Something That I've Been Thinking About...

I for one am glad you have decided against having children. I can't imagine someone telling their children every single day how their birth has killed thousands of animals and is killing the planet.

I understand you are really young so I know you have A LOT to learn about life and the world and human beings but using your naive attitude as an excuse is not going to get you out of the hole you have dug yourself into on this thread. I hope you look back at this when you are a lot older and realize that what you have said in this thread is a downright horrendous and disrespectful way to talk to other human beings.

I'll say it again. Read the whole thread. It's fine to have one child, even two, it's when people have 3 or more is when it starts hurting the enviroment.

Edit: I don't know how I'm being horrendous or disrespectful. How is me saying to care about animals and the enviroment disrespectful? How hard is it to not have a buttload of kids, I mean honestly!

Well you seem to think people who want to have tons of kids are stupid.
Those people generally aren't stupid. They're generally charming and sweet.

But because they wanted a house full of love and you thinkt hey're polluting the earth, you think they're stupid.

Yep, I do. You can have a house full of love without popping out kid after kid. Just like it's wrong to breed cats when there are so many homeless cats, it's wrong to have 3+ of children when you could have adopted children from other countries, orphans or children whose parents couldn't take care of them or didn't want them.

so now we are all ignorant and stupid? just keep digging that hole why don't you?

*dig dig dig*

Just like my rabbit. *pets Flopsey*

See i have read the whole thread. I read the whole incredibly painful thing. YOU started this thread talking about sterilizing human beings. YOU then got attacked for your horrific thoughts and changed it to limiting the number of children. And even after you tried to change it to just limiting, you told me, a HUMAN BEING, that it was inappropriate for me to have children because I have a medical issue. It does not matter why you think people should be sterilized or not have children or limit the number of children because the logistics of it all is still the same--you believe we are all doing something wrong because YOU think your way is the only right way to do it. The thoughts you have had on this thread are horrific and disrespectful. Everyone on this thread cares about animals and the environment but you have made that position dispicable.

Getting upset now, are we?

I never changed my mind, I said it was just a thought, which it was. *pokes thread title*

I never said it was inappropriate for you, I just said that I don't know why you'd want to risk passing a serious medical disorder on to your child or any other human being. There's more ways to get a child than from popping them out, you know.

And it's not my way, it's obvious that the more human beings there are the more damage is done to the enviroment. And doing damage to the enviroment, destroying habitats, just because people want a ton of children, is in every way you look at it, wrong. Anyone can see that. It's so clear a chicken could see it. So sure, go ahead, have as many kids as you want, but people with tons of kids better not be going around flaunting 'live green' t shirts and critisizing others who use plastic bags, etc etc.

Wait... your saying the problems of the enviroment , all of them , are because of big families .. WOW

Wait... your saying the problems of the enviroment , all of them , are because of big families .. WOW

Because of the population. Uh-huh. Use your brain, if you think about, all or at least most of the enviromental problems are all linked to the fact that there are too many people for the world to handle.

I am not upset. I have heard far worse from people my own age instead of what someone much younger than me has to say.

I was attempting to open your eyes to other people's opinions which is what an online forum is for but you obviously haven't learned that aspect of life yet and with the way you speak to other people, who knows if you will.

oh and the next time you ride in a great car, go shopping at the mall, use your nifty computer to go online, rock out to your ipod, and get the coolest new cell phone in stores...think about your florida panthers and what the materialistic, industrial society is doing to them. It is not simply overpopulation but how people are using the world in negative ways that is causing environmental problems. That is the concept behind go green.

Last time I checked, you're not opening your eyes to anything I've said so far, or any of the valid points I've made.

It has opened my eyes to how some people feel about sick people. I think your concerns about the environment and animals are valid and I never disagreed with them but I think you are focusing on the wrong aspects of what is causing such problems. I believe if you take your passion for the environment and animals and focus less on overpopulation and more on something you can control, you will get a great life experience out of it.

If you look back through history, great civilizations were not brought down because of overpopulation. They collapsed because of human indulgences. Human beings are the only species to have sex for pleasure instead of simply procreating. Everytime your animals breed they produce offspring. There is overpopulation in the animal kingdom too that is doing damage as well. I just think you need to broaden your horizons before you start expressing opinions about sterilization and who should be doing what with their bodies .

I never said anything bad about sick people, I think you're being a tad oversensitive. No offense.

That's what I plan on doing. I've never once decided 'Hmm, I should be a dictator some day'. I in fact want to be a zoologist.

What you're saying about ancient civilizations is true, although I'm talking about the world and the enviroment. Not civilizations. And back then there wasn't much you could do to harm the enviroment, people didn't leave as big of footprints, they didn't live as long, etc.

the world and the environment are civilizations...

and you basically called me a horrible person for wanting to reproduce and risk passing along a disease to my children. that's something bad about sick people. You said it in the first post of this thread too...sick people should be sterilized and not reproduce.

I'm thinking your being ignorant due to the fact your an only child...Now i may be wrong but you being an only child wouldn't understand the blessing of having many siblings.

Look at the Everglades. It's one of the few places where florida panthers live wild. They used to live all over the southeast, but due to habitat destruction caused by housing and farming, they now only occupy a puny little part of this world. You can't compare the Everglades to the entire southeast. It's not fair for those poor cats.

And sure, farming demand is partly caused by industrialization, and partly by overpopulation. But housing is 100% caused by population. If there's no people to live in certain houses, they won't build them.

Sure the everglades used to be bigger but they also would have been destroyed from natural events. And the panthers would still die. And people being told how many children they can or can't have isn't fair to those poor couples who have always dreamed of having 4 kids. Housing isn't caused 100% by population...We have tons of empty houses around here and there still being built with no one who wants to live in them.

I'm all for animals but i still believe that we shouldn't try to stop the human race just to save an animal. But i do think the human race can cut back on destroying stuff.

No, the world and the enviroment are not civilizations... o.O

I never said you were a horrible person. I just can't possibly imagine why anyone would risk passing a.. You said it could cause cancer right? ..Cancer casuing disease to another human being when they could adopt.

Use my brain? That was PRETTY rude .

Yes there are too many people , but you cant do anything about other people in this country & their family / future family size .
Also, It is not fair to say that parents dont have enough love to go around to all their children .

This whole idea is like a PG version of what hiltler did , instead of killing off the weak your taking about their right to have children, a family their manhood/womanhood .

1. An advanced state of intellectual, cultural, and material development in human society, marked by progress in the arts and sciences, the extensive use of record-keeping, including writing, and the appearance of complex political and social institutions.
2. The type of culture and society developed by a particular nation or region or in a particular epoch: Mayan civilization; the civilization of ancient Rome.
3. The act or process of civilizing or reaching a civilized state.
4. Cultural or intellectual refinement; good taste.
5. Modern society with its conveniences: returned to civilization after camping in the mountains.

The world refers to the whole world. The barren regions in the middle of Antartica are not civilizations. The enviroment refers to the world's... Well the world's envrioment. Mt. Everest has it's own enviroment and is not a civilization.

And you're saying what you said earlier wasn't rude?

Hitler wanted to create a super human, flawless race of aryan people. He killed anybody who he didn't think was fit to be in the world, but he could care less how many of his super race populated the world.

The idea of population control isn't hitler-like. It's pretty much saying 'Hey, think of the animals and your future generations, do you seriously need a crapload of kids? If you want more than two of em, adopt a few.'

Megan, I'm sorry, but you're point has several holes in it.

1: By spaying/neutering humans, you could make them feel like less of a man/woman.

2: What about the religions that don't believe in Birth Control? Are they not allowed to have sex? They believe, and myself too, that God will protect them and their families.

3: Farm country. I don't know where you live, but this area of Missouri is farm country. Everywhere you look you see cows, pigs, goats, et cetera. The farm families need someone to be able to help out with the family farm. This is usually why families around here have four and five children. They love them and they can support them physically, mentally, and however else. And they have fresh corn. ^_^

Just a few thoughts I had on the subject.

Antarctica does have a population so there fore it is a civilization. Even if none of them constantly live there. And no duh that mt. everest has no civilization it isn't healthy to live on due to the oxygen levels but it does have a city around it...

1. Read all my posts. It's on the top of the second page.

2. Well then that's just horrible. Because of something somebody's religion says, they're gonna have a crapload of kids. That's just not right.

3. I actually mentioned something along those lines. It is true that if you live on a farm you'll need more children then most to help you with your farm. Of course you could always adopt them, but anyway, most people nowadays don't live on farms, they just want (not need) a buttload of kids.

The middle of Antartica does not have a civilization. It is much too cold. All the camps are mostly on the outside edges of the continent.

But it's right to say someone can only have a certain amount of kids?
