My birthday is the day Dale Earnhardt died. It wasn't bad enough that any men in my life just about forgot I existed in any year that my birthday was on a Sunday (the anniversary of my birth isn't reason enough to miss the Daytona 500), but now no matter what day of the week it is, I'm treated to long homilies about how much people miss him and have actually had to remind my father that it is still my birthday.

Botswana Day is celebrated on my Birthday. Elie Wiesel(1928) and Truman Capote(1924) share this special Birthday. It is also the day that the first volume of LITTLE WOMEN is published(1868) and Microsoft Excel is released(1985).

I'm sorry! Try to think of what a joyous day your birthday was for you mom. I'm sure she thought the Heaven had dropped her an angel the day you were born!!!

Thank you so much for your kindness. My birthday and my dad's are low key since his birthday is the 18th the day before mom passed away. We have a "special" moment just the two of us then kind of let it go. Not the same without mom's voice singing along, "Happy Birthday" besides not looking forward to birthday 2007 for another reason also. That's the big 5 0.

I honestly believe people know when its their last day. My Dad waited until the night after my mother's birthday. Her birthday is July 21. My Dad passed away July 22, 1994.

Do you really think a person has complete control over when they die though? My uncle JUST died on my aunt's 80th birthday.

Besides in my mom's case it was a doctor's mistake that she died at that specific time and date.
