Marcie - What are teenaged sons for if not for manual labor? AND, take 2 hours and watch the Polar Express. Try to catch it on ABC Family Channel when they have "The Making Of" thing after it. An all around entertaining movie and really cool to see how they made it.
Tricia - I have seen the movie - back when it was actually out in theatres (okay, I'm old), and it was what we used as a bribe for DS(now 15, then 4) to give up his pacifier. He got the book and I think it came with a little train and a whistle (or a bell?) - little gift set. So I'm familiar with the story, but don't know the songs that go with it!
Yuck...to the snow and the sickie who gave you the cold.
I agree. I'm so sick of everyone in the office being sick and haven't come up with a tactful way of saying "stay away from me, PLEASE!"
Buy something nice!
We really don't know now between the Honda and the Toyota. Seems both have pros and cons. Biggest con with the Honda is the tiny middle seat. Both uncomfortable crowded on a long trip, plus it's raised and with someone sitting there you have literally NO rearview vision. But I think overall that's what DH is leaning towards. I also don't like that it doesn't have the console with the compass. I cannot live without a compass. I know you can buy one for like $35 (digital), but it's annoying it doesn't have it.
don't know when i will return, it all depends on the situation after surgery.
i am hoping to be home sunday but will wait and see.
Hope everything goes great for you Mac and you're back with your family (well, kids at least!) by Christmas! We'll miss you!

Oh yeah - and to those (Marci, Barb) who have terrible bosses - my business partner and I gave Monday 12/24 and Monday 12/31 as paid days off to all our employees this year.![]()
(Any chance, you two might want to relocate to almost heaven West Virginia!!)
-Jennifer-
Yeah, I'm still not really certain if I'm supposed to even be making up Christmas and New Years' Day. See, I get paid hourly, but they're too lazy to calculate it each time so they just do an average and calculate it into a salary. So theoretically any hours I miss (ie on Christmas), I'm supposed to make up. I'm assuming at least those 2 (and Thanksgiving) are paid holidays and not making them up. If they insist otherwise at some point, I'll just tell them to dock the pay because I'm not coming in any more! But I was told I needed to make up the hours for NYE and Christmas Eve (only open 3.5 hours, I work 5.5), so that's what I did last Friday.
Oh, and now I'm stuck with the "Almost Heaven, West Virginia" song in my mind!
Any chance I am included in that? I am working both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We used to have a company-wide half day on Christmas Eve where parents would bring in the kids to see Santa, there'd be refreshments, music, etc. Now, if you work anything other than a full day, you must use vacation time (same applies to NYE). No parties. No Santa.
On Christmas, we used to get double pay for the day, and they'd provide us with a small meal as a thanks for working the holiday. Now, no meal. Pack your own lunch. And, no more double pay. We get a "comp day" to be taken within 2 weeks after Christmas. Thanks for working Christmas. Take off January 6 on us!
Well, of course Jodie - you're also one of the charter members of the "my boss is a weenie" club! No double (or anything else) pay for me either! Sorry you have to work both days. That really sucks. Was it at all voluntary or were you forced to? You'd think they'd split it up at least and make more people work one rather than you working two! Do you have internet there (back) yet? You could at least talk to us!
LOL you keep reminding me cause still haven't finished yet my youngest DS keeps asking what he is getting and saying he wants Halo 3 but for one its too violent and too much $$$ for one game and Oldest DS just wants 2 pairs of jeans![]()
he is making it easy on us but yongest wants to make it hard

I see your youngest is 11. Would you consider it for your older son? We bought it for our oldest, who is almost 16, and I didn't consider that it would be possibly too violent. As far as $$$, I did it on Black Friday so I got it free with my Xbox 360 purchase. I also went back and got him Halo 1 (9.95!) and 2 (29.95) as gifts too. Is it really that bad? He plays the Medal of Honor games on Wii/PC so I was hoping it was similar.
Okay, changing the topic. I was reading job listings (wonder why?), and thought this one was funny:
Receptionist Part-time position needed for veterinary clinic in Neenah. Experience with animals and computers a plus.
I'll go apply for it and talk to the computer "It's okay, nice computer, you're okay boy, there you go!"

We didn't get the ice this morning. It stayed around 35 degrees so it never changed over. Now they're saying rain all day tomorrow and DS is supposed to go skiing with his girlfriend. Let me say from experience that 35 and rain is NOT the best ski weather! (Or actually, from the experience, the best soccer tournament weather. Or really, the best weather for ANYTHING!).
Well, I'm off today (HALLELUIA!!!), so I'm going to meet DH for lunch and finish up all my last minute shopping! Catch you all later!
