robbie - good to hear both your mr & DS are doing well. Love the rocket pic

pumpkin - i’m the opposite, a good thing we live a 5 hour flight from Vegas. It’s the perfect stop over for us to spend a day or two when heading west. Glad to hear you enjoyed the race.

lynne - did the kids like the Mario movie? Thinking the Oscar winning movie right up my alley, enjoy sci fi sorts. Hopefully, will be on one of the steaming sooner vs later. Puss & boots surprised me, wasn’t a fan of last one.

charade - all better now? Spring break right around the corner for you & your DD. Any plans?

The gremlins were at it again

i’m thinking maybe I haven’t had ’the right’ naan bread or toppings. Indian food doesn’t set well with me. Now, ice cream, that’s another story.

First thing I ate after recent bug…mint oreo cookies. Can’t say I’m usually a big fan of that brand, something about that variety tho.

I am not very picky when it comes to ice cream. Generally, do prefer the hard pack, high fat sort. Surprised how much I enjoy one of the tasty twist franchises in Orlando for the soft serve in one of those chocolate dipped cones with sprinkles :).

Happy Birthday to your lovely mum

Keisha, I' m with you with the mint oreos and hard packed ice cream which is high in fat!!! Yea!
I just love desserts of most kinds.

Awww.....glad you`re doing better now!! Last time I had a tummy bug I put on 4lbs!!!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for mum......love the meme!! Yes, sometimes she does dance and behave like an 18 year old......and we love it!!

I think tempting them with gin or wine might work better than cookies......lol.....I`m still working on them joining!!

We love Indian food, after Chinese I`d say it was our favourite takeout/eatout.....wait....there`s Thai too.....well, it`s in the top 3! Yes, it`s not for everyone and I must admit when we had Indian food in America, it wasn`t as good as we expected, maybe you just need to come to the UK to try the best :)

Good ice cream is a treat indeed! And still take it easy till you`re fully over it...... ::yes::

Keisha, I' m with you with the mint oreos and hard packed ice cream which is high in fat!!! Yea!

High fat ice cream yes......mint anything.......noooooooooo!! lol....

Never enjoyed any mint flavour on anything. The niece I am closest too and is like me in so many ways, well....her favourite ice cream is mint choc chip and I only found out about 10 years ago......told her she had gone down in my estimation.....lol......

And a lovely Friday morning here and we`ll be in the mid 60`sF which will be lovely after the last few weeks and the sun is shining so that helps too.

Nothing much planned for today at all, going to be a quiet one for us, might try a walk this morning as it`s so mild, but we`ll see. Food is sorted for the day, breakfast is simple with toast and preserves, lunch will be roast beef with salad and dinner is spicy pork fillet with stir fried noodles and some chinese veg.

Got 2 cards to post today for birthdays on Monday, that`s about the sum of our day today.

But it`s the weekend and we`re out tomorrow night for dinner, so we`re looking forward to that.

It`s Friday, Have fun!!

Ooh that Friday feeling. After a nice hot shower, always up that early hour. At least a little earlier stop with week day routine. And a bit longer lunch break, so a little longer walk should be nice for lunchtime.

Weather. Said maybe some rain, but a peek out the door, and it’s very dark and overcast. But early weather news saying rain chance coming soon, with a light rain. Then a very overcast day, though saying most of the rest of the day, dry for much of viewing area. At least most won’t see that rain, though DH and I will soon, if news is right. And happy should see our high temp of 62 in the late afternoon. Though with the rain coming, the wind is picking up, making it feel cooler out there now. And if I was out feeling that wind, yeah could feel like rain coming. But so little rain, I assume most may just look damp for awhile. Saying a very light rain, to end within the hour.

No matter, enjoying my tea right now. And screen. And with this early hour, quiet enough, so today, I hear some road traffic, the train whistle, and two very loud airplanes so far, since I’ve been up. Birds don’t start until closer to sunrise. At least hear none yet.

Thus, most Fabulous Friday to all. And glad Keisha is feeling better. Stomach bugs are no fun at all.

Oh and hope all will have, or having a good morning.

Happy Friday and St. Patrick’s Day. I think I will spend most of today cleaning a very neglected house. Right now we have a plumber here taking care of a few small issues.

Asked her about graduation, said University has not said anything yet about buying, renting or given to be returned gowns.
That surprises me. We have had our gowns for several weeks. I purchased as soon as they became available. I’ve also ordered custom cap toppers. B’s just arrived in the mail a few minutes ago.
Never enjoyed any mint flavour on anything.
I’m not a fan of mint either. B loves chocolate with mint.

I’m waiting for the water to get turned back on so I can continue to clean.

I was born for this stuff :duck: Actually, like many here, a mutt with feet in both camps today. I go with the flow day to day, whichever side is having a Celebration.

Are you…
2CB449C1-6E20-4436-AC7C-532890726A0F.jpeg Corned beef, taters, carrots & cabbage simmering away in the crock. Going to pray my limping along oven will cooperate to cook soda bread. I did see a recipe for air fryer one, might roll the dice & try that one.

ok, I’m done, for now :rolleyes1

should hit mid-50’s, a solid drizzle, think I just heard thunder in the distance. Maybe it will keep the drunks home today:rotfl2:

Exciting to hear the soon to be grads here will be soon heading out to conquer the world. Anyone going directly to grad school? Jr skipped it, his employer has been at him to go back while working, on their dime. I’d jump, however, he says he’s pacing himself lol. Does work long hours with the recent promo. I (usually) manage to bite my tongue with that free and accurate advice once they are adults and on their own two feet.

Right now we have a plumber here taking care of a few small issues.
Reminds me, keep forgetting to notify my plumber aka the mr, that the kitchen sink faucet is starting to leak. way too soon, just put it in last year & picked a fancy one. I’m sure he can give it a strong talking to and fix the issue. will say, the whole washerless fitting sort of faucets are a big racket in my book.

One of my brothers loves those thin mints, so we all get him a box in with his Christmas stuff......I hate the smell of them too, just not a fan.

lol.....you make me laugh!!!

It`s funny we don`t know a single person who celebrates St Paddy`s Day or even mention it.......just not our thing at all, but then we don`t celebrate any of the UK Saints either......yes, feet in both camps over here too but we`re definitely blue!

You have a tap problem with the new sink?? I love you have your own personal plumber......you husband is a complete star!!!

Glad you`re doing better and hope the food is good!! We have none of those items in our home......lol.......well, wait....I do have carrots, but they`ll be honey glazed! Enjoy though 🥰

Went to get my eyebrows waxed this afternoon, not sure I`d go back to this gal again, she was talking non stop.....I mean non stop, I was exhausted when I came out of her salon....wouldn`t mind but it was quite inane drivel. I`d rather someone not just drone on, I can live with silence.

Quite pleased with the eyebrows though, wanted them tidy for dinner out tomorrow night.

Mum got her flowers and said they were beautiful and had to split them between two vases, my sister will send me a picture when she gets over tomorrow to see her.

Although we had beautiful sunshine all day, we had two weird heavy downpours all while the sun kept shining. Nice and mild though, most of the windows have been open today which is nice and washing should be able to get hung out soon.

Yep, time for a pot of tea........maybe a scone too.

Good Friday afternoon everyone

Good to hear your son is doing so well, he sounds a little like Kyle who was happy in his old job but it`s nearly a year since he was offered the job he has now with a firm of Financial Advisors, he`s never been happier, long may they both feel the same way. And fabulous your husband went through his surgery today and did well, must be a big relief for you, hope he rests well tonight and has a good sleep, and you too of course.
Thank you Carole. It is good to hear our boys have found the jobs they enjoy for sure.

Hubby is doing good post eye surgery. Thankfully he usually sleeps well.

robbie - good to hear both your mr & DS are doing well. Love the rocket pic
Thank you Janet. Hope you and your hubby are doing well.

Hubby had his post op eye assessment visit this morning and all was well. Will see doc again in 2 weeks for another assessment.

No St. Patrick’s Day celebrating here. Hubby does not like corn beef and cabbage. Local stores do have good supply of corn beef and cabbage for those that cook it to buy.

Many moons ago when son was young I would make corn beef and cabbage, boiled potatoes and soda bread and make a shamrock cake etc..on St Patricks Day. Neither son or hubby liked it and they didn’t tell me until years later…LOL. I always tried to make fun meals for son on certain days celebrated on the calendar like St. Patrick’s, Valentine’s Day etc….Funny thing is I didn’t care for corn beef and cabbage either was just making it for something different to celebrate the day.

Our HOA here in our community is having a St. Patrick’s Day dinner today. My friend asked me if we were going weeks ago and I told her no.

It is supposed to be warmer today. High of 82.

Made a light lunch after we returned from hubby‘s doc appt. He is napping in his chair now.

I think I will take my Stephen King book and a nice iced drink to the pool and enjoy the sunshine.

Another Spaceship going up this evening. Will see if I can see it. We do have some cloud cover today.

Have a wonderful day everyone doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

Glad to hear DH is doing well with his eyes, Robo. Would like to have that warm of weather. Most likely not until June here. We have a huge part of the city that is Irish, so there is a parade today for celebrating this green holiday. Yeah, I never cooked cabbage nor corned beef, Though have bought corned beef from a Jewish deli. That with coleslaw is my kinda sandwich.

Was a nice lunchtime walk. Went down to the little village that is down the street from us, and walked the main drag there. It’s not long, only about 5 or 6 blocks. Ended up at the Italian hoagie place I knew from when I worked in a different part of the city, that opened up their store in my little village. We had them make little one and I a hoagie. Yum, mine was Italian, hers was turkey. Back, and made more tea for me. Little one drove the to coffee place a few minutes from us. So both of us are now full and enjoying a beverage.

Great looking shirts Charade.

Good Friday afternoon everyone

Glad to hear your DH check up went well Robbie, long may it continue.

Sounds a lovely way to spend the afternoon, pool and a book and hope you get to see the take off tonight too.

I love stir fried Savoy cabbage, you don`t cook it for 3 weeks the way my grandma would cook it, it`s light and not too cabbage tasting, it`s lovely stir fried quickly with bacon and either leeks or onion. Corned beef is not the same thing over here, it is gross!!!

I think boiled ham is more traditional a dish for today for the Irish, but corned beef seems to have become the main option.

But, no celebrations from us today, although I think Keisha is one hell of a good cook so I would be tempted if I was there!!

Have a lovely weekend......

Love the purple colour.....but then I`d always opt for purple!!

Five o clock........tea out the window now......

Time for a small adult libation. 🍸

Ooh almost the weekend. I’m tired, kids are not. Can hear both having at least one screen on, with little one talking to her online friends. I know one lives on the western coast of Canada, so her friend is only mid evening, not close to midnight like we are. Sigh. To be young. This old mom is not used to being up so late.

Hope all have a very good night sleep.

Nice to see Lynne made it to midnight
She is usually asleep before it’s this late

And a good Saturday morning from a mild but dull UK, it does look as though it`ll brighten up though.

Time to start hanging washing back out on the lines now as it`s much nicer now, nothing beats washing dried fresh on the line, although I do love my dryer, it`s just nicer.

My tea this morning is a Christmas gift from some friends, a company called Newby London, never tried their teas before yesterday, it is lovely and we`ll use this one sparingly I think! But, Tom is making us Eggs Benedict later with bacon although I`ll be making the sauce as he hasn`t quite mastered that art yet.

Light lunch if we bother after a large breakfast, and dinner out tonight at one of our favourite pubs, and Kyle is coming with us and just the three of us tonight which will be nice, we always have the same table when it`s just us, right beside their wood burner. We used to prefer sitting beside their real fire on the opposite side of the restaurant, but they started leaving the door to the bar open and it can get draughty, so we switched. It`s a very cosy and warm place to visit and food is outstanding.

So, a day of not doing too much......will enjoy getting ready this afternoon though doing hair and make up with a glass of something........

Have a wonderful Saturday and weekend :-)

Ah, nothing like a kid coming up to say, he’s feeling too hot, can he turn the thermostat down. This was at 3:15 am. I said you could have done it without asking me. Then, since he was up, I heard him in the shower. Asked him if he was going to bed after. He was, and he did. Me? Ah could not get back to sleep. So been dodging infomercials, and trying to find a rerun show I haven’t seen yet. Somewhat successful. So what do I do? Go with DH to Wawa and he gets coffee and I get a sandwich. Then we both took long hot showers. Me first though. Hehe, we have a water tank, so have to wait about 20 or so minutes for the hot water heater to heat the water hot, after being emptied. But this early hour is the time DH and I enjoy time with each other, and enjoy the quiet.

But yay, no alarm to wake us up. Well, we do still have noisy kids, even if they are full adults. I am not a good sleeper. But usually when I hear an interruption to my sleep, I go back to sleep. But sometime nope. But to be fair, I’m am more an early riser, no matter alarm or noise to wake me up in the early pre dawn hours.

Ah the weekend is here. Yay for that. Weather news this early morning said will be a nice weekend. In the 50’s today, with the mostly cloudy day, but a cool weather high is coming in the wee hours of tonight. Glorious sunny Sunday, but yeah, clear sky? Over 10 degree lower degree high on Sunday. Eh, time of year, our March usually feels like the last month we see more winter like temps. And chances of snow. But as we get closer to the first day of Spring soon, this Tuesday at dinnertime is when I think is when Spring arrives here. Should see more higher, high degree days, for so nice Spring warm afternoons. But as said earlier. We have seen snow in early April, when Easter is early like this year. Hope this Easter is warm. Though many times an early Easter is still with a warm jacket worn to any Easter dinners out.

And Schumi to enjoy that family dinner in favored pub. Sounds very nice.

And yep, in the late Spring and Summer, I like hanging wash out. Prefer it, but do use the dryer for most of my linens, and some clothes, through hang inside most of the clothes if not able to do so outside. Will be doing some wash later today. Not much on our agenda today. As it should be on a weekend. And have to send some well wishes to my sister. She was not feeling well yesterday, so have to call her today, to see what bug or virus got her sick. So doubt we will visit her this weekend. As I do try to stop by on the weekends for a coffee visit and chat.

Ooh more tea for me, Ahh I really like these early hours. So a good morning wish to all as well.

Finally, I hope all have a most lovely, relaxing, super happy Saturday.

Well, the annual Irish dinner was a hit. I’ve my fix of that for a year. Well, will freeze the leftover meat & use for Reuben sandwiches down the road.

No Jewish deli near us for the bread, one of the local grocer’s versions is passable for that perfect. I heartedly don’t recommend baking in an air fryer. Soda bread was edible but, just not right texture…too moist...opposed to Finnegan’s which is the most tasteless, dry version out there IMO. I sound like goldilocks lol

dinner tonight is still a mystery. Really don’t want to grill steaks when it’s barely 30 degrees & a brisk, biting wind. Just got a warning on weather app for white out snow squalls. Um, the sun is shining?

think I will take my Stephen King book and a nice iced drink to the pool and enjoy the sunshine.
That sounds heavenly. What book are you enjoying? I have a few of his back logged here. Broke down and picked up a few via kindle, to specifically avoid hauling books when traveling this summer
This old mom is not used to being up so late.
this time change has been biting me. Up later & sleeping in, usually have the hang of it within a week. Slow to the party this year.

We bought some different sort of HW tank last go-round. not sure how it works but, a rapid fire sort of thing where we (knock on wood) have yet to run out of hot water even if several sequential showers. If anything it runs too hot. Have temp turned way down as running hot often feels near boiling if not. Feast or famine

my middle DS has been staying here, he is so noisy at night I’ve taken to running a small fan in my BR. I really wanted to like the white noise machine I picked up, nope, couldn’t settle upon a sound that lulled me to sleep…

thunder the worst (real stuff makes me anxious), the beach one (I’d mentally start to plan a trip); the babbling brook would result in an extra trip to the bathroom.
Tom is making us Eggs Benedict later with bacon although I`ll be making the sauce as he hasn`t quite mastered that art yet.
Yum, I’m in Tom’s camp there, also of the can’t make a decent Benedict sauce. No problem with delicate white sauces etc, that one, nope.

enjoy dinner out tonight!

We were just talking about you.......:listen:

We`ve just popped in the DVD of Hold That Ghost with Abbott and Costello and I mentioned you were one of the few that appreciated them too!

I`d love a white noise machine, but Tom couldn`t stand them......but he did remind me I don`t need one as I sleep like a rock every night anyway and it is so quiet around us, but I like the idea.....:-)

Oh you`d have giggled at his sauce the one time he tried....you could have laid bricks with it!!! Er, no darling I`ll make it next time......lol....

We have a condensing boiler Janet, constant hot water and it’s endless, we don’t have a hot water tank thank goodness, ….I still remember the days as a kid waiting for the water to heat up…..seems crazy now in this day and age.

Thanks, looking forward to it, glad your food was such a success, Reubens are always nice! Enjoy the rest of your day and weekend……and hope dinner is good, nah, I wouldn’t be outside either like a lemon in that weather!!!

So, watching an old Abbott and Costello movie…….love the old classic black and whites on a Saturday afternoon.

Tom just made us a cocktail……as Kyle is coming with us, he’s driving us tonight, so a large rum mule was his choice…..he even got the lime squeezer out and added extra to mine…..

That’ll be our one and only till we get to the restaurant……it’s quite refreshing actually, although he does make em strong!

Will go up later to get showered again, hair and make up and then out…….

Perfect Saturday…….:) :) :)

Me ears are burning :rotfl2: Yes, i love Abbott & Costello, the monster ones (especially Frankenstein) my favs. need to look for the haunted house/ghost one. Haven’t seen it in ages.

Ruth - when in Sams club earlier, saw this and thot of you.9CED9EA2-10E5-45A9-914B-77CE1360A5EF.jpeg Never heard of it before, didn’t grab it, might, if only to sprinkle in my coffee for a quick fix. tried the GS thin mint Kcups a few years ago, didn’t quite capture the taste.

Steaks on the grill it will be, at least it stopped snowing. marinating, as all they had were those thick sirloin ones that look suspiciously like a chopped up roast They are tasty enough if you beat them down. 🔨
