Thanks.

Did you know that Kandu is a common name for thoroughbred horses?
Also there was an Orca at Sea World and Marineland named Kandu?
There are several marketing and software companies named Kandu?

Not that I'm searching for your starring role or anything. :rolleyes1

Are you still searching? Let us know if you find it!

Okay - had a whole bunch multiquoted and was working on them here when boss wanted to use computer so had to click out! So I'll just stick with one reply at a time for now. I was wrong in my guess that they might have given me a raise! They did say at 4-6 months - today is 4 months, guess I was being overly optimistic! :confused3

Actually, they just couldn't count the number of hours I'm here each week - guess I must just not have a very commanding presence. However, since I've been stressing about banking my hours for our ski trip in March, rather than writing me a check for the money they owed me, boss did agree I could just count those hours as banked. YAY - 4 less hours I have to spend here! :cool1:

I hate it when that happens!

Glad the pay check got straightened out and you had to put in 4 fewer hours!

okay....just HAVE to do it.....

9600

:rolleyes1

And do you know how much more you posted since? Yeah you and Tricia made it very hard for me to catch up. This is me throwing a hissy fit!

Anybody seen this video and thought it was pretty good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B35-ouRGJRY

Great video Lawrence.

We got snow all right....and my DH is stuck in it :( He got out of almost work TWO hours ago and still isn't home :guilty:
(.....yelled something about people who can't drive..... we only live about a 45 min. drive for him :( )

Glad he made it home safe and sound. I know that worrying is not any fun.

Nope the part of Kentucky I live in every time the call for snow it passes us and to be honest I'm glad it does cause DW works 11 miles away and I dread driving that far on slick roads:scared1: :scared:

Well then maybe I should take a look at your area then.

the boeing 777 at Heathrow dropped out of the sky landing??? YIKES!

for me personally, i could not care less where Jenna gets married.

now William in a royal wedding, I would be watching!
remember when Diana married? that was magical to see as a teenager.........

:surfweb:

I have been so out of the loop I didn’t know anything about the 777. Care to fill me in?

I remember the wedding too. It was like a fairy tale. Guess it ended up being a fractured fairy tale instead.

:rotfl: maybe 3-4 inches ....of course, it started here around 1, really coming down around 2...people started panicking and leaving work all at the same time...fender benders and such....people thought it was icy, but just wet .....in other words, going about 50ft in half an hour :headache:

Umm, that is what they drive like here. I guess I am glad to know it isn’t just okies that drive that way.

Some pix from today...starting around 2pm....

Jan2008066Small.jpg

Great pics! That does not look like fun.

:surfweb: robitussin has my hair standing up...boing

lost my voice, that's considered a bonus in some parts of the woods

Now that is a picture we need to see!

My family thinks it is funny to keep talking to me when I have lost my voice. Then they get upset when I am not bouncing of the walls happy to talk to them. Seriously this has happened to me every year for at least 15 years. It hurts to try to force a sound to come out, it doesn’t get better if I try to talk. Leave me alone! Geez, sorry for that little rant.

for those of you who watched that royal wedding, remember when they kissed on the balcony?

and the coach they left in?

I also clearly remember the following year in June(it was a saturday) when my mother said when i got up
"Princess Diana had a boy and they named him after your father!" (william arthur) Dad beamed all day!

How nice of them to name the heir to the throne after your dad!

Barb - This probably isn't the time to mention that I've never shoveled snow in my life... is it?

I have never shoveled snow in my life either. I will also add I will never shovel snow in my future. If we ever get enough snow that it would need to be shoveled I will not be going out of the house until it is gone. Once it is gone I will immediately be putting my house up for sale and moving to a different climate. I promise you, it ain’t gonna happen!

tracie - my oldest DS took a flight to atlanta today & then was to meet some peeps & get a rental car to drive to mississippi. He didn't believe me when i told him there was snow in Georgia. I told him my friend in a box lives there. I finally have convinced him i am indeed a fruit loop.:rotfl: He tells me it's only a 4 hour drive to (Tupelo-i think he said?) Pardon my geography...doesn't sound quite right:confused3

gratutious post padding over & out

My family knows who my buddies in the box are. They completely understand who I am talking about. They do not think I am nuts. Of course if I mentioned it to extended family they would think I was nuts. Then again, I think they are the ones that are nuts.

I think Tupelo is probably 4 or 5 hours away if I am remembering right. We drove through there on the way to Orlando last summer. I think we were there right at rush hour and were in Atlanta after stopping for a dinner break by 10ish. Wouldn’t have been as long if it hadn’t been rush hour.

Since you have risen from your sick bed (couch, whatever), Janet, here's my pics of Hoover Dam. They are from our trip in January, 2000.

Great pics. Hey that tower is about to fall over! I don’t even like looking off that bridge. Just creepy to me for some reason.

Evening everyone!!!

We are starting to get the fluffy stuff too....but its not sticking :guilty:

Have a little cold so I'm gonna keep my posts short....

Congrats to Barb and Tricia for their milestones!

Back in a bit!

Hope you are all better now Katie.

Okay, I know I need to ketchup, but I just have to comment on the snow pics. That's it - when we get back from skiing, I'm taking pics of my driveway! (Right now it's cold, dark, and snowy out!). I couldn't use the snow blower the THIRD time I shoveled today because the banks were just too high. If I blew snow against it, it just all rolled back down!

I'm sure it'll all melt soon though ;) ! We're leaving tomorrow to go skiing. The forecast for where we'll be on Saturday (Iron River, Michigan) calls for a HIGH of NEGATIVE 3!!! Yeah, this is going to be a blast.
Well sorry I missed the send off. But I do think you guys were nuts to go out in that.

Sorry Penny, should have kept that to myself.

Janet - Tupelo is in Mississippi. That's where Elvis was from, wasn't it?

Yes, Elvis is from Tupelo.

Hi all-
Just wanted to "check-in" so Mac doesn't worry about me ;)
Chrissy is doing much better, a litte tired, but better. She really didn't want to go to school today(she did go back to school on Wed). It was crazy getting her ready for school this morning, as she was agitated this morning.
I had errands to run today. I hope to be home all day tomorrow.

Glad Chrissy is feeling better. Don’t blame her for not wanting to go to school.

I always have my kids shovel but I bribe them with cold hard cash .:)

Cash works best around my house too.

Bubba has early dismissal Friday & off Monday.... He has karate Friday nite, 2 soccer clinics Saturday, birthday Sunday, soccer game Monday, ...wow  he's a busy dude this weekend!

DH came home from helping neighbor load up the truck....got a scoop... A couple in their late 40's/early 50's veeerryyyy interested in the house  Better than the young couple that were looking earlier in the week...apparently they have 2 pitbulls and would have to fence in the yard :headache: (1 not so bad...2 = noisy!) I think they are gonna go for the house at the top of the road that got foreclosed on :thumbsup2

And you are a very busy momma.

Hope you get the better neighbors!

This is exactly what keeps happening to me for various reasons! Frustrating, isn't it? Especially when you've done all the multi-quoting and then have to click out. That's why I'm trying to do some at once, but I'm not keeping up with the speed of the thread. Everyone STOP TALKING!;)

Very frustrating.

marcie, they just don't understand what winter is ..........
i think we should have a homie meet in the green bay/ chgo area in the dead of winter next year.

everyone can take turns shoveling your driveway.......

i have never tried that before. sounds good.
i always tell mine they can eat food if they shovel......

I will come to a homie meet in your area but not in the winter time. As I said earlier I will NEVER shovel snow. I like the way you get those boys to shovel it though.

First the teeth and now a cold. Can somebody please get all the way healthy and pain free around here? It obviously isn't going to be me. You guys figure it out.

I have no idea about touring since 9/11. I can't imagine that they would stop it completely. That area relys heavily on tourism dollars. I loved the guy that took us on the elevator down to start our tour. "I am not your DAM tour guide. You will meet your DAM tour guide when we get off the elevator. Don't ask me any DAM questions. I am no a DAM expert." Kept it up the whole way down. They may all do that. It helps to laugh, so you don't get nervous during the looooong decent.

I won't mention that I've NEVER shoveled snow in my life again. I swear. :rolleyes1

How are you feeling? I am going to the doctor to get rid of this crap. I have to much to do to not be able to talk.

That elevator operator sounds like a lot of fun. He should go work for one of the parks.

I won’t mention that I have never shoveled snow again either.

where's lori?

off to try & find something simple in the freezer to throw @ the troops that i've been starving...then back to the big comfy couch

Here I am!!!!

You need to make those guys help out in the kitchen when you are sick.

Really quick because it is almost time to go pick up Joshua.

Doctor's office called. Joshua's bloodwork looks good. Keep him on the same dose and check again in 2 weeks.

Carol is at the hospital. Her surgical area has not been draining as it should and they are having to do that now. Don't know if they'll be admitting her or not.

Woo Hoo for Joshua. Glad everything went well for Carol.

Nope. . . not stuck in the bathroom. Alli is still my friend and still keepin it real.

I've got a bit of a personal problem that has been taking up all my time.

Thanks for missing me

I hope everything is okay with you. We are here for you if you need us. Some of us are here a little later than others though.

here we are folks! the conference championships this sunday!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
-please note times, as they are not the usual ones....-

3 pm Eastern on CBS
11-5 San Diego vs. 16-0 New England it will be very cold in Foxboro, around 14 degrees maybe at game time. The chargers are itching for a win and to spoil the Pats record, yet the Pats do play well. Really, this could go either way and should be an excellent game:thumbsup2

630 pm Eastern on FOX
10-6 New York Giants vs.
13-3 Green Bay at Lambeau Field in very cold Wisconsin. Giants played well last week, and Green Bay wants to be in the title real bad, and it is hard to beat the pack at home, yet the Giants could stomp them.
another could go either way.

++++++++++++++++
I personaly like the conference games. To me, they are better than the superbowl(jmho) they are fun to watch, and all four teams want it bad. This year, there are 4 teams that will make for a very INTERESTING & EXCITING & GREAT few hours on Sunday in America. ENJOY THE GAMES!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I’ll make my pics now -

I say the Pats are going to play poorly but still pull off the victory.

In the Giants - Pack game Eli is amazingly not be the one that chokes. Instead the kicker will miss two field goals that could win the game in the last 5 minutes of the game. It will then go in to over time and the Packers will win the coin toss. Even more amazing then Eli not choking Favre will throw an interception and the Giants field goal kicker will redeem himself and kick the game winning field goal.

I know, that sounds really far fetched but it could happen. What do you guys think?

thank our lucky stars no one here is beating the refillable mug dead horse on this side of Orlando.:worship:

why people have to argue it to death is beyond me.
:surfweb:

Because they have nothing better to do in their miserable lives. They have never found a way to be happy. Glad I don’t have to live with them.

i taxied the boys to, some other mom better step up for the fro

getting hungry, a good sign...chips or cereal are in the lead

So who went to pick the boys up? Surely one of the other mothers helped out.

Glad you are getting your appetite back.

Speaking of poop, Savvy had a vet appt today that upset her pretty much (rectal temp, blood work, etc). While in the car on the way home, I smelt something so FOUL I had to put the window down and I could still smell it. She was upset and desperately trying to get out of her carry-all. Good lord ... how could something so tiny and cute leave a deposit THAT smelly. No wonder one of work passwords is Smelly Cat!

I get to make my Palo ressies tonight for my DCL cruise. 105 days in advance. How the heck am I supposed to know when I want to eat in Palo tonight?!!

Poor Savvy. I bet she was scared and wanted out of her carry-all very badly!

Hey I was supposed to make my dining reservations 180 days out. I need to figure out what we are doing so I can get them made. But I agree, who knows what or when they want to eat 180 days in advance.

Carol is drained and re-dressed and back home. No need to admit her at this time. She goes back for a re-check next week.

I am tired, so I'm off to convince the boys that it is bedtime. When Momma is tired, everyone needs to sleep. When Momma is cold, everyone need to put on a sweater. When Momma is cranky, watch out.

House rules.

Glad everything was good with Carol.

I try that around here but sometimes they just don’t listen. Of course then they get to deal with momma not being happy!

Hi from the beautiful, balmy UP of Michigan once again! We went to a place skiing we hadn't been to before today and believe it or not, actually had a really good time, despite the weather. We all agreed it didn't seem that cold at all. I was wearing mittens and a couple times my thumbs got a bit cold but that was it. The ski conditions were great and everyone got to race, plus we just had a lot of fun overall.

Driving wasn't all that great because the (mostly 2 lane) roads weren't all cleared from yesterday's storm, but we still got there within an hour of opening and hardly anyone was there yet. This was a more gentle hill than we normally go to and I had fun feeling like a "good" skier for a change! I even went down a double diamond without tumbling!

We're at the hotel now - kids already swam and we went out for dinner. This hotel is $57 a night and nicer than the other one we stayed at. Paying the same for 2 rooms as for one tiny one at the Super 8! They're playing a card game now and I thought I'd catch up with you all!

Note to post picture of balaclava upon my return!

Plus a whole bunch of other pics I took!

Around here snow blower and snow thrower are used interchangeably, although you wouldn't call one of the huge ones a snow thrower. Usually that's the smaller ones (sometimes without a directional spout), but snowblower refers to either. But I get your point - we had to shovel twice more (last night and this morning) not because it was still snowing but because it was SO windy that it all blew back in drifts onto the driveway and I had all 3 of my boys out there working too!

We'll see how the temps go tomorrow! I actually saw 7 today, but it's supposed to be colder tomorrow! I'll try to catch up when I get back! Hold down the fort without me!

Again, I think you guys were nuts! Glad you had a great time though.

So a snow blower is also called a snow thrower in GB huh?

Evening!!!

We won our meet today!!! :woohoo:

Woo Hoo Katie. Congrats to you and the kids.

Hey Homies!
I need Cliff Notes....HELP
MAC!!!
I'll never get "ketchuped" around here! Guess who made their ressies today! Barb, can you guess???

You can do it!!!!!! It isn’t easy though.

Sad to say but the way things are looking we may be staying offsite agian this year plus we may have to cut it from 7 days to 5 days this year:sad: but at least we will be at Universal and thats always a good thing:yay:

Gotta agree, it is better than not being there at all.

Yep and still holding out for some serious mummy dust that will help us to at least get three of the days onsite but if not like I said atleast we will be there.
Mummy dust to you!

Well, DS10 is at a friend's house and doesn't know that I've made ressies yet...DS13 and DH are playing XBox Live and they are excited, but completely absorbed by their game, so it has not really sunk in with them yet. I'm elated!!!!! :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: party::jumping1:

I just found out today that DN(nephew) that always goes on vacation with us is gonna have to go to summer school :scared1: ....We have had countless conversations with him about doing his school work and it seems to go in one ear and out the other....He's a pretty smart kid, but he just doesn't try AT ALL! He's in the 9th grade and the last two year's I've been trying to pound it in his head that everything from the 9th grade forward goes on his permanent record toward graduation. He knew already that we were planning a trip for this summer and when I saw him today I asked him when summer school was....He said...."in the summer"... smart a@@! I guess I'll have to call his school on Monday and find out if they have set their summer school schedule yet. I went ahead and put him on our ressie and a rollaway bed for him. If it turns out that he's in summer school, I'll call and take him and the rollaway off.

Kids! Well if he doesn’t get to go maybe he will apply himself more next year.

Phew, I'm finally all caught up. Note to self: Check in at least every other day, or you will fall too far behind, and with your anal personality you "must" read everything.:lmao:
-Jennifer

I get behind if I don’t check in several times a day. UGH!

umm...yeah! MINE is :snooty:

(So are Elmer's boys, Ally, Janet's boy, etc.... :goodvibes )

Ahh, thanks!

Just came in to the office to weigh in. I'm at sweet 16!

Way to go!!!! Keep up the great work.

Hi guys and girls!

the boys lost their hockey game last night. It was a night of James getting pummeled with shots in net. He had almost 90 shots and the goalie from the other team only had 20. We were definately the weaker team last night. James only let in 5 goals thou. He was not a happpy camper. I think our defensemen were asleep on the job. :confused3

I'm heading out for lunch with DD, my mom and my sister. We are surprising my sister's daughter (17) at her new job hosting at a pizza place. I think she is going to die of embarrassment. :lmao:

I bet your ds was beat. Sounds like his defensemen need to step it up.

Hope your lunch with the girls was good. Did you embarrass the niece?

[I wouldn't DARE go anywhere near the grocery stores. I bet that even the Piggly Wiggly is out of basic stock items. :scared1:

We'll be heading out to "play" in it in awhile, so I'll snap some pics. It's hovering right at freezing, so it's still a little slushy on the ground.

Today is Brad's birthday, so I might not be around much this evening. Gotta make sure it is all about HIM tonight. ;)

A Happy Belated Birthday to Brad. Sorry I missed it.

this is the low down on the refillable mugs at universal.
any mug you buy there is valid for a life time.
when you use a previous purchased mug, you give it to the tm and they will refill it.
you pay the REFILL price which is less than the regular price. it is listed on the menu/price board. if you don't see it, you can still get it.

if you have the UO AP or AAA card with you, show it and you get a discount on that refill charge.
i used my AP card and only was charged $1.22 on the refill.

i have the dueling dragons ice mug with a handle. it came out when the ride went up. the counter person replaced my blue plastic straw for me last visit as the one i had in it had a hole. he, the tm, told me as long as the mug will hold the soda, it is good for refill purposes.

even guest services will tell you all the mugs sold at universal are valid for the refillable price if you use them.

you can use a mug you bought in 1997 and it is valid at UO.
believe me, i use mine on certain days.

buy the mug with a handle and you can use a mug strap to attach it slung over your shoulder. or loop the handle through a belt so you have your hands free in the park.

i only take my mug to the park if i am doing shopping, browsing, or will be on rides where i do not need to use a locker.
out of 5 days on a trip, i probably use it 2 days.

refills are not free but at a very reduced charge.
more of a discount if you show the AP or AAA card or UO MC.

1. Yep...you can tell YOU don't have children :rotfl:
2. Anyone else think "Phoebe" from "Friends"??

I love the discounts that Universal gives and the refillable mug program is great. Even at $1.22 they are still making over $1 a mug. All the parks should do it.

And yeah, I immediately started singing that song in my head.

Okay.....rant #1.......

6.gif

People!!! When you bring your small, bratty children into the salon and they are not currently being serviced, please put a leash on them!!!! You obviously cannot keep an eye on them, so tie them down!!! I do NOT need them rooting thru my cart where I keep many shears (scissors) , razors, pins and various sharp things that can harm your children! God forbid a child cuts themselves with something of mine and then you blame ME
9.gif

I also do NOT appreciate your child using my neckbrush to clean the dirty, hairy floor either!
9.gif

And, I most certainly do NOT by ANY means appreciate your child scraping the floor with my $350 shears!!!

So, please, CONTROL your children and if you cannot, I will jack your price up for your cuts SO high, you WILL look for another stylist to torture!!!

Thank you!

Okay....rant #2......

I would like to know what is wrong with the people at Body Zone??? We signed Bubba up for his 2 (not 1) soccer clinics almost a month ago....paying $300 for them. Today was supposed to be the first day......uh....no

DH gets up early and gets him and the boy fed and there 5-10 minutes prior to first clinic start time. A lovely 'staff' member tells them it was canceled and the new schedule is at the information desk.
1.gif

DH proceeds to ask precisely WHY he was not notified of the schedule change. After all, we could NOT register for these classes (online) withOUT giving our (unlisted) home phone number AND email address :headache: . Well, it's updated on the website is the given answer....not acceptable! This place has a HUGE LACK of communication here..... :headache:

So, DH grabs a schedule, has more words, and heads home.

(...rant #3.....)

He's not home quite a half an hour, and the phone rings. It's a girl from Body Zone. Informing him the 12PM class is canceled. DH proceeds to inform her that they were already there (guess she didn't realize we signed up for 2 classes) and "thanks a lot" (can ya feel the 'love'?).

She then asks if Bubba stayed to 'play' with the other kids? Uh...EXCUSE ME?? She explains that the people who were running the clinic (sub-contracters?) had the schedule change and that the field wasn't 'booked'...so, they let the kids out there anyway.
9.gif
....(did not tell Bubba this as to not upset him)

DH is furious (still and again) and says that she could have said "The new schedule is at the information desk, but feel free to stay and run around and kick the ball and play a scrimmage"...but, nooooooooo, she doesn't inform DH THAT is happening....she just snips at him "new schedule at info desk".

We are NOT happy....we pay a LOT of money to this place (place we play indoor soccer too) and they couldn't call us a couple days ago?? They couldn't email us??? I am SURE this 'cancellation' didn't happen this morning....they knew in advance..... Which, they admit, that the website is done off premise (well, duh, most are!) and sometimes they don't change the info promptly. Well...that is not MY fault and maybe YOU need to find a different website designer  .

So, our compensation for wasted time, gas and me re-arranging my work schedule...absolutely NOTHING!
3.gif
So p!ssed at Body Zone... you can bet a 'management' member WILL be hearing from me! :snooty:

Okay....rants over......

What now?? Who's next?? :confused3

Rant #1 - Oh My Gosh. I would have lost it if her kids had my shears. How do you do it?

Rant #2 - Have you talked to the manager yet? There is no reason they couldn’t have called. Well, at least you got to spend a little extra time with your guys.

Hey, there, friends! How are all the homies? :hippie:

I have had a cold lately and I ain't been good company. I hope I don't send you my cyber-germs!

I got GLASSES!! First time in my life. Just picked them up yesterday. Feel free to mock me now, and call me "four-eyes!"

chattergift003-2.jpg

Well the cyber germs are already making their way around. Maybe we gave them to you.

The glasses look great and so do you!

Our big snow storm fizzled. Yeah, sure, it did snow all day... BUT the temp stayed around 33 degrees, so there was almost no accumulation. Temperatures are dropping NOW, but the precipitation has stopped. So much for all those fun sounding predictions.

The boys are hopped up on sugar. Brad got a giant cookie for his birthday. Cookie with chocolate chips AND frosting. Oh, yeah. Young boys bouncing off walls. Can you hear them?

So that was what I heard!

drive by run

still feeling crappy

Oh man, I thought you were feeling better. When are you going to the doctor?

So now I know you're all wondering:

HOW COLD WAS IT?

IT WAS SO COLD THAT:

1. The highest reading I saw on any thermometer while driving in the car to and home from the ski place was NOT a positive number. ;)

2. Both the sliding doors on our minivan froze and we had to have everyone climb in through the front door and climb back. :scared1:

3. If you didn't know, elastic loses it's elasticity when it gets too cold. The elastic bands we had on our visors in the car that were holding maps and other papers stretched down about two inches and everything fell out from them. Once the car warmed back up, they tightened up again!

4. The ski resort we were at didn't operate one of their main lifts because "it was a 10 minute trip up the mountain and the ski patrol was not equipped to treat the number of cases of frostbite they'd end up with!"

5. (TMI ahead warning!!) When wearing your shellaclavas, they rest right under your nose. When it is this cold, your nose tends to run a little. And then the, um, "moisture" immediately freezes to the shellaclava. So then when you slide your face mask part down a little bit, it RIPS your nose hairs (that are frozen to it now!) out of your nose!

6. We were going to do ski racing today. They ended up having to cancel it because the batteries in the timing system exploded in the cold and they were unable to repair it even with new batteries.

7. We left some water bottles in the car and they froze and cracked the plastic bottles. We also had cans of pop in the hotel room (out loose, warm). We put them in the car when we packed it at 10am this morning, and by the time we ate lunch at 11:45, they were already slushy!

8. Our ski rack on the car froze shut and DH had to use a cigarette lighter to heat it up and unlock it.

9. When we got home we decided to go out in our hot tub. It took a good 10 minutes (in bathing suits in -7 degree weather!) to chip the ice off around the cover that had frozen when the steam oozing out the edges froze over!

Okay - so in conclusion it was just a TAD bit too cold to be out skiing today! However, I did complain to the ski resort that they had half the resort closed due to the lifts being closed and that racing was cancelled so they gave us free vouchers to come back!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!

Again, you’re nuts! I would not have left the warmth of my house.

Thought I better stop in and holler at da homies. . . .

COPS is on Fox in like 1 minute, so I have to hurry. Things are ok - keeping it real - getting ready to have dinner and watch some tube.

DH cooked grilled chicken and steamed veggies for din din - some giant, yummy green grapes too!

Hope you all have a wonderful evening. I might be back later. . . . I'm betting I'll see Mac's green lite around midnight. . . and, oh yeah Mac, tonight could you eat some pizza for me?? I love pepperoni, green pepper, mushroom and garlic.

I'm like Homer with a donut!

Hi Wendy. Hope everything is going okay for you. Your dh sounds like a great cook.

Thank you!! But there is a reason it is not a full-body shot! I have like 80 more pounds to lose!

Thank you...I FEEL smarter!

So what are you trying to weigh, 60 pounds or so? There is no way you need to loose 80 pounds.

A lease? Like for a year?:rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

OK, Barb, I feel this. I stopped going to my regular manicurist because she had a client who brought her helions of children with her to her appointment. My appt. was right after hers, and her appt. always ran late. Manicurist tried to tell her that her kids were a problem, but lady had nothing else to do with her demon spawn and said that manicures were the only thing she did for herself so she didn't know what else to do. I explained that I could not handle that (we all know I do not have kids for a reason), and my appointment was moved at first, but it was not at a convenient time for me, and well, it didn't work out. Now, I go somewhere else, and told manicurist to call me when she loses that client.

And, oh, PS: This lady had a SERIOUS problem. OK, fine, I get that manicures are the only thing you do for yourself. I do. Honest. But, she went every 2 weeks, which depending on the month turned out to be $40-60/month. Fine, if you can afford it. But I vividly remember one time her saying that she had done some Christmas shopping, and the kids were only getting things they really needed that year like packages of underwear and toothbrushes. She couldn't afford Christmas, but she can spend $40-60 each month of the year on manicures? You get 2 to 3 manicures a month, and your children get toothbrushes for Christmas. Yes, I know. I'm judging.

It is ridiculous for people to allow their children to behave that way. Mine would not be sitting for a week if they behaved that way.

Gotta agree with you about her doing the manicures while not being able to afford anything for her kids for Christmas. Ugh!

Hey Homies!
Just poppin' in for a minute. I'm starting my planning for my trip. I'm gonna post a thread in a little bit to see if anyone has the 411 on Universal 360 and the water show at IOA for this summer. I still can't get "ketchuped"...Mac I don't remember where I left off before my last visit....It's just too difficult. I guess I may not ketchup, but I'll try to pop in from time to time...just forgive me if I don't know everything that's going on with all of you. You know I luvs all of ya...You're my homies!

Hope you are having fun planning!

I know, same here! Toot Sweet is actually my DD's nick name. She was a gassy baby. :)

And I thought it was from Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.

you dress to stay warm when skiing then strip down to the skivies practically to go outside in fridge temps to be in a hot tub.
i don't get it......:confused3

i never tell mr mac my plans until the last minute.
he screams a lot and pouts for a few days. if i tell him now, it will be a long way off till the trip.
if i tell him way after labor day, i can handle his ways for a few weeks.

this year i am cutting back from my 15 day solo vacations.
probably will only do 13 or 14 this year.
i really really truly want to be at UO when you and mike go.

I don’t get it either. How in the world are they not getting sick?

Mr Mac just needs to understand that UO is how you keep your sanity. Why doesn’t he go with you? Can you not both be gone because of the boys? You are cutting your trip back and I am trying to lengthen mine every year.

Hi everyone!!

Wanted to check in before Mac comes after me :scared:

Still under the weather so wasn't really around that much. Watched my bro's final home swim meet of his swimming career. Sad, yes, but he's happy its almost over!

And I will start looking for designs to shave into his head for the last time!! I'll explain to anyone who doesn't' understand later.

Have a great nite all as I drift off with my NyQuil :cloud9:

Feel better Katie.

It is sad when the athletic career’s are coming to an end. Let us see a pic when yuou are done shaving his head. I remember the pics you showed us earlier.

did you hear about manning being superstitious and all that seinfeld sent him all the dvd episodes and dvd player to him?

greenbay was blockiing out the steinfeld reruns this weekend and manning heard from jerry then...

Guess that came back to bite them in the butt. You NEVER give a team ammunition to get even more fired up for a game.

Mornin' all.....

A great big THANK YOU from Bubba to you all....all smiles while scrolling thru thread this morning! :goodvibes

--from Bubba!

We are already into birthday celebrations in the House of Bubba!!! Matter of fact, one birthday gift already installed and being played :rotfl2:

Well, guess we are minority, cuz the only soda around here are those baby cans of Sprite in case of upset belly. We don't drink soda and Bubba will on a rare occassion. He usually drinks apple juice, water & milk, I drink water & milk (occassionally iced tea & wine or other adult beverage) and DH drinks water or beer (milk w/ breakfast)....so, if you are comin' to visit and are a soft drink drinker, please give me a heads up, cuz I haveta buy some :rolleyes1 And yeah, the price kills me cuz we go thru almost 4 gallons a week here

I am so sorry I missed Bubba’s birthday. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BUBBA!

We go through at least 7 gallons of milk a week.

Okay, here are some of the pics I promised you guys! We'll start with the ski ones first. Here's Brett Favre (or possibly my husband!) racing:

Here's DS15 showing how to race more aerodynamically:

i've already trotted this cake out once today, however, it's a winner...

and so is bubba:cheer2: happy birthday big guy
catnhat3.jpg

That cake was amazing!

DH just finished part of my christmas present today!
This cabinet is in my bedroom and he is going to make matching nightstands and a headboard/footboard! :woohoo:

TVcabinet3.jpg

Wow that is great. He is very talented.

While everyone is busy with football (Barnyard is on my tv), let me post all by my lonesome.

First, Janet stop fiddling with your naner. That just sounds... wrong.

Next, one of the many, many stops we made (I can still hear the whines echoing in my head) was at the Target Portrait Studio. Here's the pics of my little men.

Tuxes2.jpg

I expect the offers from GQ (or at least the JC Penney catalog) to come rolling in any minute... :rolleyes1

Tricia those pictures are amazing. The boys are so cute!!!!!!

question for any homie:

when you pull down the options off the person's screen name and you don't see the option of sending pm, does that mean the person is banned?
or what?

i was trying to pm someone on a thread.
i went to their last posting and clicked on their name for the menu.
no pm option was included on it.

I’m thinking it is because they have that option disabled. I t may also be another one of the wonderful flukes that we seem to be having with the new and improved dis.

As MotherFletcher is enjoying his holiday - WAKE UP HOMIES! I am going in early today, as I have a few doctor appointments later today. For those of you who do not have to work today, (including Mr. Jaws and JuniorJaws) call yourself lucky and hit the snooze.:cloud9:

I guess by reading this thread I discovered it will be the Giants and the Patriots. Now, I will pick the Giants. Although, I probably won't watch much of the Super Bowl - usually watch for the commercials. I'm sure I will be on the computer while Hubby watches the game.

Tomorrow morning, I have to travel again for work. We are only about an hour and 15 minute drive away. But we will be working until 7-7:30pm and this town is "in the mountains" so they get snow, and it won't be a pleasant daily drive. We get to upgrade from the Super 8 to the Holiday Inn Express.:cool1:

Have a nice day!:)

-Jennifer

Have a safe trip Jennifer.

The Pats and the Giants
are in the big show
who's gonna win?
nobody knows.
Eli and Tom will be duking it out
come on, come on,
now everybody shout!
we are the friends in a box,
yes indeed.
we'll be there when you need us,
we carry a creed.
friends thick and thin
and all in between,
we are good threaders,
and nobody here is mean!
so come on, come on!
everybody shout!
we are the friends in a box,
thats what friendship is all about

How do you do it? That was really good once again!

The general attitude here:

I'll catch up with you guys when we recover! :guilty:

Sorry Marcie. I know you guys sure didn’t the game to end like it did.

Gonna toss some more pictures at you. If you are tired of my brood, look away... ;)

The snow storm that fizzled:

Snowing1.jpg

Snowing2.jpg

Now, that pic makes me think of A Christmas Story. "I can't put my arms down!"

Here we have gathering snow...

Snowing3.jpg

Winding up for the pitch...

Snowing4.jpg

And pelting an unsuspecting little brother...

Snowing5.jpg

The cows looking around like "Where did the grass go?"

Snowing6.jpg

The boys look like they were having a lot of fun! The cows on the other hand looked very confused. Then again I think they really do adapt to it pretty well. Our horse had icicles hanging off of him during one of our storms and he really didn’t even seem to care.

::yes::

Sorry - guess it's just a big deal here! I think in New York, you probably have people who are more Jets fans, people who don't really care, or people who (like Katie) are more into another sport. Here there's one sport - football. And one team - the Packers. You might find one person in 100 who doesn't support them, but that's about it. When we were in Detroit, there was always hockey and basketball season right around the corner (and both those teams were better anyways). Here - this is it. It's over. Until next August or so. :sad1:

I guess if we had to lose to a team, I'm glad it was the Giants rather than the Cowboys or the Patriots (who, as much as I hate to say it, probably would have still beat us in the Super Bowl :scared: ). I hate both these teams. But I don't hate anything about the Giants - and obviously cheered for them for last week and will be again in a couple weeks.

DH said it was like a funeral leaving after the game. Everyone walking quietly with their heads down.

Some pics, nonetheless! The guys all bundled up before the game:

At the game early:

DS with his goggles on:

Looking around the stands - not only mostly Packer green and gold, but really about 1/3 hunter orange!

IMG_1707.jpg

Catch you all later! Have a good day! Going to be a long day at work because everyone will be in a bad mood after last night!

Great pics Marcie. I don’t know how they were able to sit there. I’m sure the mood was very somber.

tricia - more great pics. Forgot to tell you, DS wound up sitting on the tarmac in ATL for over 3 hours waiting de-icing on his way back from meetings Saturday night. (said he's never seen such antics on the roads, guess if u don't drive in it; even a dusting is a big deal?) Felt great to be able to tell him "...i told you so...". When questioned how I knew about the snow, i told him i have people.;) sounded saner than friends in a box.

Isn’t it great to have people! I like having people.

Another drive by:wave: and to those feeling sick due to colds I know how ya feel cause I feel the same:sick: hurt from head to toe.

Hope you are feeling better Lawrence.

I'm on my way over to have lunch with Carol, but I just had to share. I got a phone call from the doctor's office. I have an appointment for February 8th with a Pediatric Neurologist! They gave me a website to download and fill out the new patient paperwork. Never had anyone do that before, but it's a good idea. Anyway, here's where we'll be taking him: http://www.childneuro.org/

So glad you got an appointment set up. Hopefully it will never happen again. I had a friend with a son that had a couple of seizures one morning while getting ready for school. They never found out what caused it and he never had another one. Also

Hi all-
Can't seem to catch up at all :scared:
Been too cold in the room where our PC is set up, so haven't been on the Disboards that much, b/c too cold in the room! Wish I had a laptop :guilty:
Kids are home with me today. No school for MLK day. DH went to work as usual today.
My mom came over yest for a few minutes and complained ALOT!! She just loves to lecture at me :headache:  Has nothing to do with my dad. Just loves to lecture and put me down when DH isn't home. She does this all the time. DH and Matthew went to visit his dad yest at the nursing home. I and Chrissy stayed home and my mom came by and lectured and lectured.... :faint: She just came for a few minutes to show me pictures and then did her lecturing :headache:
I try to let it go in one ear and out the other. My mom has been like this for many, many yrs. Ok, enough venting from me....:mic:

Try to stay warm. Sorry mom came over and was such a witch again. I hate it when my mother does that. With me it will eventually turn to me not having anything to do with mine for a while. Then she stops doing it for a while. Of course it never lasts. Anyway, I feel for you and know what you are going through.

Well you can call me Mary :wave2: .

My job is a sub-para . I basically am a sub. and cover for people who are out for the day . I only do it part time 3 days a week but it is very annoying as some teachers you work with are not always the nicest people. I have met some really wonderful people and some real jerks. I work with childern that need either educational help , medical help or just special education classes that need the extra hands in the room . It is very rewarding at times especially pay day :lmao: .

Hi Mary!

Sounds like you have quite a job. Ummmm... I guess it is never boring? Looking for something positive. ;)

Git yur minds outta the gutter

Too late. :guilty:

mac - what'd u think of idol? on the fence as to tatoo girl, where'd her irish brogue go when she sang:confused:

I watched *most* of American Idol. I was quickly reminded why I don't really enjoy the audition episodes. The people who are just trying to get on camera, fine, make fun of them... but the people who just don't know that they aren't good enough, ugh. It is SO painful to watch. The girl who thought she sounded just like Mariah? You could absolutely tell from the snarky interview with Seacrest that they were setting her up for a big fall. Ouch. One of those kids is going to go off the deep end one of these days after the AI crew beats them down and then what? I dunno. I enjoy the actual competition more than the "lookie how bad they are" episodes.

I'm a bit confused on all the military stuff - are most of the people we're talking about your guys' dads or grandpa's? I thought many of you were my age, but I know my dad would be way too young to have been in WWII, but I'm pretty sure grandpa (and both of mine died probably 20 years ago) would have been too old. I'll try to look at the pics and videos later but I'm proud of them for you too! (Did that make sense?)

Janet's dad was WWII. My dad served in Korea, which wasn't technically a war. Just like Vietnam wasn't technically a war. Just like every military action since hasn't technically been a war because it requires an act of congress to declare war. But if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck... :rolleyes1

On the flip side, DS15 is no longer talking to us. We've "ruined his life". We told him and told him and told him before finals that if he ended up with lower than a B in any AP class or an A in any other class that he would be grounded until the next test (test, not quiz) in that class that he got those same grades (or better) on. Well, he ended up with a B- in calc. Not because he's a sophomore and not because he's stupid (or in his words "the class is too hard"), but because he's probably studied a total of 15 minutes a week. So now he's grounded until the next test (assuming he does well on it), which probably won't be for 2-3 more weeks.

Meanwhile he has Snow-Ball this Saturday (kind of like Homecoming level, but a winter dance). Since GF had already bought a dress, flowers, etc., we told him he could go to this, and even to the party afterwards until 3am, but nothing else until his next calc test. Well, we've ruined his life. He hates us. He spent awhile yesterday throwing things around the house and screaming at me so I threatened to take his phone. Continued to scream and locked his door and wouldn't come down for dinner. DH got home and went in and appropriated the phone, but unfortunately I can't shut his computer down without shutting this one down. So he hasn't talked to us since.

Are we being the world's most unreasonable parents? :confused3

Ummmm... no. Not unreasonable. You've got to remember that everything is SO dramatic in those teen years. It is always the worst thing EVER, but that is because they have no frame of reference for what really bad stuff is. If you want him to get the message that he has to put forth more effort in his class, then I think you have to take a stand somewhere.

And thanks for the heads up as to what I'm in for in the years to come.

Good morning all.

Do you ever have one of those days where you just have to deal with busy-work crud? Pain in the butt junk? No, not junk in your butt. I would've just said dingleberries then.

Good luck with that. Sounds like a lot of PITA stuff for one day. :headache:

Since nobody screamed in agony, here's a few more.

I must have seen this idea somewhere, because I do NOT have a crafty/creative thought in my head.

You are so talented! You are a great sister.

About 1/2 an hour ago, I was sitting here at my desk talking to you guys, and good kitty who sleeps on top of a chest that is in front of some windows on the stair landing, started going crazy, pacing from one window to the other. :confused3
I thought maybe she saw a mouse.
Nope, this is what she saw: :rotfl2:

Ok, he had enough of my camera flash, and decided to moon me as he made his getaway! :lmao:

deer4.jpg

That is amazing. Strange that it didn’t run off when it saw you. We have had a possum that kept coming up to the house, finally had to shoot it afraid it had rabbies. Also have coyotes that are getting very close to the house. Had one come in the front yard last week with the puppy outside. Think he was coming for lunch. Fortunately our beagle was out there too and went nuts when he saw it.

wouldn't surprise me to see it go higher, there's a difference between rootin for the underdog & throwing ur money away.;)

we've got our numbers for the 2 polls were signed up for; couple years ago won some bucks on a 33 poll.:goodvibes

there is a place down the road here that dips them in chocolate and sells them.... ew!!!!!!
(just not for me)

Not me. I have never even thought they looked good. I like my marshmallows burnt!

Well gang....after a LONG week of computer, internet and personal issues...I am back amongst you. :thumbsup2

Glad you are back. Hope the problems are all fixed.

lori, well that was a day i didn't expect.......

go north to take pics.

i bet your sister loves you a lot.
i bet your friends love you even more.

that was so nice of you to help sis out.

Isn’t that what sisters & friends are for? At least that is what my beliefs are.

Lori, welcome back to you too! Sorry you didn't get your pics, but I am glad you are back home safely.

Mac, who is my neighbor? And how do you know about the piece of crappy highway we have called Memorial Parkway?!

Thanks Jodie! It was a fun day.

I thought we were the only ones with crappy highways.

Okay, the dis is slow. What a surprise. Tomorrow I will begin my "ketchuping", all 33 pages worth at this point. I'm sure it will be 35 or 36 by the time I can get through everything, if not more. Gotta turn the computer over to the kiddos now. I'll yak at you guys tomorrow! Have a great night eeryone.

Okay it was 43 pages!!!!!!!

rose, i have hit the battlefields and historical places in VA.
mt vernon, colonial williamsburg, cw and rw areas.

what can i help you with.?

just let me know.

Hi all!:wave2:
Sorry I can't catch up right now. Been busy- between alot of cub scout stuff goings on, trying to figure out the right health insurance coverage from Don's job, band practice yesterday after school, watching AI last night, etc.

I do need some research help from you homies :)
This is for Chrissy's school project that is due this Friday. I have to help Chrissy make a travel poster-from the southern colonies of the USA. This is from the original 13 colonies. She has the southern colonies region: the states of: Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland.
I need just some info help with maybe Georgia (Tricia, you would probably know this stuff) ;) Is there any tourism in Georgia people go to? Is there something called Stone Mountain(or something like that)?
Doesn't have to be something people went to in the Colonial times, somewhere they go now- tourism.
I know I can just google stuff, but thought if any homies knew of any tourism hot spots in either Georgia,South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, or Maryland.
Mac, didn't you go somewhere in Virginia in the Fall?

Wish I can use Florida (Disneyworld and UO), but Florida was never part of the 13 original colonies :guilty:

Any help appreciated from any homies, thanks! :flower3:

I'll come back later, as i still need ot get in the shower and get other stuff done. I just love how her teacher assigned this assignment yesterday, due on Friday

bbl

elvis ate peanut butter & banana sandwiches (at least that's what my ma told me); she borrowed my jar of Jiff today:rotfl: ...told her 'go at it' since i'm fresh outta hot choc mix & way to lazy to make the real stuff:rolleyes1

found my slimfast powdered crap on drugstore dot com; got here in 1 bus. day standard shipping, ordered on saturday - wow. only problem, i can't remember where i stuffed my blender after NYeve:rolleyes: ; it was at least 15 years old and a cheap one to begin with (what else would my BIL gift me, probably a premium for opening a checking account). i hear tell they have combo food processors/blenders:confused3 . Anyone have one? my FP is vintage 70's:laughing:

mac - sir mick & the boys do wicked country parodies

rose - South Carolina = Myrtle Beach:banana:
the new Hard Rock hotel (assume not a loews property ala the Vegas one) will be opening this summer on site of old waccamaw pottery outlet & mini-amusement part...we haven't visited for a few years; may have to drive home from FLA & check that bad boy out.

jodie - express yourself:) ps it's a buyers market. I want to hop on some Circuit City stock that tanked over the last year, down to penny status @ $5...they have a new CEO; haven't swayed better half to my line of thinking. Of course i'm the one who bought Ford when it started to drop years back on premise it was a "blue chip" and would bounce back. Watched it drop steadily, while DH laughed & said, let's hang on a little longer. Now down over $30 a share & 0 dividend. DHs just jealous cause most of my picks pan out way better than his...guess he wants it to be my albatross.

marci - u are doing exactly the RIGHT thing with jr.:thumbsup2 we've got the same rules here, course i am the world's meanest (and possibly oldest mom in my youngest DS age group).

it must be that time of year, i spent the am trying to start my taxes, computer kept freezing; dell not answering the phone. Guidance counselor calls, wants to know why jr isn't taking Chemistry this summer:idea: . Because he'll take it & Trig next year (10th grade); Calculus in 11th & Physics 12th. Not as though he has any interest in being a math major.:headache: add it to my bad mother resume

A) he doesn't want to do it
B) i don't want to pay for it
C) it interfers with our vacation plans...should've heard the gasp on that one.

Yep....you were missed.... :grouphug: Sounds like a horrible day....but what a wonderful gesture you did for your sister..... (want to adopt me for a sister?)

Ahh, thanks! Sure I will adopt you. I think I kinda have adopted you all as sisters & brothers. I like my big homie family.

A DS game from Mom & Dad......

And THE gift......
Ryan9thbirthday015Small.jpg

(yes, we know it's rated "M", but he is VERY good at it)

Which did NOT take long to get installed.....
Ryan9thbirthday020Small.jpg

(in case you're wondering.....that sign was ON his monitor, and we had another one ON his tv....he said they were 'annoying'...everywhere he looked, there was a birthday sign!):rotfl:

He looks like he is very happy with his gifts. What a cutie!

Well, I'm ketchuped and birthday posted, so guess I can go to bed now :goodvibes

Soccer was a disaster.... we lost 10-6 (against the team that won it ALL from the first session) ....8 of those were while Bubba was in goal.... Altho, the slither of brightness, was a split second save he made! He dove and flew on the ground making a GREAT save!! I was so proud!!! :goodvibes He's okay, not too upset with the loss and such, but when the other team scores a goal in the first 45 seconds of the game, you know you're doomed

Good thing he was handing out birthday party invites before the game.... :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Catch you all tomorrow....good nite! :goodvibes

To bad about the loss. Now that you have that one down the rest should be easier!

Good morning homies thought I would stop in and say hi.
Snowing and cold and they called off school so had to take in DW to work early cause she is a custodian and when school is called off she has to be in at 6:00 am so she was late cause roads so slick could only go about 40 mph and that was pushing it:scared1:

Hope you & the boys enjoyed the snow day. Stay warm and be safe.

The phone rang at 5:30am. School is closed for today. Huh? I checked the weather. Patchy freezing drizzle possible. Again, Huh? I turned on the local weather. We are the ONLY county in Georgia closed today. :headache:

So much for our built in emergency days. I think they only give us 2 of those. Methinks they might have pulled the trigger a bit early on this one.

Well that is interesting. We had icy roads yesterday morning and they didn’t cancel school. I used it as a mommy day. I decided I didn’t want my kids out in the weather. Both of them are sick anyway and I thought it would be best if they stayed home.

Morning all ... Barb, are we in for more bad weather? Going to have to check the forecast since both Mike and I work tonight. Speaking of work, it's annual appraisal time. It's a running joke with me. About 8 years ago or so one of my managers wrote in "Areas for Development" that "Jodie should learn more patience with those who are less competent and less intelligent than she is." (How is that for a back-handed compliment? :rotfl: ). Anyway, the running joke is that every manager I've ever had just copies the same statement verbatim year after year after year. I've never been able to shake it. I can't tell you the last time I told anyone off, but I can't seem to shake the same development suggestion. Can't wait to see if that's on there again this year. I have a new manager too.

Anyway, happy cold. Good morning. Good night for me.

Cute pics, Barb! :goodvibes

Ugh! I have had a manager tell me that before. I’m sorry but I have no use for adults that can’t act as mature as my children do. I had no problem telling him that either. I wonder what the less competent & intelligent peoples appraisals said.

:furious:

<begin rant>

I want to punch DHL in the face. Repeatedly. How in the bluest of Hades can a company be so poor at delivery???? I'm expecting a package to my dad's house. There was an attempted delivery, but the ticket said "call (name of person)" No tracking number, no additional info, nothing.
That DHL office was contacted and said person was asked for, but guess what---HE WAS NOT IN THAT DAY! Now nobody (me, dad, stepmom) have any idea where the package is or when it's supposed to be delivered.
I tried calling DHL this morning, but nobody had any idea what was going on.

</end rant>

I had a shipment from Fedex that was supposed to come one day. I got a card from them that said to call or come by such and such place at a certain time. The problem was it had no address or phone number or even a tracking number. Umm, how was I supposed to check on it. It did say the company it came from so I was able to call them and they got it taken care of. Good luck with your package.

And man is that ticker getting low! I bet you are getting excited.

Who asked about my Smurf child? Janet I think? Okay, the blue from the navy icing washed off him just fine. One bath and he was back to his normal caucasian coloring.

However, Brad was with Daniel in the bathroom last night. He had Daniel on the toilet before bath time. If you don't make him go before he gets in the tub, he tends to go IN the tub. Anyway, Brad starts yelling, "Tricia, somethings wrong! Come see this!"

I rush into the bathroom where Brad is pointing to the contents of the toilet. He is worried because Daniel had some very odd colored poop. I laughed and said, "Remeber that dark blue icing from your birthday cookie? It's just working its way out."

good, he will fit in fine with me.
daniel and i both wear our food well. i'm a spiller also.
ask jodie

sometimes when i spill and we are at taco bell, mr mac tells me he can't take me anywhere nice to eat.......

did i tell you we still don't have a mailbox.......before christmas the carrier slid into ours and broke the pool out of the ground.

Oh, I am a spiller too. I swear every time I eat out I spill my tea on me.

I can not believe they have not done anything about your mailbox yet.

I WILL tell you we bought DH's for him for Christmas....and Bubba watched. (He also owns Battlefield 2 & Counterstrike...courtesy of DH) He has learned to play by watching Dad. For instance, if Dad needed a 'bathroom break', Bubba would step in and play for/as him ;) They have played CS online together many times also, and DH thought he would enjoy playing COD. Don't care if it's legal or not, it's my money to spend where i choose, for WHO i choose and i really don't hear Activision complaining I spent money on their product ;) (And, I think that law is to protect the kids who ask a stranger to purchase it for them cuz their parents won't allow them to buy it.)....which, is again, the 'talking' to your kids thing instead of just trying to shelter them from the world and just taking the easy way out and saying 'no'.

AMEN SISTER!!!!!

Lori - talk about the day from HE*& - glad to hear that you got your shots in and that you are home safe and sound!!

Jodie - DH has to do his own performace review......on top of the reviews for the 11 guys he supervises - how is that for a kick in the teeth. Good Luck for yours (just tell them not to put you with stoopid peeple)

we have no carpet here.....just a few area rugs. All wood floors (and not the pretty ones either) I think one of the projects for the spring is to redo the floors because I am not about carpeting anymore.....especially with the kids and a dog! here is a view from the girls room at the old house from when I did their floors and room not too long after Frank was born (got everything off without a sander, on my hands and knees, took about 3 days, then restain/poly'ed them)

girlsroom1.jpg

sorry if they are smallish.....they are from 2002 (and yes mac.....that is a half nekkid cbean in the background - she was about 2 1/2 and at the tail end of potty training so the less clothes, the better :thumbsup2 )

Thanks Tracie! So how does dh appraise himself? Does he give himself a good raise?

That was a lot of work. I want to switch to wood floors. Need to get that done.

lori - i knew u were seeing ur sista:thumbsup2 glad to hear u had a nice visit = good save! (i don't speak to mine, she's a mean drunk)

Well mine does drink but she isn’t mean. I don’t think she has a mean bone in her body. She is very stingy though, she took all the skinny genes for herself.

Wow, that was interesting.

no worries, Bruce Willis always saves the day;)

sorry to hear u didn't get your gear back, hope the thief rots

That is exactly what I thought!

So, what are you saying? I should liquidate my fortune and go complete my bucket list before January 30th?!

No I think you should have done that before the market started crashing.

Right now we pretty regularly walk about 4ish miles. When there's not snow, we can walk on the bike trails (which aren't paved or plowed), so we try to go 5-6 miles, but now, walking over banks and piles of snow, 4 is enough. Takes as much time. Although today we managed to follow the plow a ways which made it easier. Unfortunately the plow had come on my street too, which mean when I got home spending another 15 minutes digging my driveway out again! My kids get on the bus around 7, get ready and walk from about 7:15 to 8:25ish, quick shower, then have to be at the HS each day to drive DS between there and the middle school after his HS classes end at 9:05. Come home - have an hour to hang with you homies (or do pesky things like errands, cleaning the house, laundry, etc.), then head to work!

Okay - so what sub-cliques do we have on this thread?

1. The green carpet club! (Not to be confused with the red carpet club!) :rotfl:

2. The "I was born in 1966" club!

3. The "I celebrate my 20th anniversary in May of 08" club

4. The "I'm a Leo" club (I'm not a member of this one!)

And again more of those “nuts” comments. I would not be walking outside in that kind of weather.

I’m not a member of any of those clubs either.

Had some bad days here as well. DS12 had piano yesterday and all 3 boys had math team at a high school about 20 minutes away. Left work right on time and had told his piano teacher we'd try to be early so we could get to math team on time. Well, the normally 18 minutes drive took a full HOUR! Nope, we didn't make it to piano at all (and he has a competition Saturday so we have to find a time to make it up) and go to to math team barely on time in horrible driving.

Only to find that my 3 boys were 3 of the 4 kids from their high school to bother showing up! Even the teacher/coach didn't show! But they got 2 medals. Most of the other schools had full teams there so I'm not sure why we didn't!

Then this morning, DS14 obviously got up, showered, and laid back down to watch TV and fell asleep. Since I'd seen him awake, I didn't worry about it until about 2 minutes before the bus came and asked him if he had his gym clothes and he staggered down in his boxers. Had him throw clothes on, grabbed him gym clothes and pop tarts and threw him out the door while he whined non-stop!

Sigh - it has to get better from here!

UGH!

i'm a proud daughter:)

i sent for certified copied of both DH & my dad's military discharge (DD-214); you need them to apply for various benefits (cruise discounts lol) & including surviving spouse in my mom's case.

got my dad's today, so shocked to see that earned stars, ribbons, medals & citations a mile long:thumbsup2 . Evidently, he was a turret gunner aboard the USS Raymond during WWII, knew he served aboard a battleship & that was it refused to discuss it other than to say war wasn't like you see in the movies

I'm requesting replacement issues:cool1:

You should be very proud. Heck I’m proud! It is so sad to think of the things they had to deal with. Don’t blame him for not wanting to talk about it.

It sounds like you have every reason to be a proud daughter Janet!

My dad was the same way about not talking about his time at war. He almost never talked about his time in the Navy and never ever about anything specific from his tour of duty.

Here's my proud daughter moment. I put together a slideshow for his memorial, but I also did one for myself with my favorite memories of my dad. With apologies to Lori, here's my personal tribute (for myself) to my dad: http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff248/MooMonsters/Videos/?action=view&current=Dad.flv

Yep, you did it again!

i'm tearing up here after watching the video of dad and i don't even know the people.

the song was the clincher for me.

i think it is wonderful to have a family that is close.
you can feel the love in the pictures.

She had done it to me several times. Of course that’s just cause I care. It wouldn’t affect me if I didn’t. Those are some great pictures, aren’t they?

Nothing beats good old southern gospel.

The people are mostly my family (Mom, Dad, Susan, Darryl, Carol), but there are a few pictures grouped together in the middle of it of my circle of friends. One of my best memories from Dad's memorial was something a friend said (Donald, who shows up in some of the pictures... poker night at my parents house was always his favorite). He walked up to me and said, "Did anyone call him anything but 'Dad'? I don't ever remember calling him 'Mr.' or anything else other than 'Dad'." That was the way it was. My parents were always Mom and Dad to all my friends. Priceless.

Anyway, don't cry. If you are tearing up, then Lori will be shedding buckets when she catches up with the thread. I really have tons of happy memories of my dad. I wasn't ready to see him go... and he was gone so quickly... but my only regret is that Daniel won't have any real memory of him. He was such a fantastic Granddad to my boys.

And I am tearing up again just reading back through here and thinking about it. Geez I’m a sap!

the good
more than 33 minutes of daylight gained

the bad
still a ways to go before winter ends

the ugly
home heating oil and gasoline prices are still up there

the horrible
please cross your fingers
have to have a bone scan of the right heel and ankle tomorow
feels like a needle being injected into the heel area, or some kid hit the back of my heel with a shopping cart at Darrell Waltrip speed.....
the itsy bisty good, someone canceled and i got the appt!
last time , it was a 3 week wait....

Ouch! I hope everything is okay with your heel.

the tribute was so sweet, ur dad was a good lookin' dude:thumbsup2 . luv the pic where's he's studying the star wars toy...was it on his wish list or was he trying to figure out what the heck it was lol?

DS played alot today in the BB game, he shot & scored & stole the ball & rebounded:banana:

funny, he called into me whilst i was cooking dinner, that mr. Ledger has died...followed by: it was probably an OD...sad that they automatically think that @ 14. Even sader to think of such a waste of a talented life.

He was a very good looking man & her ma is a beautiful woman.

Way to go for the ds! Did you go to the game or was it an away game? Very sad that they automatically go there with the OD.

Only other news I woke up to is that my brother and SIL are having a girl. :hippie: Thought for sure it'd be a boy for some reason!

Alright another baby girl! Do you know what your cousin is having yet? How did the special gifts go over at Christmas?

OMG, Janet, your dad was a turret gunner?! Wow, no wonder he never talked about it. Tricia, your dad was so handsome as a young man (I didn't get to watch the whole thing here ... my connection is crud and it kept breaking up. Will try again later). My grandfather was a WWII vet also. He was shot and almost had his toes amputated for frostbite, but he wouldn't let them do it. His toes were UGLY but they were still there! He never really talked about the war either. And I never really brought it up because he suffered from terrible nightmares up until the time he died. :(

That is so sad.

Hola again!

3 more days left in the week! :woohoo:

And tomorrow i get my new teeth!!! Crowns that is.....

Hopefully this will be the FINAL time!!!

Fingers crossed for you Katie. I hope they get it all fixed this time.

elvis ate peanut butter & banana sandwiches (at least that's what my ma told me); she borrowed my jar of Jiff today:rotfl: ...told her 'go at it' since i'm fresh outta hot choc mix & way to lazy to make the real stuff:rolleyes1

found my slimfast powdered crap on drugstore dot com; got here in 1 bus. day standard shipping, ordered on saturday - wow. only problem, i can't remember where i stuffed my blender after NYeve:rolleyes: ; it was at least 15 years old and a cheap one to begin with (what else would my BIL gift me, probably a premium for opening a checking account). i hear tell they have combo food processors/blenders:confused3 .

Umm, yeah don't they think kids need a break from school???? Not going to go take summer classes unless they have done something wrong and are required take them. Vacation with the family is very important just as school is.

And with this I am officially caught up! It only took about 10 hours! I do have a life. Really I do! Now I have to go catch up on it!

i copied this from what lori posted.

"No, being the world's most unreasonable parents would have been not letting him go to the dance they had already spent money on. But if he continues to throw that fit even that would not be unreasonable. In fact if mine had been throwing things around the house the dance would have already been gone. I guess I am the worlds most unreasonable parent. "

i'm an easy going mom but when my boys got out of hand when they were a lot younger, i was the meanest mom in the world. i even scared mr mac.

one winter day the boys were 15, 14, 12 and fighting in the house.
it was a drag out, knock down, slug out fight.

they refused to stop so i called the police.

one son ran down the street barefooted in the snow.
another hid in the basement.
and good son did what he was told and sat on the couch.

they sent 3 squad cars to the house, i guess it sounded like things were out of control at the home when i called 911.

the one that took off running refused to get in the police car when they found him. i was in the car with the cop. once the copper said, i will tell you for the last time, get in the car or you will be arrested and taken to juvie hall.

he got in.

only had to call the cops one other time and then they listened to me better when i told them i had enough of the fighting.

the next day, all 3 brothers were friends again......

and now one of my sons is trying to get a job as a cop.

to think, i had an influence on him with his future career........

i have more stories i can share about parenting.

rose, i have hit the battlefields and historical places in VA.
mt vernon, colonial williamsburg, cw and rw areas.

what can i help you with.?

just let me know.
Hey Mac!
I might look into the Mt, Vernon, colonial Williamsburg stuff for the poster.
I need websites. Can you post some websites here of that you have seen in Virginia? I need written info on the poster as well as Chrissy needs ot draw a picture(I can't just print a pic and glue it on a posterboard unfortunately, teacher doesn't want that).
Thanks so,so much!!

Lori- I might look into Stone Mountain, too. Not sure yet. Thanks!

Hi to all!

we'll keep a light on for 'ya!:)

I'm a mean mom too at times. I yell sometimes(I'm sure we all yell at our kids).
I do spank Chrissy and give time- outs, b/c she doesn't listen to me or DH.
I know, spanking :scared1: bad word :scared:
