<font color=navy>Hi all ....

I'm putting together a slide show for my dd's 8th grade graduating class (pictures include their 8th grade year, plus pics from nursery school on up). I have some songs, but will need about 3-4 more to last through the show....

I would really appreciate some suggestions.

So far, I have:

We Go Together (from Grease-ending song)
I'll Be There for You (theme from Friends)
Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Remember the Titans)
Friends Forever (Saved by the Bell)

I'm looking for 'friends' themes or songs that people like to sing to, like 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'

I'll be looking forward to your replies/suggestions.

THANKS!!!

mj

Off the top of my head there's that song by Randy Newman(?) ...it's featured in one of those Disney/Pixar movies(Toy Story or a bug's life)..."You've got a friend in me"...

...lots of "friend" themed songs...wouldn't you know ...can't think of a one at the moment...:)

Oh...a graduation standard...but how about "Lean On Me"?

And the "Friendship" song from I Love Lucy...

If you're ever in a jam
Here I am
If you're ever in a mess
S.O.S...

This isn't really a "friends" song, but more a song from parent to child. If you can fit it in, there won't be a dry eye in the house!

"If I Could" - Regina Belle

How about Bette Midler's.. You gotta have friends.. lalalalalalala.. Friends..

Marsha, that one was my high school graduating class theme song (1975) "Oh you've got to have friends, la la la la la la la la, friends........" :)

Another one I was thinking of is the song from the movie Anastasia (OK not Disney, I know) I don't know the name of it but the lyrics include "Life is a road, now and forever......... wonderful journey" and at the end "I'll be there when the world stops turning, I'll be there when the storm is through, in the end I want to be standing at the beginning, with you" Though it was a love-story the song is an upbeat tune quite appropriate to mark their journey through grammar school as they embark ont he path to high school!
Have fun......I love projects like that!! :)

the song from Anastasia might have been by Aaliyah

How about Vitaim C's Gradutaion(I know, overused city:) ) or Free to Wear Sunscreen(no idea who)

My senior class used "This Is The Time You'll Remember" or something like that for a slide show on our senior retreat.

I LOVE "Time of Your Life" by Green Day. It was played on the series finale of "Seinfeld".

<font color=navy>Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions.

My dd liked the song from Anastasia and we added that, and they also chose "You'll Be in My Heart" from the Tarzan soundtrack.

Marla, my dd would kill me if I put in "Make New Friends" -- I sang that to them, and they looked at me like I had two heads.

Right now, the other song they have is "Can't Help Falling in Love" by the A Teens (from Lilo & Stitch). I might change that to Time of Your Life (is that the same one from Dirty Dancing?) & I'll check out You've Gotta Have Friends by Bette Midler - not sure how that one goes.

Thanks everyone -- a friend at work just asked me for ideas, so I'm going to put all of them on a cd for his own reunion slide show. :)

Happy Monday!!!!!!!! :sunny:

Mary Jo, the "Time of Your Life" I'm talking about is not the same as the Dirty Dancing song. If you can find it somewhere it's worth a listen. I think it would be perfect for what you're doing.

I think Green Day's Time of Your life would be GREAT for this. Also, Shania Twain's "your still the one".

Probably more geared to High school than junior high, but a great "friends" song.

"My Friend" by Plus One
from the CD "The Promise"

We are standing at the crossroads
And now it's time
For you to go your way
And me to go mine
I will pray the Lord
Will keep you safe
Until the day I see your face again

Chorus
My friend
We have been through so much
And you have been my Godsend
With your sure and steady love
My friend
You know I will be there
If you ever need
'Cause you've always
Been a friend to me

I may travel the world over
But one thing I know for sure
One day this road will lead me
Back 'round to your door
I will pray the Lord
Will keep you safe
Some bonds are just too strong
To break in the end

Chorus

Nothing will change the way
I feel about you
Not the miles or the years
Or the place this life takes me to

Chorus

another really good graduation-type song is one that came out a year or 2 ago..."Here's to the Night" by Eve 6
