Another good recipe-take a whole pork loin get 2lbs of maple bacon-season with cayenne(lightly)black pepper and garlic powder.Wrap it in heavy duty foil, before wrapping it take A dash of lemon and lime juice over the top of it-thro some fresh onions on top and wrap it tight.Wate 2hrs(depending on the size)Or I use a thermoter to make sure..
When its done on a gas grill the neighbors will be knocking on your door!!:cool1:
I have had up to 10 peeps asking whats for dinner>>>:lmao:

why oh why do we submit to this barbaric shock to our internal clocks?

Morning Homies!!! :goodvibes

Need to ask my grilling manly men how they would cook ribs on a gas grill. I did them once very successfully - since then I can't duplicate it :confused3

Happy Friday, all!!

Janet - Frank has been adjusting his internal clock for a week now. His sleep pattern has been off EXACTLY one hour. In bed 7PM awake at 5-530. His usual routine is 8-6-630  Kid is way ahead of his time, I guess :lmao:

HEY THERE MISTER!!!

I grilled steaks in the snow on Monday :rolleyes1

Doing a Beer Can Chicken tonight :worship:

I have come to the conclusion that propane is cheaper than natural gas....so unless it is a dire situation, I grill almost everything!

I'm not a manly man (unless something drastic has changed since I last checked), but I grill.

The trick to ribs is low indirect heat, slow cooked, for a looooong time. Think 5-6 hours. I actually prefer to steam them. Put them on a rack in a pan. Sprinkle with whatever seasoning or rub you want (I like McCormicks Montreal Steak Seasoning). Put water in the pan, not deep enough to reach the rack. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake 275 for about 4 hours. Finish them on the grill for about 5 mins, with BBQ sauce if you want, to crisp the outside enough that they will hold together. You can also boil them for about 30 mins before grilling them for an hour or so.

Or you can do the really easy, but yummy, thing.

Buy a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce (I like Sweet Baby Rays). Cut up ribs if they are in a rack. I usually by the country style ribs that are already in meaty individual ribs. Toss the ribs into a slow cooker. Pour the bottle of BBQ sauce on top. Cook on low for 8 hours.

No slow cooker? Do the same thing in your oven. Put the ribs in a shallow pan. Cover with sauce. Cover tightly. Bake at 250 for 6 hours.

Anytime you grill the ribs, you take the risk of them not getting tender. Even if you steam or boil them first. Boiling before grilling reduces the risk of tough ribs, but it doesn't eliminate it. The only sure way to get tender that I've found is the slow cooker (or baked) in sauce.

Hope that helps!

never tried the beer can chicken...bordering on assult:laughing:

them ribs sound good tricia

pretty much my MO, sometimes in the crockpot in lieu of oven if it's hot

to avoid the tomato/bbq same-old-same-old, i'll marinate them in Kens Dressing - Asian Seasame, pre cook, then top off on grill w/extra basting of the dressing. Best part it's 'diet salad dressing' yet sooo good, ud neve know

im really hungry:upsidedow afraid to go do grocery shopping in the state im in...Lord knows what ill come home with:rolleyes1

Here's a sauce that you all might like:

Hard Rock Cafe Famous Baby Rock Watermelon Ribs

Watermelon rind from 1/2 of small watermelon
1 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 C. water
1/4 C. tomato ketchup
1/4 C. distilled vinegar
3/4 t crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 t. liquid smoke
1/4 t. black pepper
4 poounds baby back ribs

For the pureed watermelon rind, cut off the green skin and about half an inch of the hard white part, keeping the part of the watermelon that is lighter red to white. Stay away from the harder white part. Put the rind into a food processor and puree for about 10 secs. Strain the liquid from the pulp and use 1 c. of pulp.

Combine the watermelon pulp with the remaining ingredients for the sauce in a med. saucepan over high heat. Bring the mix to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for about 1 hour or until it's as thick as you like it.

Cut racks of ribs into plate-size portions of about 6 or 7 rib bones each. Brush the ribs with the barbecue sauce and wrap each rack individually in alumium. Be sure to save some suace for later. Let the ribs marinate in the fridge for a couple of hours at least. (overnight best)

Preheat oven to 300F. To cook the ribs set them with the seam of the foil facing up, into the oven. Bake for 2 -2 1/2 hrs. or until the rib meat has pulled back from the cut end of the bones by about 1/2 inch. They should be very tender.

Remove the ribs from the foil and brush on some additional sauce. Grill the ribs on a hot barbecue for 2 to 4 mins. per side or until you see several spots of charred sauce. Be sure to watch ribs so that they do not burn. Serve with leftover sauce on the side.

The secret is the slow bake 1st in the oven to get them tender.

I have found a great rib rub from North Carolina that I just love--Bone Suckin' Sauce. You can use it dry or wet (mixed with water) www.bonesuckin.com
I've been sprinkling it on everything--good stuff.
