South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Happy Monday South Beachers!

I haven't been as good in checking in as I should and I'm going to change that today. I keep a journal hear on WISH but I've been having a hard time posting each day to it so I'm going to try to at least post my menu for the day and my exercise for the day on our thread. I need to keep myself honest and I'm afraid if I don't keep track of my eating and exercise the weight will start to creep back on and I've still got a long way to go til goal.

I weighed in on Saturday and I'm down 2 pounds so that makes my total lost 78.5 pounds. I'm just 4 pounds from onderland and that will be a major accomplishment for me. I was going to list my menus daily but I don't want to confuse anyone since I mix South with Atkins so I'll just mention if I am OP for the day and what exercise I've done.

I did Firm cardio sculpt blaster and I'm taking part in the 1,000 minutes of exercise in August challenge and my total is 961/1000 so I've got 39 minutes to reach my goal which I'll do between this evening and tomorrow.

Sheree - I'm so glad Phase 1 worked for you. I think it can work again for me too. I just have to focus and make sure I eat enough food. WTG for you and I know you'll hit goal soon!

thotfulspot - you've done a wonderful job without exercise. DH hasn't exercised either and the weight was just dropping off him, while I work out everyday! I'm sure you'll get to goal even faster if you add a little exercise. Keep up the great work! Just like you and Sheree, I don't miss the bad stuff either. I bought my son a meal from Wendy's the other night and I told him how wonderful his french fries smelled but I knew they wouldn't taste as good as they smelled and he agreed with me that fast food never tastes as good as it smells. I even went to the donut shop the other night for my little brother and wasn't tempted in the least. This is truly a great way of eating!

Stacy - we are so happy to have you join us! South Beach is just great! This thread is wonderful too for support and encouragement. You can take off those 20 pounds in no time! I agree with Sheree about not looking at everyone else's loss. When I do that I get frustrated and start to feel all negative. Once you see the pounds melting off, it will give you such incentive to keep going.

Hello all.
Have been doing very well following the diet. Am now ready to start phase 2 (although DH is staying on 1 a while longer he says). I am trying to stay active on the treadmill, but missed a day yest due to too much household stuff to do :) Getting back on today though.

THis thread is a wonderful motivator!
thanks.

Cathy, only 12 # to go :)

Cathy, you can do it. Phase 2 is so great. Keep up the good work:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Good morning all, and thank you for the warm welcome yesterday!

My first day on the Beach went pretty well. I stuck to it, except for one minor thing... when I went out to lunch with co-workers, I accidentally grabbed a mint on the way out of the door and had it eaten before I even realized what I was doing! A mint after a meal out is such a habit! Anyway, I am not too upset over it.

I didn't weigh myself today-- I am waiting until Saturday-- but my stomach already feels flatter and less bloated.

I even went to a baseball game last night and didn't have any popcorn or beer! :) So far, so good. I am going to babble some more in my journal now, but thanks again and I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot from me ;)

LovesDoomBuggies - congratulations on completing Day 1. I found the first few days to be the most difficult then it was smooth sailing. You can do this and we are here to support you!

LoveDoomBuggies (I do too, by the way!), the hardest part about beginning is changing those unthinking little eating habits. One mint isn't going to change things at all, and now you're that much more aware of them!

Well, here I am into week #3. Very pleased with the 9.5# weight loss thus far. Jeans are starting to bag in my butt area :) I am pretty happy about that :)
Have been trying some of the dishes in the SB cookbook. Today I tried the STuffed Eggplant. It was wonderful!!
I just can't get over the LACK of cravings. Sure, certain things still sound good, but I just don't feel like I HAVE to have that stuff anymore. I keep the roasted almonds around if I have some snack attack and that really seems to get it.
I also can't get over how filling this stuff is and how much less I have to eat now. Am up to 20 minutes steady on the treadmill at 3.5 MPH so it is getting easier. Can move easier and breath easier and wore a dress on thurs I hadn't been able to for a LONG time :)
Keep up the good work everyone.
Welcome LoveDoombuggies
Cathy

Stacy, hello again. WTG on day one. It gets easier to do this. After a while, you don't miss it.

Cathy 9.5 pounds is great. The clothes are getting loser and your body is getting fit and trim. Congratulations

well, I stepped on the scale after 6 days, and I must admit, I am a little bit disappointed. 138.8. Which is STILL less than the 140-141 I started at, so I am going to keep plugging away at it! And I must admit, I have cheated a bit. The monster cookies, etc. So maybe the small loss will motivate me to be more strict this week!

On the other hand, I had a goat cheese omelet yesterday and it was just amazing. Who knew I loved goat cheese? It was way yummy.

The good thing is, now I'm not scared to weigh myself since I know the number- and I know it's just a wee bit smaller than usual! :)

Hmm. That's all I really have to say. Have a good Labor Day everyone!

Stacy

Stacy,
Keep right at it. I was very down about only 1.5# the 2nd week... But, I kept going and am doing the exercise.
Took the DD shopping last night for jeans. I found a pair of shorts on sale that I thought might look nice (and to take on my trip to Las Vegas) but they were only a size 10 (something I would not have even TRIED on 3 weeks ago) and they fit! Not only fit, they look good!! So keep going. I have dropped 9.5# in 3 weeks, but one pant size and tops are down to a medium again :) I will have to get smaller bras soon :(
I am going to try a different recipe today and see how that goes (I love goat cheese too btw).
Good Luck!!!
We are here with you.

Cathy

Checking in this week. Down another pound. On my way to the beautiful 30lb clippie.

Went shopping over the week-end to try and find a pair of shorts for my trip next month. Figured this was my last good week-end before all the clearance stuff was gone. Anyway, found a pair, size 14 (no W) and they fit! I was so excited. Even more excited than the price of $6.00.

Trying not to shop too much, but a lot of my clothes are too big. I'm holding out until I get to my goal of 40-45 pounds.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great rest of the week!

Just wanted to stop by and say Hi. I love this board but am new to posting. Today I am on Day 1 of the SBD. I am very excited because I have never stuck to any diet before and I feel that with you guys as a support group I just can't fail.
I am setting my goal at losing 44lbs by Jan for our first ever family vacation.
I am doing so far so good on the first day. Just trying to remember to drink lots of water. I feel like I am floating.

Have a great day!!!

Stacy, keep up the work. It will pay off, trust me. It may be slow going, but it will come off.

Cathy, size 10, how wonderful for you. I love buying smaller clothes. It makes a woman feel real good.

leanne, work your way on down to that 30 pound clippie. You are so close, keep it up. I don't know what to tell you about the new clothes thing. I keep buying new clothes. Not to expensive, but clothes that fit. I'm so close to goal that I'm trying to make do with what fits best, but doesn't look to huge.

mrsschlep, welcome. We love to help you. Day one may seem hard, but you can make it through, and then the rest of the days will get easier and easier. Drinking water is key, it will help flush everything out.

BTW, still on my way to goal. 6 pounds to it now. I also did something I thought I'd never do. I fit into a size 4. At least on the bottom. The top, just won't go. DH is always joking with me saying that some women pay good money for what I have:o Oh well, I can't complain. From a 14W to a 4/6!!!!!!!!!

mrsschlep, welcome!! I have only been here about 10 days myself, but I'm really enjoying the support I have been getting. You will, too! :)

I also feel like I'm floating! I'm only on liter #2 of water for the day, but I am soooo full of water.

We're vacationing in January, too! I don't plan on wearing shorts to Disney in January, but I want to look good anyway. :)

Sheree: Size 4!! Congrats!! And six pounds away! Whoohoo!! You definitely deserve a brand-new wardrobe. Maybe that will be my motivation-a mini shopping spree! :hyper:

Stacy

Stacy, thanks. I love those mini shopping sprees. Great motivation I tell ya::yes::

Wow- no one has posted in a while, so I will. Just claimed my 30 lb clippie!!:Pinkbounc

I think the "whoosh" fairy visited me this past week. I even weighed myself two days in a row to make sure it was really true. After the plateau last month, I was sure I was on the same track again this month. So, I have made my goal of 30 lbs before my trip next month.

My next goal is THE goal. 40 lbs total. I can hardly believe that I am getting so close.

Thanks to everyone on the board for their encouragement. Have a good week everyone. :wave2:

leanne, WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: Keep up the great work::yes::

Way to go Leanne!
I gained back 1.5#last week at a conference. Everything they offered for breaks/lunch was high carb... sigh. I did manage to eat salads and took my own almond snacks. But still gained back some. I am back to 10.5# total lost so far which really isn't bad at all! DH has lost 25 so far.
Keep up the good work. Exercise really helps too.
Cathy (who may have to cheat a little bit in las vegas next week;) )

Nice going, Leanne!! You must be feeling great!! LOVE that new clippie on you!

I don't have much to say about my own progress ... I've been stuck for the past few weeks, and although the scale and tape measure haven't budged, I feel somehow bigger. Could be a perception problem, I suppose. On the bright side, those weeks included a big party to celebrate my husband's birthday, out-of-town guests, and a fairly lively schedule, so while a change downwards would have been nice, at least it wasn't a change upwards.

I wanted to get started with some more daily exercise, but haven't yet been able to make it happen. Now that things are settling down again, hopefully I'll be able to get my plan off the ground.

Have a great weekend, fellow Beachers!
