South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Well I'm one month in and 12 lbs lighter - :cool1: :cool1:
Hoping I can keep doing as well sticking to it.....the fact that I'm seeing results makes it easier :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

That's great, Sandy.

I'm one week into Phase One, and have lost one pound. Hopefully, I'll see some of the success other folks have seen soon.

12 pounds!!! That's GREAT spb999!!!! Keep up the great work!!!

And wow! Bicker! Look at how far you've come!!! YEAH!!! You're doing GREAT!!! I'm surprised about the 1 pound though unless you were already pretty low in your carbs in your regular diet....cutting caffeine out also helps with the weight coming off quickly and drinking LOTS of water...also there are lots of hidden carbs out there...the best salad dressing is vinegar and oil....but girl...you've lost 91 pounds YOU KNOW THIS!!! :) I'm just such a carb junkie that the first week of low carb minimally brings about a 5 pound loss then when I add them back in slowly it takes some time to catch up...but you're sooo close to goal that these next pounds may be harder than the first 91 :) Exercise and enjoying the new you will help!!! :)

KEEP up the great work!!!
Tara

I'm 9 pounds gone in 3 weeks with SBD...I'm doing pretty well with sticking to it...a few semi-sweet chocolate chips here and there and a few M&M's oh and a few cheetos (literally on TOM days I have 2 cheetos and 4 or 5 M&M's) is that not silly? But I have upped my walking and exercise so it's coming off whether it wants to or not! :)
Tara

Thanks Tara!

(Incidently: I'm a guy. Planetsis is the 'girl' -- that's her on the right. She lost 60 pounds when I lost my 100 pounds, in 2001, and is on South Beach with me too, trying to lose seven pounds she gained back on various vacations and cruises.)

You all are doing well. Congrats on all the weight lossed!!

I'm still doing great. I've been maintaining since October, but have dropped 5 pounds total since that time. I've been really working out hard, and it's showing. Tank top and short weather is coming and I want to look really good for it.

Keep up the good work all :)

Had to get on as the smell of pizza is too tempting in the kitchen. I will weigh in tomorrow, to see how much I lost in my first week of Phase 1. I can do this, I know it. Soooo many temptations this weekend, went out to eat 3 times and resisted all my favorites. Not easy, but I am too determined this time to blow it.
Congrats to everyone for doing so well. Hope to post some good #'s tomorrow. My goal is to lose 20 lbs, I hope I made a dent. It will make sticking to this much easier. I have a party on Saturday night that I need to look great for. Thats motivating me as well.
Take care.

Hi Brian, good to see another guy on this thread. Great job on your weight loss. You look great. I'm sure you will see continued success on SBD.

Melissa, congratulation on staying away from the pizza. Once you get into phase 2, there are several decent options out there. If there is a Donato's in your area they make a good no-dough pizza. They use soy crumbles on the bottom. If you look around, there are also some low carb pizza crust mixes that are pretty good.

Sandy, Great job on losing 12 lbs in a month. Don't be worried if your weight loss slows down as you move further into phase 2.

Sheree' good job on maintaining. To be in that maintenance mind set and still be losing even a lb a month must feel good.

Thotfulspot Congratulations on staying cheat free.

For me, everything is going OK here. I am .5 a lb from a new clippie. I have slowed down to the 1 to 2 lb a week recommended but it's not consistant. One week I'll lose almost nothing and the next week I'll lose 3 lbs. I have been sick the end of last week with either a cold or sinuses and haven't been able to get in the walking I normally do. I am feeling better now so I hope to get back on track tomorrow. I am thinking about entering in the American Heart Association Heart Walk to have a goal to work towards. They are going to get a team together at work to walk and raise money. At least starting out, I think that will be better for me than signing up and paying for a 1/2 marathon although I may end up doing that some day.

Thanks Jeremy ....I'll try not to let the scale discourage me.....I'll just stick to the plan and keep exercising and see what happens !

Sandy, the scale is evil, pure evil. I used to depend on what it said and get pretty depressed when those numbers didn't match what I wanted. It would set me back days. I've learned to not to depend on it to much and instead monitor everything including inches. Give it time, it will come off!

Every time I see a picture of Bicker and Planetsis, I am truly amazed. The two of you are incredible. And you are also an inspiration. When I first started I remember looking at your before and after pictures and said to myself, "I can do this too."

Wiskband - if you look back through this thread. You can use those as a guideline. Just do a search on my name.

Still plateaued, but I have not been working out. I have been very busy at the office - in the last three weeks I have:

1) Taught a class I hadn't taught in over a year (two weeks ago)
2) Taught a new a class I had never taught before (last week)
3) Prepared to teach another new class this week (all stuff I have taught in other classes, just presented a different way)

As a result my days are usually: in the office by 7:15, teaching class by 8:30, home for dinner at 5:00, back to the office by 6:00 (6 mile commute :) ), study and prepare for new classes until 10. Go home, go to bed, get up and do it all over again. On the weekends I am doing classroom setups for the following weeks' classes, and coaching soccer. Still, none of this is an excuse for not getting off my dead, lazy a_ er, butt and exercising. I will start up again.

Hope all is well with everyone.

BTW - did we lose Zeraspride (Lisa)? I haven't seen a post from her here in ages.

we didn't lose Lisa, she's just going through that thing that we all go through. She's stopped checking in, not just here but in several places. She's in need of some encouragement all!! Send her a pm, that's what I've been doing.

Ok, everyone.
Day 8, Phase 1. So far, so good. No cheating. Lots of temptations. But, with willpower, water (lots, and lots of it), and Wish encouragement......
I weighed in this morning and I have lost

8 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1:

Boy am I happy. I have 12 to go to goal. I have been so close in the past and ended up falling off the beach,so to speak. This time I intend to be Beachfront for the rest of my life. I finally feel like I have energy, no headaches. And best of all, no hunger. I have to force myself to eat. Which I need to do because I know I can mess up my metabolism if I don't eat enough. So, thanks for the encouragement. Keep it coming. I am off to have some lunch.
:goodvibes

Melissa, congrats on the weight loss. I know you are on :cloud9:

Good morning everyone!

First thanks to Sheree for her encouraging pm's and Jerry for noticing I was MIA. It's been such a frustrating past couple of weeks for me that I haven't been posting much on WISH or on our thread. I told Sheree that I was feeling like a fraud. Not because I was off plan or cheating or binging or anything but I was just feeling mentally and emotionally lost. I felt like my motivation for getting to goal wasn't there anymore. I have come a long way and was getting weary of the journey. People have been so complimentary in real life about my weight loss that I was beginning to wonder if I just shouldn't call goal and be done with it. After all, I've gone from a size 26 to size 12 which is something I never dreamed would happen.

But I have another dream that of being a size 8 and being in a healthy weight range. To fulfill that dream, I have to get back on track. I think I've been eating like I'm in Phase 3 which is great for maintenance but I'm not in maintenance yet. I have about 35 pounds to go to get to goal and I will get there!

I was reading a bit on the thread and want to say congratulations to all of you for your continued success! You are doing so well and I know I need the encouragement from this group to get where I need to be.

In addition to making a commitment to come here and check in more regularly, I have joined Oprah's 12 week boot camp challenge that started yesterday. What made me decide to take up her challenge was seeing the scale up a pound on weigh in day. That may not seem like much but some but this was the first time since I started SBD over a year ago that the scale went up. I can take a stall and staying the same weight but going up - NOT!!!! So this is day 2 and I'm already seeing a difference in the direction of the scale.

So I'm back; for those that know me, thanks for being here to support me and for those that are new to the program or don't know me, I look forward to getting to know you better and want to say that this program is so wonderful and the people on this thread so supportive that I know we can each achieve our weight loss goals! Thanks for listening.

Lisa - good to see ya again.

Getting back into the habit of Phase 2 or even Phase 1 eating can be difficult if one has "slipped" into a Phase 3 state of mind (like ME). Truth be told, I feel if there is anyone here equipped to handle such a task it is YOU!! I have no doubt you will get there.

Lisa you are so inspiring.

Good luck on the challenge. If anyone could do it you could. Look at what you have accomplished so far!

Jerry - thanks so much for noticing I was missing! I didn't think one WISHer would matter but as usual you guys show that each of us count and I appreciate that so much. Thanks too for the vote of confidence. I don't think I even allowed myself to admit I had slipped into a maintenance way of eating until I made the post today. Now that I admitted it, I feel more than ready to get back in the fight and beat these last 35 pounds. My goal is to be around more to cheer everyone on. I know that helped me so much before. There truly is more happiness in giving than in receiving!

Carol - thanks so much to you to for your support and encouragement. This Oprah challenge is kind of scary, going back to Phase 1 is scary and frankly so is the thought of being at goal but it's time to come out of this comfort zone I've been in for the past few months. Onward and downward!

Hugs and love to all my South Beach buddies!!!!

Hi Lisa - good luck to you ...I'm sure you'll meet the challenge!
