quick drive by hi

allison's sorta famous, free brittany:) , just think she needed better life lessons from ma & pa.
barb - aww, sux re work...i'm thrilled w/lapbars on Dudley:banana: my pic proved to me that my hair is now nearly brown (back to my roots):headache: compared to last one. Hairdresser gets one more chance...what was that term you used for color...something about 3 levels? Perhaps if i lay it on her that way she'll get the pic.

tricia - such a great time to visit!

tracy - don't let it simmer, i played nice about this one kid (always triple the size of DS) had issues with since K. Mom's sister on school board & they call themselves "the greatest amercian hero family" since dad's is a volunteer fireman:confused3 wackjobs. Told him to try & make it work. Finally in 2nd grade he pushed my son from behind in front of witnesses. DS bloody & bruised, got up & pushed back. Guess who got a call from the principal?:rolleyes1 1st of many with the same kid, never getting my son in trouble; but letting me know there was a problem & they couldn't do much about it other than have the other kid pulled out of school for home school for a short period of time. Couldn't put them in different classes, both in gifted/advanced program.

During a school Xmas party when i was elsewhere in the building, DS got a terrible burn on hands from a glue gun the mother was weilding...she said it was an accident. He had to go to ER, hands badly covered in blisters/bandages; couldn't open his Xmas presents!

final straw in 5th grade, 1st day at my new job, call from the principal. Psycho insisting that my son threatened to kill the kid (no witnesses). He was very apologetic; said he had to call me & let me know of the accusation. Visited the local magistrate/DA, threatened them with legal action, they backed down...yet, problem simmered for several years.

Last year kid again made accusation that my son called him a "fat **ck" (nobody's ever heard him swear before?); got phone call from HS principal this time. The mom wanted to have a sit down between all & get school psychologist involved. I declined, did tell her that in the future - every single time the other kid said anything smart, etc.; my son would be knocking on her door for immediate intervention and then she could give me a buzz...I'd show up with legal representation..

haven't had an incident since, principal quit; psycho's other kids are now home schooled full-time because each of them has the same problem with "kids picking on them". I'm told her company now has her working @ home too, she has the same problem at work

To top it off, of all things, my DS feels sorry for the kid:confused3 guess he's a bigger man than me.

Tricia - sorry to hear about this with your son. Hope it doesn't turn him off school so early in his "career", especially since he was so excited about it at the beginning. Take heart in the fact that we've probably all gone through it with our kids at some point - it's what we called in the Army the 80/20 rule - you spend 80 percent of your time on 20 percent of your people. As Keisha (Keisha, is your real name Tracie? - I'm confused!) points out above - even being in Gifted and Talented classes doesn't reduce the amount of riffraff, as we've found too!

We went through a similar thing when oldest DS was in first grade. There was a "special needs" (for behavior) child in his class, who had a full-time aide assigned to him. Well, this boy ended up sitting next to my son. It then turned out that he would spend his time taking anything that belonged to my son (including homework, Pokemon cards, lunch) and either destroying it or screaming or hitting or spitting at my son if he tried to take them back.

After my son came home furious several times (luckily this son is not a cry-er, but a "get mad-er"), I arranged a consult with the teacher. The teacher told me about this other boy's background (his mom died when he was three) and explained that my son should be more compassionate. :confused3

Um, no. A 6 year old should not have to deal with another student constantly taking his things and then assaulting or spitting at him. For any reason. What exactly was this aide doing? When I offered my opinion that maybe this boy wasn't ready for a regular classroom, of course I was being the heartless one. When I then said fine, but you need to move my son, I was told "he has to sit next to someone" . Fought and eventually won this battle and once they moved my son, he didn't have any more trouble. However, I'm guessing it just shifted to another kid. Gotta love the logic!

Another quick story along the same lines. For the last couple nights, DS12 has been really withdrawing and being in a bad mood in the evenings. I wasn't sure if something was wrong or not and was just a bit concerned. He's in a new school this year (here middle school is 7-8th grade) and he's a 7th grader. Plus he's taking 2 classes at the high school, and one of them is more than half seniors. And he takes a couple 8th grade classes at his school. So total it up into a whole bunch of classes with a whole lot of kids bigger than my son.

So I ask him if he's upset. He shrugs his shoulders. I ask him if he's having a problem with someone. Again a shrug. Ask him if someone's being mean to him. Again a shrug. Finally I ask him if any of the high schoolers are giving him a hard time (I'm assuming he can hold his own at his school!) and his eyes narrow and he says "just one!".

By this time, I'm reacting the way you are. Ready to go hunt this kid down and knock some sense into him. I ask him who and his eyes narrow more and he tilts his head towards the other room. I still don't get it and tell him so. Finally he says "Him!" and I realize his problem is with his big brother! :rotfl:

Okay kid - can't help you with that one! My kids fight all the time and take turns hating one another regularly  Way to get me all stressed out over nothing!

You did good Tricia!:thumbsup2
But, what about Damo? Who knows what her name is? And MAC? I don't know Mac's name....Everyone calls her Mac, 'cept for Barb and she calls her Raven.

Goodness we forgot GemmaPixie:scared:

Heavens! The girl leaves for university and we forget all about her!
She's going to have a conniption fit when she sees my tag. I can't wait. popcorn::

I knew I wouldn't get everyone off the top of my head. Who else hasn't been around the last couple of days? My memory doesn't last much longer than that.

Wow - thanks Tricia - that helps! I'll be sure to print it out for future reference! Actually I'll cut and paste it into Word instead. And yes, I'm Marcie, and I am from Wisconsin now, but was from Michigan when I joined and I'm certainly not going to change my screenname now!

I know when I met up with Mac a couple weeks ago I did get her real name on the cell phone, but don't even remember what it was. I know when I've asked on the thread she's just said she goes by Mac!

i know a lot of them and i think so do you all

Boy Raven....you sure can yak....:rolleyes1

I know 35 real names off that list.....

what'd I win? :confused3

Okay....so, I get home from work this evening (appx. 8:45pm) and start checking my mail. Apparently everyone is on tonight...until i get here :snooty: Now ya all went to bed! Okay, fine...but you'll be sorry when I'm not around ALL DAY TOMORROW....and I might not share why either.....:rolleyes1

So, y'all ain't been too chatty today...mostly Janet and her son's story about the bully dude. (FWIW, I think the laws and no tolerence policies these days are great..IF enforced! You hear so many unhappy kids in skool cuz of bullies and such...should be the best years of their lives, for some it's the worst! :sad2: )

Janet: you are looking to use the term "screamin'" Remember I broke it down into 3 levels: up to 30% was whisper (light). Appx. 50% was talking (noticeable), and about 70% and more was screamin' (heavy)! Is she using foils or cap?? If cap, tell her every hole, but she's probably using foils.... :scratchin... hey...I know. Tell her this: "If you WERE using a cap, I'd want every hole pulled....THAT'S how heavy I want these hilights.... I want 3/4 of my head to be colored"... see if that makes the elevator go to the top floor :confused3

I hope nobody tapes that list to their forehead....they wouldn't be able to see it! ...and they'd trip and fall!!!

Marcie...sorry your son put you through all that for your other son :rotfl: Made me laugh!! How funny! ....oh well, better to be a brother tho

Well, off to see what trouble I can get into.....

Oh...and this time it doesn't involve the police...like earlier.....
