Morning all!!

Hope everyone is recovering from bad days

Bean#2 starts school tomorrow - she is climbing the walls and so excited :hyper:!! #1 has one day this week, Wednesday, and she is pretty happy about it :) and #3 has orientation on Wednesday for Kindergarten and they all start their normal schedule on Tuesday the 4th.

Spent my morning (literally for 2 hours and transferred 5 times) on the phone with the Electric/gas company and they are ridiculous  I never received my August bill - apparently we are on ebill (I don't remember signing up for it) so my due date came and went. i won't lie - I have been on a payment plan with them because of our gas in the winter being so extremely high (total of 500-550 a month in the winter for gas&electric) so I missed the payment date and received a notice :scared1: of shut off.....never been there before!!!! So I look up the bill in question and call and they have my bills TOTALLY wrong(overcharged by about 425 dollars). Now because the September bill has generated, I have to pay all of the back charges by 9/11 or else. They cannot "override the automated system" to adjust my bill to reflect the correct amount that was due on 8/9/07 and let me pay that amount even though its their fault and my billing is all messed up. Where I am going to come up with this amount is beyond me.....off to make some coffee and figure crap out :sad1:

just read thru the last 3 pages to ketchup.

you all either had me laughing or crying.

on a good note, the cardinals won yesterday

Tricia, your story had me cracking up. OK, it also made me a bit stressed, and I wasn't even there! Motherhood is just too daunting a task for me, and at least I have recognized that in myself, I suppose. And, oh hey, what is the latest on the "engagement gala?"

Tracie, we are going through the opposite with our gas company. I called them awhile ago because we had a $1500 credit, and I called them all indignant "how long do you plan on holding all my money?!" Somehow it came out that our meter was broken and not generating any new charges, yet they had no problem keeping me on a payment plan for months and months and months. Yes, I should've been looking at my bills more carefully, but as far as I could tell, it was being paid. So, a few weeks go by, and they replace our meter, but they never back charged us any money for the gas we used but weren't charged for. I tried to call to get it straightened out, but the girl was a little snot plus I hate them since they were the only utility to make me fax over all this information just to change my bill to my married name, and I gave up. I figure they'll eventually get me for the money. Hmpph.

I'm sorry. I need the cliff notes ... who is Jerome Bettis? should I know him?

Lori, sorry your vacation didn't go so well. I do hope you'll still tell us about it!

Marcie, great pics. Enjoying your report!

Wooo, Sorry to hear about broken A/C, messed up bills, poo on the floors and on kids and the name confusions (btw, my name is Gemma! lol).

Marcie- When you talked about a 'pop up' thing, I assumed you meant a tent- I didn't know you could buy a pop up caravan!! Quite cool to know that! My brother is lookig in to buying a new caravan because my granny bought us a site for a new house down in Donegal in southern Ireland for me and my two brothers but we havn't built a house yet so we were just going to put a caravan on it. Seriously though, we are 21, 19 and 16- how are we going to afford a brand newly built holiday home??

Okay
I need everyone to please post their name-
i am getting confused.

On every 1st and 3rd Monday, please call me Jodie.

Tuesday through Thursday, please call me Nessa.

On weekends, I go by Alex.

On every 2nd and 4th Monday, it's a game day decision. I won't know what I'll want to be called until that day, and you'll just have to keep up.

On holidays, it's DIS member's choice. Which would probably be better than anything my sister comes up with as she usually alternates between the boring "sissy" or when she's feeling affectionate "buttmunch."

Got it? Good!

Well since today is a bank holiday over here in Ireland I shall call you 'Pickle' for the day!

Ahh, ya doesn't has to call me Johnson! You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or you can call me Johnny or you can call me Sonny, or you can call me RayJay, or you can call me RJ... but ya doesn't hafta call me Johnson

Get on the Bus:thumbsup2 lots of charitable work to his credit, gives back to his "communities" Detroit & the 'burg.

cliffnote on #36 from wiki

Jerome Abram Bettis, nicknamed "The Bus" (born February 16, 1972 in Detroit, Michigan), is a former American football halfback for the NFL's Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers. Bettis is considered one of the best big backs of his era, and is fifth on the National Football League's all-time rushing list. He retired in 2006 after a Super Bowl victory. Bettis attended Mackenzie High School in Detroit, and the University of Notre Dame.:yay: rah-rah:cheer2:

Marcie - Those were more great pics! I'm sorry is was a miserably hot day, but at least it was a vacation day... right?

Tracie - I'm so sorry to hear about the utility bill mixup. Those are bills you can't plan for. I hope it all works out for you. :grouphug:

Mac - Do you want some fries thrown in here and there for you to ketchup on? (groan...)

Jodie - The engagement gala is through wedding number 1 and we have received our "Save the Date" cards for wedding number 2. BTW, wedding number 1... which was supposed to be a quick, informal vow exchange (hence the need for wedding number 2)... took place at a gazebo at the Ritz Carlton Orlando.
And, no matter what your signature says, I will now always think of you as "buttmunch".

Gemma - :lmao: Or maybe I'll think of Jodie/buttmunch as "Pickle" :lmao:

I do volunteer work for an agency that helps folk with state energy grants. Over the last couple of years, the companies have gotten VERY aggressive with shut-off notices. Sympathize, we have older home/very little insulation - i dread the winter utility bills.:grouphug: hope it works out for you.

We have been the victims of CC fraud several times over the years:rolleyes1 (was in Nassau once on cruise when told my CC was frozen - someone had attempted in Spain to purchase thousands of $ of jewelry - glade we had back up card with us). I make sure to pull our credits reports @ least twice a year...always find something that is incorrect & need to fix. This time i saw a past due crop up on one of them:

$3.11 past due gas bill:upsidedow from the month before...in the summer i get lazy & send in a double payment or so on the 1st low bill to avoid writing a small $ check...bizarre IMO...who knew they even reported. I still cannot believe they bothered to report it.:confused3

Well since today is a bank holiday over here in Ireland I shall call you 'Pickle' for the day!

Hey! I knew that! I have been listening to Virgin Radio over the Internet for the past two days, and I wondered what a bank holiday was. Is that like our Labor Day or Memorial Day? I know the next bank holiday in the UK isn't till Christmas cuz they said so like a million times!

Thanks for schooling me on Jerome Bettis!

Tricia, the Ritz is a looong cry from informal, no? Crazy kids! Yes, my sister came up with Buttmunch when I started calling her Bunghole. Imagine my total excitement when I went to Salem, MA one Halloween to find that they had a Bunghole Liquors that sold T-shirts. I must've gotten her a dozen!

Im not sure Pickle.

I don't know what memorial day or labor day is.

We have them once every two or three months or so. I don't know how they decide when a bank holiday will occur but they are always on a Monday and it's when banks are closed and schools are off. All business' are closed. Most shops are still opened though.

That was really rude of me ... of course you wouldn't know what Memorial Day and Labor Day are .. duh. Labor Day and Memorial Day are both on Mondays as well, and although both of them are designated to remember or celebrate something, most people actually do nothing to indicate what the day was actually set aside for. They are terrific holidays for picnics, we don't get mail, the banks are closed, but there tend to be lots of sidewalk sales.

I had to work on Memorial Day and the 4th of July. So, I am very fortunate to have off on Labor Day, next Monday, which pretty much means a long and very well needed weekend (as I'm sure you could tell by my recent scatter-brained posts!). xx Pickle

Yeah, that was my reaction too. How did the quickie vows turn into a gazebo at the Ritz? According to my MIL (who grumbled the whole time about having to go to TWO weddings... and did this mean she was obligated to buy TWO wedding gifts?), the bride wore what looked to her like a formal wedding gown, the men were all in dark suits, and at 4:30pm on a Friday in early August... they were all miserably hot outside at the lakeside gazebo. Understand, this is coming from the grandmother of the groom. Not someone that would usually be looking for the negative.

Buttmunch and Bunghole... are you twins? That would be perfect for twins. I have never heard of Bunghole Liquors, but I would have bought a t-shirt too... just because. :lmao:

The Queen always gets to pick stuff- I think they should let me do it!

I'll vote for you to get a turn Gemma! Oh, wait... we don't get to vote against a Queen, do we?

BTW, Hubby's family is from Ireland. County Galway, if I'm remembering my genealogy correctly. Don't ask me why that just crossed my mind. :confused3

Evenin fellow homies...just stopping by to say hi. I'm getting ready to make dinner after mowing the grass and having a nice shower.

I will sure be glad when it gets cooler...this heat is ridiculous. :sad2:

Hi Everyone!
I'm back from Portofino and wishing I was still there. We had such a wonderful time!
Unfortunately, 1st day back to work today, and my purse was stolen from under my desk. :scared: I lost my house keys, jaguar key, license, cell phone, credit cards, check book, $400 in leftover vacation money that I was going to deposit after work and my DH's digital camera. I'm just sick with worry. DH is right now changing the locks on the doors. I think I got everything cancelled in time. Two hours after the theft, I got a call from the detective telling me that a man tried to cash one of my checks at my bank. :furious: These things are not supposed to happen in Maine...
I'll post some pictures from the trip later when I'm not so upset. :sad1:
