Okay Jaws (Do you have a friendlier name you'd prefer we call you by?), these are the links to my webshots pics in case you'd be interested in showing your DH cruise pics. They're from Princess with my DH in 2003 and my mom in 2004 and from
Royal Caribbean with the whole family in 2004. We're huge aft balcony fans as you'll figure out from looking at the pics. When my mom and I booked our cruise, we just basically looked for whatever ship had one available the week we were planning on and that's how the itinerary was chosen! DH & I are contemplating booking a cruise for our 20th anniversary as well in 2008 - when's yours? Ours is May 27th, but we probably wouldn't cruise until November.

Why would I do it? Simply for the food! I love the "eating out" as much as you want thing more than anything about cruises. Yes it's fun to visit different ports, do various excursions, etc., but for me it's probably mostly about the food. We aren't into as much stuff in general on cruises - we love sitting on the balcony, relaxing and watching the water go by. But we love eating out and on a cruise you can do it twice a day with multicourse meals. Breakfast we tend to eat light so we can enjoy lunch and dinner, so it's easy to just grab a little and relax on the balcony while you eat.
But the great thing about cruises is that you can do as much or as little as you want. Folks like us can rest on their balconies 20 hours a day (yes, we even slept on them sometimes!) and eat the rest. But when we went with the kids, we pretty much did non-stop activites instead. Ice skating, rollerblading, rock climbing, quiz games, pools, etc. It's all there, along with casinos, bars, shows (we rarely do any of these) for the people who want something different. You can do anything in ports - from sleeping on your balcony, to golf, shopping, sightseeing, scuba diving, viewing historic ruins, biking, horseback riding, etc.
Basically I just can't see how someone couldn't like a cruise these days unless they were REALLY susceptible to motion sickness. I know a lot of peope who were hesitant to cruise because they feared they might be, but once they went, none of them ever got sick. You can always get prescription meds and bands, etc., if you think you might, but otherwise I just can't see what there'd be to not enjoy!
What month are you considering cruising? If you're only going to Bermuda, and want a "warm weather" cruise, you may need to go around the summer months - look at weather.com - the climate there is comparable to say South Carolina - so if you go in January, it'll be in the 50/60's, not the 80's! Feel free to ask any questions - that would be on Royal Caribbean, right? We thought that was a good cruise line. We love Princess, but especially if I went back with the kids again, we'd cruise
RCCL instead just for the activities (and the food was probably better).
