Sorry and thank you

Sorry for wasting your time it looks like my family wants to visit Harry Potter instead

What is the Harry Potter ride like

Much more Potterish than Mouselike.

Actually, since the board we are now on is primarily about WDW,
you might want to post this question on the DISboard's
Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure Forum... HERE.

There are multiple Harry Potter rides and lands. Each Universal park, Studios and Islands of Adventure, has a Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There is 1 attraction/ride in Islands and 2 in Studios. There is a also a train that goes between the two lands and requires a park hopper/park-to-park ticket to ride. In the Studios, the Wizarding World is called Hogsmeade, the village near Hogwart's Castle. There's a a ride in the castle and small kiddy coaster next to the castle. The ride in the castle is called Forbidden Journey and is probably the most thrilling ride at any theme park. The Wizarding World at Islands of Adventure is Diagon Alley and has a ride themed to the goblin bank, Gringott's. It's a tamer ride than Forbidden Journey and is a dark ride with short coaster-like bits.

A good way to learn more about potter and the darkside parks, read the trip
reports forum

You’ll learn how others toured potterville
Many include pictures and explain the rides, shops, entertainment, etc

That’s the best way.

Read as much info as you can from trip reports and do a search for the reviews of the ride. Some describe it very well. There are lots of threads about the ride and Potter in general.

Not to be a fuss-budget, but this is backwards. Studios is Gringott's ride & Diagon Alley (also Knockturn Alley and Horizont Alley with 2 shows.)
Islands has the castle (Forbidden Journey) ride and the kiddie coaster (Hippogriph) and is Hogsmeade.

Doh! Total brain fart on that one. Thanks for catching that.

Studios = Diagon Alley = Gringott's
Islands = Hogsmeade = Forbidden Journey & Hippogriff

Not sure but my family is hosting and we have not seen Harry Potter yet would you recommend MK over Harry Potter

Tink, they’re very different places.

But, I’m sure if you went to Universal you would enjoy it. As Mac says over in these boards we love Universal despite many folks here going to Disney too.

Universal really is a magical place in its own right........did you look at some trip report pictures of the Universal parks? That may give you and idea of the place if you don’t know much about it......Potter areas are particularly spectacular.

Have some fun researching it a little and ask if you’re not sure on anything, we are here to help........:)

Can you maybe give us an actual rundown of your trip scenario??? Your single line statements don't give us much to go on. How big is your group, ages, likes/dislikes as far as theme parks, length of trip, staying onsite (deluxe or standard) offsite???

The amount of planning, what little you need to do for Universal, hinges on time of year and whether you have Express Pass (via deluxe resort, or indivdual purchase) or not. Park to Park tickets are also needed if you have big HP fans coming with you.

JMHO but doesn’t matter how great an experience is, if you go into it with a closed mind; you will likely hate it.

Hard to read emotions in a short post but it appears as tho you were planning on visiting the MK & possibly not happy to shift gears. Understandable after putting work into planning a trip.

You need to start at square one & read thru the forum. Perhaps look at one of the touring guide blogs/guidebooks to get an initial feel for it, then come back with specific questions.

Agree with the need for park to park tix for the full HP experience. Make sure to point that out to your family as to budgeting. Not quite sure what you mean by posting but, depending on the time year & any transportation costs from your resort (WDW?) the park to park tix will likely cost more than 1 day @ MK
