South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Thanks for the welcome sm4987 and Florida mom. I even "feel" lighter -- as crazy as that sounds because it's only 4 pounds! :)

sm4987, I'm in College Station. Where are you?

:goodvibes I'm in DFW. I live in Mansfield, just south of Arlington

s&k'smom, let us know how you do and remember go slowly. Don't add to much to soon

Thanks Sheree I will take it slow. Just a litle bit each day.

Thanks for the replies. I bought a wrap at Mr. Sub right after starting Phase II and I just felt bloated afterwards! I feel like I "react" to some carbs very quickly!
Just thought I would check in and say hi! I have been really consistent with exercise this week which has been so GREAT and my eating has been "pretty good" I find planning my meals is a big help! Also since it is summer, we are eating tons of veggies and that is great. I weighed this a.m. and am still staying the same so I will take that. I have been increasing my exercise so maybe retaining a bit of water? Anyway, will up my water intake FAITHFULLY!!!!!

calena, that's what happens sometimes. Subway does fine with me, but other types of bread wraps make me bloated. Don't forget about popeyes if you have one. Those chicken strips on the run are a great way to eat.

Yes the exercise will make you maintain and sometimes even gain, then you might experience the whoosh effect. You'll start seeing that scale drop!

calena I'm so happy you said that. I thought it was only me. I could swear I had bloated right up after "cheating" the other day when we were at the lake. Lord I feel better!

Hi all
Well after reaching a new low last week, I'm up a little but I expected it to happen. I've been in this pattern of up a little down a little bit more. I didn't get as high on this up as the last time so the top side of the saw tooth is going down as well as the bottom side. Hopefully, I will get my next clippie by the end of the month and my 1 year anniversary on WISH.

As far as foods I eat when I'm on the go, I also go for the subway wraps. Chilli and a side salad from either Wendy's or Burger King isn't too bad either. If I have a little more time, I go to a buffet like Ryans or Golden Correl. They have their low carb offerings marked plus you can get more vegetables than you can at fast food.

Hi everyone! I'm still hanging around and reading the posts. You all seem to be doing great!

I'm still on Phase 2, but am now counting calories also. Not much seems to be working for me right now.

I have an issue that I need advise on. My abdominal area (right under my bra and down) seems to have grown about 2 inches! I've been exercising and continuing on Phase 2. I can't understand it. If something doesn't happen soon, I'm going to the doctor. Have any of you ever had this problem. SB usually makes my stomach go down, not out!

Thanks!

I lost another lb which makes me down 18 since starting WISH and 14 since starting South Beach. When I get to 20 I am buying a charm bracelet and will start adding charms for various milestones in my life - not just weight related. We are also going to the real beach (Cape Hatteras - unless it is blown away by Irene!) in two weeks so I will be brave and bare my bod and wear a bikini if I reach my 20 off!

Congrats Calena !! Latest word is that Irene will be taking more of a turn out to sea so Cape Hatteras should be in tact when you get there :)

Sheila - I didn't experience anything with my stomach like you're describing....hope you get the answers you're looking for soon !

Question about the subway wraps.....are they whole wheat wraps and that's what makes them SB friendly?

Sheila, I haven't experienced any problems like that with my stomach either. You might want to check with your doctor if it doesn't get better.

Calena, wtg. You are getting closer and closer to your goal. Don't give up and keep up the good work.

Sandy, my only assumption about the wraps is that they were made for Atkins who tells you to eat whole grain instead of white. So that being said, the wraps should be made of whole wheat (which I really believe they are) and then you can put in them what you want which makes it great since deli meat is a great choice of foods.

I also think the Subway Wraps have at least some soy in the wraps that also lowers the carb count.

Well I fell off the wagon and gonna do it again today but I figure one cheat day is better than a month full.

Hi everyone. It's been a few days since I've posted. We've had company in town and I had everyone over to my house last night for dinner. DH grilled sirloin, I did the broiled vegetables in olive oil recipe from the SBD book, and for dessert I did two things: I picked up a whole cheesecake from Ruby Tuesdays (the low carb one) and I did the Phase 2 recipe of strawberries dipped in chocolate. The cheesecake was delicious, but not low fat by any stretch of the imagination. However, the strawberries in chocolate were WONDERFUL. If I had to do it over again, I would have just had the strawberries.

Sheila, I can't say that my tummy has gone out since SBD but it's definitely been really slow to lose inches. That area you are talking about is the area I really pooch out. But for peace of mind, I would go see a doctor. If nothing else, he/she will oooh and ahhh over your weight loss! :flower:

I also need to shake up my exercise routine. I would love to have a cardio routine I could do at home that was really low impact. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone for your advise. I have an appt scheduled for next month for my 6 month check up so I'll talk to my doctor about it then. I think that it might be scar tissue from all of the ab surgeries I've had. :sad2:

Good afternoon all. Kids are back in school today and they had a great time. Then the PTA moms talked me into going to the cheesecake factory!!!!! I was good though. Cobb salad with a six carb cheesecake. Boy was that cheesecake great!!! It gave me a sugar rush though. I've had a major headache ever since. Oh well, it was worth it!!!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful. wonderful day.

Sheree I know what you mean about the sugar rush once you get used to it being out of your diet, it's like WOW when you have it.

S&k'smom, it was more than a WOW. I almost felt crazy. I was thinking, how much splenda did you use in here!!! Not to mention the sugar alcohols. No stomach problems, but my head is going crazy. I now remember why I keep my sweets to a minimum!!!!!

I find when I taste some sweet things they are just TOO sweet. DH bought a cake and I tried one bite and it was enough. Too sweet. I just don't want to waste my carbs on stuff that is not what I really want. I do LOVE cheesecake, so I would have gone for that. Need to buy some Ricotta today!

Calena, it's funny. I used to love sweets like crazy before I went on SB. It almost didn't matter what it was. Now, some things I can't handle. I haven't had a single sweet off Sb, all low carb (stuff made with splenda and the sugar alcohols) and some things I just can't have. Oh well. I know how to make my own killer cheesecakes!!!!
