lori - thought of brauns (bread) not braums:confused:

so we may have to regroup?  come find me if i get lost please;)

metro - i'll take a note of the directions (and promptly lose it lol). i'm more a visual sort, so when i veer off of I-80 (and visit the cracker barrel:thumbsup2 ); then head east on I-64...i admire the beautiful country.

I'm trying to remember where Charlottesville was. Know we passed 1 or 2 historical exits (president's homes?) and a fantastic lookout or 2 that i just had to stop & take some pics....then a rest stop shortly before I-95 where DH gets to start driving...
so where's home in that stretch:laughing:

ps what a comfy looking chair, looks very sleek & expensive

mac - ouch you're taking a beating from the tax man.

ours have been submitted, waiting for the high sign back & we're off to the racespopcorn::

barb - i'm probably naive/an eternal optimist but, i think everyone (especially the male species in my family) always tells me the truth. It's a deal breaker for me if they deliberately lie to mislead...as i told DH & kids years ago; just tell me the truth. I'm going to find out anyway & there will be twice the hell to pay then.:rolleyes1 We even tend to grant pardons for remorseful confessions.:flower3:

Any of the homies know anything about the Atlanta airport? I need some advice on connecting times and getting around. Tricia, do you have any experience there?

All I need to do is get from one concourse to another for a connecting flight. I've got and hour and a half to do it. Do you think it is okay?

Damo, the Atlanta airport is where we do all our flying from. I've been in and out of it hundreds of times. Navigating inside the airport is a breeze. There are trains that run from the Main Terminal all the way through the Concourses. You coming International? If so, you'll probably be parked at Concourse T which is the closest to the Main Terminal. From there, you can catch the airport train to Concourse A, B, C, D, or E. There are moving sidewalks if you'd rather just walk it. There should be NO problem whatsoever with making a connecting flight in 1.5 hours. The only problem will be your original flight landing on time. Flight patterns coming into Atlanta during peak times can wind up flying a clover leaf over the city until you get a clear runway to land on. If you have a window seat, watch as you land. So many planes land at Atlanta that you usually pick up partner planes and land in tandem with them. Kinda scary and cool all at the same time.

If you need a visual of the airport layout: http://www.atlanta-airport.com/Default.asp?url=sublevels/terminal/termmap.htm

Here's what part of my refund is going to:

AeronchairTwo.jpg

We have the Aeron chairs at work and now I want one for home.

I stayed at a hotel once that had these chairs. I think it was a marriot courtyard. Anywho, they are really really comfortable. :thumbsup2

Long time no see eh?

We were talkin about where you were :rolleyes1

nah...you're not naive  We actually expect the truth....trying to beat into his brain: yes, you're most likely in trouble for what you did...HOWEVER, you're in a whole lot LESS trouble for telling the truth (still doesn't excuse what you did wrong tho ;) ) And yes, we make sure to explain the punishment would be less or more depending on truthfulness..... like, instead of losing computer for the weekend, coulda lost it a week! (& that is devastating to Bubba  ) So far, so good.....he tells the truth almost all the time :thumbsup2 ...but I've gotten to the point where I can usually tell he's lying....just by the facial expression :rolleyes1

Read this from the cruise mod:

From WebmasterAlex:

We need to evaluate the effect the "long threads" are having on board performance. In order to do that we will be "hiding" the long threads for 24 hours. They will come back so no need to panic
I will be shutting the boards down around 11pm to move the threads around and make some other changes.
If you are a participant in one of these threads please feel free to start another thread tomorrow.
A long thread will be over 10,000 posts for the purpose of this experiment

ok,
i will create a new thread later tonight.
will call it:

home for the homies.

we can use that while the experiment is going on and then i'll link them together if a mod allows it.

i think you all have my email address in case you get lost.

if we end of switching to a new "home thread" and i don't see you there,
you will be contacted by one of us on the thread to find your way there.
keisha, i could never leave you...........all of us will find you and take you to the new thread.

if something comes out of the "experiment", we will have a thread in place to replace it if need be. we will all watch for each other as good homies do and regroup. everyone will help accomplish that.

i hope it doesn't go that way.

All I need to do is get from one concourse to another for a connecting flight. I've got and hour and a half to do it. Do you think it is okay?

yes, that is very doable damo

damo, this is a great link to help you.
i'm glad an expert came out to help you with your question.

Yes they are. I used to have one when I worked at UVa. My mother thought is was a prop from Star Trek. :rotfl:

Yes...you pass the exits for Monticello, Michie Tavern and Ash Lawn near Charlottesville as well as the Thomas Jefferson Visitor's Center.

Just remember...it's not I-80...it's I-81. ;)

I'd hate for us to have to start another thread too.....but if this moves faster, it'll be worth it :thumbsup2

Don't worry....I don't think anyone will get lost ;)

barb, what you posted says alex will reinstate the long threads once his experiment is over.

i would rather stay with this thread but we need back up in case our worse fears come true.

thanks for keeping us informed and posting that info.
i owe you one..

Lori - The deal with Mark Martin is this. His contract was with Ginn Racing, which got bought/merged with DEI. He was part of the package. He will still be racing the Army car, it is now however the Number 8 for DEI. He will be running roughly the same schedule he did last year, but sharing the car this time with Almirola. You might remember him from the Busch series last year. He shared a car with Denny Hamlin and got royally pi$$ed when he started a race and was running third, then got pulled during a pit stop when Hamlin finally made it to the track. He asked to be released from his contract after that and DEI picked him up.

Mark is a good guy, a clean driver, and someone that I would like to see win a couple of more races before he fades into the sunset. Why oh WHY did it have to be DEI? :sad2:

Barb - You can, technically, eat a dairy cow. You can eat any animal. However, the way a dairy cow is raised (fed) is to produce milk. The way a beef cow is raised (fed) it to maintain healthy meat with a certain percentage of fat. Dairy cow meat would be tough and less than yummy.

Oh, and that message from the Webmaster, that would mean our happy little thread, huh? So, Mac, what will you call our new thread when this one goes bye-bye?

Hey, Sharon! We were just asking about you. Glad you checked in.

OK, Guys, I am going to make an attempt to catch up, but the DIS is soooooo slllllooooooowwwwwww tonight, that I fear I will not have the patience.

UGH! Dup post. Oh well I had something else to say anyway.

Now this may show you all that I'm not so bright but I really do disagree with this...

Did you all know that a square is a rectangle?

Yes, but a rectangle is not a square ... Don't ask how I remember that.

Keep us posted on what happens with Ally's teacher!

And, oh, I found another swim diaper stowed in our luggage. So, I split them up and bought them each a set of hoodie towels. It was their first baby gifts! Normally, I am not so thoughtful when it comes to that stuff. I will do just about anything to get out of going to a shower!

All I need to do is get from one concourse to another for a connecting flight. I've got and hour and a half to do it. Do you think it is okay?

As long as your first flight isn't delayed into Atlanta, you should be fine. Like mac, we do not connect through Atlanta anymore either. I have been delayed there more times than I care to count.

Since I saw some things about cows and milk, I have a question for Vegans. Are there any on this thread? I am not being a smart alec; just curious. Why don't vegans do dairy? Does milking the cow hurt it? Does milk "exploit" a cow? I get the meat argument. Sometimes when I watch those videos, I want to put down my filet too (for about 10 seconds).

Barb, thanks for the heads up about our thread being shut down experimentally.

Janet, thanks for explaining re: audit. It would make more sense that they were fishing for something than coming after you for 100$ -- good grief!

Crud, I forgot what else I was going to catch up on. I may or may not be back, depending upon board slowness.

Okay I get that dairy cow not as tasty....but are they fed the same thing or dairy gets different menu?? Do they give dairy hormones too?

Remember reading somewhere about giving hormones to the animals and it was getting passed onto the humans....hence the early puberties in teens and such :rolleyes1

tricia and all homies....

i have been trying to start a new thread in the uo forum after i posted above.
i'm having trouble getting on to do it.

i'll keep trying.

tricia, the creator of a thread can change the title at anytime.
if there are issues, and long threads are being broken up,
i will call the thread, Home for the Homies.

once we are all together, i will go back and retitle the thread to something about nothing or could add this with it :

part 2

i'll do a poll whenever the time comes for the final name.
majority will rule.

still gonna try to start a new thread tonight though.

home for the homies went thru.

it is now set up as a temporary home for when the dis experiment begins.

yes, pathetic i know.

it would be hard for me to go for 24 hours not talking to the homies here......
so, we are all set for the morning.

hoping fletcher knows where to go for the morning wake up.

wouldn't want him to wake up the wrong group at 5:00 am...........

I'll be coming in from Air Canada so I assume it will be into the international concourse E. Will I just go down to the train from that concourse and go to my next concourse? I am getting a connecting Delta flight to Savannah. Will I have to clear any checkpoints again or can I just go from one concourse to the next. I won't have any luggage to claim.

Coming back I will be arriving on Delta from Savannah and then going to Air Canada to head back to Toronto.

I am hoping that I just have to get out of the plane, go down to the train and go to the concourse for my next flight and go to my gate. I am hoping I don't have to make any sidejaunts to clear any other checkpoints between concourses.

I've made sure that if I miss my next flight, there is another one I can pick up in a few hours.

Vegans eat nothing that was ever part of an animal... no animal by-product. The egg thing, I guess I could see... but the milk thing baffles me. I guess my dog is not vegan as she will eat a cow pie if I turn her loose in the pasture. I suppose if you wiped a carrot across a cow's back and then tried to serve it to a vegan, it would be incorrect?

I don't get it, but there are a lot of things in this world I don't get.

Did you see Bee Movie? You'd love the whole "bees suing over the exploitation of them for honey" theme. :rotfl:

Tricia - have you been to Daytona before?

It's looking like James will be going to college there unless his 2nd choice offers him a free ride.

I need recommendations for two hotels.

I'm looking for one on the beach. I know from driving thru there last summer that its a pretty tacky area. Can you recommend a hotel there?

2nd, I want one next to the race track, which is also next to the college.

Todd - do you have any info on hotels in this area?

Okay, so I lied. I'm back.

I was looking at the Nascar schedule because we are trying to make our plans for the Daytona 500 and they just announced race times and stuff like that.

I have always cheered for Mark Martin. I can't decided how I feel about him driving the Number 8 for DEI.

:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

I have never supported DEI-
I used to root for Mark. Now, no way. I do support Junior a little, but for me personally, it will be Carl Edwards #99.

I still drool over the Kasey Kane commercials. That will not be stopping.
