Well, I know that pets should be spayed/neutered. It helps pet overpopulation, gives pets longer lives, and lowers the risks of certain cancers. Well, why aren't people spayed/neutered? Not all of us, of course, because sex is kind of a must... But people with AIDS (since condoms sometimes fail and they could spread it) and just stupid people like the Duggars (I hate that family with a PASSION).. It would make their lives longer, and help overpopulation. Just a thought.

Or you could make all guys get vasectomy, that would help overpopulation too.

And by the way, what are your views on the overpopulation crisis?

:goodvibes

Because then that would be denying their rights as a citizen and human...

People do "neuter" themselves when they feel there done with having children. Honestly I don't mind if a person has 18 kids, as long as they can give them the support they need - finacially, emotionally, mentally, etc.

I do, that's polluting the Earth. If there weren't so many people, there would be no need to be concerned about the enviroment, there would be no factory farms so you wouldn't have to feel guilty about eating meat, the world wouldn't be as crowded, and animals wouldn't be going extinct left and right. There are only 50-80 florida panthers left, which is ridiculous! I'm extremely passionate about overpopulation and I support China's children policies (which have greatly lowered the average children per woman), I think it's a shame they don't have such policies in the US.

I'm proud that my mom only had me... I plan on only having one child, most likely none though.

I find it a shame that China kill's babies after the family has one. That's denying someone human rights, and it's a shame that it's gotten to this point.

But I think the world would be going through exactly what it is right now, whether or not we had more or less people. Animals were going extinct in the past, it's awful, but it's apart of life. I don't think Humans have much to do with that. I'm sure they would still be going extinct even if we had less people on this Earth. JMO.

This topic is very touchy, since it crosses over with human rights.

Humans have just about everything to do with animal extinction. Take the Florida panther for example. In the early 1800's, panthers numbered in the thousands and roamed throughout the southeast, up to Tennessee to Louisiana to the East coast and down to Florida. The first thing that started to get their numbers down was that states had put a price on the panther's head to tame to land. And now there are only 50-80 left in the world, they only live wild in Florida, and many of the deaths are from being hit by cars.

I know this sounds horrible, but I find the whole China issue to be a good thing (although as far as I know they don't kill the babies after a family has one, they simply give them money if they have only one, but I think either way it's alright). And at this point in human existence, human rights don't really matter as far as the population goes. It's in everyone's best interest for there to be zero, or even negative population growth.

Thats what Hitler did...anyone who wasn't good enough or had an illness was killed...

There's a difference between killing people and asking them not to reproduce, or to only have one kid. =/

Sorry, I meant like, yes humans have a part in animal extinction, but I don't think the population has a big effect. They would still be in extinction if we had less people. Hunting is a terrible thing, that I am totally against unless it's for means of survival.

And no, I am pretty sure they kill the baby or do something. They simply do NOT want more then one child. I think that's horrible. You can't deny someone having a child. If they can support it, then I think they should be allowed to have one. We should influence abstinence amongst teens and those who arent ready, but if a couple is ready for a child and want's a family, I don't think they should be denyed it AT ALL.

& I agree with Kitkat_tink, Hitler denyed rights to many people. And if you didn't have blonde hair, blue eyes you were most likely killed. Just because you have aids you shouldnt be allowed to not have Sex. Is it possible to get Aids from like..say your mom had Aids, and then you were born, could you get Aids? If you can, then why should that person be punished for something they did not do?

1. Nope, not really. Hunting isn't that much of a problem, really. It's habitat destruction, and whenever you see a new subdivsion that's quite a few animals that just lost their habitat.

2. But can the enviroment handle it? The answer is no. The Earth really is only built to have 2 billion people, but there are currently 6 billion, and that number's rising fast.

3. Abstinence doesn't work, it never has. But vasectomy's do. And I totally disagree, it's bad for the enviroment!

4. Yep, they can. Very much so.

Abstinence does work. You don't have sex, therefore you can't get pregnant. You can't force every guy to get a vasectomy because that's denying human rights and I think it's completely ridiculous idea.

I agree with you now on the animal extinction, now. Thank you for telling me that.

In theory, yes, abstinence does work. But in reality, no, it does not. People want to have sex, especially when you're a teenager and your hormones are raging. I know it'll never happen, but I can dream of the day when people force vasectomy's on others. I'm so evil  . But maybe I'd understand such things better if I had any desire whatsoever to have children.

And I'm very happy that I was able to get you to understand!

Actually, people do use abstinence and it does work for those who want it to. Being cellibit (spelling) is something people practice until they are married. Some people can do it, despite the hormones. :p

Hahahaha, I guess it just all depends on your views, y'know.

:)

It is TOTALY wrong to make people spay / neuter themselves .

Its just.. taking away their rights .

& It's wrong to put restrictions on how many kids people can have , and you cant do it in the u.s.a anyway people come to this country to live their lives the way they want to .

I think both of those things could be strongly suggested , but not a law or something .

If that all makes sense ?

Makes sense to me. =]

agreed. all humans have a primeval urge to have sex to spread their genes on to the next generation. abstinence isnt the only cure to this.
some people, though do have a strong enough control on themselves, but not all do.

I believe humans should not be spayed/neutered, though. I dont know all of the info, but it might mess with one's hormone balance. if done young, a person wont develop classic male/female traits. and It would mess with one's rights.

IMO, I think that there will, one day be a law to limit how many children a couple will have. this planet only has so much space. the more people, the more space is taken. and we have to share it with other things. we have (already) caused enough environmental damage trying to develop land for people to live on.

If there will never be restrictions, the population will continue to grow exponitially. and this exponitial growth will get out of hand quickly.

just my beliefs :)

Just to let people know, I do NOT think people should be spayed/neutered, because that would mean no sex for those who were, and I didn't think of hormone inbalences. All I was thinking of is if that spaying/neutering can improve cats/dogs' health, maybe it would be good for really old people or people who it might not be the very best idea to have sex anyway because of disease prevention.

good concept. you were just trying to think of how it might help people

old people: might not make a difference. if you spay/neuter a pet when their old, there are few benefits. I guess it might be the same with older people. (it might vary from person to person)

diseased people: again, good concept. trying to rid the world of these diseases. I doubt, though that many people would go through with this. not all people are so willing to do somthing for the better of the entire population. people can be stubborn :)

thats just what immidiately comes to mind :)

There's a difference between killing people and asking them not to reproduce, or to only have one kid. =/

Not really...By telling them not to reproduce or only have one kid you are denying them something that is a freedom regardless of illness or whatever. If having only one kid was a rule then the majority of the population would not have been alive. I wouldn't have, my parents wouldn't have, nor would my grandparents. Having kids is something people do.
And even if you spayed or neutered people with illnesses that doesn't stop them from spreading, you can't tell people that because of there lifestyle or there parents or whatever that they are going to be denied a simple thing that almost everyone will do at one point in there life. Humans have sex drives. Thats not going to change and spaying and neutering them isn't going to get rid of something in their brain and so people with HIV and Aids will still be doing it and still passing it on

Well, when you spay/neuter someone they can no longer have sex. That's why I said that wouldn't be a good idea, I was just wondering.

And I think that it would be better for the entire population if fair limits were set as to how many children a couple is allowed to have. I'm sorry, but I don't like the fact the stupid, greedy people like the Duggar's make it so that this world that I live in just becomes more crowded and polluted. This is everyone's world, and we need to do what we can to save it. And one of the easiest ways to do so is to reduce the population, or at least to make it so that it doesn't continue to skyrocket.

its insane to suggest who should be allowed to have children or not.
