QuiltTeddy: Don't forget to eat a snack in the morning between breakfast and lunch. Suggestions include a low fat cheese stick, nuts, or raw veggies with ranch dressing. The best part of SB is that you should never be hungry. When you are hungry, eat. You can do this. :flower:

I did that today, but I'm still hungry. Had the snacks allowed. Had almonds mid-afternoon and the celery with Laughing Cow light cheese this morning. My body is telling me -- send carbs -- lol - hoping I can get through the rest of today.....but.....I'm done with dinner.....but.....

momoftwogirls, welcome!!! I always just say to keep meats and veggies (lots of salads if you like them) as part of the Phase 1 diet. Just stay away from those high carby one!! I know there is a list, I too have to find it.

QuiltTeddy, I say that if you are are hungry, then eat. I would snack sometimes 3 or 4 times a day at the beginning. I'm not including meals :) It would really help and I lost the cravings sooner.

I'm so glad to see our thread hopping!!!! I love hearing everyone's progress, and all of the new faces!!!! Keep up the great work and to all of you who are new here.

WELCOME!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I will be beginning phase 1 tomorrow. I have gone on the sbd last year and lost 37 lbs but haven't stuck to it and only lost a lb or so here and there. I would like to lose around 40 more lbs, ideally before September. I'm not counting on that but I did lose the 37 in about 3 1/2 months.

So please count me in and encourage me. I don't know why I've let myself go back to the old ways. Luckily I haven't gained any of it back but I know the potential with this diet and I've got to grab hold and be firm.

Thanks. :wave2:

Well, I ended up having two tbsp. of peanut butter and that kind of "satisfied" me (I guess)....and then simply went to bed. My problem is that I'm a diabetic and once my bs drops and I get the shakes, I feel like crap for almost an entire day. Normally I'd have a small soda (not diet) to raise the bs, but that's not permitted, so I was in a reall quandry yesterday. Today is another day! (Doesn't hurt that the scale said 7 lbs. down in two days -- which I simply cannot believe can be true.....)

:flower:

QuiltTeddy- To avoid the shakes, I recommend lots of protein in your diet. As a diabetic, you have extra challenges with your eating that many of us do not have. Try more protein and lots of smaller snacks and meals throughout the day. If you continue to feel weak and shaky after a couple of days, you probably should consult your doctor and make sure that he approves your meal plan.

So during Phase I we are allowed more than the two alloted snacks? I thought only the two snacks were allowed. Today I did bring with me the celery and Laughing Cow cheese, 30 pistachios and some almonds. I also made jello for tonight. I'm also thinking that although there is protein in a chef salad for lunch, I need to have more protein at lunch than I did. I'm hoping today is a better day.

Thanks, TXBelle, for your input. I appreciate it and love having the support and encouragement.

QUILTTEDDY, I find that it's best to make the program work for you. If you need more snacks, eat them. Trust me, if they are of the Phase 1 variety, it will not effect your weight loss at all!!!! I've been doing this well over a year, and I know it works and many times at the beginning I ate more than what was said and still lost the weight.

Thanks SM. I'm gonna make sure to always have snacks with me and if I need them, I'll eat them. It's good to know that I can have more, if needed and not have to worry about the weight loss. I'm doing okay this morning. Had breakfast and one snack so far, together with three mugs (don't know how much the Disney mugs actually hold) of water so far.

Drinking the water is always good. It will definately flush the system. Anytime you have a question, ask away. Someone will be there to help. Have a good day!!!!

Ya'll I just wanted to check in and say Day 1 of Phase 1 was a success. For starters when I walked into work this morning they had donuts, lots of them, chocolate and glazed, I didn't even smell of them! :cool1: I just strolled on by. Well I bought plenty of low fat 2% mozzerella sticks and had chicken for lunch and a slice of turkey and some more cheese for supper. I have planned out my menu for the week. Which is a big key for me. Thanks for the support, ya'll are great. :wave2:

Karen WTG!!! That's willpower and that's what will help you succeed!

Way to go, Karen - keep it up !!

I hit the 30 lb mark today !!! :)

My weight loss is still slow, but yesterday I actually bought a new pantsuit in size 10P! :cheer2: DH keeps tellling me how good I look. I have lost a total of 9 pounds on South Beach, but I have lost 6 inches around my waist and 9 inches around my hips!

When I told my mom about the pantsuit, she asked "Can you button the pants?" Yes, mom, I can actually button the pants.

Sandy- Congrats on your 30 pound loss! Wow!

Karen- Great job on Phase I! You can do this! :cheer2: :cheer2:

TXBELLE - Congrats to you on the new wardrobe addition........pounds don't tell the whole story and you're making great progress shedding all those inches.....keep it up ! (and aren't the compliments great??? :) )

Hi everyone!

I've been reading all the posts to this thread and it is very inspirational. I have only been on "The Beach" for 2 days now, actually this is the begining of my second day. I have about 60 lbs I want to lose, and I want to drop a significant amount by September cause that's our big anniversary Disney trip.

I haven't been successful in losing weight, so I was a little hesitant to post because I think i'm half expecting not to even make it through the two weeks of Phase I. Anyway, I figured if I posted, and got my declaration out there publically maybe it would help keep me going.

I look forward to reading more of your encouraging stories!

Welcome Lisa !! Have faith in yourself that you can do this and come here with questions or for support when you need to ...... and to share your triumphs ! :)
