Now I just need a bit of clarification on hand luggage.
I've just been on the virgin website and it states that hand luggage should measure no more than 9 x 14 x 22 inches. Now my DD8 has a roll along case that she really wants to take, I've just measured it and it measures 7x11x21 but thats not including the wheels at the bottom or the pull along handle. If I measure it including the handle and wheels it measures 8x11x24.
Do you think that I would be ok to go with the measurements of the case without the wheels and handle?
Before Virgin changed their luggage allowance, my DD just took this as her second case for checked luggage, but its not big enough now we only have 1 case each IYKWIM?
If I can't take it as hand luggage, we'll just have to leave it at home.

Suitcases and hotels. One way to keep her happy! I am going to get something from the loft this evening so I will measure it and give you the exact dimensions. I know it was borderline though and slightly over with wheels and handle so I think it is about the same as yours.
On my case the depth and width are slightly bigger than yours. They height with the handles is about half an inch shorter though, but it has a little stand thing at the bottom (looks like stoppers) which I didn't fully take into account, hoping they wouldn't either - and apparently they never have, even on domestic flights.
:

It will mainly be just stuff for the plane and a change of clothes and her Pj's seeing as we are going to be leaving our check in luggage for ME to pick up, so hopefully it shouldn't weigh too much
It fitted though so the guy didn't have to pay any more ££, he just had to carry the cage with him for the rest of the flight
