Hey guys - hope everyone is doing well. I've almost given up on trying to keep up with this thread - you guys know how to chat!!

I did see some of the wedding pictures - they were great!

Has anyone been watching the Today show today? I'm at work, so I haven't seen if my friend, Jennifer was on yet.

But the people.com website already has her makeover pics on it. I thought that wasn't going to happen until Friday. So, head over to the website and see her big transformation! Part of the video of her shopping is funny - she about passes out over paying $60 for a bra!

Ok, gotta get back to work - Thanks!
Melissa
Don't worry about catching up, just jump in where you can & have fun.

I forgot all about the show today. I will check out the website though. I didn't get to do any voting cause I was gone, but I read all about it when I got back.

Lori, was Hannah Montana last night? I can't keep track! If it was, hope you had fun!

I was just talking to Mike and I told him that I decided I'm going to start on my New Year's resolution early so that I might have a chance of actually achieving it by the end of next year. You'd think it'd be to lose weight, or keep the house cleaner, or not let laundry pile up, or call my brother more regularly, try to be more positive, manage our money better. Do we need to do all these things? Of course. So what is the habit I really need to break? Dare I say? I will tell you. My bad habit happens to be that I swear too friggin much. :rolleyes1 I am one of very few females where I work. I work with a bunch of phone technicians who were outside plant for too long. They've rubbed off on me in a HORRIBLE way after 8.5 years and I need to snap the way out of it. I was looking for a bit of reassurance (could he NOT read my mind? ;)). Unfortunately, this is what I got: "You DO cuss like a sailor, Jodie." Hmmpphhh. Do "frig" and "frick" count as swear words? Baby steps. Baby steps.

If I don't start working on this now, mac is going to be treated to an earful the first time I get scared at HHN. :scared1:

Nope, the tickets went on pre-sale with the fan club yesterday. The show is Nov. 14th. I haven't told Ally yet, she is gonna flip!

Baby step are good. It is really hard to work with men primarily. I did it for 15 years with Xerox and I'm so glad I am gone from there.

Bubba is learning "cursive" so far... :scared: I don't remember learning it the way he is....but, whatever :rolleyes2 The letters look funny to me :confused3 :confused3

Oh, toe feels better today....more movement, not AS sore..... salon was yesterday, office is today..... (Mon, Wed, Thur = office job/ Tues, Fri, Sat = salon job...i know, it's confusing...) Been wearing flipflops cuz "shoe" hurts a little..... And, I was surprised that it didn't really hurt yesterday (at salon), must be healin' ;)

Okay, so you're probably wondering what i am doing home??? Let me tell you....this "office" job i have is a small company run from the owners' home. We dress casual (jeans, shorts, etc...) EXCEPT when we have an interview coming in.... So, I get to work this morning, and I am asked why i am not "dressed"? Told them I was dressed (jeans and DH's tshirt :teeth: ...they say, "no"...for the interview this afternoon. :confused3 Well, I'm not dressed CUZ I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!! So, after the other gal comes back (from going home to change), I left to come home and change.... wouldn't be SUCH a big deal if i wasn't 20-25 minutes away! So, with the interview this afternoon, I'm guessing I'm not going to find out about my raise I asked for? :confused3 (if I DO find out, I'll be sure to letcha's know ;) ) So, off to change and git back to work....Odd, I get done at 3:30 and will be back home by 4! :rotfl:

Ally is learnig cursive too. I think it is her reason for going to school right now!

Glad the toe is feling better. You would think they would let you know in advance when you need to dress up. Anyway, hope you get the raise.

quick check in, day gone down the crapper or to @*@!?X! as jodie would say;)

barb - ow, u need a pair of crocs Getting jerked around on the cruise sub, carnival still hasn't made the announcement. probably to avoid as many cancellations (allowable within the 24 hour period after itinerary change email is received)

Yet, i had a copy of email sent out to TAs this am indicating it's not Progresso - now Rotan. Island off of Honduros. anyone ever visit? hear they've got not much more than zip lining, diving, beaches & iguanas...lots of them.

Our pymt due on 18th. Other ship Glory from Port Canaveral is over $900 more now for a non-aft balcony:rolleyes1 ...not sure if i want it that much and we'd have to skip U/RPR for Saturday too.:scared1:

off to college fair tonight with youngest...whoopee.

Sorry about your day, mine was much like that yesterday. I gotta agree about the Crocs. Very comfortable & will help protect the toe some.

I hope you get some info on the cruise soon. And you have no more problems with it.

Have fun with DS tonight!

Just wanted to say hi!

My sister (the oldest one) lives in Warner Robins! How weird.

I'll second that! Now I'm getting all mushy. Group hug! :grouphug:

I've had some difficult news here this afternoon. My sister, the older one not the oldest one, has breast cancer again. She was diagnosed in 2001, had a lumpectomy, went through chemo, and has tested cancer-free since. She felt a lump a few weeks ago and went in for a mammogram and, yep, it's back. Same breast, same general location. It is a large mass, but they don't know how much is new growth and how much is scar tissue. She meets with the surgeon and her oncologist a week from tomorrow to discuss options. No matter what, she has a difficult road ahead of her. :sad1:

DH said it was a nice town but he has no desire to visit it again. Sorry about getting mushy, obviously I still have problems thinking about either tragedy.

So sorry about your sister. Sending lots of hugs & prayers for a full recovery.

Hey gang...well...we MAY have a situation brewing out in the Atlantic. On the news tonight, Tropical Depression #8 has formed and will be named Ingrid if/when the storm strengthens. The forcast track right now has it coming into the southern part of FL but it's really too early to tell. The storm is either going to develop and head towards FL or go out to sea. The next 8-10 days will tell the tale.

TS Huberto is of no threat to FL...it's actually going to hit TX with some heavy rains.

I hope Ingridtakes a turn and heads out to sea. It just can't mess with Mac & Jodie's trips.

TS Huberto is of no threat to FL...it's actually going to hit TX with some heavy rains.

Just what we need here in Texas - more rain!:rotfl2: :lmao:

And then it would head my way & we don't need any tropical rains either.

anyone know the difference between silk screening a logo & a regular logo from a graphics shop? MILs crazy cat snapped & decided to shred clothes in the laundry basket. Managed to put holes in middle DS football warmup suit from HS.:scared1: Can't get another, took them to graphics shop & they said they'd order a new pair of sweats & it would look "pretty much" the same. If not, i'm hiding them:rolleyes1 he'll think they're at his dads house.

Oh that stinks. Why is it that those things happen to things that can't be easily replaced. Hope they can get you fixed up.

By the way, do you know yet what days you are planning to be at DL? We are trying to decide whether to start there and go on or finish there.

Day 7 is up for all of you who wanted to see more surfing pics:

DAY 7 - Surfing, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Quest

Thanks to those of you who've stopped by since I don't think anyone else is. I'm also posting it on TGM, but my subscription is going to expire there any day now! I'm keeping it in word, and I'll print out a copy to save and one for each of the grandparents to dwell over when I'm all done.

Lori - I thought of you first with this hurricane - especially after all the rain you had all spring/summer! Oh, and to answer your homework question. Yes, it was Matt's homework. But you know how it goes from you helping "just a little bit" to somehow doing all the work! I can't do it in most of their classes anymore because I just don't remember enough Calc or whatever, but I do know quite a bit more Spanish than him. First I was going to help him translate what he had, but then he didn't actually have the info, then we couldn't find our Spanish dictionary, then I couldn't remember the difference in past tenses (era, estaba, fue), so we researched JFK together to get the facts, then found a Spanish translator online to get the translations. Fun!

Another vote for Crocs here from another Croc-lover (just in case that wasn't obvious from the fact that I had them on in all our Disney pics!).

Tricia - wow, I'm really sorry about your sister. We'll keep her in our prayers and please keep us posted on what's happening with her. DH's sister was diagnosed with breast cancer maybe about 8 or 9 years ago. Her son is the same age as my youngest, and I want to say he was about 3. They were just in the process of trying to have another child when she found out. It was a really rough couple years for her - she spend long periods in the hospital, and finally had some kind of thing where they pretty much replace all your blood and you start over from scratch? :confused3 Know she couldn't be with her son for awhile after that because of germs and she had to start all over again with immunizations, etc. But she's been fine for years now (knock on wood) - hopefully your sister will be able to beat it again and that most of what they're seeing is scar tissue!

Keisha - do the zip line tour if you have any interest whatsoever! My mom (then 65) and I did it on our cruise and had a blast. We did it in Puerta Vallarta. She was terrified of the rappeling at the end, but managed to do it and loved the rest of it!

While I have a few minutes I wanted to tell you guys about the Hannah Montana tickets yesterday. I off course got the code to be able to pre- order, tickets aren't supposed to go on sale until Saturday. There were tickets for Ft Worth on a Wednesday (3 hrs away) & Little Rock on a Saturday (5 hours away). Well I clicked in to Ticketmaster right at 10, ordered my tickets to Ft Worth & then decided to check Little Rock. If I got good seats for there I could sell the ones for Ft Worth, right? So I pull up tickets for Little Rock, you have 2 minutes to complete the page or they release the tickets to someone else. Well, while I was figuring out which seats were best I used more than two minutes. Went to do it again & it showed there were no tickets available! No big deal I already have tickets that were better anyway. But I decided I would check out the Ft Worth tickets again and they were all gone too!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: This all happened in less than 30 minuets. Now I have no idea if they only release a certain amount per day or if they were all really already gone. If they are gone all I can say is WOW!

Oh, and the big news:

I GOT A JOB!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Sorry, but I've been looking for a reasonable part time job ever since we moved here 14 months ago. Couldn't find anything last year, and finally fell back on subbing in the school district, which I honestly hated doing! My conclusion after years of working in the schools is that, while I love my kids, I don't particularly love everyone's kids quite that much! However, it worked out okay for last year since I knew we had this big vacation this summer and figured it would be hard to get that much time off from a new job.

Before we moved I was working in the office at a Honda dealership which I enjoyed. This job is for a financial group - afternoons from noon to 5ish doing phone calls, typing, filing, and it sounds like a lot of computer stuff. I start on Monday! I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes, but it's probably going to cut down on my DIS'ing time!

tricia - what a blow, hope your DSis beats it:sad1: :flower3: if u share her 1st name i'll put her on my church's prayer list! Give her a big hug & tell her we'll thinking good thoughts:goodvibes

Tricia
I am so sorry to hear about your sister. Please tell her she will be in my prayers. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer on X-mas eve this past year. She kept it from us until after the holidays. I was wondering why she seemed so off. She has since had surgery and radiation. We are keeping our fingers crossed. She had been lazy and skipped her yearly mammogram. Felt guilty about it 6 months later and scheduled it. Thats when they found the lump. Please, all you ladies, make sure you get your mammograms.

DH said it was a nice town but he has no desire to visit it again. Sorry about getting mushy, obviously I still have problems thinking about either tragedy.

So sorry about your sister. Sending lots of hugs & prayers for a full recovery.

Warner Robins is okay. My sister and her family aren't there by choice, it was a work related move. It was the best of their choices. They certainly didn't want to get any closer to Macon. :scared:

And I like getting mushy. It doesn't matter to me if it is the warm fuzzy kinda mushy or the I need a good cry mushy. It's all good. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the support. I'm gonna need to vent here from time to time, I'm sure. Right now, my sister doesn't want to tell anyone outside the family. I don't know why, but it's her decision. That leaves me with nobody to talk to about stuff. Can't talk to my mom... she just falls apart. My oldest sister and I aren't that close. My brother already lost a wife to cancer, so he really isn't an option.

Anyway, her name is Carol and she isn't just my sister, she is one of my best friends. She was matron of honor at my wedding...

Carol3.jpg

... and she loves my kids like they were her own.

I'm assuming the best will happen and she will get all the treatment she needs and then be all better.

Evening everyone!

Man I feel like I'm falling behind!

Tricia: so sorry to hear about your sister...my thoughts go out to you both

Marci: congrats! Totally hear you about subbing...I never did, but I know what subs go through when dealing with the little "angels"

O yes...and MOH stands for Maid of Honor.

A big  to everyone else out there!

I'm a day late and a dollar short, but here's my wedding photo from starter husband #1, minus the groom...many many years ago! We are actually still good friends. :goodvibes Second wedding was on Cadillac Mt in Acadia National Park at sunset. Just DH, the justice and me! I wasn't going thru all that hoopla again. My daughter is older now than I was when the photo was taken. Boy, do I feel old.

Wow, I sleep the day away, and look at all I missed! :scared1:

I'm sorry, I have yet to master quoting from multiple people and posts. I'm going to have to start taking notes on the thread because I know I'm going to miss something.

Barb, I do hope you get your raise!!

To answer your question, I work in operations, which definitely contributes to my little "issue." We surveill and troubleshoot and report on troubles (to the FCC and itnernally) in the telecom network internationally. We see the impact of failures in the network and once they hit a threshold, establish bridges to get everyone involved who needs to fix the problems. Sleeping yet? I bore myself talking about it!

To answer your other burning question: our door is still not fixed. It seems to be Liberty Mutual (UPS's insurance) that is sitting on our claim. We've faxed UPS the estimate, UPS filed the claim with the record that their driver left the package at our door, we took pics, UPS took pics, and this is all sitting squarely in the hands of Liberty Friggin Mutual. Buttfaces.

Janet, I am sorry to hear that you had a #$@@$ day!!! Hope tomorrow is better! I don't know what MOH is either.

Lori, Hannah Montana is something, isn't she? I don't get it, but I didn't get HSM either, so who am I? I am glad you got your tickets!

Melissa, I am so sorry if you took my $60 question the wrong way. I asked because I was oblivious. Not because I think it's a flip amount for a bra. I live in sports bras. What do I know?

Rose, welcome back! I am sorry if you've told us and I missed it, but did your DH's job go from tempy to perm?

Tricia, OMG I am just soo sorry to hear about your sister, and I wish her all happy and positive thoughts. Flippin cancer. How can one rogue cell grow into something so consumingly menacing?

mac, thanks for your email! You always know how to make me laugh!

I am really sorry if I missed anyone. I am checking the rest of the boards quickly, and then off to work. Tonight is my last night (woot!) and then I am off until Tuesday!

tricia - gotcha:thumbsup2 your sis is a cutie, seems to be so loving...a good soul = good karma:wizard:

sharon - must be hard for you, how brave of her to keep it to herself after the holidays! bunches of hugs your way too.

lori - u r the mom:banana: , daughter will never forget it! as for DL we have to work around stoopid SIL's kid. I actually like him the best of the bunch:) . If memory serves me correctly, she said June 21st:confused: ; will have to call. So..we're thinking perhaps a day or 2 afterwards for 8 or 9 days, to be home before the 4th of July? Not sure if crowds will be any lower then or we should just wait until later in July or August? Even after reading 3 guidebooks i'm lost, a whole 'nuther World of planning.

marci - congrats, we can't wait to hear all about it! Talk about great hours:woohoo:

college fair went swell, most of the local private schools start out @ $30K:scared1: ; i'm pushing for public school (slippery rock, edinboro, gannon, duquesne) or PENN STATE:banana: . They have a local campus 10 min. from our house, he could do the 1st 2 years there; then transfer to main...i might even spring for a junker car.

KFed - i was shocked to find out that another front-runner U of PITT doesn't offer a traditional education degree...you major in psychology, then take either a year certificate program (only good in state of PA) or go for masters in education:confused3 . Is this common?

another beautiful bride!

I just have to vent this one out....

Yesterday, we had our school Pep Rally...

Not gonna lie, it's kinda dull. But it is for the kids and it is important to them, as well it should be. Anyways, the audience (meaning the kids that weren't on sports) were so disrespectful!!!

During the kickline routine, the kids were throwing paper balls onto the ym floor. Then, someone decided to set one of the pieces of paper on fire! In the bleachers with hundreds of kids around! :scared1: That was put out quickly.

But to top it off, someone decided to be cute and turn off the lights in the gym. it takes 20 min. for them to come back on. It was ridiculous...so dissappointing.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Those Educational Masters are kinda funny. We have like 5 different types of teaching certifications on NY and you need to correlate your masters with that. Very irritating!

What grade is your son? Mine is a senior. I feel like we have been to hundreds of colleges. I hoping for some good merit scholarships! He was real close to acing his SATs. He's on the robotics team at his high school, and there area quite a few colleges that offer scholarships for that too. I can't get him interested in the local University. We have a campus in our back yard too. But they don't offer the type of engineering he wants. It would be $15K a year vs the $50K at the private schools he is looking at. :scared1: My DD is on the 5 or 6 year plan. I stopped paying for it after 4. I'm hoping that with her paying for it, she will buckle down and get better grades. I'm not holding my breath. :rolleyes1

Hey all!!! I'm home....after work, dinner and soccer practice tonight!

For everyone who asked...yes, they normally DO inform us ahead of time to "dress" for interviews/guests. Since I wasn't there Tuesday, nobody called or emailed me. The other gal didn't know either (and she talked to the office mgr. 3x yesterday!) , but the 2 guys in our office knew....so, I don't get it..... SO, I get back to work this afternoon after coming home to change. The bosses (who were leaving for a meeting as I was pulling in this morning) still weren't back yet! They probably don't even know I left to go home and change :confused3 Anyhow, the interview we all had to look nice for.....never showed up! AND, yep, you guessed it....they were so busy telling us about their meeting, never got a chance to meet about the raise I asked for :headache: .....maybe tomorrow

Okay...the other "big" news today in House of Bubba is..........we got our passports in the mail today We applied 4 weeks ago tomorrow (Thurs)...NOT bad...definately thought it'd take more time than that! Guess they hired more peeps.....

Okay, that's all excitin' here....onto what y'all chatted about without me:

Todd: you are our "official" weatherman for Fla. now..... it's hilarious how you just "pop" in and give weather updates  (love it!)

Melisa1: good to see you popping in...and you're right....you DON'T need more rain :sad2: Fingers crossed you don't get a monsoon.....

Sharon: beautiful wedding photo..... you mentioned 'starter husband'....got a pic of "the right one"? ;) Would love to see the "current" Mr. Sharon. Has your Mom been in remission since her treatments? Best wishes for her...

Marcie: congrats on the job! If I'd known you was lookin', you coulda had one of mine :lmao:

Rosemarie: you are a good friend to chat with your elderly friend that needed you  A motto of mine: "What goes around, comes around" .....and, like Jodie mentioned, please let us know if your DH's job became permanent :thumbsup2

Janet..... uh....Rotan?!? :confused3 wha??? Never heard of it and frankly, it doesn't sound all that inviting? :confused3 I would say Glory is out of the question....especially since you'd have to miss UO and RPR...no way! (i forbid it :snooty: ) Sounds like you had a great day at the college fair....learned a LOT today, didntcha??? (mostly about sticker shock) Good luck w/ the warmup suit...can't help ya there, as I haven't a clue about silk screening.....

Lori...please let us know Ally's reaction to the tickets..... you will be ALL THAT! I checked out those spider webs :scared1: unbelieveable!!! OMG!!!! I'd keep away....granted, spiders are smaller than us...but, they outnumber us there!

Jodie....I wasn't bored reading about what you did...thought it was interesting. You guys both work w/ telecommunications, but not what DH does. He troubleshoots things (like phones for instance) and then fixes them. He runs tests and cosmetics too. He IS his department. When we came back from vacation, they were all EXTREMELY glad to see him! Let's just say, 3 guys can't do the volume he does in a day. He used to run 2 departments (at 50% + profit every month), but the owners son or grandson was coming to work in the company (very family owned/oriented) and they closed out 9/10 of the building he was in and moved everyone around to different areas of the company. He moved across the corporate park to HQ now. (He works in the same corp. park QVC broadcasts from) So, he got a "demotion" 'position' wise, but still makes the higher salary :thumbsup2 Thought you guys did the same thing, but no...... AND, you better call someone and threaten your "lawyer"....like the insurance company. They KNOW they are paying, and are dragging their feet on purpose! I'd be gettin' nasty..... hey! get that foul mouth workin' again :rolleyes1 THAT and "sue" and "lawyer" might work

oh RAVEN....where are you??? sleeping??? gearing up for the big card game tonite???? Pop in to say you're still w/ us .......

Tricia..... Please know Carol is getting prayers and wishes from our end too. Have faith that she will beat this.....women do everyday. By the way, the pic of her and the boys in the snow....where was that? YOUR house?? :confused3 She looks like a fun aunt! (I know I am, too bad my nephews hate me and my niece can't see me.) Glad you feelin' better... Oh, and the "potty" mouth you all were talking about....that didn't stop here when Ry was born. I tried to get DH to ease up, but uh-uh. MOF, in 1st grade, at free time, his buddies were making a 'bad word' list. He happened upon them and realized what they were doing. They ran out of words and he helped them out. He proudly spelled the F word....and correctly. Ugghh.... so, that kinda opened DH's eyes a bit...so, instead of cuttin' back, we had a discussion about "bad" words and "not nice" words. Hasn't been a problem since. The way we figure, is he is going to hear it. Rather from us in our home where we can discuss it, than hear it outside the home and start using it on his own

Katie: KIDS! what can ya do??? they just don't get how stupid they are sometimes...oh well, when they grow up someday, they will see...... (good vent tho ;) )

Guess that about covers it....what'd I forget??? .....sorry.....

All done packing!

Have to wake up early tomorrow cause we are leaving at 5:30 am:scared:

Oh...and we have also decided to add Hershey Park to our trip :woohoo: !!

Sharon - I think you and my oldest sister had the same photographer. She has an almost identical picture (pose). She got married in... ummm... 1976 I think?

Jodie - Thanks for the wishes and if you can figure out the cancer thing, you let me know. We'll get together and kick that rogue cells butt.

Katie - The pep rally thing stinks... but you are on your way to vacation, so :cool1:

Barb - The snow pic was at my house. We only get snow once or twice a year, but it's pretty while it's here.

Carol is a fun aunt. Your niece can't see you? Is she visually impaired... not allowed to see you... or do you live too far apart?

Yay! :woohoo: for the arrival of the passports! :cool1:

No matter how much we control our language, yes the "bad" words pop out from time to time. We've already had to have the talk about inappropriate words with Joshua. I remember one time over the summer, Joshua walked in and asked me, "Mom, is okay if I call Daniel a booger head?" I looked at him with a straight face and said, "Is Daniel being a booger head?" He said, "Uh-huh!" So, I told him, "Why don't I come see if I can help."

Well, guys and gals, it's past my bedtime. I'll check in tomorrow.

Doesn't everyone have that pose?? Do they teach them that at photographer skool? :confused3

Your niece can't see you? Is she visually impaired... not allowed to see you... or do you live too far apart?

No, my sister is a b**ch and won't let her see me....THAT is ONE of MANY reasons my sister is disowned! :snooty: (She only lives less than 1/2 hour away)

"Mom, is okay if I call Daniel a booger head?" I looked at him with a straight face and said, "Is Daniel being a booger head?" He said, "Uh-huh!" So, I told him, "Why don't I come see if I can help."

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
toooooo funnie......... (those are those moments you'll remember when you flash back on their lives at the "special times" (graduation, wedding, etc....)

(oh, and I see you got "it"....glad you likes!)
