Oh yes, the TAG FAIRY would eat this up. Wishing for crabs....never thought I would see that day! :lmao:

Oh and for the models, they are really contraceptives, but I don't whip out the anatomic models to place them on. My hand will do for some of the demonstrations :rolleyes1

His test is at 9am on March 6th - actually in Saukville! :rotfl: I know nothing about this city other than where it's located on Mapquest. I also have no idea of how long the test takes, but we will be in a hurry to get back - him for school (he has both his AP classes in the afternoon) and me to work. [/SIZE]

saukville is what part of port washington was at one time.
they had more people from luxembourg live in that area than anywhere else in the usa.

i don't think saukville is much larger than about 4500 residents.

good luck to him on the road test!

Hey guys - checking in - last morning at hotel. YES!!:cool1: :cool1:

Last day at out of town - hope to get home by 6pm tonight. Looking forward to my own bed and shower.  Super 8 Motel is so NOT like home.

-Jennifer

have safe travels coming back home jennifer.
how far away are you from home?

you'll sleep so much better in your own bed tonight.

Tricia- Remember "Hey kids! What time is it?" Captain Kangaroo (CK) was Clarabelle the Clown on the Howdy Doody Show. He never talked but had 2 bike horns that he would blow and he was constantly spritzing Buffalo Bob with seltzer. He made the Clown Hall of Fame from that role before he donned the red Captain's jacket. CK on CBS aired the same day as the Mickey Club did on ABC. We watched CK in the morning and Annette in the afternoon. And Mac- Mr. Green Jeans (Lumpy Brannum) was from DeKalb County.
Bunny Rabbit was forever tricking the Capt. out of bunches of carrots. Carrots are suppose to be good for the eyes but Bunny wore glasses? He must have been doing something else that makes you go blind?
How about Tom Terrific and Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog? Tom could change shapes but you always knew it was him because of the funnel hat. Crabby Appleton was a great villain.
The Banana Man would pull out bunches of bananas from his coat and never talked beyond the falsetto "Woooow!".
I really feel old because there are friends at work that have never heard of CK!

i can relate to all those shows............man, i'm as old as you are fletcher.
i loved captain kangaroo...........

and i think i can recall the other shows you talked about.
love walking down memory lane with ya

Janet...you completely lost me on this one. :rotfl:

Tim Curry voiced part of Alien Encounter at WDW...not MIB. He was in the beginning of the attraction but I can't remember what his character was. I think he was the monster they showed in the clear tube. I think the character's name was "Sir".

todd, glad you cleared that up.
i had no idea what janet was talking about.
glad you could translate

I'm kinda confused! Is the house going to your DW or your MIL? I think it's going to your MIL, that is way she is acting all hoity toity. Aren't relatives fun! :rolleyes1

i read it and thought the house was going to the mil.
i read where barb thought the house was going to dw.

you really don't need these aggravations st lawrence at this point.
once the emotions calm down, it will all work out.

keep using that medicine for your eye.....

We don't even get to pick a date or time. You send in the form and 2 weeks later they send you your date that is usually another 4 weeks out. If you don't like the date or time you have to start all over again and hope for a better one. So basically, you have no choice but to take time off from work and school. It's hard to believe James has had his license for almost a year now. No accidents yet, knock on wood. If a teenager is stopped for any reason and given a citation, its an automatic license suspension for 30 days, until you have had your license for 1 year. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

each state is so different.
the new laws that passed for illinois make it the toughest laws in the country for kids to drive. its a progressive license here.
can't have more than one person in the car with you for first year of driving.
if you're a teen, rules are stricter.

so glad all of that is behind me.
now i just have to worry about what to fix for dinner.

Amen!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'll share your thought with my DH. . . that's really a good one!:thumbsup2

i'll second that.
i don't remember what i am seconding but it sounds good.

oh snap, now i remember why i quoted you.
it was to say congrats on that new banner...........woo hoo, yay for wendy!

Congrats Mike! More money for the cruise!!

And yeah, I'm one who's been on RCCI. We were on the Voyager of the Seas, which is a sister ship to the Mariner. Can I ask what cabin you guys have? (class/location at least if not exact cabin number). If you'd like to see my pics, I can post a link. I did awhile back, but it might be more interesting for you now since the ships are pretty identical. I'd be glad to answer any specific questions!

Johnny Rockets - eh! Skip the time and the calories.
Portofino's (I think) - the pay restaurant. We thought this was definitely worth the extra $$ and the experience. I'd recommend it.

We went to Labadee instead of the private island you're going to. I know they have 2 different ones they use depending on the itinerary.

Hi Marcie, we are in 1298, which is Deck 10, midship. I think it's a GS? Thanks for the info re: Johnny Rockets. I am sure we'll do at least one dinner at Portofino, and I think they have a steak house too? I am really looking forward to being on the ship. It's by far the biggest ship I've been on!

Lawrence, glad to hear your eye is getting better!

I would say GOOD MORNING, everyone, but I think I missed that boat, and it's afternoon already. Need to go shower and get ready for my dentist appt. I hope she does a good job. She is not the one who initially fixed my tooth as the accident was up in Maine 4 years ago (9/2003). Shattered my right foot in that puppy as well. Still have some problems, but it could've been much worse. In fact, that accident was only 2.5 weeks before my first scheduled trip to Universal and had to postpone it. :(

MF, Cheeburger Cheeburger? I've never heard! I was eating a chicken salad sandwich when mine came off ... thought I swallowed it at first too, but found it later in my sandwich wrapper. At first I thought it was chicken bone or something. :scared1:

Hope everyone enjoys his or her Friday. The weekend is here!!!

Kfed - good for you as to the demonstrations; curious - is the presentation in "mixed company"; do the kids behave? Despite being RC (sadly, i don't walk the talk) glad to hear their options are being discussed. Kids don't always follow the moral path you try to set out; certainly better than if they turn up with a disease or unplanned pregnancy. One of the mothers i've come to know over the years has twins, girl & boy. She off-handedly commented awhile back when discussing the younger Speers getting preggie; that she'd luv for her daughter to do so too (we're talking a 15 year old); so she could have another baby to raise...always wanted 1 more.

:scared1: What an idiot!

Hope all goes well at the dentist Jodie.

I am so glad it is Friday. Have felt like carp all week, wanting to sleep in but had to get up to get the kids off to school. We are having a sleep over b'day party with Ally's friends tonight. Hopefully they will all sleep in tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi all-
THank you all for the congrats for DH's job going permanent :goodvibes
DH appreciated it, too!

I'm pretty tired today and have a headache.

Has Tricia checked in yet today? Want to know how Carol is doing?

I feel bad I can't seem to respond to everyone here, but I know alot of you do respond.

Have been doing some internet research for Chrissy's school project coming up.

Re:UO trip planning. I haven't really looked into planning full steam yet, will be soon. What is this $79 or $86 for UO passes? I have no clue what that is and I need to know what that is. I need a bargain!!
I think we may go to UO/WDW maybe in June? DH and I haven't fully discussed it yet, but he can't take any vacation time until after April 15. So we might look into early June.
Also, do I need to stay onsite at UO to use the UO meal deal?
Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Jodie - just wanted to give you the link for the ship pics:

http://travel.webshots.com/album/192732222bfOzJt

http://travel.webshots.com/album/192329302AAupPp

(Darn it, I don't care if you want to see them, you HAVE to look at the pics!) :rotfl: Everyone's seen these before, so you don't have to rush over there unless you're going on RCCI too! The first link is more the ships/scenery pics, the second is more the family pics

Sounds like you're in a pretty good place. I'd be really torn if I ever cruised a Voyager class ship instead. We LOVE the aft balconies - the privacy, the view of the wake, the larger balconies, etc. But on the Voyager, compared to the twice I've had an aft balcony on the Princess ships, I'm just not sure if it was worth it. There seemed to be SO much vibration and motion - to the point where it wasn't soothing, instead it was just overwhelming trying to sleep. Felt like you were sleeping directly on top of a very large generator or something - just a constant, very loud WAA-WAA-WAA noise. Plus it just seemed So far away from everything. If we forgot anything, it was a major hassle to go back to the cabin. Never felt that way on the aft of Princess.

Voyager didn't have the steak house when we went, but I know it was on a lot of the newer ships and they were adding it to some, so it probably is on yours. If you're not on cruisecritic.com, head over there and find out which nights are which menus. Then you can look up the menus and miss the ones you'd prefer for the pay meals (always French night; for us in the future I'd miss Jamaican night).

The ice skating and rock climbing wall are things that you want to do once, but none were "do every day" things. Best time is early in the day and early in the cruise. By half way through the cruise suddenly everyone starts to realize they're running out of time to do these things and there are much bigger lines.

Oh, more ship specific advice. Unless it's changed (ask on CC), on RCCI you can order room service directly from the TV in your room. No charge other than a basic tip (I think it was automatically like $2 added to your account, but we always tipped them another $10 or so because we'd order a lot for the 5 of us!). You could get all kinds of soups, salads, chips and salsa, sandwiches, etc. Made a great snack for when you needed a carryover - around 3pm or late at night.

Okay, I'm trying this from webshots - I normally always work from photobucket, but all my old pics are in webshots. Guess we'll see if it works!

You can also check your account from your TV and sign up for shore excursions, etc. Makes it easy to see how much money you're spending and catch mistakes before the last day when you're in line with a zillion other people!

Also, you won't be allowed to go on the waterslide (just so you're not disappointed) unless you have a child under (I think) 46 inches with you. My kids were allowed on, but we weren't.

I think the soda card is definitely worth it - at least get one if you're not huge soda drinkers and (don't suggest this on CC!) you can share it. Only time it's a problem is at dinner, but I usually got iced tea (which is included). Lemonade was included at the buffet locations, but not in the dining rooms. :confused3 But usually, I'd only want a soda when we were sitting for awhile in say bingo or a show and got thirsty and we'd just get a Sprite and share it.

As far as Johnny Rockets - 1100 calories for a milkshake?!! :scared1: Definitely wasn't worth it! We just found the service to be really slow and the food comparable to say Denny's.

More questions? ;)

$79 (theoretically what it is now)/$86 (cost previously) for a 7 day/2 park ticket. The start date on the ticket never expires, but once you use the first day, it's good for 7 consecutive days only (including that first day). Really good deal compared to the old prices - much cheaper than even 2 day/2 park tickets were 18 months ago or so!

No - you don't need to stay onsite to use the UO meal deal. (I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but it was for sale in all the parks). And if you want, somewhere I still have the refillable mugs that you can refill everywhere for like 75 cents - just let me know & I'll try to dig them out and send them to you!

Todd- I never thought I could quit smoking. I couldn't sit through a movie without having to go outside and sparkin' one up. I had to leave the emergency operations center during the height of hurricane Andrew just to burn one and they burn fast in 150 MPH winds. My job said my insurance was going up because I smoked but if we sat through a smoking cessation class the rates wouldn't go up. I had no desire to quit just get the insurance rates down. They handed out a bunch of patches and if you really like the nicotine buzz you should put the strongest patch on your arm and then smoke.:smokin: I ended up quitting just from the competition with the other losers in the class. There really is no future in it and now is so socially unacceptable that pressure is coming from every direction. When I started smoking you could 3 packs and a can of Mt. Dew at the gas station for $1 and now I think it's cheaper to smoke dope.
Yeah I know...it's gotten really expensive. Another good reason to quit! :thumbsup2

todd, glad you cleared that up. i had no idea what janet was talking about.
I remember walking into AE for the first time and knowing exactly who the voice was. I think if Disney ever changed Paul Frees' narration for anyone it should be Tim Curry...you remember Fern Gully? He played the garbage monster. ;)

I'm usually pretty good figuring out who does voice overs for commercials. Like Gene Hackman for Lowe's and previously United Airlines and Stockard Channing who does the AIG commercials. It's a game for me...maybe boring to some but I like it!

..... No hiking for me, though lots of people do. . . too scared of ticks and stuff. I don't wear hats, so I try to stay out from under trees and such (my hair is way long. . . to my buttushki) so I can't shove it under a hat. . . . unless of course I borrow from Cat in the Hat and pile it up like Marge Simpson.:rotfl2:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: oh the mental image of Marge w/ a "Cat" hat :lmao:

snap, now i remember why i quoted you.
it was to say congrats on that new banner...........woo hoo, yay for wendy!

i saw that 'edit' note :snooty: i didn't make you repeat anything :rolleyes1

We are having a sleep over b'day party with Ally's friends tonight. Hopefully they will all sleep in tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!

What do honestly think the odds of that are?? Face it, you & Mac will be up playin' cards till wee hours in the morning :rolleyes1

Has Tricia checked in yet today? Want to know how Carol is doing?

No, she hasn't checked in yet today...but I'm guessing it's BECAUSE of Carol...I'm hoping she got to go visit her...OR she came home... Either way, hope it's a 'good' thing she hasn't checked in yet

Well that's just it, I am a night owl too. While I have been thrilled to have the kids back in school I have been less than thrilled with the fact that I have to get up and get them off. We had gotten in the habit of staying up till 2 or 3 in the morning and it has been very hard to get back to bed at a decent time. So, if we all stay up late maybe I can sleep till 8 or so! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I am hoping the same. Anxious to hear a report.

no elmer yet?

st larry, hope the peepers get better everyday; poor wife's tooth story;)

marci - i'm going to peek @ your pics too:)

starting to think SW is throwing darts to determine prices:confused3

Ok, so I totally don't get this. . . I'm certain I've missed something along the way, but would you mind :flower3: explaining about booking flights??? I guess I'm kinda slow. . . . :confused3

I noticed in your siggie you are going to Vegas. . . where are you staying? Do you know about the new Loew's hotel on Lake Las Vegas? We love Vegas and are taking our kids there in '09.

i went out today and bought one of the games that Todd was talking about. :woohoo:
The only one they had instock at Best Buy was Ravenhearst.
You have to find hidden items in 32 different rooms in this haunted mansion. That's the easy part. You also have to solve puzzles that allow you to unlock a door. These are pretty challenging. :headache: At least I think they are. Maybe I need a 10 year old to help me! :upsidedow
Looks like it will keep me busy for a while. :)
