I found out that I am very limited in my picture taking at WDW. Oh I take plenty of pictures but it is always of family, buildings, animals and characters. I know now that I have really missed a whole lot. What bought on this amazing insight, the photo contest. So many of them I didn't have pictures for and it makes me kind of sad that I missed so much. Yes I am photo challanged. :guilty:

I am a people watcher but did I ever think of taking picures of them, no. I also never thought about taking pictures of food, flowers, the everyday cast members that are not dressed like the all important characters that everyone goes to see. So thanks so much for opening my eyes to what I have missed.

It's funny at home I take pictures of everything, you name it, I probably have some kind of picture. I guess I am just so excited when I get WDW I don't think of taking those special pictures. So thanks again for this board and all you people that take such wonderful pictures. :thumbsup2

I see SOOOO much more of WDW when I "look through the lens of the camera". Since DD and I are local, we are there often, and as beautiful as the castle is there are only so many pics you can take of it from Main St (that being said - I still do take one every time we walk onto Main St - as the sky is always different, etc), however, with all the 50th Anniversary decorations I have started looking up and at odd angles.

I find it fun to take pics of signs - parking lot signs, rest room signs, ride signs, etc. If we go too many days between trips to "The World" I go through withdrawl!

Each time we go I try and get a new perspective on something I have photographed before!

I love this PHOTOGRAPHY board and have learned so much!

One of the really great things about digital is what I call, "the freedom to shoot". With "free" film, there is no longer any real constraint on taking lots of pix, and learning more about your camera, as well as "seeing" photographically, in the process. You can always delete the ones that don't make the cut!

I enjoy taking pictures of signs too. There are some very clever ones at WDW. Also, I scrapbook, and those sign pictures (along with pictures of other random inanimate objects) make for some fun "filler" on my pages rather than using the same old stickers and other "embellishments." I'm doing similar things with other trips that we take.

Sometimes people look at me when I am taking a picture like I am nuts, LOL. Those usually are the best. :teeth: It is easy to miss 'the roses', but keeping your eyes open, you will see those opportunities. Take pictures of everything, from all angles and with all lighting.

I have to agree. Some of my favorite pictures that I took this past weekend, were the ones that had me in all sorts of funny positions. DH was starting to get frustrated with me sitting down to take pics!! They turned out pretty good though if I do say so myself.

I was thinkin' that myself, just yesterday. Last trip I was trying to get whole buildings into the shot and forgetting about macro compositions altogether.
