Sometimes kids just don't get it...

My MIL passed away this past spring, very sudden. She was burried on Easter Sunday. Julia (4 yrs) has had a very hard time with the loss of "meme".

Tonight we were at dinner and Julia said "Mommy, I don't want Meme to died. I want her to come back alive. I am going to ask Tinkerbell when we go back to Disney world to make my Meme alived"

I told her Tinkerbell is amazing and lots of Pixie Dust... so she was welcome to ask her, but I didn't think even Tinkerbell would be able to help her bring back Meme.

*sniff* Sometimes its just so hard to help little ones understand......

OMG what a sweetie! Story broke my heart. Give her a hug from me. I am sorry you lost your MIL and she lost her Meme.

Has Julia seen Bambi yet? Pretty good Disney flick that gets the story of life and death across.

Julia isn't up for watching Bambi or even Shrek.... maybe 2? One of them Fiona's mom or dad dies..... It was on last week and she totally lost it. She is very upset by anything that has death she cries and cries.

My grandmother passed away almost 2 yrs ago and she went to that visitation, but she didn't "get it". That loss was much harder on Jared because he "got it" for the first time. Meme Jared understood and its much harder on Julia. Jared is relating Meme with the death of his birthmother. I think he is working through that right now. On fathers day we went down to my husbands family reunion. After we left he went by the cemetary. Julia *had* to go with daddy. That was just an exhausting day. I know she went to the visitation, but we did not have them at the funeral... and while we are in the country in a very history rich area, I guess we have never discussed *what* a cemetary actually is. She totally melted down that her Meme had dirt on her and she was in the cold ground.... Poor kid.

All 3 are doing well.... aside from the "death" issue. Daddy came home today after being gone for a week. I am hoping he takes our 2 off to a movie tomorrow! Quiet time for mommy! Saddly, he didn't bring home a 2nd wife from Utah. I was really hoping he would find one that cleans....

Aw, Beth, my heart is breaking for Julia. Unfortunately there's no easy way to explain death or make it any easier for her. Give her a big hug for me!

Daddy came home today after being gone for a week. I am hoping he takes our 2 off to a movie tomorrow! Quiet time for mommy! Saddly, he didn't bring home a 2nd wife from Utah. I was really hoping he would find one that cleans....

Hope you get some quiet time this weekend! Don't spend it cleaning.
