South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Jeremy, how wonderful. That clippie is so much closer. Keeping you in my prayers so that you can get it really soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeremy, congrats on doing so well! It's great that you're so close to that 100 lb. clippie! What an accomplishment!

Church functions are hard...I've always had trouble passing up the coffee hour goodies on Sunday mornings. I've started bringing my Dannon Carb Control smoothies with me, though, sticking them in the fridge during church, and then enjoying that afterwards during coffee hour while everyone else is eating danishes. ;)

Congrats Jeremy that really is hard to resist those kids friendly yummies.

Well I was pretty good last night, though technically still on phase 1 I just had a little spoonful of pasta with our company and was able to find sugar free cupcakes. they were really small so I enjoyed one singing happy bday to DS. Normally I would have had a really, really big helping of pasta and pretty much stuffed myself with the cupcakes and ice cream so I felt really good about it.

s&k'smom, great for you too!! Sometimes it's hard not to enjoy fully what every one else is having. Keep letting us know about your progress!

Hi everyone. Well, I had one of those Fridays where I just wanted to go out for pizza and top it off with brownies. Ever had one of those days?? Our air went out at our house yesterday evening and the repairman couldn't come until this morning. I honestly do not know how people lived in Florida in the summer before AC. Needless to say, sleeping was really tough last night, and to add to it, both boys woke up several times in the night with cold symptoms and ear aches. Yikes, that almost sent me to the pantry right there! LOL

With all the craziness of repairmen, doctors visits, trying to fit in work too, the family decided to grab a quick bite out tonight. We were going to go to the local BBQ place, but somehow my inner voice spoke up and we ended up at one of those all you can eat salad places (of course the kids won't eat the salad, but that's another discussion...) I was hungry, but at least everything was OP. So, I was happy that I managed to make a decent decision in the midst of a stressful day. I also ended up going to the gym tonight (feeling lethargic) but glad that I went.

It's nice to know that you can do this program pretty easily even when you're stressed. I never could do that on WW.

Excellent Florida mom, I know what you mean by stressful it's so easy to just eat a quick, junk meal! I hope the house is all cooled off now. Do you live far from Disney?

We're about 2 hours from Disney, but that can change greatly due to the traffic on I-4!

Yes, the house is cooled off now, thank heavens!

Ugh, Ugh Ugh,

Okay that about sums up how I feel. I have been sooooo far off the beach I was either in the mountains or the dessert. Things have been really busy and I ran out of a lot of my mainstays foods, and we went on a trip with extended family with shared meals etc and had two birthdays BUT what it really comes down to, is those are all excuses and I was just not making the effort and was being lazy.

Facing that reality has made me feel stronger and now I am ready to go back to plan. I am hitting ph 1 today and while we have a wedding with a dinner tonight, and I have no idea what is being served, I am going to do the best I possibly can adn I am not going to have any cake. I am expecting you guys to hold me accountable for that no cake thing okay? :teacher: Somebody ask me tomorrow if I ate any!

Anway, I am having some scrambled eggs this a.m. and then heading off to the store to fix the state of my pantry and refridgerator. And that mint chip ice cream in my freezer no longer has my name on it.

Love having a place to come to get back on track. Stay strong everybody!

wow, everyone has lots going on. Florida, mom there is a great reciepe on several low carb boards for a deep dish pizza. It's mainly made with cheeses and eggs, but boy is it good. I had a taste for pizza last night, and that is exactly what I made. I know this isn't supposed to be a low carb diet, but some of the menu's and receipes that they have really can help on the beach. Look it up. It's simple to make!

Disneymom, step away from the cake! :) I know how hard that is. I was never a big Ice cream eater before this, but cake, brownies and chocolate chip cookies is another story. Stay strong!

s&k'smom, how is everything going? I know you are probably feeling and looking so much better, keep up the good work

Everything is good Sheree, staying on Phase I two extra days as I had to semi cheat days this week. Then I can finally add some fruit back which I really miss!!!!!

Hi everyone - congrats to everyone doing so well and for those who have strayed or are straying, come on back to the beach ! I include myself in that second group :) - I just got back from a week long vacation at Squam Lake in NH and I pretty much ate what I wanted to .....on plan sometimes, off plan quite a bit ..... ice cream, cheez-its (my all time favorite snack), fried clams and onion rings....you get the picture ! I did go work out at Curves every morning though and did quite a lot of swimming.....I weighed myself at Curves at the end of the week and I hadn't gained so I considered that a win....now that I'm home it's back to the beach for me ..... but I enjoyed the break ! Enjoy the rest of the weekend !

Sheree, thanks for tip about the deep-dish pizza. I will definitely try that!

Disneymom, it's great to have you back here! The mountainview may be fun once in a while, but the beach is where it's at. :rotfl:

Hi everyone. It seems we are dealing with all the temptations summer has to offer. I was TOTALLY off the beach yesterday (went to a fair/festival and the rest is history) and stepped on the scale with trepidation this morning! Down one lb, so I guess I did not do too badly over the whole week. I still STRUGGLE with finding South Beach stuff on the go or for quick meals. HOW do you SB veterans do it? If you are "out" all day what do you get for a quick meal or snack on SB? I find I stick to the beach at home really well, and I think that is keeping me sane and losing. It is just hard when I am rushing around. I do find my taste buds are changing though and this makes me happy. Some things that I try are just too sweet now! I have been keeping up my exercise efforts so that is helping a lot.

You can always go to Subway for a wrap, or try Popeyes Na*ed Chicken strips. Those are really good. Plus I guess in a pinch a bunless hamburger. The chicken nuggets form Chick-fil-a don't have much carbs in it plus you can now pair that with some fruit and a diet lemonade (which is really good since it's fresh!) How about a salad, that always works.

I had the chicken nuggets today from Chic-fil-a because DS and I were out running errands. I asked for a nutritional guide several weeks ago, because I knew that would be a place I would go to a lot. The 8 piece nuggets have 12 grams of carbs. There is no skin on their chicken, and it's white meat, so all in all, not a bad choice.

I had my weekly step on the scale this morning. Down three more lbs! So, I've lost a total of 22 lbs. I've lost one dress size -- 18W to 16W, although the 18Ws still stay on, so I'm still wearing them because I don't want to go out and buy new clothes yet. It just seems like losing sizes is taking longer than I thought, but I know, it doesn't happen overnight.

My husband ordered me the Firm workout with our Netflix subscription so that I could try it out. It's the one that includes a short pilates routine, too. I'm trying to shake it up a little bit with my exercise. I'm still going everyday to the Y but getting just a little bit bored with it, so I'm going to try some at-home work outs on occasion and see how that goes.

:wave2: Hi there, South Beach residents. I have been sorta on the beach for one week and a couple of days now -- I say sort of because 1) I am incorporating both phase one and two together and 2) I've cheated some.

But, I still lost 4 pounds in one week!!!!! Oh yeah! (even though I can't eat bananas!)

And, I thank all of you and Pearlieg's journal for your inspiration!

Floridamom, wtg on making a good food choice. Sometimes it is extremely hard to do. Remeber that Chick-fil-a has some great salads too.

wickey's friend, welcome. What part of Texas are you in? The beach is a wonderful place to be and we invite you to come back more often!!!!!

Hi wickey's friend and welcome to the beach! I think you'll find it flexible enough for you and still see results.

Sheree, thanks for the tips on the salads. I have had their chargrilled chicken salad twice now, and I think it's pretty good. It's just hard to eat while I'm driving! :teeth:

I know what you mean about that. Subway is my fav. place to go so I can eat a wrap filled with whatever my little hearts desire!!!! Then in the car I go, and no problems. I was a chick-fil-a fanatic before this diet. My fav. place to eat. Now in moderation, I can still have it and not gain anything back!!!!!!!

Good morning well I've started Phase II slowly. yesterday I had a few carrots and a yogurt which I just love. But had a nice healthy salad for dinner. This am I'm gonna eat my bran cereal with blueberries which is so yummy!
