South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Happy Spring everyone !!

I am now 2 lbs away from the first goal I set for myself .... hopefully by the end of the month I will reach my goal of 25 lbs lost and will be ready to set another !

Had a great experience yesterday...saw quite a few people I haven't seen since Christmas and got plenty of good comments ......I've never heard "You look great!" so many times in one day ...... one more thing to help keep me on track !!

I also second the vote on the no sugar added fudgsicles....yum !

Sandy wtg. Those comments really do keep you going. I love those comments and it always gives me the extra push I need!! Keep up the good work

Hi everyone! :wave2:

Tomorrow I start the SBD. I'm doing it with my mom and my best friend. I have *a lot* of weight to lose and I am really excited about doing this! :jumping1: You guys are such an inspiration. :grouphug: I haven't had a chance to read all the posts but what I have read makes me feel confident that I can do this! :goodvibes

Welcome Kim. SBD is a great diet to start with. The food choices are unlimited, and with him joining with Kraft, it will probably make the diet even easier. Come back anytime, and tell us your progress, your frustrations, or anything else you would like to share.

BTW, don't give in when you feel like you need carbs, hold strong. The first couple of days is rough.

Thanks so much! I will!

I love carbs. I tried Atkins and couldn't do because I still have to have at least some carbs. That is what attracted me to the SBD. I know I won't be able to eat them like I used to; but, at least in phase two I can start adding good carbs back. I just have to be real careful not to overdo it.

Hi everyone,

I'm starting the SBD today (with Kim). I had been doing the Somersize program, but only having limited success. I have read thru some of this thread, and so many of you have done so amazing. I eat quite a bit out of boredom and tend to eat and then feel guilty about it. It is time for a new attitude about food and exercise. I am doing the 12 week Oprah boot camp,so my exercise has increased. However I still can do better and be more consistent.

Hi everyone! Glad to read that you all are doing so fantastic!! Keep up the good work.

Welcome to all of the newbies!! SB is great!

Michelle, I switched from Somersizing to SB also. I've lost a lot more inches on SB than I did on Somersizing. Good luck!

Lisa, as always, you are doing wonderful. You rock!!

Sheree, a size "zero"!!!!!! WOW!!! :worship:

Michelle. welcome. You will love it here. If you do eat out of boredom, find something legal. A piece of meat, some cheese or something along those lines. I fight that when I'm bored or upset. Now I try to find something else to do or just grab a legal snack!! Come back and let us know how you are doing!

Hello everyone!
My name is Becky. My husband bought me the SB book (I asked him to). I have done Atkin's before, but fell off that wagon 6 months into it from being bored with the same things everyday. I like the fact that I can add in whole grains and fruit, which from a recent nutrition class that I took, I know it is very important for our bodies to have some sort of carbs.
So...
I am officially jumping back on the wagon (along with my BF and hopefully DH).
We are going to WDW for New Years and I want at least 50 lbs off by then.

It's nice to know there is support here.

Does anyone have any opinions on putting kids on SB? My 15 yo and 12 yo are both overweight and I was thinking of getting them on it. Maybe not so much going through the first 2 weeks, or at least adjusting it.

Becky, welcome. I'm not sure about putting kids on. Maybe starting them off with phase 2 instead of phase 1 will help them. We really do everything in our power to help and push each other to where we all need to be. Please come back, and good luck on your journey.

Kris, SBD has a website, unfortunately you have to pay for it. I do know that if you sign up with some of the low carb website (like low carb friends) they have a SBD forumn and you can usually find really good information from them along with other questions and answers and always receipes!!! If you haven't already, go find the book. It does give some information, and there is a receipe book also. Kraft foods has teamed up with SBD and I know there are foods and receipes through them also.

Hi Becky! :wave2:

Michelle and I just starting out on SB, too. Today is our first day. So far, so good. Of course, I've only been doing it for 9 hours. :teeth:

We will be @ WDW mid December. I really need to take off some pounds and get in shape. Last time I was there I was so achy and tired most of the time. Really put a damper on my fun. :sad2:

Hi everyone
I'm new to the SBD (today's my first day) and I have a couple of questions.
What type of salad dressing do you use/like/recommend? I've been using Ranch dressing I believe it's by Kraft but I'm not sure if it's ok to use for phase one. Salad and veggies are really tough for me I usually add ham to my salads and sometimes shredded cheese but I just don't like them. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for the help and inspiration. I have put on so much weight this winter about 20lbs :sad2: . I had been doing so good lately with walking and doing the firm tapes until last week when I slipped and fell down the stairs and broke my tailbone :crazy2: ,so no excercising for me for a while.
Thanks again.

I bought some Olive Oil dressing, it actually tasted pretty good. At work I have a Balsamic Vinagrette. I used to eat only Ranch and Blue Cheese, but I am trying to expand my horizons :earsgirl:

In 2001 when we went we were both in better shape, so when we went in 2003 we could really feel the difference. As much as I enjoyed myself I much preferred the way I felt in 2001. Not to mention the fact that I didn't even want to take pictures.

I have made it thru my first evening, and so far so good

Janelle, welcome!!! So many new people today, I'm so glad. I have always used ranch. It's the only dressing besides the one at the Olive Garden that I like. I think it's fine, it's totally up to you and it has never hindered my weight loss efforts. I usually just dip my fork in and then grab some salad with that. This way I don't use as much as pouring it on. Come back, we will be here for support

Michelle, wtg. Day one is hard, but for me it was like day 3 and 5 when my body started going through withdrawel symptoms. I made it thorough though, and I couldn't be more pleased. Walking around without the extra weight is terrific!!!

Have a wonderful night everyone

Welcome everyone !! Good luck on the SBD journey !!

Janelle - along w/ ranch dressing, I like Paul Newman's Light Balsamic Vinegarette

A happy good morning to everyone! :sunny:

Well, I made it thru day 1. It was easier than I expected. I know the hard part is coming up. My co-workers will be bringing in Easter candy and I have such a hard time resisting! :sad2: Why do the bad things have to taste so good?! :confused3

That the way it goes with the good stuff!!!! Hang in there. Find some sugar free jello or some whipped cream in case you start feeling the need

Ugh. Just blew it with not one, but 2 peanut butter cookies. Couldn't help it. Its that "once a month" challenging time and I was too weak. Now I need to motivate myself to get back on track.
But they were really good, I must admit.
