We tried it last October with our DS8 and can't wait to go back to play again. My son has been to the MK 10+ times, so it was great for something new and different to do.
The game takes some time so wouldn't suggest it to first time visitors. It would be frustration because of the time it would take - finding locations, lines at portals and other MK fun.
At Walmart or Dollar type store, you can buy a holder. If you are ready to play and trade, a holder would be very helpful.
Don't forget to get the special cards on party nights.
We bought the game while we were there so we could play with the cards when we got back.
