Janet - where are you reading that for Golden Ticket awards? Is that a different category than the overall awards? I know Cedar Point nearly always wins, and doing a Google search, I came up with the overall winners as:

Cedar Point Sandusky, Ohio 37%
Pleasure Beach Blackpool Blackpool, England 10%
Knoebels Amusement Resort Elysburg, Pa. 8%
Islands of Adventure Orlando, Fla. 7%
Disneyland Anaheim, Calif. (Tie) 6%
Kennywood West Mifflin, Pa. (Tie) 6%

Tricia - yeah, the cheesehead thing is still around, but probably not as big as it once was. Everyone still knows what it is, but you don't see thousands of them in the stands.

i'm on laptop, can't post the direct link; go to main site

amusementtoday (dot com)

believe you've Best Park category...there's a gazillion of them

scroll down to Best Halloween Event:thumbsup2

i'm tempted to believe while surely a worthwhile site/poll; that it's a bit of a beauty contest/easily skewered by rabid fans:confused3 . I luv "my" Kennywood; no way is it in the same playingfield as Disney or Universal.

I'm numb, comfortably numb - hope it never wears off;); do detest the clove taste of medicated fillings - yuck.

jodie - aren't you gone yet? run, run, run-away...

tricia - mighty cold for the south...brrr; it's 80 here - woo-hoo! Keep those babies toasty.

My sister, Carol, had her visit with the oncologist and surgeon today. All the results of all the tests are in. It's not good.

Her cancer is inoperable at the moment. Her condition is rare. One in every 1,000 people that receive radiation for breast cancer develop this kind of cancer in the 5 to 10 years post treatment. It is sarcoma, aggresive and fast growing. It is not contained to the breast. It has spread into the chest wall.

They are scheduling her for massive chemo in an attempt to shrink the cancer to a size that they can remove. The one positive is that this form of cancer usually responds well to chemo.

She is scared. For the first time, so am I.

Tricia,
I am here to lean on at any time.:grouphug:

I will pray for your family.

here we go again.....:rolleyes1

this is a 4 page thread in just 90 minutes of time that started when someone put out a topic under theme parks
"leave the infants at home...."

I aint kidding you.......

Thanks Penny.

I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a LOT of leaning here.

I can't allow myself to fall apart as much as I'd like to. I have to choose my moments.

:sad1: tricia, you must feel devastated. We are here for you:grouphug: . Focus on positive thoughts. Know it's hard to be "the rock" in times like these.

Wishing the best possible outcome for your sis and that God grants you both the strength to weather this storm:wizard:

Goodness, Penny! The thread is less than 2 hours old and already 5 pages long? We've already taken the "infant" statement and incorporated strollers, heelys, ageism, AND vomit???

Here's the link in case it falls down the list: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1597928

I don't think it'll slow down until it gets locked. popcorn::

Thanks Janet!

Yeah, I'm not feeling particularly rock-like at the moment. More like my foundation has been shaken. I'll hold it together... mainly because I have no choice.

Tricia, I'm so sorry about the news on your sister. I know how terribly hard it is to see someone close to you in a situation like that. I hope and pray that they can do something for her.

Todd - Sounds like you are enjoying your time at HHN. I would personally rather face a mountain of laundry than walk through a haunted house. I haven't seen a horror movie since I graduated from high school (unless you count Silence of the Lambs... and I don't...). I know a lot of people enjoy the sensation of being scared, but I'm not one of them. It doesn't thrill me... it ticks me off. I *think* my hubby has finally figured out that if he scares me, I won't find it funny... ever. Instead, he might get a momentary chuckle, but then he will suffer the consequences. ;)
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Tricia- So sorry to hear about your sister
She is in my prayers.
Is there a way to try that Cancer Treatment Center? I don't know if she goes to that place, but I keep seeing commercials for it where I live. THere are Cancer Treatment Center hospitals all over the country, maybe 3 or 4 of them. Just a suggestion. These places usually pick up where a regular hospital can't do much anymore, as of cancer, as I see it on the commercials.
Let us know if there is anything we can do.

Rose, I do know Laura Ingraham, and I would love to see her sometime. Lucky you! Glad you had fun.
Thanks! I'm glad I went to see her :goodvibes Hopefully you can meet her too sometime :)
I should really post pics I took of that night, I guess when I get around to it.

Had a very busy weekend :faint: On Sat., I went to a market research thing for a local music radio station. I made $100 cash for just listening and rating songs for an hour and 15 minutes! :cool1:
About 40 other women were there also, doing the same thing I was doing. I never done anything like this before. It was so easy and fun! Hope they call me back again sometime soon, as I could use the $$.
After I got back from the market research thing, we went to church, our usual time.
On Sunday, my DD went to a Girl Scouts bowling event. DH took her for an hour and a half. They had daddy-daughter time, which DD likes alot!
Then after that, went to a Cub Scout picnic, for DS.

Hi to all!

Hi Rose. $100 for 75 minutes of work is awesome! BTW, did you know that Laura Ingraham clerked for Clarence Thomas? I just learned that today!

Tricia, I don't know what to say without being trivial about Carol's cancer and what she's going through, and what you're going through except that whatever you need, you know your DIS buddies are here for you. I'm sorry the news isn't better. :(

Janet, I know I've probably confused everyone. We leave for Florida on Saturday. And, I know you're all terribly jealous that mac and I are doing the RIP tour together on Sunday night. I will certainly tell her that everyone has been asking about her. And, I think Barry is joining us too, for those of you who may remember him.

Sweet dreams, DIS friends.

Jodie, in case I don't catch up with you before your trip, have a ton of fun and say HI  to MAC for me! I'm doin' the happy dance for ya! :dance3:

Tricia, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. At the minute, you have to be strong for your sister. You can break down in front of us anytime you want. You are in my thoughts.

I don't think we've got any northwesterners on this board...have any of you seen this? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20841428/
(Popularly named Seattle Lake Union Trolley given unfortunate acronym) It could be a competition with Disney's Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor!

morning:banana: sometimes i wanna smash that perennially perky 'nanner.

rose - very nice $, wish i could find somewhere near me.

jodie - a special tour, way :cool1: .

I'm whining big time to at least get a "date night" @ the Phantom Fright Night @ Kennywood this year, may not be romantic but; will get the old blood going.:rotfl2: youngest DS doesn't like "scary stuff"...i want a DNA test, can't be my child.;)

here's a link to their site, complete w/video & pics:thumbsup2
