well it looks like Georgia, then to Okie, then to WV.

gonna be a good road trip

Okay, it's crazy around here but I'll try really quickly to catch up! I have a sick kid. Got up, took a shower, told me he was dying and his throat hurt and promptly went back to bed for 6 hours. I made him go to piano this evening, but he's dragging again. This is when I REALLY hate my job (have I ever mentioned that before?). Leaving a sick kid home asleep while I go do inane work really bothers me!

Meanwhile DH is out of town and the forecasts are horrible for tomorrow. And I have to go to work early to have time to drive home during lunch and take other DS to the dentist. Yes, DH made the appointment to take him but then had to change his travel schedule in order to not miss the Packers' game. I'm really getting annoyed by his travel and moreso his planning. It's like "do we have anything Feb 7th" and I say, "yes, that's the planning meeting at the middle school?" then he schedules travel for then anyways.

Right now he has travel planned for now (when he promised to take DS to the dentist), the 7th (when I told him about this meeting we were supposed to be at), and the 21st, which is one of only 2 days my kids have conferences and we have to squeeze in 24 teachrs into about exactly that many time slots! Why ask my opinion if you're not going to do anything about it? :confused3 And most of these could be done another time, but heaven forbid he miss the Packers' game or the Super Bowl (which the Packers obviously aren't even in!).

I already called DS in sick for soccer tomorrow because there's no way I can drive 20 minutes home from work (and that's if the dire storm doesn't hit), then drive him 20 minutes back to soccer, meanwhile pick DH up at the airport, pick 2 other kids up from jazz band and play practice (in the opposite direction), drive back to soccer and get him to church a half hour later. Not doing all the driving with 4 plus inches of snow, freezing rain, and 50mph winds forecast! :scared1:

One of the many boxes (or garbage bags, I don't remember) in our basement is my maternity clothes.

Why? I don't know.

Got you beat! Not only do I have boxes of maternity clothes, I have boxes labeled "MARCIE'S MATERNITY CLOTHES"! This is important so that I don't get them confused with my husband's maternity clothes, or all the ones my boys have stored away! :rotfl:

I like the picture of GF and her best friend. Are they the lifelong friends? Like they've know each other since first grade or whatever?

I know they've been friends at least since elementary school, but don't know how much longer. It's really weird having moved with the kids starting high school. We'd lived in our last city/house for over 12 years - so when we moved in my oldest were 1 and 2. So everyone we knew, we'd known since their kids were the same age. So seeing them in middle school, especially as some of them got in the "I'm so cool" stage - you know, the belly button rings, and slut look was just so funny because I could picture the same girl crying at bible school because she missed her mommy at 4.

Here, moving in now, I only see the girls as teens. I don't have a picture of them at 2 or 3 or 4. In some ways it's easier, but in some ways I feel like I've missed a lot of the background in knowing whether these are good kids or not!

Tricia and Lori - When we moved from apartment to our first house, we also had some boxes. I don't know if it was 5 or 10 years, but we found items that were still in the boxes. They went to our charity yard sale. We never missed them.

Yeah, but don't you have fun pulling out boxes you haven't in years and going through them? It's not usually stuff you "need", but stuff that brings you back in time.

Although, we had some real "fun" doing it a couple years ago. Going through all our cardboard boxes in our detached garage. I opened one and looked in it and thought "wow, that's a realistic looking stuffed animal", when it MOVED!!! It was this HUGE possum! I shrieked and went running out of the garage. And this thing just wouldn't get out of the garage. Got DH and it slithered out of the box, but even when he tried to hit it with a stick, it just stood and glared at us. Finally he revved up the snowblower (this was probably in May!) and chased it out. NOT a fun experience! After that we made the transition to storing everything in plastic bins instead!

Okay, off to get a sickie into bed! Catch you all later! Sorry I couldn't do a better job catching up!

cruising thru channels the other day, as Nascar aint on yet,
i saw some show that features Paulas two sons.
they go on trips and find the best food in states.

u may think it's cluttered, trust me - it's extra-ordinary clean as basements go...i used to see ones with (i kid you not) dirt floors when i listed house. we used to joke amongst ourselves it would be good for hiding the bodies (or treasure):)

ps i thought they didn't have basements down south:confused:

trying to decide whether to watch the harlem globetrotters on tv now

Jennifer, thanks for the info. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to a schmo like me who should probably use something better than Turbo Tax. :goodvibes

Janet, glad you are eating. Feed a cold, starve a fever, eat rice with pneumonia?

Penny, I would be totally afraid for you to come to my house. I can barely keep up with myself, much less a husband and 2 black cats where 90% of my carpeting is beige. We rent a dumpster every other year just to get rid of crap. I had my own crap. Then Mike sold his house and brought his crap here. We're terrible.

Oh, and do we have any psychics in here? Can someone tell me when my dang dentist is going to be in? I have been trying for days to get a hold of her to straighten some things out. Anyone else have a dentist who doesn't have a hygienist? My dentist does all the teeth cleanings. Odd.

but what about non-child dependents; do they rack up the points too
Janet, I think (think - don't know) that the $300 per child rebate has to do with the child tax credit. I think this means you aren't getting $300 for any other dependent. Also, if you claim a 19-year old college student as your dependent you don't get the $300 for him either. (I do think you could get the $300 if the dependent was your grandchild.)

paula who abdul?
:rotfl2:

told me he was dying
Marci - he's just in training for when he is an adult male.:lmao:

This is when I REALLY hate my job (have I ever mentioned that before?).
No, I thought you were planning on spending your golden years there. (perhaps they will get your paycheck right by then)

Anyone else have a dentist who doesn't have a hygienist? My dentist does all the teeth cleanings. Odd.
Jodie - my dentist only has the hygienist on Fridays. So if you want to come another day to get a cleaning, then he does it himself. He does have a dental assistant, but I guess you need the dental hygienist to do cleanings. So not too odd.:)

Ally called from school today. She was the 4th one to go home early in her building. Think I would have let him miss the piano practice. Sounds like he feels pretty bad.

Now Royce sounds like he needs a swift kick in the butt. Either you need to not work and be able to take care of things or he needs to listen and not schedule trips out of town when there is something else going on that you need help with.

Good luck tomorrow.

ps i thought they didn't have basements down south:confused:

trying to decide whether to watch the harlem globetrotters on tv now

We do not have basements in Oklahoma, at least not in many houses. Our ground is to rocky for it. We do have storm shelters though, guess they don't have to dynamite out as much rock for a cellar.

I have never heard of a dentist that didn't have any help. Have you gone by the office? Maybe she is avoiding you because she owes you money.

Well Madie is here tonight and has a very bad rash all over her stomach. It looks like the measles to me. :headache:

/
Nightshift punchin' in :teeth:

I'm hot!
I see you made friends with loewsemployee.:lovestruc: Do you think she's real? We could use someone inside but I'm not sure about the bribe thing? :cop:

Nah...wouldn't say friends....just a 'welcome'. Isn't how I assume it's a "he" and you assume it's a "she"? ...... and, I know you can't stay mad at me :flower3:

OK, finally got to read all the newspapers yesterday from last week when I was out of town and discovered a good article about the tax rebates.

JawsOpinion: This is an "advance" on your 2008 income tax. When you file your 2008 tax return (in April 2009), the amount of rebate will be calculated as part of your return. Thus, many refunds in 2009 will be smaller than normal. Remember you got an "advance" in spring 2008. This is what happened in 2001.

1. Glad you are sleeping in your own bed this week :goodvibes

2. Thanks for the info on the proposed tax rebates:hug:

3. Toldya so :headache: You have to know the government is not going to GIVE us any money for NO reason....I knew it'd be an 'advance' on refunds :headache:

Morning All!!!!

Just wanted to pop in and say Happy Monday
:duck::duck::duck:

Good Morning yourself Ms. Bean ;)

Good morning, all!

I am happy to announce that my fridge is clean. Immaculate even! The winners were an unopened tub of cottage cheese that expired 3/2/07 and 2 containers of mayo. We don't use mayo in this house, so when we have a BBQ, people know to bring their own and then leave them here. One expired 5/2005 and one expired 3/2006. Woops!

I am looking forward to a meet! Looks like there are a lot of us. I will bring my camera, for sure! I promise to watch my sailor mouth, but no promises on that if we get a wake up call before 11! :lmao:

I will be able to sleep better tonight knowing you don't have over 2 year old mayo in it ;)

Why do I think you'll 'forget' your camera at the meet? :rolleyes1 EVERYONE bring a camera!! ...that way SOMEBODY will have proof!

jodie - did the snaggle tooth;) every get fixed properly? more importantly, how did the roots (hair) go:lmao: . over 2 months for me, look like a skunk.

told my dentist (who did his own cleanings since he was cheap & didn't want to pay a hygentist:rolleyes1 ) that he was just to rough & i was going to have to go elsewhere for a cleaning...my gums would bleed owie

he finally hired one 2 days a week...she has knocked off 2 of my caps so far flossing during the cleaning:headache:

at least the dentist paid for the deductible, one had to be replaced.:confused3

marci - i'm slow, just caught the possum story:eek:

anyone ever do the ESPN weekends, sounds so :cool1:

our sponsor, DU, has the info up for this year; think i'd rather do it than the soap weekend:idea:

I think I've got PMS working on me too.

You know, I read somewhere that when women live together, over time they begin to "match cycles". Have we been hanging out here together too much?

:rolleyes1

:cool1: Another landmark! We've hit a few here lately. Yay Tracie! :cheer2:

Congrats to you also!! I see you surpassed 1700 today

You know, it was really scary when she had to be rushed in for the surgery. Really scary. And we are still holding our breath until they can do all those post-surgical scans and tests to tell us that, yes, they are absolutely certain that they removed all the cancer from her body. BUT, all things considered? She'd still be in chemo hell now... she'd still have the questions and surgery looming out there in the uncertain future... I gotta say, it looks like this was absolutely the best path for her.

I thought so...she's been home and you haven't been mentioning too many bad things.... It seemed the best thing to do and I'm glad, thus far, it has been :goodvibes

RVGal said:
That contact does go to Brad's email. His work email, which I try to remember to check a couple of times a week because sometimes he forgets completely.

:rolleyes1

I think we have a sitcom in the making! "Jodie and the Beans"

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Why do I have "Josie and the Pussycats" song running thru my mind? :confused3

Suddenly, I'm reminded of a bit that Elayne Boosler used to do in her standup routine. She was cleaning out her fridge, a rare thing, and ran across a lime. "A lime? When did I buy a lime? I don't use limes. I don't eat limes." That's when she realized that it wasn't a lime. At one point, it had been a head of lettuce. :lmao:

:rotfl:

I also dragged myself out of bed this morning.

My throat feels like its on fire.
I wish I could eat popsicles while I'm working. :sad1:

Since it's evening by now...hope you are feeling better  :wizard:

You need to send your resume to my workplace. Not only do people eat popsicles, they have five course dinners at their cubicle desk!

address?

FUG (Fat Ugly George Clooney) is in the hospital with pneumonia as we speak.

And we know you go visit every chance you get :flower3:

Hey to everyone else! Hope you are all having a terrific day!

Hey yourself :wave2: ...and, no, I had a crappy day :sad2:

rebate-schmebate - just knew it would just be an advance of the "normal" end of the year one...the one everyone takes great delight in telling me i am a fool for planning...where i lend uncle sam free usuage of my tax dollars just to get a refund...

let me tell 'ya, it beats the heck outta owing money; which is what happened to us the last special check go-around.

the rest pays for vacation(s)

and YOU ....you need to get better....it is ridiculous to feel like crap for 2 weeks.... :sad2: GO TO THE FRICKIN DOCTOR ALREADY!!!! But, I will agree....I don't mind letting them give me my money back at the end of the year cuz it certainly beats me paying them MORE money :headache: (....we use it for vacation too  )

please please please

cross your fingers

I have an interview at 330 pm tomorrow.

possible job.

fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes....you name it, I have it crossed...... ;)

I am moving in next door. You want to too?

Maybe we could all move together in the same development? :scratchin .....would give new meaning to "There goes the neighborhood" :lmao:

(We could all be our own "Desperate Housewives" :rotfl2: )

barb jarred my memory - can i state that i saw my very 1st desperate housewives (actually the last 15 min...where the tornado came:eek: :thumbsup2 )

i may be hooked

is it usually so action packed?

Here is a shot I just took of the stairs leading down.

Basement1.jpg

That ain't so bad....once you clear the stairs, piece of cake :thumbsup2 I know it just LOOKS bad cuz you (like I) have a tendency to just 'chuck it' there and get it when you go that way.... ....never seems to happen tho :confused3

I was tired of tripping over the Shake N Go Racetrack, so I boxed it up and shoved it under the bed.

And have our boys 'found' it? :rolleyes1

No monsters... just more crap...

Basement5.jpg

:rotfl:

See? Toldya....not that bad! ;)

Maybe she has a really good life insurance policy on him!

 (she's doing it on purpose)

The thing about this "rebate" is nothing has been passed yet. And Bush goes out of office in '08. Who knows what the next Prez will do to taxes.
:) Jennifer

Altho I wish, I think the '08 is a typo...I believe you meant to say he is out of office in '09..... Funny thing...Bubba and I were at Walmart one day and walking back to the car, a bumpersticker caught my eye: 1-20-09. I asked Bubba what that date was....he didn't know :headache: I told him it's the DAY you turn 10!! What a birthday present  .....sorry, I know, no politics :headache:

Don't blame you...I wouldn't drive all over crazy in THAT weather :sad2: Better have a talkin' to with your DH :rolleyes1

I wouldn't say "action packed" but VERY entertaining.... it is a good show...the first season was awesome, then Marc Cherry wasn't writing the 2nd season and we could tell....almost stank :headache: He went back to writing and it got better....

He does write very funny, quirky, humorous lines for the ladies and interesting stories..... Always a mysterious story with one of the characters too....

It's a cross between drama and sitcom.... watch it from the beginning...it's good...(I have it on dvd if you want to borrow the first couple seasons ;) )

:confused3 me either

Jennifer, thanks for the info. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to a schmo like me who should probably use something better than Turbo Tax. :goodvibes

Which of those 'box' ones are better? Turbo Tax or Tax Cut? (or whatever the other is?) I have to ask, cuz people are always askin' ME stuff about hair :rolleyes1 (fyi, we don't do our own taxes....let's just say ours are complicated and my Uncle [who's a CPA] does ours :goodvibes )

Ally called from school today. She was the 4th one to go home early in her building.

Well Madie is here tonight and has a very bad rash all over her stomach. It looks like the measles to me. :headache:

I think I missed something....why did Ally go home early today? :confused3 I hope Madie doesn't have measles....i heard they were making a comeback....but, still.... :sad2:
barb - did u punch the time clock?popcorn::

ps quit posting so much:rotfl:

:confused3 posting SO MUCH??? YOU have more posts than me missy.... :snooty:

Me too! I never knew anyone with one when we lived in North Carolina!

Anyone else have a dentist who doesn't have a hygienist? My dentist does all the teeth cleanings. Odd.

I agree! I bet our dentist has 6 hygenists. And yet you can't get ANY appointment with one of them unless you book at exactly the 6 month period (think ADR's!) But if you have say a cavity or something, they can get you in to see the dentist within a day or two. Guess he just sits around waiting for the "big money" things!

Marci - he's just in training for when he is an adult male.:lmao:

No, I thought you were planning on spending your golden years there. (perhaps they will get your paycheck right by then)

You're the second person today to tell me that same line on the adult male thing. ;) Really, though, he just seems like a pathetic little boy when he's sick (this is my 12 year old so he's still on the line between kid and teenager!)

And yeah, okay about the job!:rotfl2:

I might have let him miss piano, but we skipped last week because of the weather and had to reschedule and I didn't want to do that to the teacher again. He's back home and in bed now so hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Thanks for listening on the whining about Royce and for the well-wishes!

I'll hope it's not measles! Has she had any vaccines lately? Eric had his chicken pox booster last summer and broke out in a rash all over his arms the next day. The doctors office insisted it couldn't have been from the shot?! :confused3 Or is she on any antibiotics? I've had that happen a couple times with my kids. They've taken one a bunch of time and all of a sudden end up with a reaction from it. Good luck!

And we know you go visit every chance you get :flower3:

:rotfl: Yeah, just like I would with my boss!

Anyone else think raven didn't pick her son up at the airport and just hopped on a UO-bound plane instead :scratchin

:lmao:

Hope you had a good day Rave!

I have to ask, cuz people are always askin' ME stuff about hair
I don't cut my own hair, not even with "good scissors".

Seriously, I could never operate the curling iron. My style is mousse and air dry for 15 minutes, blow dry for 2 minutes, brush, spray and go.
Perhaps with my big tax rebate, I can hire you to be my full-time hair stylist. You know the kind that would come to my house and style it every morning.
:)

Regarding the "tax box". I really don't know as we use professional tax software in our office. I would imagine either "box" would be good for the basics - W-2, interest, dividends, itemized deductions. I would recommend anyone with a small business go to paid tax preparer to ensure you get all the deductions.

That's it for me tonight. Fletch and I will check in on you in the AM.

:) Jennifer
