to go to WDW with all the fp mess.

The only time it looks like we'd be able to go would be in the super busy times this year & if we can't get fp then I don't see how it would be feasible to think we can see or do anything.

:listen:

It's not a once in a lifetime trip for us - we were there last year.

We were there last month during New Year's Eve and we didn't think it was a mess at all.

We planned it right and still rode everything we wanted to with minimal wait times. The longest wait we had was TT which was about 20 minutes.

It's really not that bad... at all.

Depends on your definition of a mess. Some we're reporting that yesterday was terrible and others said that the lines went quickly and they had no problems. SB wait times yesterday evening after 6:00 were amazingly short.

So I'm reading that now is not the time to go to WDW with all the fp mess.

Rubbish. Like a PP, we went during NY week, it was great! Will be there next week, our 3 time with FP+ and magic bands. If you never went to WDW because of people on these boards complaining, you would never go. Past, present or future! I'm going, and I will have a GREAT time!!!

Only you know how dependent your strategy is upon fast passes, and how flexible your family would be if that strategy were no longer possible. I thought that I knew how I "needed" to tour WDW, then I went in January and found a whole new way to tour and had a great time.

We are all too different for anyone else to properly answer this for you.

We are going in 2 weeks and think it will be fine, I think its nice being able to reserve in advance

We were there Sept 2013 and we thought it was AMAZING! Not one hitch the entire 8 days we were there!

I really have no idea what this mess supposedly is. Maybe I'm fortunate but we've had no issues with FP+ that can't be fixed in 2 minutes or less, and we don't have to go around running for FPs anymore. I'm sorry for the others who are having issues, but we've had no issues at all.

We went right days over Thanksgiving break and had no issues with the new fast pass system. I even lost my original band and had to get a replacement. We're headed there again in less than three weeks. We can't wait!

Was there in early Dec, used FP+, had a great time. Was there a few weeks ago, just for a night, used FP+ again, it was fine.. I'm going, with dh and dd, the first week in June...looking forward to all of us using FP+. And probably again in Nov. But....our touring has never been defendant on getting multiple FPs...not back before FP+, not now. So it's just not that big a deal for us. It's nice to be able to plan ahead and know that we will be able to ride certain things when we want to.
If you're the type of park goer that likes to try for multiple FPs for the same attraction each day, then the new system won't make you happy. We just tend to be more laid back. No more commando touring for us....my family rebelled against that after our third trip!!

I'm with the "what mess" people. Haven't been since FastPass Plus started for a variety of personal reasons but am returning next month just for the concert at the Flower and Garden Festival. We live eight hours away, have Annual Passes, have read tons about the FastPass Plus, will be staying offsite for this trip (again, personal reasons) so we won't even have the 60 days prior to make our attractions choices. But you know what? I don't care!

I'm leaving all that garbage behind, going on vacation, and will enjoy myself and being with my husband! I will get whatever FastPasses I can on that morning (or afternoon - I'm on vacation, I'm not on a time schedule!) and then just chill. Yep - vacation. Days off from the daily grind, the work routine, the neighbor's dog barking at 5:55 AM (we get up at 6:00 AM), the traffic, the hustle and the bustle.

OP - it's your vacation and you can make it be whatever you want but for this person, it's freedom.

I am an anti fp+ person. But in the busy season, I can see where it might come in handy. Get to park at RD and be busy for a couple hours "running" to your priority rides. Make you fp selections for the afternoon. Have a nice leisurely lunch. Ride the fp rides. Shop a little. Go back to resort for nice swim. Go out to dinner. Swim again at night.

Again, I hate certain aspects of fp+. But I wouldn't let it keep me away and in fact, there may be advantages during a busy time.

yes but the OP is talking about going at the busy time of the year not the quiet time!!!!! all you one that have had such an "amazing" time have never gone in the height of summer yet!!!!! go summer and try it then come back and be so confident!!

I think it depends on how much you relied on FP's. We were always there at the busiest times ( Spring Break, Easter and New Year's ) and were hardly ever able to get a FP so we couldn't use them. We still had a great time and relied on the EMH for the different parks. I also think you have to see how it goes for you before judging the whole system. Not everyone thinks it's a mess and you may not either. We still went to the parks without EMH and were able to ride the rides we wanted to and it didn't hurt our experience.

we definitely use fp when we are there. but the last couple of times we have been it wasn't @ peak times.

stop you from going. If you are a smart (and usually being here on DIS means you are ) WDW visitor then the change in the FP system is not going to affect you terribly... If you go at RD and do things right You can get through almost everything you want without A FP. we've done that for years. WHen they stopped letting you use FP's long after the window on them closed... yeah it was a bummer but then we realized that it was good! It got us to Park hop a LOT more , infact we felt more free in our planning. NOW... you know what.. I am glad about the new FP+ because I KNOW we can ride everything we want as usual when we get there for RD, and NOW we know we can ride the big rides we want at the park we are at in the evening (which now is almost ALWAYS different from our morning) after dinner.
So there are always people who thrive on the negative (if there wasn't then we wouldn't have News Networks). WDW is great place and like every part of your life it changes. So how you do things there changes. this way it is different as you and yourkids grow up.. How boring it would be if we still had to buy Ticket booklets JUST like they did in 1971...

Haters gonna hate lol. We're going for our Spring Break March 9-14...we're expecting crowds but still planning on having fun! :thumbsup2

I'm seeing posts from one end of the spectrum to the other. We did RD every day AND relied on legacy FP bigtime, but we're greedy.....total ride junkies.

We're used to the higher attendance of late June, I'm just hoping the the little hiccups will work themselves out by then. We can be flexible in the sense that planning 2, 3 or more months in advance isnt horrendous, but admittedly, its not preferred.

But as far as people who posted they went in Sept with no problems, FP+ has had changes even just since then , so a trip then cannot be an accurate guide for a trip this week, spring break season or summer.

Time will tell
We WILL have a blast! I just hope it will be at least equal to the blast we have had previous years.

I don't understand "now is not the time". AFAIK there is no indication from WDW that anything will change with the current FP+ rules. There is speculation that the 3 FP limit might go up, or that park-hopping will be allowed, or that tiers will go away (or even implemented at MK)...

but all of that is just speculation (or comments from CMs). The only certainty is that FP- will not return.

Now is as good a time as any.
