out of sight.

Have a good Easter everyone!

Michelle, great for you for hanging in there!!!! It is hard fighting temptation. Mine always comes from family members.

That headache was from you losing those carbs. It goes and stays away until you start adding in to much sugar again and then you try to cut back, here it comes again!!! Sounds like you are doing wonderful.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi friends! I'm back on Phase 1 this week. I need to get rid of the carbs and then add them back slowly to see what is stalling my weight loss. I would love to lose another 5 lbs within the next couple of months.

Good luck everyone!! I hope all of you were able to avoid the candy temptations. I have to admit that I was B-A-D yesterday. My body is paying for it today though...I feel yucky. :guilty:

Hope you get the results you're looking for Sheila......good luck this week !

Candy wise all I had was some sugar free jelly beans....so ok there.
But my mom made a turkey dinner and I treated myself to as much stuffing as I wanted (but was smart enough to refuse the offer to take some home :) ). Now it's back to the beach......

Tell you what Sheila. I will join you at Phase 1 for the week. No need to go it alone. I need to get out of my weight stall, too. To the Beach!!!

I did well. I didn't have a single piece of candy. I did have an adkins advantage bar. I'm in NEED of chocolate!!!!

Good luck Sheila and Melissa, going back will break a stall. I should know, and Lisa could testify to that too!!!

Sandy, wtg on your eating. Had some and then knew when to stop. Being in control is a great feeling.

Have a great Monday everyone

Hi All! Reading this thread has made me so inspired! I've lost 10lbs since Jan 3rd 2005, just by working out and cutting back on carbs. But each time I look at my countdown ticker I realize how quickly my WDW vacation in approaching. Ideally I'd like to be down a total of 25lbs by the time we go to WDW in May...So South Beach seems to be the perfect solution for me (short term as well as long term) For the next two weeks my parents and I have such varrying schedules that we wont have the time to appropriately plan meals etc...so we are going to wean ourselves off carbs and on April 10th (dun dun dun ;)) we will begin Phase 1. I hope to lose between 10 and 12 lbs on Phase 1, if not more. Then we will do Phase 2 for the next 2 weeks and then we will be in Disney. Now...we will not be following South Beach when we go to WDW, but we will likely return to Phase 1 when we return and continue with South Beach from there :)

I'm 5 foot 7 and I started at 198lbs on Jan 3rd 2005
My current weight is 188lbs :) Mar 28th 2005, attainted by changing eating habits and working out
My goal by WDW is 173. Attained by low carb from Mar 29th - April 9th, Phase 1 SBD April 10th - 24th and Phase 2 SBD April 25th - May 12th
My final goal weight is 150lbs. Attained by returning to Phase 1 May 21st - June 4th and then Phase 2 from June 5th onward.

Tink, welcome. Your plan sound very good to me. You seem to know exactly where you are headed and what you want. Congrats on what you've already lost. Come back and keep us posted on your journey :)

Good morning! Yesterday was a good day. I didn't even have a headache from the carb withdrawals.

Melissa, thanks for joining me on Phase 1. I need all of the help I can get! :teeth:

Tink, sounds like you've got a great plan!! Good luck!!

Sandy, I'll ditto Sheree's praise for you on eating so good Easter. Great job!

Hi Everyone

Been a while since I've posted here. I've been on spring break and before that was final week at school (lots of grading). I had a good time on vacation. We went to Grandfather Mountain, Biltmore Estates, and Carowinds in North Carolina. It was good to read all of the good things going on for everyone here.

Well, I'll start with the good news. While I was at Carowinds, I was able to easily fit into all the rides I wanted to ride. Some of you may remember I couldn't fit into Hulk or Dueling Dragons last September when I went to IOA. I didn't ride too much because I was tired that day and when I'm tired I get light headed more quickly. The strangest ride I rode was Bord Assimilator. It is a flying coaster where you lay down on your back then flip over and fly like Superman through most of the ride. It was a very unique experience.

Now for the bad news. I've come back home up almost 3 lbs. I was traveling with my sister and her family and we didn't have a regular eating schedule. They packed lunch meat for sandwiches and I had some good bread but there was a definate lack of vegetables. That combined with eating out for breakfast probably caused the weight gain. I'm hoping some of it is water weight from extra salt while on vacation and will go quickly.

One more item of good news. I've been checking my blood pressure and it down to 110/60. Before I started losing weight and exercising more my blood pressure was 135/85. It's been falling now for quite a while.

Hi everyone,

I'm on my second week of Phase 1. I lost 5.5lbs last week. I haven't cheated, other than a teaspoon of sweet relish. Even on Easter we had a no carb dinner, and sugar free jello for dessert.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Way to go Michelle ! Keep it up !

Good news on the blood pressure Jeremy! I'm experiencing similar results. Even w/ medication, my BP before losing the weight was usually something like 130/85 or in that vicinity..... took it over the weekend and it was 119/78...I was happy !

Michelle and Jeremy, wtg. I love hearing the good news. Jeremy, you know it's only water weight and will soon come off of you! Sandy, the blood pressure for you is sounding great as well. I guess I need to go have mine checked. I haven't seen the doctor in over a year!!!!!

Quick question:

I was looking at south beach diet.com and it mentioned something about being able to drink ice tea (unsweetened im assuming...or maybe sweetened with like 1 packet of splenda?) and diet soda....Is this phase 1 or phase 2? Also, would it be ok to drink something like Sprite Zero because it has 0 Calories, 0 Carbs and 0 sugar, on phase 1? I dont mean every day per say, but like once a week. I dont want to screw up my phase 1, but id love it if i could drink sprite zero even 2 times during that 2 weeks. It would help curb my sweet cravings.

Tink, you can drink tea sweetened with an artificial sweetener and diet soda. I opt for caffeine-free diet soda and I only allow myself one a day. The rest of the day is one cup of coffe, one cup of green tea and water.

Jeremy, great job on the BP and only gaining 3 lbs. I'm sure it is water weight.

Michelle, congrats to you on the BP also. ;)

I drank tea, diet soda and such all through phase 1. It wasn't much because my preference to drink has always been water. It won't mess you up, but don't over do it.
