South Beach Dieters Thread ??? Anyone???

No, these are the ricotta cheese desserts that are in the SB book (recipes included).

I don't have the book. I get my recipes from here, but I ignore the desserts. I like Jell-O, string cheese, peanut butter, grapefruit and nuts for snacks.

I'm a total dessert person. But I also love meat. Mmmmm...steak. :lovestruc

This is day 4 and things are still going fine. I'm trying to cook a diversity of meals to keep DD interested -- she doesn't like too many veggies, so that's been a big problem (though I've snuck cabbage in on her on Tuesday and will sneak eggplant in tonight -- if she doesn't see me cook it, it's not there).

Last night was tilapia with a lemon squeezed over it, a can of artichoke hearts and salsa .. it's a good quick meal and tastes so good!

I've always concluded that food smells better than it tastes, anyway -- so I've been enjoying the free smells around here today. The "Breakfast Club" this morning (someone brings breakfast in for everyone on Friday's) was a southern-style breakfast -- grits, biscuits, scrambled eggs, sausage patties and big sausage ... Thank goodness I'd already eaten the omelet I'd brought in.

Cooking every night has been a drag, so I may do some cooking of a lot of meat on the weekend so I won't have to prepare that every night.

Yep, on SBD you will find yourself making all of your meals yourself and washing dishes. I'm used to it now. I'm in my 8th week now.

I'm glad you're sticking to it! 4 days is wonderful. I know some who have foiled on the 2nd day. Don't even think about the time, keep going!!!!! :goodvibes

Not only are you eating healthier, your DD is too and that's always a good thing.

There is a lake somewhat near our house with a trail around the perimeter. It's a mile long and the quarter miles are marked off.

I'm going to start going there with Tiny Man when dh is at work.

I need to get walking. I'm lazy. :lmao: Get marchin'! I hope you get as many laps as possible out of it.

Hi there,
I am thinking about trying the South Beach again. My question is, is it ok to start with phase 2? Last time I tried South Beach and started with Phase 1, by day 2 or 3 ( I can't remember) I was so sick, shaking, dizzy, sick to my stomach I had to quit. I just finished breastfeeding, I think, it's been two days. I don't have a whole lot to lose about 5-10 pounds. But I'm 5'0" so that much makes a big difference. The nursing took off alot, but if I keep eating like I have been while nursing, I will be in big trouble. So is it cruicial to the plan to start with phase 1, is it like a detox thing? Thanks!

I think they want you to start with Phase I.

Okay, girls -- Shirataki Noodles .... I had made a "spaghetti without spaghetti" the other night -- lean ground beef, tomatoes, tomato sauce, sliced eggplant that I'd boiled in beef broth (to disguise it's existence from my DD). It made a big pyrex dish ... I bought Shirataki Noodles and they were fine! I warned DD they were a bit chewy, but what a blessing. I can see making a cold Thai salad with these (chicken, cilantro, green onions, rice vinegar).

I am so sorry! I am subscribed to this thread but didn't get alerted! Forgive me please.

To rid your body of toxins, sugar cravings and to get your body ready for a new way of eating, you will need to do P1 first. There is no getting around this. In P1, you lose only water weight and that's good because after the end of P1 that weight stays off.

And yep, P1 is like detox. There is no reason for you to be sick or to feel hungry. The one mistake people make is that they take the P1 meal plan literally. I did and it was a silly mistake. In P1, the min. veggies to eat for breakfast is 1/2 a cup. The minimum so you can eat well over a 1/2 a cup of veggies. I was eating like two cups :lmao: of veggies and it was mostly salads with mushrooms, sprouts, different types of leaves, cucumber, avocado (this is an oil so watch out for avocados), etc. So go overboard on the veggies. Some say don't go over 3 oz. of protein but I did. When you factor out that you're not eating the regular way you were before (the bad way) and that you're eating healthier now eating more of the good stuff will not hurt you.

Also, never miss a snack. Never ever ever miss a snack. Snacks are crucial to dropping weight.

Anymore questions, I'm here. Another thing, if you're going to do the SBD don't give up before you start. What I mean is, give it a chance because it really does work. Starting out on any diet is frustrating, but when you see the results of the people who were on SBD (which they stay on for life, that is P3) it will motivate you so get motivated.

Oh and drink your waters!

Hey, I'm sorry for not being here. I didn't know this thread had gotten any new responses!!!! So sorry, but I'm back.

Did you start P1 yet? If so, cut out the ground beef (even lean) and use ground sirloin or ground any of the beef that is allowed on the P1 Food List. Ground beef is loaded with fat and on SBD you want to cut out the fats, sugars and bad carbs. Some people say that you can eat anything in moderation, well, it's not true for everybody and SBD has specific rules for everyone so the ground beef has been exiled.

I used ground chicken breast, ground turkey breast in my spaghetti. I just make sure to season my poultry the best I can before adding it to the pasta, but I only did this P2 and NOT in P1 because I don't like the Shirataki noodles. I like the whole wheat noodles and it's only allowed in P2.

Ok my fellow south beach dieters, I have made it to another milestone! Today I woke up, weighed in (as I do every morning) and found that I have lost 25.2 lbs. total. Today is my last day of week 9 on the South Beach Diet!!! I get to change my WISH image from 20 to 25. :cool1:

OK so I switched from FitDay over to SparkPeople. I like SparkPeople better.

thank you for the responses. I actually made it three days and caved. Now I have to get myself ready to start again. Thanks for the suggestions and answers, they are helpful.

Yep, you can always start over! Cheering you on! :goodvibes

Wowey...this thread died quick!

I just wanted to report that I am now down to 37lbs. lost!!!! Last time I posted my weight I was 25.2lbs down and I was 9 weeks into my new diet. I am currently in my 16th week and I've added in fitness about a two weeks ago to go from 30lbs. down to 35lbs. down and I've been in heaven every since.

13lbs. to go!!!! :goodvibes

I thought Lean ground beef was okay in Phase 1. A beef chili recipe is in one of the SB cookbooks for Phase 1. How is ground sirloin different, besides being more expensive.;)

Also does anyone have any good Phase 1 recipes using left over pork tenderloin?
