Science fair project was ... Can we Change the Color of a Flower??

It is first grade so it was pretty easy we put three white carnations in water with food coloring (red, green and blue) . Give it a day or two and the tips of the flowers will start to change to what ever color the water is. It is a cute project for a 6 year old. He loved it .

I know my daughter will hate me but it is all in good fun :dance3: . I just am so ready to go . There is so much going on in the next few weeks and the year just seems to be flying by all of a sudden.Where has the time gone  .

The reason I have one fish two fish on my mind is DS and I were reading it last night and now I can't get it out of my head . All I think about it how much I need April 30th to come :rotfl: .

Oh yeah, forgot to respond to this! DS15 and DS12 got SOAKED on this ride - not because of the ride, but because they decided it would be a good idea to dump their water bottles on each others' heads while riding it! (it was hot!)

tracie - nice swag! Hope u find some cheap air, if not; how long would the drive take for you

prolly takes us about 14-16 hours  :sad2: (that's why we fly ;) )

If we were to drive straight through, it would take about 16-18 hours, we stop overnight and do it in two days. Previous to our 10/2006 trip, jim would drive both ways......that last trip, Jim drove down, I drove home. We got pretty stinking spoiled on our Trip in April 2007 by flying. Jim swears he will never drive again, but he doesn't want to pay a mint in airfare either (we had the 49 per person each way for that trip courtesy of SWA). No doubt we will go......just which mode of transportation :scratchin

Ya know Tracie...with a family of FIVE, might NOT be a bad idea to ask for SW gift cards....I think this year was the first time I saw them in Walmart... couldn't believe my eyes!!! Who'da thunk it?? :confused3 What does SW want for air for your travel times??? (I can't believe that not only are our flights still AVAILABLE, but only about $10 more in price :confused3 )

:lmao:

Let's just say that the $1200 rebate that is being pushed around in congress (?) for taxpayers would cover it (with some change left over)

Jim was all for it when it was 49 last year - one can hope for it again....right:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Anybody seen this new tax rebate thing they have been working on ??
According to what they are saying anbody working would get $600.00 back and ones that have children would get an additonal $300.00 per child and the checks should be out by June.
Only one thing to say ok send that money my way:rotfl2: :lmao:

From someone who has taught elementary and middle school math, trust me:
A square IS a rectange.
A square is also a rhombus.
A rhombus is also a parallelogram.
Therefore, a square is also a parallelogram.
Additionally, a rectangle is a parallelogram.

Any questions? :confused3

Really - think of it like this. The real definition of a rectangle is that it has 4 sides and 4 ninety degree angles. There is no rule for how long the sides have to be. Therefore a square can also be a rectangle because it does have 4 sides (they just happen to be the same size) and 4 90 degree angles.

Similarly, a parallelogram just has to have 4 sides, with opposite sides the same length. No rules on angles so again a square could be one. Have I confused everyone enough?!

:confused3 :faint:

....but makes ya wonder who she loves more me or Universal:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

i'm guessin' you! ;)

Hey...I've read about that before...yeah, you can do that!! (Kinda young for a science fair already, ain't he?? )

Your dates aren't available at the $49 I see advertised?? I agree...driving sux....then again FIVE fares is $$$$ too :guilty: We would pay it....just so we don't have to sit two days in the car....not for me :sad2: . When it was just DH & I, we drove to Fla. twice....once straight thru and once we stopped. NEVER again!! Worth every cent to us :thumbsup2 (then again, like I mentioned, we are only 3, you are 5)

I'd like to hope that $49 opens up....usually closer to the fly date they run the specials if the seats aren't sold....have you checked AirTran too?? Somebody has got to have something decent.... I wish you dust :wizard: and keep my fingers crossed for ya's!! (and next year ask for SW gift cards :rolleyes1 )

The only thing that worries me about that "rebate" is what happened before....they kept telling everyone it was a 'rebate'...but in actuality it was an "advance" on your income tax return :sad2: I would have gladly waited instead of getting that check.....and besides, isn't our government in debt out the wazoo??? Where are they getting this money from?? ....oh yeah, the taxpayers :headache: (can ya tell I don't have a lot of faith in our government?)

Now see how :confused3 you get the news on the internet says what I wrote and watching CNN and they had the news confrence said $300.00 per tax payer and $600.00 for married filing jointly and the only thing that was the same was $300.00 per child.

OH Snapp your right I forgot they did that one year and this would kill our taxes for next year:headache:

I was sure the government gave the post office money to operate too :confused3 Since the post office is closed for almost all FEDERAL holidays, you can see where I was making the blonde connection
It happens all the time, it started that way, (as part of the Federal Gov't that was supported by tax dollars) way back when. I thought so as well before I worked there. When I was a window clerk, I had a woman tell me to go check for her certified letter, because SHE paid my salary, and I have to do what SHE says!!! Wow, that was fun trying to explain the whole thing to her, my supervisor at the time got involved, and she believed her, but not me??? :confused3

pending a re-check & DHs review; all i need is one more statement from the bank; know what it is from last balance...think i'll fire it off - soooooon:banana:

barb - cute, i've got disney & warner bros checks:)

as for those refunds/rebates; sure hope they're not as barb portrayed...know we didn't get the full complement last time for some reason (i was working full time; think there were income restrictions? ).

tracie - that is a long drive, do u have to go thru DC area too:eek: (i drive miles out of the way when heading down south to avoid it)

either go down I-77 thru WV & Charleston, NC; cutting over to I-95 or thru Winchester, VA I-80 and a series of roads winding up about a 20 min above I-295. We've even tried cutting over driving down I-80 to Stauton & then across to I-295.

so it can take me anywhere from 20-22 hours, way too long of a drive for me; with price of gas unless you have a large group, i'd think it'd might even out (unless u need a rental car in MCO). Even hubby with a CDL hates I-95/I-295 around Richmond

:hippie: Sooooo.....runnin' low on personal checks here in House of Bubba.....got us some new ones:

Thought they fit in well with our cruise comin' up this summer :teeth:

Very cool! pirate:

Janet...here's the best way to avoid the traffic in Richmond...If you come down I-81 to Staunton and then take I-64 past Charlottesville (my hometown) you can get on a new bypass outside of Richmond called Route 288. You catch it off of Exit 175 in Goochland County. It's great and you don't have to go into Richmond at all and will still put you out on I-95 South....far below the downtown conjestion. I found that out when I went home last time and will never do I-295 around Richmond again. :woohoo:

Here's what part of my refund is going to:

AeronchairTwo.jpg

We have the Aeron chairs at work and now I want one for home.

Any of the homies know anything about the Atlanta airport? I need some advice on connecting times and getting around. Tricia, do you have any experience there?

Mmmmmm... nothing like fresh country air! :rotfl:

Our grocery store just started carrying Sara Lee bread and there seems to be a pricing war, so our bread is actually cheaper than it used to be.

Okay, I can't take the SLOW page loads and posts. I'll try again later.

Yeah "fresh" country air.:rolleyes1

No price wars going on here. :headache:

apparently they have :confused3

You've heard of "suicide by cop"....I'm thinking "suicide by Chris" :lmao:

 & :scared:

Bread hasn't changed drastically in awhile....I buy store brand at 74 cents/loaf :teeth:

I actually saw an interesting thing on tv about the corn-fuel thing..... it's actually going to be MORE expensive than the regular fuel....the manpower involved in growing and harvesting (not to mention the gas those tractors/machine use!)...then, trucking it around and the pollution in the air from 'converting' it :confused3 ....it was awhile ago, but the jist of the story was it wasn't going to be any better than the gas :headache: :confused3

So the coyote is trying to commit suicide huh?:upsidedow

Even the store brand here now is .89 cents/loaf. Used to be .69. Wonder/Rainbow is 1.89 now and used to be 1.50. And I live in a stinkin wheat field!

Amazing that the things they do always seem to cause more harm than good. Idiots!

See everyone after the science fair tonight . My DS 6 won for his class and we are off to the fair tonight :yay: .

:cheer2: Way to go ds!

Okay, so I lied. I'm back.

I was looking at the Nascar schedule because we are trying to make our plans for the Daytona 500 and they just announced race times and stuff like that.

I have always cheered for Mark Martin. I can't decided how I feel about him driving the Number 8 for DEI.

Everyone but Lori can ignore this post completely.

Hadn't done any checking yet. Didn't know he was driving for DEI. Is he going to race full time again? There is no way I can route for DEI after the way Teresa treated Jr.

lori - i haven't seen that brand in our area for a long time:confused3

You have seen Braum's before? Have you ever been to our neck of the woods? They only sell in Oklahoma, and some parts of Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas & I believe Colorado. They make fresh deliveries. Very good ice cream & milk but I preferred Baskin Robbins ice cream. Unfortunately Braum's put most of our Baskin Robbin's stores out of business.

Yeah finally was able to get the other airline tickets today and just so happened that the tickets I needed to get was DW and oldest DS :lmao: just have to maybe wait till tomorrow to start getting the hotel ressies for RPR and maybe sat for offsite hotel and finally the Universal tixs and then the waiting sets in:banana:

You are well on your way!

ha - he didn't ring twice;) but the postman brought the W2's:woohoo:

off to cypher

barb - forgot to answer, no this was in Dec. '05. Another reason why i like DP & charging things to the room key @ both U & WDW instead of watching the server walk out of sight with the CC. For some reason our room key wouldn't work (or was it a ploy:idea: ?). I've read other posts as to the issue; what can you do?:confused3

st l - enjoy planning, it's 1/2 the fun:thumbsup2

Glad the W-2's came in.

You could use cash! That's what we do.

Any of the homies know anything about the Atlanta airport? I need some advice on connecting times and getting around. Tricia, do you have any experience there?

all i can tell you is i avoid it at all times.
it is worse than o'hare in chicago.

i hate dealing with ohare

you can google and bring up a great airport map to show the terminals
if you can't find the link, give me a holler.

Bread has also gone up here. Has it everwhere else?

roman meal wheat runs me $3.27 a loaf. i have to shop at Jewel stores which are famous for high prices in chicagoland.....
once wally world 24/7 opens in the spring, i'll do my trading there....

store brand is about $1.90 on sale.
bread is not cheap in our area, either is meat, or eggs, or .....
.

jodie - i believe the revenue agents were fishing:rolleyes1 . If anything, it taught me to keep all receipts, especially those for misc business expenses. It was a humbling experience, especially since the ex refused to appear with me (believe that was strike 2 for him;) ). Have fun getting touched up.:goodvibes

least i got my taxes started, now all i need is for w-2s to come floating in the mailbox, they aren't as responsible as tricia is.

you would not believe how many people are audited every year.
not all are called in as they pass the audit.

we have been audited for the last 15 years.
i hear you on the medicals. ours have been so high the last 10 years that blue shield, blue cross cancelled us out due to high cost in 06.

we hooked up with humana under a high deductible plan with mr mac's employer. yea, when we got cancelled out with bsbc, the entire company staff lost their health insurance also.

needless to say, we were not very popular..........

we wait until the last day to mail ours in.
it goes in with a check.
long story on how we do our taxes. claim more than we have for during the year for cash flow and then only claim what we are allowed at filing time.
no interest paid on refunds so we take the money for our use during the year instead of one time refund check.

You have GOT to tell us what he wanted to see :hyper:
i bet on debbie does dallas.......

Planning on doing any brain surgery later?

Here's mine. Phone rings at home. An automated message tells me that it is Citibank fraud alert and suspicious activity has taken place on my card. I am urged to call the customer service number on the back of my card. WTH?

Well, since it wasn't asking me for my account number or anything like that AND it was telling me to call the 800 number on my card, I did.

Turns out 5 transactions had been keyed in on my card in the past hour (keyed as in entered manually at a card machine, no swipe, no internet). I had just bought 2 bus tickets from New York to Texas, a handful of crap at a gas station, several bottles of liquor, and some clothing. None of the charges were much. Maybe $100 or so per transaction? The customer service rep read back to my last charge, made her notes, closed the account and told me exactly what I had to do in order to remove the charges. I had a new card the next day.
chase is good with the customers. my chase cards do not require me to cover any one penny if i contest fraud usage on my card.

i have to call chase when mr mac and i go out of town and when i do orlando and give them the dates.
too many times we have a stop on the cc until we make contact with them.

any charges that can be turned in for cash, red flag cc.
train tickets can be turned in at any train station and get a refund.
for 4 years i bought train tickets for todd to come home from college one weekend a month. each time i made the charge over the phone with amtrak, i would get a call from chase.
they said anything that can be sold quickly for use of drugs, terrorists red flags a cc and puts a hold on it.

or if you use the cc for anything overseas.

Yeah "fresh" country air.:rolleyes1

No price wars going on here. :headache:

So the coyote is trying to commit suicide huh?:upsidedow

i'm not touching that with a ten foot pole.
that's not a good thing.

.... that was fun trying to explain the whole thing to her, my supervisor at the time got involved, and she believed her, but not me??? :confused3

dontcha know all women think men lie to them constantly? :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

think i'd be shot if i got 'Disney' checks... :scared:

I'm clueless...will let Tricia field this one

Read this from the cruise mod:

From WebmasterAlex:

We need to evaluate the effect the "long threads" are having on board performance. In order to do that we will be "hiding" the long threads for 24 hours. They will come back so no need to panic
I will be shutting the boards down around 11pm to move the threads around and make some other changes.
If you are a participant in one of these threads please feel free to start another thread tomorrow.
A long thread will be over 10,000 posts for the purpose of this experiment

Long time no see eh?

This is my busy time of the year, DS plays on 2 hockey teams, one is a travel team, so lots of games for me.
I've read back about 10 pages, but I don't have time to respond to everyone. So a big hi to everyone!

I can add my two cents to the milk conversation as I just went to the grocery store on my way home from work today.

store brand skim milk $4.49

store brand whole milk $4.89

loaf of arnold oatnut bread $3.49

all i can tell you is i avoid it at all times.
it is worse than o'hare in chicago.

i hate dealing with ohare

All I need to do is get from one concourse to another for a connecting flight. I've got and hour and a half to do it. Do you think it is okay?

I know you guys have probably never heard of or seen a Braums, it is a regional company, they only have stores that their drivers can drive to and back in the same day. Anyway it is a dairy farm/stores and their milk is still as expensive as anyone elses. The farm is actually 4 miles from my house. In fact if the wind is blowing just "wrong" you can smell it. :headache:

Yeah "fresh" country air.:rolleyes1

There is this one farm about 5 miles from me. Twice a year he spreads chicken manure on his fields. This has got to be the worst smell ever, I swear, it burns your nostrils. It goes on for days and days.
People call in to the newspapers and police departments complaining. Penny - I bet you can smell it at your house too.
