AND don't forget the people that stay offsite, but book a campsite in order to participate in the DDP. I even saw a thread started by a guy that went so far as to book a campsite every third night of his vacation, then went through the hassel of checking in/out 3 times during their stay. You get the DDP for the day of arrival and the day of checkout, so he was cutting it as close as he could. Okay, so what was Mr. El Cheapo renting offsite? A 5 bedroom HOUSE complete with Mickey shaped pool. Yeah, he really needed to save that extra $100... :sad2:

I'd just like to point out that he was probably paying a lot less for that house than you'd think. We paid almost $60 less a night for our 4 bedroom house with gameroom & private (although non-Mickey shaped) pool than we would have for a single room at POR with a trundle bed. Some of it isn't the cost as much as the quality of life! I considered booking one room at the campground in order to to the TL late night EMH, but there was no way I was going to squeeze 5 of us in one tiny room in order to qualify. I can see both sides of it - if he's paying for the campsite than who can complain? But also the point that a lot of sites sit empty and people who need them can't use them.

We're trying to head off camping this evening. Unfortunately DH's flight on United from Houston was cancelled. Called him at midnight to tell him (via an automated system) that his flights had all been changed from Friday to Saturday - sorry. :confused3

So he spent hours on the phone and finally got booked on Delta instead through Atlanta. Well, they got him to Atlanta, but are now attempting to strand him there. So far his flight's been delayed 40 minutes and is now apparently off the monitor. Waiting for updates - boy he doesn't have luck with this stuff!

Meanwhile, we're on our 7th straight day of rain here. I'm hoping it will clear briefly so I can go get the bikes on the camper. We're going to be really running late and since we're camping without electricity, it's going to be rough setting up in the dark! Wish us luck!

Happy Birthday Allison:banana:

it's too hot for cake, how about some cheesecake...
Key Lime Chiffon

Always a favorite, the incomparable flavor of fresh key lime is paired with a delicate chiffon cake, whipped cream and crème fraiche. We wrap this light, airy treat in a patterned almond jaconde sponge for a fabulously festive flair, then top it with clear glaze and sliced fruit. It?s an edible gift they won?t wait to open! drool
KeyLimeChiffon.png

Speaking of Key Lime;) , weirdo BIL lurked in Key West for years, with his people...odd bunch of ducks.

Just hope we don't get diverted to Nassau. DS got chased by a crazy lady @ pier in Nassau, wearing a hat made out of a newspaper when he was 12...hasn't been the same since.:lmao: begged me not to take him back - ha. Talked to a Sams Club TA, she sez they're announcing it on a week-by-week basis; but Costa Maya's down for 6-8 months. They hope Belieze will be ready in a month. Options are Nassau, Key West, Jamaica, Isle of Roatan, Calica or Progresso (pretty wide swath?). Just hate buying a pig in a poke.

you guys are great...give you the bird and you still talk to me.:rotfl2: don't mind me, bird-brain fried...it's 96 & i was grocery shopping all afternoon...off to the pool.

mac - you're skipping Disney?:scared1: who will tell me all about the HM update! I'm still hanging onto the dream of Nightmare Before Xmas when you wish upon a star...

tricia - never would i dream up that scam...know many DVC people were booking the Values (DP & 1 nights' MYW tix - that they'd use on next year's AP). So glad they decided to let us buy the plan the next year. I don't think i could do it; would feel so guilty about someone not getting to stay...bad karma imo.

my "secret" pet peeve (i was pummeled on that board:sick: )...is the campers boldly proclaiming their usage of WL pool/chaises.:rolleyes1 I realize the campground pool is way overdue for an update. You'd just think that if they were going to do it, they'd keep it on the down-low and better yet, not save spots for the rest of their party on the next boat with the pool towels?:confused3

Sorry Alison, I made you a cake but the dog got it!

Thanks Gemma! You really put forth some effort and came through in the end!

Evening everyone!

Well last full day in FL :sad2:

But good news.......we are going to Virginia Roshoshonah (sp?) weekend!!! Since it really was just too hot, even for Sea World, we are going to use our free tickets at Busch Gardens!! :woohoo:

So now there is something to look forward to!

Well, went to Wet n Wild for the last time. It was cloudier today, but still very hot. Left around 1:00ish to shower and change.

We ate at Golden Corral for the last time (at least until VA ;) ) While we were there, the long awaited rain came down....in buckets.

We got back to Vistana, and now I'm looking out the sliding glass door at the palm trees outside the window and they are rocking. Lots of lightning and thunder and super dark skies.

So that's the story right now....maybe I'll try and upload some pics.

I'm going out on a limb and guess that holiday in September would be Rosh Hashanah and not Shoshana Lowenstein... :rolleyes1

so nice of you reporting to us while you are there.
i think marcie set the path for that one.

marcie, hope mr marcie gets home safely.
where do you go camping?

We're heading up to Peninsula State Park in Door County. 6:12 here and flight's still not in, but is at least en route.

Yep, we're going to be setting up a popup in the dark, on a campsite without electricity, most likely in the rain. My favorite! If it wasn't for the 8am tee time for DH and DS12, we'd head out in the morning instead.

Now I have DS15 totally whining at me because he was supposed to be golfing tomorrow and his GF was supposed to be out of town this weekend. However, now she's staying, and because he pulled a muscle in his back playing soccer the other day, he can't golf so now he REALLY doesn't want to go. Why can't he just stay home alone? :confused3 (That's him asking, if you couldn't guess that!) Despite my approximately 300 reasons, he still can't understand. :sad2: Gonna be a fun weekend, I can tell!

Mac, we'll probably be out your way next weekend. Weather permitting, we may bring the kids and some friends out to 6 Flags - let us know if you'll be around and/or want to say hi! Most likely it would just be a single day trip - either Sat or Sun.

Yep, just twiddling my thumbs here waiting for DH!

you bet i do want to meet you!!

i have a season pass, need me to buy your tickets for you at the gate?
i can buy up to 6 of them.

or i can give you the special coke cans where you get $15 off the tickets.

i live 10 miles from six flags by taking the back way and short cut.

Mac - we have season passes as well. Just haven't done a very good job of making it there this season! (After DS12 won that bike back in May!) Anyways, I'll be sure to let you know here as our plans firm up. After the last week of rain, the weather's going to have a big impact on it! I know we'll make it out for one of the Halloween weekends as well though.

For the rest of you who are bored, some more pics while we wait for DH (who's now in Green Bay and driving from the airport) so I can avoid DS who's in tears because I won't let him stay home alone.

DH & Chip waiting for rope drop at Epcot:

The Land - my guys surprisingly ended up loving this ride and we rode it each of the 3 times we were at Epcot so they could see how much had been harvested, how much the plants were growing, etc. each time. They all bought some of the Mickey-sphere plants you could buy as well to grow at home:

The Seas Aqua Tour in the Living Seas - the guys really loved this. I had fun (didn't do the tour) being down in the viewing area watching kids pointing them out and saying "that's my son!":

The pic they got from the tour:

Okay, now for some random World Showcase pics:

(Got this one for Grandma who's a big Alice fan, since her name is...Alice!)

Okay, I'm off camping - you guys hold down the fort without me!

Williamsburg. But none of that Colonial stuff for us ;) ....Glad I am not stuck home for that holiday like my students are :goodvibes
I used to live in Charlottesville...about 2 hours from Williamsburg and you know what? I never went to Colonial Williamsburg...Busch Gardens many times but not the historic area. I did go to Jamestown once in 5th grade.

I'm baaaack. What a day at work today :headache: Back to skool is always a busy time :faint: Then, Bubba popped a key on my laptop (while I was at work....he comes to work with me on Tuesday and Friday the last few weeks before school), but luckily, DH popped it back together. :thumbsup2 :love2: Have to go do a wedding tomorrow afternoon, but, it's close to home...so, that's a plus ;)

Alison, hope the day after your birthday was nice...I see gemma went all out bakin' cakes all day for you...how nice!

KStar....:woohoo: something else to look forward to .....granted, not as good as WDW and UO, but, nonetheless, still somewhere :thumbsup2

Marcie....thanks for sharing your pix...looks like they all had a great time. Good luck w/ camping and settin' up in the dark...yer gonna need it :rolleyes1

Todd...what are you doin' home Friday nite?? :confused3 Shouldn't you be out celebrating your birthday?

Not much else going on....have an early day tomorrow and lots of email to check.....

Hello to all else I didn't address "personally".....

Todd...what are you doin' home Friday nite?? :confused3 Shouldn't you be out celebrating your birthday?
Nah...it's been raining here all evening and I hate driving around town in the rain...heck...I hate driving around when it's not raining...unless I can put the top down. ;)
