Something That I've Been Thinking About...

It's actually, not sick or wrong. If it were, most kids who were born with an illness wouldn't exist, and conjoined twins wouldn't be alive.
Besides, some illnesses do get better in time. Remission DOES happen. And I wouldn't give my childs life away when there's a chance they could get better.

But why would you want them to have to suffer for so long? That's just so horrible.

As science progresses, cures for many diseases could be discovered. Why not let the child live in case of a cure? I could NEVER kill my own child. It would kill me as well.

You'd be surprised how very many orphans there are. And if there was a child limit that doesn't mean people couldn't sneak around and have more kids.

And the same exact thing you said applies to dogs and cats. What are you going to do when there are no more? Let them breed freely for a while again!

That's basically another loophole in your argument. The government probably would do a poor job of keeping tabs on those people. It's kind of pointless to make sterilization mandatory.
Orphans would run out. In a world where there's so many who can't have children and where gay marriage is legal in more places, the amount of orphans would probably be reduced rather quickly.
And if sterilzation became mandatory, that'd just be another group who would adopt.

And then after a while, there wouldn't be that option for people.
And then I'd think people'd start hoping for freak accidents so people could go adopt kids.

Good thing I'm not having a kid then. I had mono.

I know many people who have had mono (most of the high school has) but thats not going to stop them from having kids later. Mono is an illness that most people get at some point in there life or if they don't they might be a carrier. From the basics of human biology i know almost everyone has some sort of illness or disease they will pass on to there children weather it be simple like asthma or more serious like the few types of cancer. I'm going to have kids when i get older even if i have asthma and eczema. They don't affect your life to bad and they sure are a hassle but i want to bring a life in to this world and will do so regardless if a population control rule is put into affect

Could you please explain to me how overpopulation is the reason for all the bad stuff?

Thank you.

Factory farms: Why do we need so much meat and why must meat animals get hormones to make them grow faster? They need hormones to grow faster so they can be sent to slaughter sooner. We need factory farms because there are too many people for family farms to provide for.

Global Warming: This one's pretty obvious. The more people, the more people there are polluting.

Rain Forests Being Destroyed: When there are a lot of people it calls for a lot of houses to be built and farms to be settled. Houses require a lot of wood, and wood comes from trees. People need food, and a lot of people need a lot of food.

Habitat Destruction: Houses/farms being built to support more people destroy habitat.

Those are just a few.

Humans aren't the only things hurting the environment, you know.

I wouldn't want them to suffer, but some children, they're strong.
The thing is, personally, if I had been born into suffering, even if it felt horrible, I couldn't ever of asked my parents to kill me as a baby, or during pregnancy. I don't think I could do that to parents, in general. I think, even in life if there's suffering, there are good things too. Cancer patients, and other patients with other terminal illnesses to see good things in life, they do get to have happy days and live through many things.
I can't deny someone a life.
And if it were ever too much for my child, and my child was certain they couldn't go on... I think I'd have a long talk with them. But I don't know... the thought of someone who would be something that was part of me, I don't know if I could justify doing that to them.

I'm not saying to kill your own kid. Not have the thing in the first place... Duh...

Wow, people really would be greedy then if two kids just couldn't possibly be enough, eh?

How do you KNOW that you child would have a disease? I'd have it anyway. I'm against abortion, so if it's fertilized, it's going to come out unless tragedy strikes.

Humans aren't the only things hurting the environment, you know.

Tell me what else is. And even though some other things might be, humans are the main problem.

I'll take AIDS for example. If my mom had me when she knew she had AIDS, just because she wanted a kid, and I had AIDS, I'd be pretty pissed that I would have to live my entire life taking meds just because she wanted a kid.

I'm neither for or against abortion. I believe it's right under certain circumstances.
Not in th ecase the child might be ill.
There's a chance the doctor could be wrong. That happens. And even so, there's chances the illness might not be bad.
You can have an illness and not have it affect you until late in life. And at that point, a person is glad they got those experiences. They had a childhood, and whatever else they experienced before it starts taking affect.

How do you KNOW that you child would have a disease? I'd have it anyway. I'm against abortion, so if it's fertilized, it's going to come out unless tragedy strikes.

Well if you have a disease that you know you have, like AIDS, you'd know. Read the whole thread, dude.

And you're a guy, and I don't think guy's should have ANY say whatsoever in whether or not a woman wants an abortion if she can have one.

We don't need meat. We can eat vegetables and fruits...

I don't believe in global warming. It was cooler here then it has been in many years and the whole thing behind global warming was it increased .18 degrees Celsius in 100 years

I don't think you put much value on human life.
At all.
Taking meds, it's not bad. People do it every day, more than once. Actually, it's usually a part of getting old. Just in the case of AIDS, you'd be taking it at a younger age and you'd probably take it more frequently.
And I don't think, I would be pissed at my mother. She might have a different set of morals than I do, and she probably loved me from the moment she knew. Once a person is pregnant, or is a mother... I think things change from them a bit. I can't say, I wouldn't know. But for most people, that's how it is.

I think guys can have a valid reason too about abortion. Its the same as a nonpregnant woman.

Animals are hurting the enviro just as much as humans are. Their waste isn't exactly roses. Animals also hunt others to extinction. Science dudes just don't talk about that much.

If your mother had AIDS, and you were born with it, you would still love your mother because she loves you. When a child is born, you instantly fall in love with it. It's an instinct. It's beautiful when a mother looks into her baby's eyes for the first time.

Excuse me. Are you bringing the fact that I'm a male into this?

Actually, guys should have a say.
Not the larger part. But I'm sick of people saying that guys are heartless and just out there to have sex and toy with our emotions.
There are decent guys out there.
And maybe that unwed father, really cares for that girl. Maybe he will stick around. Maybe he was actually just about to propose. What if he actually feels love for a child that is just as much his as the mothers. No, it's not his body, but it is his child.
But after he's said his say, it's ultimately up to the mother to make the decision. But she should at least talk to him first.

I disagree there. The guy obviously had some say in getting the woman pregnant. In my opinion the father of the child has just as much say in if his offspring lives or not. If the woman no longer wants it and the man does then let him have the child but its not just the womans offspring. She didn't get pregnant alone and there fore doesn't have complete control over that matter

I think the guy should get some say.
I mean, yes, ultimatley it's the womans decision. But the guy should at least have some say.
