First beef, then turkey, soon we'll have a 12 course banquet that had to be thrown out...

DD13 and I made bacon and eggs for dinner last night. Don't remember who was supposed to put the eggs back in the fridge, but they were brand-new just home from the store, and I had 7 left after we made our dinner.

Do you think they will be OK since they were only out on the counter from about 6pm last night until 7am this morning? If I scramble them really, really, well...
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just kidding - even the most die-hard "eat it" responder wouldn't make me eat an egg that had been left out all night, would they? Talk about your food poisoning...:lmao:

I don't know. But in olden days, eggs were always left out. :confused3

I would think eggs would be alright. It's not like they're laid in refrigerated coops. My grandmother raises chickens and sells fresh eggs to friends. They're collected, washed, dried off and placed in cartons. Sometimes it could take 2 days before they reach a fridge.

Eeeewwwww, and eeeewwwwww again! I'm not knowingly eating an egg that has been out of the refrigerator for more than an hour!!

First, they try to scare me to death about eating raw cookie dough, but now I can eat an egg that's been sitting around in 90 degree weather in somebody's pantry?

I say GROSS...

You were right to toss them.

Eggs are perishable just like raw meat, poultry, and fish. Unbroken, clean, fresh shell eggs may contain Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) bacteria that can cause foodborne illness. While the number of eggs affected is quite small, there have been cases of foodborne illness in the last few years. To be safe, eggs must be properly handled, refrigerated, and cooked.

Toss the turkey, toss the beef, but the eggs are okay. Like others have mentioned, it's not the norm to refrigerate eggs in many other countries. I do it because it helps them keep longer, but you should be okay. I would just use them soon.

And personally, I've never experienced any easier separation when they're at room temperature, so I don't bother and do it when they're cold.

I've left eggs out on the counters for a week at a time, many times, and never had an issue.

:magnify: I would toss the meat and the eggs. the older I get the less chances I take.

You remind me of my sister, may I recommend that you look into something for your memory, like exercises, herbal remedies..etc? :teeth:

This reminds me of something my MIL did a few years back. I was at her house on a Sat for whatever reason. She was par-boiling a pot of chicken at the time. I didnt think anything of it, was only there for a few minutes. Now fast forward to the next day when we are all invited to her house for a cookout.

The pan of par boiled chicken is sitting on the stove in the exact same spot I had seen it the day before. Middle of July and the pan is room tempeture.

I kid you not. She proceeded to pick the chicken out of the water and put it on the BBQ....I made sure my kids plates were piled high with salad and whatever else I could get on there except for the chicken.

I'm suddering just thinking about it.....This is the same woman whose house has to always look perfect...But I saw her change my nephews diaper one day and proceed to make sandwiches for the kids without washing her hands. I stopped her and her reply was, I didnt actually touch his butt so I dont need to wash.

Honestly, I will never ever understand.....

Theoretically, people in other countries keep eggs in the pantry.
In practice, I'm terrified of salmonella.
