Morning All! The kids are finally going back to school after almost 2 weeks!

Hey Mac, won't Disney be busy regardless during the time that I'm going (late June)? I may switch after all, I just have to see if I get the free Universal pass and/or I can get the ADR's that I want. I'm really leaning towards Disney, since I haven't been to 3 out of 4 parks in like 4 or 5 years, and I was just at Universal. I don't know, I have until May to make up my mind. If you've already made payments over your deposit and cancel, you get those refunded, right?

if you cancel now or 45 days prior to your arrival date, you will be refunded all the money you pre paid for the package.

late june can have their crowds as schools are out of session then.
but, late june is much better than july at disney.

i noticed on the May calendar for disney that they are closing the parks early that month. 7 pm closing for dhs, mk closing earlier, etc.

hopefully since more crowds will be at disney in late june, the hours will be extended for park closings.

on the other hand, universal is a lot of fun too!!

Good morning!

Awesome pics, CDn Pooh!

3 more days of work, plus the weekend thrown it there. Trip is getting closer! I can't wait to see pics of HR3. Oh, how I wish it would be ready to ride...

Have a great day!

4 more wake ups and you will be there!!

woo hoo..........

i hope you have warm weather there for your vacation.

you know, we all are drooling.........the ones left behind always drool when another homie goes to the darkside without them.....

hello Mr Metro........and all the other homies this morning

From past posts it sounds like you like the cooler rides at Universal? Are you sure you want to wait in lines?:goodvibes

It's almost 11 and the kiddies still aren't in bed.

MIL emailed yesterday and said she won't be here until Saturday. But the turkey I took out on Sunday to thaw needs to be cooked tonight and frozen. So I'll be at a wedding all day Saturday in Memphis, and they'll be home eating the frozen leftovers.

Yippee....

It's going to be a long night.

I'm in same boat. School had a 2 hr delay so my son stayed up working on a science project. In a normal universe, he would get an A, but I'm sure he won't get above a C. The woman is insane. Many parents have tried to get her removed. I was told on the 1st day of my daughter's 7th grade, that if she can make it through 7 grade, 8th grades a breeze. It was true, so I'm just counting the days--98 to go.:)
yikes minnie, i know you are in pain.
and dd probably had a hand in it.............but it is so worth it..:thumbsup2

i don't understand why doc didn't get back to you on your xrays. and now he wants to give you a treatment plan.
do what you think is best for you. living in chronic pain isn't fun.

i use a chiropractor and do adjustments frequently. i know many people don't believe in using them, but for me, they are a life saver.

i wish my shot today was for present pain.
i'm doing orthovisc in the knee joint for a series of 3 injections.
after 3 weeks and 3 injections, it will take 3 weeks after that to determine if they were successful.

if they aren't, then more surgery.

as long as i have everything taken care of before mid september, i'm all for it.

have to be in good walking condition for hhn.....

i do have my priorities.

once i get the one leg fixed up, then i have to deal with the other leg.
that one is not the same problem as what i am going thru now but a different issue.

I've always been afraid to go to a chiro, but PT is about the same.
I don't understand my doctor either. I've always gone to doctors who won't prescribe anything w/o seeing you. This guy and he's a young internal medicine guy (about 38) will prescribe w/o even seeing the patient. And he never seems to be in his office anymore. I hate to change because I did a lot of research to find a good internal med guy and its a huge hassle.

My hubby has a torn meniscus and a hairline fracture on his tibia and his priorities were still in the right place too when we went after Christmas:rotfl
:

Get those legs healed soon:flower3:

hey all, balmy 1 degree here, no skool delay:rolleyes2 , saw on weather map it was -13 in chicago:scared: regular day @ the office right mac?;)

that med in ur knees, sounds to be the 'stuff' (never was named as to brand) that dr. wants to shoot into ma's knees..he termed it artificial cartilage? She's had the hip injections different stuff, quit though-just not doing the trick for her. She refused, yet if it's the same stuff & works for u let me know, maybe i can coax her a bit.:goodvibes

MJ - we're considering tennis camp again this year, went to Findlay's site @ Slippery Rock & saw lots of cool pics of happy campers...if memory servers, this is the one ur kiddos attend? Considering a 3 day 'super clinic' beginning of July. DS doesn't want to stay a week:confused3 , i don't really want to do the drive every day...especially since it'd take me past the Grove City outlet:smokin: ; wonder if 3 days would be beneficial?

stay warm all:wave2:

It's always winter time in chicagoland keisha.
Even in the spring and fall, our furnace runs.
You just get used to it.

The medicine i am getting the injections for is Orthovisc. It is similar to synovial fluid, a substance that occurs naturally in the joints. Synovial fluid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber. It is injected into the knee joint.

Problem i had yesterday was i had too much fluid on the knee.
The doc had to drain the knee and take out 100 cc's first so he could get to the joint. The procedure to drain the knee is what is painful.........
since the doc had a line in to the knee, he just inserted the meds into that for the joint yesterday.

Tell your mom that no matter what the orthopaedic doc says, you do need the series of 3 every 7th day for it to be effective. Then you have to wait for 3 weeks after the 3 injections are done to see if the procedure is considered effective. From what i have read and been told by my doc, it usually is a 60 to 70% chance of fixing up the problem.
The meds work for 6 months and then would be repeated for another 3 series then.
If your mom only gets one injection, it won't work like it should as some of the meds do get absorbed into your system. It is supposed to stay in a localized area in the joint but our bodies are not made that way to keep it there permanently.

For me, it is worth it to avoid surgery again.

Tell mom that the pain is like getting a shot. Shots never feel wonderful but it is over quickly. My doc froze the skin before the shot. He sprayed a substance on the leg and knee and I could not feel the prick of the needle then. Yea, I'm a big wuss on needles. He knows me well..

The meds can be different for everyone. I felt a burning sensation right away but it subsided as i drove home after having it done.
On the website, some people say it hurt while others say they did get a tad of relief right away. Lots of different opinions.

Once my knee was drained, I really felt great. I can bend it now and not need my crutches. That alone was worth it.

If your mom had medicare, I think she would need to get a pre cert on the procedure as it is listed as a surgical procedure. Each injection costs $672 and her medicare should cover all of that.

The only side effect I had was the start of a migraine 4 hours after the shot.
That subsided when I got up this morning. Now, no headache and no knee ache in the injection site. I think this will work for me as I can bend my knee still. I'm looking forward to the rest of the shots. well, not looking forward to the needle but the after effects of getting back to normal that is.

Check out the website as there are other medications that can be injected besides Orthovisc.

Tell mom to try it and see if she gets temporary relief from the first shot.
She'll never know until she tries it. If it helps her, then that is great!

Freezing here too . We had 22 as the high today and for us that is pretty cold since this morning it was close to 0 . Why oh why is it so COLD :confused3 . I just want this :beach: weather now.

Busy again ... DD has a dentist apointment . Went to get an oil change and car wash today as well as a PTA meeting so I am pretty much done . I am so tired I need to stop getting up at 5 every morning . Now I am awake before the alarm even goes off. :crazy2: .

Hope everyone stays warm ...

you are missed here!

Yeah were is Patser. He is posting but not here:confused3 !!

I love his jokes!!

I'm here! I've just been checking all around the boards. Trying to pass the time. The last few days always go by soooo slowly...

Mac-The knee thing sounds painful. I am a total needle phob. That's why I always get Valium before dental visits. I hope it works for you. Oh, interesting about the freezing the skin first. I'll have to remember that if I ever need needles. My podiatrist wanted to inject my heel w/cortisone and, well, I don't think so! Maybe with a freeze? Hmm.

I see lots of homies winning a free ticket. Very cool. I wish I could give mine to someone in need since I can't use it.

how romantic;)

ps i've heard grown men say getting a knee drained was the most painful thing they've ever experienced:scared:

I have had knee problems since high school.(football and wrestling)
My knee got as big as a grapefriut from fluid buid up!!

When they drained it I saw stars when that needle hit the bone. They dont numb you much at all!!!!!!!!!!

But when they shot the cortizone in,it was a god send..

You know when you go too the ER and they ask you to judge the pain on the scale of 1-10, 1 bieng a pain and 10 child birth..How does a man know what child birth pain is..:confused3

I just said it HURTS DO SOMETHING!!!!!

My knee is getting worse and I hate the thought of doing this again..

Another cold night here in sunny Florida...my plants were killed last week but my orange tree is fine. :thumbsup2

donald, just tell yourself that wimp mac who says really bad words when i needle is near her, managed to get the knee drained without embarrasing herself.

just think to yourself, if mac can do it, i can do it.

you are correct, when the needle hits the bone it is ouchie time....
but with the skin being numbed up with that spray and having novacaine put in after that, it did take away the worse pain for the draining needle went in under the skin.

that needle has a flat head and is BIG.

doc thinks i will have to have the knee drained again within the next 2 weeks.
damn

Donald, if your knee is getting worse now, see a doc.
if you stay swollen and have excess fluid around the knee, the joints ache so much you want to cry.

when you go and if you have it done, think of something that will take your mind off of it.

most men think of sex.

think of some enhanced poster gal but if your wife is with you, think about fishing. if you started to drool when you have your knee drained and daisy was with you, she might ask what in the world are you thinking.

whatever you do, just say, fishing.......:rolleyes1

or she might slug you and then you would be hurting.
