Something NOT to do on vacation - regardless of how good the shot might be

Well that makes me feel better... kinda. ;)

Went to snopes before I saw Gdad's reply. All I kept thinking was how could he have gotten out there in the first place?

>>> not quite as bad ...

It's bad enough. A ten foot plunge is enough to get hurt doing. And how much side leeway did he have. I would not walk a three foot wide gangplank with no handrails over a 10 foot ravine, although I might crawl over it.

guessing drinking the whole six pack first might have had something to do with his stupidity:lmao::sad2:
ok having seen the real deal, i still think he's nuts since he could bounce off the lower ledge:jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3: but then again i couldn't even cross this with out pretty much havbing to crawl to get back:)

I would have been pretty gosh dern shaky on that too.

Crazy! What kind of looney would extend the center column of his tripod without good reason? That guys was totally nuts.

That's how I was feeling on this trail with my two kids. I kept wanting to throw my body on top of them to prevent them getting close to the edge. :scared1: Anyway, even with that narrow ledge below, I'd never make that leap.

kind of like how i always annoyed my kids at Niagara Falls by holding on to the back of their shirts whenever they went near the wall? :lmao:

Just like more people die of jellyfish than sharks, you are more likely to die of heat stroke than a fall at the Grand Canyon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon

"According to Over the Edge: Death in the Grand Canyon, 50 fatalities have resulted from falls; 65 deaths were attributable to environmental causes, including heat stroke, cardiac arrest, dehydration, and hypothermia; 7 were caught in flash floods; 79 were drowned in the Colorado River; 242 perished in airplane and helicopter crashes (128 of them in the 1956 disaster mentioned below); 25 died in freak errors and accidents, including lightning strikes and rock falls; 47 committed suicide; and 23 were the victims of homicides."

especially around here lately - it was 105 yesterday - and we are expecting 100+ for the next 5 days.

I think it was about 100 here today (and more humid than Dallas). My 45 bike ride home from the office was not much fun tonight. I think I'm driving tomorrow.

saw the snopes clip and I don't give a hoot if there is a ledge under there, ain't no way in h-e- double hockey sticks I would be caught near there. My legs are shaking thinking about it.
