South Beach Dieters......... Unite

My mother and sister just left after spending the week-end with me. Luckily my sister is on Atkins and keeps me honest. We went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's last nite, and all I can say is that their low carb selections are awesome. My sister had the lc cheesecake and I had the lc chocolate lava cake. While the cake was good, it was a tad too bit on the rich side for me.

Just about 4 weeks before our trip, and no busy week-ends coming up, so for DH and I, we'll be in high gear SB mode. I hope to drop another 5 lbs before the trip.

Bought another new pair of shorts yesterday at the Liz Claiborne outlet. I tried on a size 16 and size 14, the 16 was TOO big. I love it. Ended up with another pair of sz 14 shorts. Life is good.

Hope everyone has a great week. Cathy- yes you may have to cheat in Vegas. How can you pass up the buffets? You'll burn it off with all the walking you will do, though.

Hello everyone. Glad to see us still doing damage to our bodies and losing the weight and inches.

I'm only 1 pound away from 50 pounds and 4 away from my original goal of 130. For the thanksgiving challenge, I am going for 125, and that' just to be below in case I fall off, which I have no real intention of doing. So, wish me on everyone. I'm so close I can feel it:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi Sheree! I am finally "On The Beach" so just wanted to stop by and say hi to all of you. I will be back quite often I am sure!! :wave2:

Jeanne, welcome. I'm so happy that you decided to come on the beach with us. I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Although some of the other's on here might be able to help you in some areas more than I can. Come back anytime. We will be here to help you in any way that we can.:wave2:

I just had a quick question...
Is the low carb ice cream that's made with splenda "legal"?
I am still on Phase 1 and was told that I can make Root Beer Floats. But I wanted to check and make sure before I buy it and even tempt myself with ice cream in the house.

Congrats to everyone on their losses. Keep up the great work.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: pirate: :cutie:
Have a Disney Day!

I used to make Root Beer floats with diet Root Beer (IBC or A&W is good) and a splash of heavy cream. You don't need much cream at all, and it tastes very good.
The weirdest thing happened. I have only been on this for 1 day, and today I woke up and I realized I don't feel as groggy and lethargic as I usually do! I have a Middle schooler now so I get up an hour earlier than I used to. That was killing me, but today I feel pretty good! Could eating right make that much of a difference already?

mrsschlep, I would not recommend having any sweets during phase 1. You are trying to get your body to change it's habits. Sometimes the ice cream, or any desserts with sugar will keep your body from getting used to not having certain things. The ice cream may keep your cravings up instead of stopping them, which is what you want.

Jeanne, it is very possible. That is just the greatest part of this. In a few days, you will notice it even more.::yes:: Then you will notice the weight beginning to come off, and you will really feel wonderful then.

Have a great day everyone.:wave2:

I am not feeling so great today, and really wanted some soup. Please tell me if this is off plan. I made 3 cups of beef boullion, added cut up celery and onion, and cut up chicken. I simmered it for about 20 minutes. Does that sound like it was okay for South Beach? It tasted really good! (I would have used chicken boullion, but we were all out.)
Thanks!

seems to be alright. That's a great way to stay on plan even when you are not feeling well. WTG!

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting on our thread very much lately. I have been stuck on a plateau and it's never happened to me before. It shook me but I didn't break! :teeth: I was just feeling sorry for myself and hanging out in the accountability thread mostly. I even stopped journaling and haven't figured out if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet.

After close to 4 weeks of either staying the same or bouncing around with a 3-4 pound weight gain, I am happy to report I'm back in the land of the losers again! I am 4 pounds lighter today than I was this time last week which is 1 whole pound below the lowest weight I have experienced yet since I started SBD so I am unofficially at 80 pounds lost! I'll wait until Sunday's official weigh in day to claim it for sure and grab my new clippie but I am very excited to be on the losing track again.

I have made several adjustments to the way I eat. I have cut out most whole wheat products because I just felt my body had adjusted to this way of eating after 9 months. I already work out 7 days a week with the Firm tapes (and sometimes twice a day) so I knew upping my exercise wasn't the answer. I knew I had to give up the wheat products and lc ice cream. I didn't want to but after about 4 weeks of being stuck at 203 pounds and desparately wanting to get to onderland, last week I decided I had nothing to lose with giving up this stuff but the weight! So, you could say I'm doing Phase 1.5. I do have fruit, whole wheat crackers, an occasional Atkins Endulge bar and ww bread but only every once in a while. So far it's working and I'm down to 202. Woohoo!!!

To those that new on the plan. This program works! I am so thrilled with my progress, even though it has slowed. I try not to lose sight of the fact that between me and DH we have lost an entire person! DH has lost 70. So stick with the program and you will be happily amazed at your results!

I'll be checking in more regularly. Take care everyone!

Hey Lisa, so glad to see you posting again. I had been thinking about you. I had to change the way I ate too. Too much bread mostly tortillas and dairy (cream cheese, heavy whipping cream) Those Atkins and Russel Stovers candies stall me big time. I haven't had anything like candy or ice cream in like a month 1/2. I ate like 3 teaspoons of TCBY's low carb and was through. One thing about this plan is that you have to decide what works for you and what doesn't. So glad you didn't give up.

HOme from Las Vegas. Yes, I cheated..... I had some ice cream one night (it was delicious too!!) AND I had some chips at a mex place. I have not weighed myself since getting home (and don't plan to till monday). We walked about 4-5 miles per day each day so I am sure that helped some...
I will be back on plan today and may go back to phase one for a little while (if I have gained...).
Have a great weekend everyone.

welcomeback. Hope your trip was wonderful

Sheree- I just noticed the 50lb clippie. Congratulations! Seems just like yesterday when you were getting close to your 30lb clippie. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

It's been a bad week for me. I'm eating allowable foods on SB, but eating too much of them and I feel boated. Maybe it's the monthly food cravings, but I have got to get back on track.

I have come too far to mess up now. My goal is in sight, and I want to achieve it.

Please send some encouragement my way!

Thanks leanne. I'm feeling the monthly bloat right now:( I can't wait til it's over, then maybe I'll be at goal

Good gravy, it must be in the air! I'm also feeling puffy, and drinking water by the gallon in the hopes that in the end, I'll be that much svelter!

I had a milestone last week -- I made my world-renowned spaghetti and meatballs (I'll share with you all that the secret is to mix fennel seeds in with the meatballs, and cook them right in the sauce. Don't tell ANYONE!) I made normal pasta for the rest of the family, and spelt pasta for myself. It's the first time since early January that I've eaten pasta at all! It had an unusual flavor and texture -- something like eating whole wheat bread -- but I think I could get used to it as an occasional thing.

Leanne, you can so totally hold strong!! You have achieved so much, and worked so hard for so long!! In a few days, you'll feel like yourself again, and attack those last few pounds!

Sheree, congratulations again!! That is honestly one beautiful clippie! Nice going!

crz4mm2, welcome back! I'm curious about the results of your weigh-in -- it doesn't sound like you cheated so very much, particularly considering how much exercise you got. I'll bet your scale will be very nice to you!

Lisa, woo-hoo!! ONEderland is beckoning! Sounds like you are turning up the heat in your fat-burning furnace!!

I have a feeling there are some spiffy new clippies heading everyone's way!

:sunny:

thotfulspot, I thought it was just me. I'm drinking water and DH thinks that I'm gonna drown:teeth: I wish TOM would hurry up, I'm tired of feeling like a bloated whale

Well, I got on the scale at work yesterday to find I had only gained one pound.... So that wasn't so bad. I really thought it would be more.
I have done only phase one stuff since then so hopefully it will come right back off.
My DH is still loosing. He is down 25+ pounds now and is in size 34 jeans! Men make me sick they seem to loose so easily!!
Back on the treadmill too. Even though I got alot of walking in last week (4-5 miles per day according to mom's pedometer) it wasn't fast walking- more of a strole, so that didn't really help much (or maybe I would have gained even more if we hadn't walked!!).
Anyway, I feel good doing SBD and plan to continue. Only 11 pounds to go now.... :)
Keep up the good work everyone!

down three pounds :) I am very happy.
THis diet (lifestyle) is wonderful.

crz4mm2, so happy for you. This diet is wonderful and it gets so much better!!!!! Keep up the good work
