Hello, everyone!
Going a bit back to the potatoes discussion -- yes, I remember reading that as well, that if you *have* to have a potato, it's better to have fat to slow down the digestion than to eat a plain baked potato. But I'm with the rest of you -- I've tasted a nibble of potato here and there when I've made them for my family, and the flavor is so bland! I find the same thing applies to pasta -- when I began my weight loss journey, I was so strict with what I put in my mouth that when I made pasta for my family, I would cut a piece in half and look at it to see if it was cooked al dente. Now I'll bite into a piece to check, and I can't believe I used to eat that stuff so often! I've gotten used to the more interesting taste and texture of whole grain pasta.
Jeremy, I think it's wonderful that you're making this way of eating work for you in the real world -- the fact is, it has to, or one meal out would break us! You're striking a fabulous balance between what you want to eat and what's possible at times -- keep on track!
SPB999, 11 pounds is a terrific achievement!! Good for you, and you're absolutely right that muscle weighs more than fat -- if you replace muscle with fat, you may not notice much of a difference in the scale, but there is a tremendous difference going on in your body! Keep checking your measurements regularly, and keep doing what you're doing! (Also, there is no feeling in the entire world to beat the one you get when your pants start going
swish, swish around your waist -- savor it, you've earned it!)
Tara, faboo!! You're a lean, mean, fat-burning machine! (Except for the 'mean' part.)
Hi, Melissa!! Good to see you again!! We're here for you whenever you need us!
Sheree, I want you to know how encouraging I find it that you're maintaining your goal weight so well! Sometimes when I picture myself at goal, I get a bit nervous about allowing myself too many indulgences, and suddenly realizing that I've put lots of weight back on. It reassures me so much to see that you can be as committed to maintaining as to losing the weight in the first place.
As for me, I'd been on a bit of a plateau for a few weeks, but over the weekend, I lost 4 pounds!! Unfortunately, it's because I either caught a virus or had food poisoning, and spent Saturday night in the bathroom, desperately wishing I wasn't. Bleah. I only felt bad for a day, thank heavens, and I've been slowing getting my appetite back. Two of the pounds are back, of course, through replacing my fluids, but I'm going to try getting back to exercise tomorrow, and trying to lose more pounds the real way.
Hope everyone has a sensational Monday on the Beach!!
