in all seriousness.....

I have always wanted to visit Georgia.

Looks like Tricia is getting a visitor.

we CAN talk about the rebate. I am okay with it.
I just figured for some it would be a major hot button issue like the whole political scene.

Oh, see, now for a minute I just thought that maybe you made way toooo much money, and you were jealous of all those who were getting a rebate! ;) :goodvibes

rebate-schmebate - just knew it would just be an advance of the "normal" end of the year one...the one everyone takes great delight in telling me i am a fool for planning...where i lend uncle sam free usuage of my tax dollars just to get a refund...

let me tell 'ya, it beats the heck outta owing money; which is what happened to us the last special check go-around.

plus, after paying the local taxes & a cd or 2 (yep, they're bad for you too:rolleyes1 6% guaranteed not shabby imo)...

the rest pays for vacation(s)

obviously, i'm a cranky cuss today...up 1/2 the night/slept off & on thru the day:headache: ; hope these pills work. DH called the dr; he's dragging me mid week if i don't make an improvement. think it's been 13 or so days.

sharon - sorry to hear, nip it in the bud...i'm addicted to the chloraseptic spray/cherry.

dogs are good for cleaning out the fridge;) ; no left overs past 3 days here - either the kids scarf it down or out it goes...i'm paranoid about a clean fridge (only thing that would pass muster except for my mirrors lol)

jennifer - thanx for the review of the works:thumbsup2 but what about non-child dependents; do they rack up the points too:wizard:

bbl; must make some 1/2 baked attempt to throw leftovers around

I am moving in next door. You want to too? I don't think it gets nearly as cold there as it does in Utah!

Penny, I would LOVE for you to come to Georgia. I would LOVE for you to come and visit me. However, I don't know if your Wicked Monkish heart could withstand a trip to my basement.

Here is a shot I just took of the stairs leading down.

Basement1.jpg

I'm afraid to post any pics from the actually basement floor. You may not survive the horror.

I am on my way!
Stairwells with stuff hanging around them bother me to no end.(well, in my case, everything does. )It is an exit area. It needs to be obstruction free.

are you sure you want me???? you might end up locking me in an rv halfway thru the visit and shipping me to Hong Kong.

if you are interested in the swiss chicken casserole dish, pmail me. i will send the recipe to you.
I am no Martha or Rachel or Paula.

paula who:confused: abdul?

state of union's on tonight, anyone need to be told what state we're in:rolleyes1 my ife is good darn it - all a state of mind; I do it with mirrors:banana:

The stairs aren't usually that bad. We just hauled the boxes of Christmas stuff down to the bottom of the stairs... and... they haven't really moved since. The rug and huge pillows were tossed down there a few days ago when I was doing a crazed attempt to find somewhere to put all the Christmas toys. Yeah, I was tired of tripping over the Shake N Go Racetrack, so I boxed it up and shoved it under the bed. It kept catching on the rug, so I got mad at the rug and threw it downstairs.

I don't think you would survive. I'm thinking of just throwing open the basement door and having a "come & get it" sale.

Have you seen Paula Deen's husband lately?

He was always a big man, but now he is seriously overweight. She is going to kill him with all that rich cooking!

Tricia - your second photo of the basement does not look to bad! Looks like you need to buy more shelving units. That's what I do instead of throwing stuff out. Just buy more shelves. Someday I'm going to run out of room thou!

Penny - good luck tomorrow! :thumbsup2

I'm going to PM you in a minute for that recipe. I was over on the CB earlier copying crockpot recipes.

LOL Paula Dean is not only doing in the hubbie cause have you seen her oldest son cause when she started on the food network he was skinny now he looks like he is balloning up and I am not a small fella but man can't be good to gain that much weight that quick.:scared1:

Maybe she has a really good life insurance policy on him!

Him too!

Are those 75K/150K amounts before deductions (like 'taxable salary' v. gross salary)? And is that based on 2006 numbers or 2007 numbers?
Jodie - the 75/150 amounts would be the "adjusted gross income" on your 1040. Thus, if you have 401K withholding and pre-tax health insurance, deducted from a gross salary of $75,000 your AGI on your 1040 would be less than $75,000. As to 2006 or 2007, this I don't know. I know many have filed 2007 but many more will wait until April 15 or even file for an extension. I can't see how the IRS is going to be able to use 2007 and get the checks in our hands by early May (which is what Prez wants).:)

I have never known a bakery department to NOT add a message to a prepared cake for free...
Totally agree - it's how I buy cakes for everyone but my son. And our WalMart has done this (along with the supermarket).:confused3

So, will the "rebate" count as income in 2008? Or will it just count as a lein against what we would normally pay April, 2009?
I don't think it will be income. Federal tax refunds are not income and federal tax payments are not deductions. I think the "rebate" will be subtracted from the refund you calculate (thereby giving you a smaller refund) or added to the payment you calculate (giving you a larger payment). I don't know if it will be a dollar for dollar offset. They may increase some of the exemptions, credits or lower the tax tables as they did the last time we did rebates.:sad2:

The thing about this "rebate" is nothing has been passed yet. And Bush goes out of office in '08. Who knows what the next Prez will do to taxes.

Or should I just shut up?
And miss the ravings of a sleep-deprived, drowning in laundry, PMS homie?

:)

P.S. to Penny - I had already responded to Jodie or Tricia, before I read your post. I have tried to not put any political opinions on this. We accountants agree that there may be some major tax changes depending on who is elected in November 2008. We just don't know what they are yet.

:) Jennifer

Penny - please come to my house and clean out closets. I always liked the program Clean Sweep. I just can't find the time to completely empty out the room.

Tricia and Lori - When we moved from apartment to our first house, we also had some boxes. I don't know if it was 5 or 10 years, but we found items that were still in the boxes. They went to our charity yard sale. We never missed them.

Well that would be nice. The boys have tried to clean it out several times. Dh says it is our life. I am so glad to know that my life is a pile of junk boxed up in the garage.:headache:
