Hey, all you homies! We made it back safe and sound last night and I've made a very small dent in the laundry.

I got my camera out to sort pics adn start the TR, but got a phone call about problems in our rescue group. So I'll be hashing a few things out there tonight and work on the TR after I resign from the group tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks for all the well wishes! Looks like we picked the perfect week to be there with the cold front moving in right as we leave. We were too tired to keep vacationing, but I was sad to leave. I LOVE UNIVERSAL!!!!!!!!!!

Katie, what a gorgeous bride you will be!

DM, we really love all the Lego games here, too! They're faves.

Janet, sorry about the ouchy foot.... Heal quickly! That's an order!

Scotlass, oh you poor thing! I hope you start feeling better soon and keeping your food down. I so hate throwing up, and pain, and hospitals. My heart and prayers are with you.

Everyone else, I'm braindead and I'll remember what I wanted to say when I get offline. Cheers and grins! :goodvibes

Hi Homies-
I haven't been here in 2 days, need to read up the pages I missed a little later.
 and prayers for all who need it.

Found out this afternoon I won a small prize from a radio contest I entered today!!! :dance3: :cool1: :yay:
One of my SILs emailed me that I won something. She heard my name called on the radio, unfortunately I didn't have the radio on at the time. It is a giftcard to a restaurant. Won't receive it for a few wks tho. I don't care, at least I won something! :cool1:
I feel blessed that I won!
I took a few months off of entering contests and just started back up yest. Didn't think I would win so fast!

Ok, I gotta run and get dinner going, showers get going for the kids .etc

Tell Ya what,13:Fear Is For Real is a pretty good show.Kinda like Saw meets Survivior..Gonna watch this, see Ya'll tommorrow..

Goodnight all!!

Wow Janet - rarely do I spend UNDER $100 on a grocery run, no matter how little I set out to get! Although now that oldest DS' girlfriend works at a local grocery store (a smaller one with higher prices - not the one I'd normally shop at), it's at least convenient. Any time I just need one or two things, I can send him over to get them. I'm happy, he's happy, she's happy - win/win situation overall! :thumbsup2

And yeah, I guess we left the door open. Although it's warmer in my freezer than outside, so I'm not sure which door! Supposed to be possible record lows here tonight. Wind chills of -35 to -45 - joy! :sad2: Guess we'll see what happens as far as school tomorrow!

Okay, time for the first batch of pics. These are from my trip with the younger two (and friend and GF). Sorry the camera apparently had a splotch on it while skiing!

The whole gang having fun in the pool. This worked out well since the hotel was pretty empty. They were able to be as obnoxious as they wanted. Later we saw another large, obnoxious group in the pool, but since the average age there was about 7 or 8, it was good both groups weren't in at the same time:

They found out quickly that the door opened outside and they could go out and get snow and icicles:

The group skiing - yes, I was the only one on a snowboard and the only non-teen. That makes sense! :confused3

Trying to get a shot of DS and his GF, but I was looking into the sun and the camera didn't have a viewfinder, so it was a guess:

More pics to follow. The guys made it back from Colorado, so I have a few, more impressive pics from their skiing. Somehow Vail is more exciting than a little dinky place in Michigan!

Okay, everyone's either gone or ignoring me here (at home, not on the boards ;) ) so I guess I'll go ahead and post the rest of my pics. Well, actually these are the ones from Colorado, so they're not mine.

Matt and Royce the first day at Keystone - it was a nice, sunny day there:

At Keystone, with Breckenridge in the background:

Pretty view from the gondola:

Matt the next day at Vail. This one is funny just because it looks like he was just photoshopped into the pic. Doesn't look like he's actually there!

IMG_2586.jpg

They ended up racing at both of the places they skied at. They also met up on Sunday at Vail with the guy my husband knows from work that he skied there with in December. Here's them all with their medals after the race:

IMG_2593.jpg

Matt got a nice fleece jacket for his girlfriend (who got to celebrate while he was gone by having all 4 of her wisdom teeth pulled! :headache: ). He also got a cool shirt that says Vail on the front, and on the back has the big mountain and says something like "Don't follow me. You'd never make it!" ;)

Finally, a pic of him and the cadet he toured with all day Monday at the Air Force Academy. He's actually the older brother of one of the boys on Matt's soccer team, so we'd requested Matt be with him if possible. Cool that it worked out. Matt also found out that they haven't sent any acceptances for their summer program yet, so it's not a bad sign that he hasn't received one yet.

Okay, I'm going to go see if anyone here will pay any attention to me NOW! Have a good evening all! Stay warm!

i'm here marci, i'm paying attention.

and i even read everything you posted.......

my sil and her husband own a place in breckenridge.
yup, they are skiers.

Well, Chrissy got her wish- school is closed today due to the below 0 temp and windchill. Windchill around -20 to -25. temp at -11 this morning.
My DH says the school district are wimps
Looks like pretty much all the surrounding school dists are closed as well.
Got 2 phone calls from the school dist automated thing saying school is closed. THe first call there was some kind of glitch they had to fix.
Well, no band practice afterschool today. Wonder if band practice will be rescheduled?
Kids are happy no school, not sure if I'm happy about it. Kids will be driving me nuts today :scared:
Hope DH's car starts this morning.

We are supposed have a warm up next week. Maybe a spring thaw?

Marcie- enjoyed your pics :thumbsup2
the Colorado ones are pretty!

Janet- hope you are healing well from your procedure on your foot

Tracie- hoping all goes well with you eye

donaldduck- hope all goes well with the testing :wizard:

mac- are schools closed by you today?

Wow, looks like the high school dist schools are open today in my area.

Talk later.

Schools closed here as well. Husband said the exact same thing as yours Rose - Wimps!! I think they just should have done a callout last night and told everyone it would be cold and to make sure their kids were dressed for it. It's Green Bay for Pete's sake - people own coats and hats! :confused3 At least they announced it last night. Currently -40 wind chill. Not sure if it got any colder earlier this morning since I was huddled under my electric blanket (where I'm considering heading back to!). Unfortunately, I still have to go to work.

I had this good dream this morning right when I woke up. I was out riding my bike and noticing that it almost felt HOT out! It was probably in the 60's in my dream, but I stopped at a playground and went on the swings, and then noticed someone having a garage sale, so continued to bike over there. I was worrying about being late for work, and thinking maybe I'd just call in since it was SUCH a nice day! Yeah, I know, wishful thinking, eh?! :sad2:

Mac - I wasn't complaining about being ignored here (on the boards) but "here" (at home). Younger two were at religious ed, Matt had his girlfriend over, and DH was alternating between talking on the phone and working on his computer. So I kept coming back here since I had nothing to do. Well, I could have been doing laundry or something, but you know how that goes! :rotfl: But, thanks for reading it all!

Rose - I haven't heard about any warming trends here. If I look out into our 10 day forecast, I barely see anything over 20. Although I suppose compared to the current temp, I should consider that warm! I think I mentioned that when we went skiing last weekend, it was -14 when we got there. By afternoon it was about 17 and Eric was skiing with his jacket unzipped, complaining about how hot he was! So I guess it's all relative!

Hi to everyone else - bundle up today!

Great pics Marcie. Those kids are nuts getting out of the hot tub and going out to sit in the snow!

Good luck to Matt with the Air Force Academy's summer program.

Good Morning Everyone

DS is still  . Me and DH are again fighting again and guess who started this fight yup MIL again. I have had enough :headache: .

Speaking of weather it is snowing it is FREEZING here and snowing . Schools are open but DS is home and both DD went . I will have to go pick them up later from the bus stops .

Got to go , going to keep the little guy busy today and try to clean up .

BBL :surfweb:

morning homies.

we have school today.
school is rarely canceled in the districts around here..
school buses start up and run, then we have school.....

right now it is the same temp as it was an hour and a half ago, that's when school started.
-11 degrees
with the real feel at -29.

the wind is not strong here at all right now.
i stuck my head out the front door and it is very calm.
it's cold alright but when the wind is calm, i'm okay with the outside.

marci and rose: you said it, wimps!! :rotfl:
the only time our skools would close is if the winds are about 30 to 40 mph.

for our high school, all the kids that live 1/3 mile from school are on a bus route. there is no reason for the school to close when 80% of the kids can be there. elementary kids of K-6 just go to the gym instead of outdoor recess. our middle school does not have any recess time.

due to that, schools stay open unless the busses don't run.

on a different note, did anyone watch last night's AI?
my butt will be in front of the tv all this season for that....

and Grissom..........tonight is his final appearance as a regular on CSI.
i'm calling dibs on the couch for that one tonight..!

hey all

it's even colder here, i am feeling wimpish after seeing marci's gang sitting in the snow:eek: was whining yesterday as i had to trudge out to car (sweeping snow with broom all the way), followed by cleaning said car out of the snow drift...all the while in a sandal as i can't fit foot/bandage into shoe (even a sock hurts)...i was thinking i'd get frostbite:laughing: brrr, i rummaged today & found an old pair of tube sox:banana: im happy lol

marci - another great set of pics, do u scrapbook? im lucky if i get 'some of' mine developed & stuffed in an album:rolleyes1 . re grocery runs, trust me i do tend to make 2 or 3 or 4 runs a week:upsidedow dh has a thing for eating non-frozen meat...i indulge him when i can :confused3

not to sound like a broken record, yet i don't know how yinz guys from the frozen tundra ever get used to this extreme weather:upsidedow .

skool was delayed today, probably would've been cancelled if it wasn't mid-term week. There was a issue a few years back where a parent dumped their kid @ bus stop then went to work (didn't get the shout out that there was a cancellation...kid did get frostbite before the police noticed him standing there):sad2: so they r very careful to now have 2 hr delays when it's below 10 degrees

Happy Thursday everyone ...

It's actually a warmish day here ... only -5C (23F) ... that's a nice Winter day where you don't have to bundle up as much!

Schools are never canceled here in Winter :confused3

Hi Guys. It's almost Friday!!! Which means that DH cooks.... which means that we get to eat out!! I've got a "buy one get one free" Ruby Tues coupon, so will probably end up there. Love their salad bar.

Speaking of cold weather, DS's car sits outside while he is in Florida going to school, so once in awhile I take it to work to keep the battery charged. Had to scrape frost off the inside of the windshield this morning. :confused3 :upsidedow
