Something About Nothing............ #14

Well, the flag football/cheer camp went well, nice weather for it this week.

turkey was sliced down, carcass into broth, three pumpkin pies made (it’s a rule here, you make a turkey; there better be pumpkin pies). Leftovers for dinner tomorrow woohoo.

Only going to be 62 degrees tomorrow, will have a 30 degree bump by the end of the week. Laughingly, it may be warmer here on the 16th and what we will find in Orlando. I’m betting the humidity there will make it feel twice as hot tho lol

A quick drive by to count noses here.
Nice to catch up on how all the homies have been doing.
And how are you doing?
Early mornings are more chances to find nothing new, except the news.
Even tho I am a news junkie, pretty much just leave it one all day as background noise. My am viewing when in bed deciding whether I’m actually rolling out of it is whatever looks interesting on the DVR.

Lately, have been whittling down the last season of the Simpsons. Nice to start the day off with some belly laughs.
Kids are coming home tomorrow, more lake fun for them today. They said their hotel room overlooks the water. I’m glad they have had a great time on their road trip.
Bet the house has been quiet. Nice to hear they get along so well. Too many don’t want to hang with family at that age.
I think a trip to urgent care may be in order.
Oh no. Maybe seasonal allergies afoot?

I’m of the mind that all honest work is a good thing. You can learn something from every job. However, yes, you do hate to see them be under employed. This just might be the impetus to return to school for advanced degree. Seriously, a wonderful benefit for the free education for her. So many kids are saddled with huge student loans.
Good morning all. Up in the Tennessee mountains still.
Beautiful views.
Almost heaven (no, wait that’s West Virginia) lol. JK

Can’t say I’ve ever set foot in that state. Don’t think I can get there from here. Which is what I say everytime the mr asks if I have any interest of going to Dollywood. Frustratingly land locked, my rule of thumb is: if I’m driving 6 hours or more, there better be a beach involved.

Kids drove to NF, and went on the Maid of the Mist. They had a great time. Also went to the little Erie Zoo and went face to face with a lynx. Ending of a great road trip for them.

I am so lucky my kids get along so well.

DH just got home, and I had a great afternoon with my sister. Alarm set, trash cans at curb, and almost ready for bedtime for me.

Good night all.

I hear an echo again......

Anyway........

Hey all!

Well, you sure have a knack for it

Thanks. Just back from another meet. Again, 1st in triple & 800 m, 4th in long jump. 400 & 800 b2b, so she skipped it this week as trying to set another PR on it. Next weekend nationals in Phillie.

Got sweet talked into buying 4 cute new disney Target collection of long midriff sort of tank tops. They will cover her waist band so I’m good lol. I don’t get the whole limited release, hunger games sort of thing to obtain thing for much of their clothing. What do i know?

Tired, sliced down leftover roast beef & made hot sandwich for the mr. The ends of the meat then got mixed with some Salsa & bit of gravy, will go over nachos.

Read a hack about making a frozen pizza taste better. Tell me more, I never buy them as they taste like cardboard. Turns out, you thaw them out in the refrigerator, then bake. Ummm tempted, I tried.

Did doctor up a very thin crust one with green pepper, sausage, pepperoni, black olives & some yellow pickled peppers.

New dog learned a trick. Going to stock freezer with a few for those days I’m clueless

Very early indeed but, lovely

What sort of plant/tree is that? Don’t think I’ve ever seen it before

Well, can’t complain, really the first time things just fell apart. Can live with those odds. Going for PT on Monday, 2nd one. I’m really not feeling the deep tissue massage to try to break down my muscles (that are too tight) and old scar tissue. Same with the yoga. Trying to get an attitude adjustment & give it a chance but, not there yet.

Everyone really seems to love Nutella. I’ve tried as kids and GD enjoy it. It’s just a bit too sweet for me I think. Have melted it and used as syrup on waffles for them.

Tomorrow supposed to attend a flag football camp my boys are holding in the am. Same as last Sunday. Complimentary, nice way for kids to try out the sport. It’s getting quite popular in our area now, even with girls. Long as it’s warmer than last week, I’m good to go. Fun to see the little ones out on the field.

Little star!!!! She really is impressive Janet and a definite superstar of the future!

I did write you an email last night, I saw this morning it hadn`t gone so will send it later, I don`t like to send it my time in case your alert disturbs you! But, the tree is a common laburnum, beautiful and this is the "floweriest" is that even a word lol.....that it`s ever been.

I`ve never bought frozen pizza???? Handy trick though if you do buy them again. The ones in the UK are truly awful, I only know through others who have used them.

Yes, we were up very early that morning with the sunrise....all is explained ::yes::

Good luck with the appointments!!!

A quick drive by to count noses here.
Nice to catch up on how all the homies have been doing.

:wave2:

Quick hello before heading off to church. It’s my turn to provide some of the snack foods. Sometimes I bake, but somedays, like today, I take the easy way out. I will be stopping by Dunkin on the way to church and picking up donut holes.

It can be infuriating at times. Anthem will often tell you not to use part of the ID number and then later ask for all of it. I have a copy of the military alphabet next to my desk for the companies that have alpha prefixes.

I don’t think enjoying is the correct word. She likes it okay, but would rather be doing something else. We still haven’t convinced her to go to grad school yet.

She is definitely refunding the money to the client. The client was trying to come up with sneaky ways to give it back to her, but the therapist said no. The client will either keep her refund or donate to charity.

Interesting. I will give that a try sometime.

I can hear B clearing her throat in the other room. She has been complaining about a sore throat and feeling like her ears need to clear. I think a trip to urgent care may be in order.

That`s a shame, yes to get a degree and not fulfill it is a shame, sounds like she can do so much more. I`d definitely encourage her to go to Grad school, especially as no cost to her.

And hope she feels better.

Good morning all. Up in the Tennessee mountains still.
Beautiful views.

Hope you`re having a lovely trip.

I have a good view of those mountains from my house when I walk to the top of my ridge.

You live in a gorgeous area mac, so many areas to explore and walk around.

lol....I hear ONJ too when I hear West Virginia......

I don`t think I`ve ever watched a full episode of the Simpsons (the shame) Never quite got it.

So, this is turning into quite the joke now.

Our weather is awful, we have a weather warning for today for high winds and it`s cold. It`s almost mid June and the longest day is just around the corner!!!

mac....send us over some of your heat....pretty please!!!!

Change of plan today, not volunteering in school this morning, so going to give blood as they are asking for more donations then we need to go buy a new fridge freezer. The one in the utility room finally gave up the ghost at around 5 years old.....seems to be a standard age for then now. Looking to get another Bosch one as we do like that brand. Came down on Sunday to find everything in the fridge part was frozen solid....quite funny really. So we moved everything to the other fridge freezer and stand alone chest freezer and switched it off. Will order a new one today.

Then joining Tom with his volunteering this afternoon and this week I`m taking an elderly lady shopping, she is 94 and can do more or less everything for herself with some help, so someone takes her shopping twice a week and they are away this week so I offered and look forward to doing it.

So, as the weather is almost cold....tonight I`m making a chicken and leek pie for dinner, simple roasted veg to go with it. We really should have the grill out and be sitting outside this time of year......not yet it seems!!

Have a lovely Monday and week ahead.....:thumbsup2

Always nice to get a complement that you look younger then your actual years. It does put a smile on your face.

Sounds like Kyle had lots of help with his decoration job. Wonderful that you all stepped in and helped him get settled in his new place.

Yes, getting those big dollar improvements done on your home do pay in the end when you go to sell for sure. It does give you peace of mind.

Thank you Carole. Everything went well with Doc appt. Did get her opinion on my upcoming procedure with dermatology surgeon in July. She is a wonderful doctor.

So good to hear she is doing well. I’am sure having the wonderful care of her parents is making her feel better too.

We have had some nice coverage on some stations of the Normandy events. Like you said It is very touching to see the veterans honored.

I can’t imaging getting off one of those landing craft and trying to step on that beach under heavy fire. So many lost their lives in that war.

I pray their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Janet sorry to hear you had issues with your procedure. Hope you feel better soon.

Those headaches are horrible. I hope you are feeling better. I think there is something to be said about those headaches having some link to severe barometric pressure changes for sure.

Those are nice pictures your children sent.

If I was the Therapist I would refund the money to the patient and the patient can donate the money herself. That could be a very legal gray area with Medicare.

Gray start to the day with light rain this morning.

It was warm and sunny yesterday. I had little J for the day and we went to a splash pad play area and he had the best time.

I have a few things to do in the house and yard today. Will see what I can get done then the rest will wait til tomorrow.

Days until vacation.

Need to get moving this morning.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Your quote disappeared Robbie!!! Darn gremlins in the works...

We had a blast doing everything with him for his new home, he did a lot himself which was nice to see!!

Glad you`re happy with the Dr, makes all the difference and good luck with going forward, procedures like that are not fun, but sounds like you have every confidence in her.

lol....I keep telling myself when I look at the new roof......it`s worth it long term.....haha!!! We will downsize at some point, but right now we`re happy here.

Glad you have such nice times with the little guy, they are such a joy to be around!!!

Monday morning, and cool enough out, the AC is not running yet. High of 74, but a full day of glorious sunshine, as already bright out now.

Those trash trucks will be heard sooner than later this morning.

Glad my laptop fired up fast, and quick logging in. Tea mug, and quiet, though DH already had a meeting this early morning. He starts an hour earlier than me. Sigh, at least he can telework all the time, joy for me to city commuting the next three days.

Most Marvelous Monday today, to all, and hope all are feeling good.

I’m in full procrastination mode today. Never works yet, I persist

Also went to the little Erie Zoo and went face to face with a lynx.
They offer a lot of animal interactions. It always reminded me of a large scale petting zoo as so compact. Fit the bill for us many times when small youngins in hand to help kill a couple of hours on a less than stellar beach day.

Haven’t been to NF in over a decade. Quit after two trips having long waits to cross into Canada.
The ones in the UK are truly awful, I only know through others who have used them.
99.9% here taste like cardboard.

Not generally a real thin crust fan but, those (almost flat bread sorts) seem to have best chance of being edible if you doctor them up with toppings
I don`t think I`ve ever watched a full episode of the Simpsons (the shame) Never quite got it.
It’s the pop culture references, sprinkled with liberal doses of satire and irony that keep me hooked
Then joining Tom with his volunteering this afternoon and this week I`m taking an elderly lady shopping, she is 94 and can do more or less everything for herself with some help,
God bless her for keeping on trucking

Once you voluntarily decide to sit down and watch the world pass by, you have started to write the last chapter

I think I`ve probably seen most of the references over the years in memes and so on, but never been a fan although I do love irony!

Now Flat Breads are something to enjoy, if done correctly.

She is an amazing woman, called Louisa which for someone her age is rather unusual, according to her. She is very good friends with a lovely American man and his wife, Edgar came to our area several years ago, proper Southern gentleman who tells his history of his experiences in Louisiana and South Carolina with such humility, we could all listen to him for hours. Anyway, he and his wife usually take her weekly despite their advancing age, but they are travelling to Georgia for a wedding, so I was happy to do it.

She reminds me of my mum, drop in on her and she`ll be up a ladder as she couldn`t wait for someone to do something for her...lol....I agree yes, keep moving with the world or you`ll lose.

Procrastination is underrated!!

Second change of plan for today.

Went to give blood which was fine, until I went to stand up.....I didn`t faint, but felt very woozy, so they made me stay an extra 15 minutes, I was fine by then, but no volunteering this afternoon for me, I`m under orders so decided to do as I was told for once. Tom was wanting to stay with me, but honestly, never felt better!!

So, I made some lunch and when he set off I went online and ordered our new fridge freezer for the utilty room, basically the same design as the one we are getting rid of. No stock available, so we have to wait for maybe a week, it`s fine as we have the other ones to fall back on.

Ready for dinner and it`s barely 4pm, couple of hours to go yet....maybe a snack time.

I`m under orders so decided to do as I was told for once.
I’m a “universal donor”. They’d call me to come & play. Didn’t mind as such a little gesture saved lives

Always amazed me when I’d see the big guys faint dead away at sight of needle

Then, I had same sort of thing happen where I stood up & plopped straight down on floor. Served me right lol

Drink something sugary.

Maybe toss in a shot, medicinal purposes

lol...I`ve seen that too, some men don`t even get the needle in them before turning pale before our eyes! I really don`t mind needles but many have an aversion to them for sure.

I do give blood regularly but haven`t for a while due to one thing and another, always feel guilty when so much time lapses between donations. Fainting can happen so easily though, usually in warm weather, we haven`t got that excuse today!! I can imagine how you felt though when you dropped to the floor!

I had some pineapple juice when I came in, but genuinely felt fine, I think maybe I`m just a little tired....that 3am walk on the beach is catching up with me lol.....

Sun is blistering now, but apparently rain is due in two hours or so. Oh well.

Happy Monday, Carole:

I have been absent for a while but am back on track:)
I wanted to mention about your fainting after giving blood? I used to give blood regularly with no problem, and then one time they wouldn't let me. They always tested to see if you could give blood (something to do with the fluid levels in the blood I think). I guess I didnt' pass the test and was afraid to donate after that. Maybe you should have that type of test before giving blood again. Maybe that is why? I wish I could remember the exact test, but they took a sample and put it in a watery substance. If it floated you couldn't give blood and if it sunk you were okay to donate. I hope I don't have that all backwards so forgive me if I have that wrong.
All that to say that maybe you should be tested before giving blood the next time. I did feel dizzy after giving blood before they tested me.

I will catch up with you later:)

ruth

I am going to catch up a little bit with everyone since I've been absent for a while. Sometimes life gets busy on top of not feeling quite like myself for a while. I blame that long, long car trip with starting it all:)

Janet: I hope you are feeling better after your procedure! It's disappointing when those things happen.
And Thank you for all your help and information on HHN:) You have really been a big help. I still don't know if my son wants to go but he seems very interested. I hope you PT went ok today? I get regular massages, but I cannot tolerate any deep muscle massage with my fibro. Hope it does help you!

Hi Mac: Yes I'm still here:) Hope to be able to post more often:)

Robo: Congratulations on your vacation coming up soon - single digits coming! Have a great time.

Charade: I'm glad that lady is getting the money back. I wonder about the legality of that too, but if she gets the money back she can do whatever she wants and you guys are off the hook. When did things get so complicated?

Pumpkin: I hope your migraine is long gone now? I used to get them too. It's funny, but I quit having them so much when I quit work. Maybe that played a small part in it, I dont know.

I sympathize with Carole on the cool weather hanging on! It was 37 degrees this AM! It's June 10th for heavens sake! I started out this am with jeans, warm top, and a jacket. By the time we got home from our Monday shopping, it was to warm for those. Crazy weather pattern, but it is mostly cool to cold with high winds lately. Our flowers definitely do
not like this weather. They are slow to grow.

PLans today after the store day is some gardening since we are supposed to reach 70 today. More weeks to pull (it seems like I just weeded the gardens) and plants to water.

We had a small bear show up again last evening. It looks to be around one year old and was probably kicked out of the den by it's mother. We've chased it away twice now because it was trying to get into the bird feeders. Now we have to stop feeding the birds for a while. Our garbage cans are put away too. Little ones dont' look too scary bu Mama could be around.

It seems the first line of my post just magically disappeared???? I just said high to everyone or something like that. I don't know if something is wrong with my laptop or not, but a lot of things are acting "funny" when I am online.

Have a nice week everyone,

ruth

Yes, they do give us a haemoglobin check every time before we donate, everything seemed ok as she said I was good to go. Yes, if it sinks within a set time you can donate if it floats or doesn`t sink in a continuous motion they can give you another check, I forget what that one is as I only ever had that once years ago. I blame being tired as I do feel fine.

Bears!!! Yup....keep an eye out for mama bear!

I sympathise with you on your weather...it sucks for June for sure. Today we`ve had the cold, hot sunshine, cold and then rain.....we yearn for some sunshine. Heard from one of our friends in orlando today and said it is Africa hot right now!!!

You have a lovely week too Ruth.

Lazy night ahead for us......yep, lazy for sure.

Watching some tv and watching the sky outside get incredibly dark again, looking out to see it would appear to be thundery, but it`s not forecast.

Looking forward to taking Louisa shopping tomorrow, she likes to go to two stores, so I have my orders of which one first. Will see if she wants to go and visit a farm store or garden centre for an hour or so, she might, or she might not.

Raining now......

I hope you PT went ok today? I get regular massages, but I cannot tolerate any deep muscle massage with my fibro. Hope it does help you!
I’m d-e-a-d. New site/new therapist. Massage is now off the table. Had me doing two different sort of planks and squats.

Said I wasn’t “getting down” :p Enough, so had me set on this cheater ball, the size of a playground kick ball. Big whoop. I’ll go with the program, if i can still move tomorrow.

Only planks I like are chicken lol
Sometimes life gets busy on top of not feeling quite like myself for a while. I blame that long, long car trip with starting it all
Sorry to hear that, maybe the warm(er) weather will set things right for you
Little ones dont' look too scary bu Mama could be around.
Absolutely. Bears are nothing to mess with IMO. Surprising how much damage a cornered deer can wreak too
Surprised the DW with a stop on Lookout mt and Rock City Gardens. At a snail's pace in Atlanta rn. Where's the closest Buc-eees?🤣🤣🤣
I need to google. Oh, don’t mention Buc-eees, pleees. I’ve been getting umpteen hints to take a “long-cut” from MCO to hit it up in Daytona. Just say no

🤣🤣🤣 With Rock City Gardens and Ruby Falls, there's an easy day trip+ worth of stuff to do.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing Junkie. Beautiful mountain scenes there.

Ack, Keisha, what a workout at your PT. Hope you are feeling good today.

Commuting. Well at least in the early morning, it’s not too bad. Time of year, we get that view of a medium pink horizon as I drove East, and got a nice view of it as I stopped for the light at the top of a hill, to go through the little borough, to get to the road that leads into to the city. Four of us into the complex, quick parking in favorite spot, then booted up fast. Quiet office I get until another hour.

What is that beeping? Oh flat bed truck backing up in the business next to us. I get to see the traffic out my window every day I’m in the office. Glad I do have a window though, not all our offices do.

And the thought today? Yay, a Taco 🌮 Tuesday is here, and good time to stop at not a Buc’ee’s, but a Taco Bell or other taco making place. We don’t have that fast stop place nor a Sheetz near us either. We do, have more than a few Wawa’s within a 10 or so minute drive. And, for today, not really any close Taco Bell’s, too. Though they are both in the areas we go to, but mostly in the weekends.

So, a wish for a Terrific Taco Tuesday today, and yay, mid week is already tomorrow, and the heat is coming, as 74 the high today, then into the 80’s and even a 91 high on Friday. Woot! Summer season coming sooner than later this month.

Oh and good morning. Hehe, news showed those black bears doing their best wrestling, standing 7 feet high, weighing 500 pounds or more. Rutting season, so time of year will see those bears around more. We have black and brown ones. Haven’t seen one in my neighborhood, but have been seen in the neighborhood’s not that far from me, and once at my sister’s place. At her place, we see more deer than any other animal. We still secure our trash though. Those raccoons can make a huge mess of your trash.

Good Tuesday morning everyone :wave2:

Thanks. Just back from another meet. Again, 1st in triple & 800 m, 4th in long jump. 400 & 800 b2b, so she skipped it this week as trying to set another PR on it. Next weekend nationals in Phillie.
Congratulations to your granddaughter on her wins.

She is definitely refunding the money to the client. The client was trying to come up with sneaky ways to give it back to her, but the therapist said no. The client will either keep her refund or donate to charity.
Sounds like the best plan.

Only going to be 62 degrees tomorrow, will have a 30 degree bump by the end of the week. Laughingly, it may be warmer here on the 16th and what we will find in Orlando. I’m betting the humidity there will make it feel twice as hot tho lol
The weather this start to the summer around here has been strange too. It’s been hot in Florida. Will be a little adjustment with the heat and humidity.

It was so nice of you to donate blood Carole. Sorry to hear you had a spell after. It can happen. Good to hear all is well.

I used to be able to donate blood in my early 20’s then started having issues with anemia so I could not donate anymore. I take B12 to keep my hemoglobin elevated in normal limits.

I’am thankful there are folks like you who do donate.

I have been absent for a while but am back on track:)
Good to have you back Ruth.

We had a small bear show up again last evening. It looks to be around one year old and was probably kicked out of the den by its mother. We've chased it away twice now because it was trying to get into the bird feeders. Now we have to stop feeding the birds for a while. Our garbage cans are put away too. Little ones dont' look too scary bu Mama could be around.
Yes, those bears are cute, but sadly dangerous. You never know if the Mama Bear is near by and she will pounce for sure to protect here own.

I remember hubby and I stopped in the Smokies to do a walk and there were two bear cubs on the path from the parking area. We saw two couples approaching the cubs to take pictures. We told them to stop and not approach the cubs as the Mama Bear would not be far away and she would attack them if she saw them near her cubs. We went back to the parking lot where our car was. Don’t know if they listened or not as we left.

It seems the first line of my post just magically disappeared???? I just said high to everyone or something like that. I don't know if something is wrong with my laptop or not, but a lot of things are acting "funny" when I am online.
I was having issues with typing on the Dis the other day. It would just stop. Then I left the site and was having no problems. So I think it might be the Dis.

Looking forward to taking Louisa shopping tomorrow, she likes to go to two stores, so I have my orders of which one first. Will see if she wants to go and visit a farm store or garden centre for an hour or so, she might, or she might not.

I hope you had a nice time with Louisa. She sounds like she is living life to hits fullest at her advanced age. It is so nice that she has you and your other friends to get her out for her shopping.

So good to have you back on the Sans you were missed.

Janet sounds like you are having intense PT. Hope all goes well for you.

Mac hope your eyes are doing well after your procedures.

It is only 52 this morning. Strange weather indeed for June the 11th. We are always warmer than this during this time of the year. Will warm up to upper 70’s this afternoon.

We received an email that there was a gator sighting in one of the little lakes in our community in Florida. It said they have contacted the proper authorities to have it trapped and removed. Of course it is in the one that runs behind our home….LOL
I have heard of others being in the neighborhood, but have never seen them.

I’am watching sweet little J for half day today. We went to the kids water splash park on Friday and he loved it. We will see how quickly the day warms up. If we can’t go today always another time.

It is

Need to get going this morning. Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.
