Something on Idol really bugs me

Why don't they give out tissues before the contestants have to face the judges to find out if they are on to the next round? So many were in tears last night- wiping their face and nose with their hands. They would then go to hug the judges or shake hands. Yuck!

I thought the same thing while watching last night. I thought maybe they didn't want to go in thinking they were going to be disappointed or jinx themself. But putting a box next to the funky white chair wouldn't hurt.

And a lot of them cry even before the judges say anything. I would hand them all a tissue before they go to face the judges. Maybe I could get a job doing that!

They are missing out on a golden sponsorship opportunity.

yes, the lack of tissues bothers me too ... the other thing that really bothers me is the long, drawn out, dissertation the judges give the contestants as to whether they are staying or going home ... just tell them "you're in" or "you're out', for goodness sakes ... the drama the judges (& the producers) try to create is just so old & boring anymore ...

I agree that it's gross, but I think it's all about production value. People covering their faces with tissues doesn't make for good TV. They want to get those tight camera shots of their faces so you can really see those tears flowing. Now that's good TV! Either that, or they think the contestants are old enough to decide whether or not they want to bring their own tissues. Some are crying before they even get to the chair. They could easily grab a tissue before their name is called to enter the chamber!
