Hi all-
I'm having a hard time catching up, that I didn't get to read a few pages a few days ago I missed, oh well.
Anyways, I think some of you talked about destination weddings a couple of days back? Or weddings in general. DH and I are going to a family wedding, leaving tomorrow night. The step-neice of DH is getting married on Saturday. We are leaving tomorrow evening, after Don gets off of work, to get to our destination hotel for 2 nights. The wedding is a 3 hr drive for us, in Galena, IL. So leaving tomorrow evening and won't be back until Sunday afternoon. My parents offered to watch the kids for the 2 days. They will be with them at my parents house. Bride's parents live about half hour away from me.
Groom's parents and siblings live in North Dakota, so they will be flying here.
So I will be busy with that this weekend. Still need to pack and do some stuff I didn't do yest.
Oh, talking about destination weddings, 2 yrs ago one of my younger cousins(she was 20 yrs old) got married in Arizona. None of us from the family went!
My mom's sister's daughter got married 2 yrs ago. We hardly see my aunt(my mom's sister). We see her maybe once a yr, since she lives in southern Missouri. My cousin(that got married) and I were never close b/c she never lived around me. She lived all over the country, b/c my uncle(her dad) is in the military, so they move every 3 or 4 yrs. Since the wedding was in AZ, it was on the bottom of the mountains(the destination wedding part). We couldn't afford the airfare and nobody wanted to flip the bill for airfare to go to her wedding. My mom didn't even go, as she wasn't going to pay for her own airfare and hotel. The bride and my aunt and uncle didn't want to flip the bill for at least airfare, so none of us went.
I think about 30 people showed up total to cousin's wedding. Mostly groom's family and groom's extended family showed up and a couple of my aunt's friends that live a state or two away. And a couple of co-workers of my cousin and the groom's may have showed up.
Anyways, this wedding DH and I are going to, at least it is drivable and will be getting discounted rates on the hotel room.
I think some of you asked about DH's job. He is still working as a temp. at the same place. The recruiter from hte temp agency recently said it can take about a month or more to go perm. I don't know why the wait?
DH will be working a month there this coming Monday or Tues. It looks like about half or more of the company is off today for Roshashana(sp). There are only about 10 employees, so about 6 or 7 are off today for the holiday. DH is there at work today, as we are not Jewish. I did grow up in a jewish neighborhood tho, so I understand somewhat being off.
Mac- I grew up in Skokie, from when I was 4 yr old til I was 13. You were probably wondering where I grew up at.
Back to the job, the recruiter has been getting great feedback from the CEO of the co. about Dh's job performance. So we shall see when they offer the permanent position, as DH is trying to patiently wait, too.
Edited to add: I won a Veggie Tales DVD from KLOVE radio station! KLove is a christian radio station, if none of you have heard about the station. I entered the contest online on the KLOVE website.
I didn't even know I won it, until it showed up in my mail yest! My kids love VeggieTales! We have most of the videos and DVDs.
Wish I can win a trip. Never won a trip yet of any sweepstakes or contests I entered. Hopefully someday win a trip.
