So, we closed (within 24 hours of them receiving ours and the sellers’ docs---crazy fast!) on 160 pts at SSR.

I already have rooms booked (cash w/ AP discount) for 10/1-2, but now the wheels are turning (I honestly didn’t think everything would go this fast…we only made the offer on 6/21!)…

I’m wondering if there would be a shot to be able to book a couple of studios through DVC instead.

Everything I’ve read on here seems to tell me that October is crazy busy, but is that only for Columbus Day and later? Is the first weekend a possibility? (We don’t need BWV or BCV…and I know the marathon is going on, so I’m not getting my hopes up; just gathering opinions.)

Congratulations on your purchase. I didn't realize there was a marathon in October. I know for sure there is one in January. There is however, the Food and Wine Festival in October and yes, this makes DVC a busy time. If you are not picky on which resort and what size room you get, I think you will be able to find something but you should get on it ASAP.

This thread does not confirm that there is or is not availability at the various DVC resorts as the information provided is given by DVC members and not all DVC members post here. However, it will give you an idea where you might be able to get a studio or if you want to splurge a 1 BR for the dates you are interested in. Calling member services will give you better information.

It does look like some studios are available at SSR but even OKW is starting to fill in for early October. The Food and Wine Festival, the new night time marathon, Mouse Adventure (A quest/adventure game by MousePlanet) and MNSSHP really draw in guests during October. So I would suggest calling MS as soon as your points are in your account.

Thanks! I’m now waiting with bated breath for our points…I haven’t been this impatient throughout the entire process! I guess since we’re so close to the finish line, I want it now.

I’ve never heard about MouseQuest…very interesting.

We booked over a month ago for Oct 2-9 and there was availability only at SSR at that time for a studio that first weekend. From reading various posts, it doesn't look tlike there is much out there but if you need only a few days, you may be ok. (Last week VWL was available for that Saturday, the 2nd - I'm syure it's gone now but at least some things had opened up.)

That’s kind of the vibe I was getting from previous reading and was afraid of, but we have a back-up and I won’t be too terribly disappointed if we can’t use our points. DH would actually prefer to just keep everything as is, but I feel that we’ve got the points now and I wanna use ‘em right now!

Welcome Home and Congratulations from Mickey, Goofy, and Me! When wondering if something is available you're never going to know unless you call - so call early and call often because people cancel. Just a reminder If I remember correctly you have until 45 days out to cancel those CRO reservations without incurring a penalty. But don't cancel them until your DVC reservation is confirmed. When I joined DVC I was in a similar situation, wanting to cancel a CRO reservation and use points. Good luck! Here's some pixie dust that everything works out.
