Something About Nothing............ #14

Pumpkin, Hope the workplace improves for you soon and mindless tv is sometimes good in the evenings. Yes, I’m making the most of this winter‘s coats and boots before the spring appears!

Hope the hairdressing went well.....I cut Tom`s hair, well, I say cut...it`s an allover with the clippers too, he`s been mainly bald for years so doesn`t take long.

Yesterday ended up being one of those wonderful days we just all hung around together after lunch and lunch ended up being in one of our favourite pubs where everything is cooked from scratch, nothing is frozen. I was surprised it wasn’t the pizza place, but seems it’s closed down in the last week!

So table for 8 beside their real fire which was lovely today as it was very cold even though the sun was shining all day, it was beautiful, as was the food, we had a smashing time and sat through in their lounge for a couple of hours afterwards then headed to one of our friends homes and stayed till about 9pm chatting the day away. Prosecco was flowing 🥰

Slept like a rock as always and woke up to heavy rain this morning again, I wonder if we`ll ever get our lawns cut with all this rain. Very windy again this morning to add to the miserable weather.

But, out this morning, decided to go and replace all or most of my baking trays and pie tins, time to freshen them up I think, so will have a shopping spree for them, not the most glamorous thing to shop for but feel like a change.

The rest of the day not much, will call mum first thing as always after breakfast, she`s another who doesn`t sleep late in the morning but she`ll have a day of visitors and getting taken out for lunch by one of my uncles and my sister and brother in law are going too, so she`ll have a lovely day, she is fabulous for a turning 88 year old lady.

Time for my pot of tea........

Have a wonderful Thursday :-)

Nice to refresh kitchen items, Schumi, and how lovely s lunch at the pub.

Commute was fast, got my favorite parking spot, and only longer taking is office scan. Oh well. And of course, minutes after logging on, updates required, closing apps. Eh, I let it go as I got my hot tea. But must not have been that big of an update, as no reboot was needed. And it’s very quiet in this early hour. Only a very few are in before start time.

And a warmer day, and to see the sun all day, so brought my shades. Will certainly do my lunchtime walk, as should be nice out. But no matter, this warmer weather won’t be long. Back into the low 40’s by the start of next week. And a rainy Friday, with a rainy early Saturday. But Sunday should be clear, and a mostly dry next week. Next chance of rain is next Friday. Hmm, rainy Friday pattern? Eh, April showers bring May flowers. Guess March is taking part, with cool rain so far. But hey, we have seen snow in April before, so I’m glad the snow totals this Winter so far, are .03 inches. Yep, as minimal as could almost possibly be. One of the warmest winters we have had, in many years. Thanks to La Niña and the Arctic weather staying as well, in the Arctic. While the meteorological winter ended at the end of February, with March having lots of 40’s and some 30’s high degrees so far, still feels more like winter weather has not ended yet.

But today, that wind is blowing from the South, still keeping the skies so clear. Ooh, the moon was almost a crescent this morning. Skies and roads were clear this morning. And 60 degrees the high today. Probably will carry my winter jacket I had in this morning when I go home. Was close to freezing when I left.

So hope Robo’s DH eye surgery goes most perfect today. Sending good thoughts his way.

Time to refill that cup I drink my tea in. Ah, must be a Thirsty Thursday. Thus, hope all enjoy a beverage or two today, including water. So good to be hydrated enough you aren’t thirsty. Hope all enjoy this Thirsty Thursday, sipping, gulping or just drinking a beverage. Like tea. LoL

Schumi, I am sure your family will send you pictures of your Mum’s celebration today.

Her day will be smiles all day long.

Quick early morning stop in before the papers hit my desk. Yes, hopefully some winds of change happen here soon, It has been a long time coming, but the wheels I believe are in motion. So now we wait to see what happens. My gut is telling me, it will all work out - so I'm trusting my gut today.

It was a quiet night again. I did a little sewing again last night. The haircut didn't happen. Dh was tired, once I was finished my part of the dinner dishes. I gave youngest ds a break and did his part. He was working out of town and is still getting used to the more physical part of his job - he was a tired boy after hauling in lots of material for the job they are doing. You gotta love being the green one on the team...you get stuck with those jobs :rotfl: He took it all i stride....but boy he was tuckered out.

It's still cold here :furious:  I thought it was supposed to warm up over night. Hopefully it gets to the temperatures that were forecasted for the day. We at least have bright sunny skies though today.

What do ya do with a clear sky, and was still 40 degrees at our late dinner time? We used our grill, and grilled fresh steaks we bought this afternoon. Sautéed peppers and tomatoes on the grill, some whites rice cooked in the pot, and yum. Dinner served. And was thankful still had propane in the tank. Yep, we never winter our grill. We use it year round.
We don't use ours in the colder parts of winter...but if the forecast is correct for this weekend, I can see us tossing on some juicy steaks for a good steak dinner one night.

That sounds like it was a great and perfect way to spend the day!

I hope you find the bakeware you are looking for. I'm at that point too. When I find what I'm looking for, into the the cart it goes. :rolleyes1 Some things I have are 20+ years old now...it's time to replace some of it now.

Happy Birthday to you Mom! I hope she has a great day celebrating with friends and family. It is hard to live farther away from family for those celebratory days.

It has DEFINTELY been an La Nina year here. We had our March Temps in Jan and Jan temps in Feb/March ::yes:: Hopefully spring doesn't take too long to arrive. I am craving to see green grass and leaves on the trees.

@Robo56 I am sending lots of mummy dust that your dh's surgery goes well today.

Well, I should go hunt down some papers. My tea is almost gone now.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Schumi, I am sure your family will send you pictures of your Mum’s celebration today.

Her day will be smiles all day long.

Thank you mac. We did Facetime her while she was still at the restaurant, once they had eaten of course, so it was lovely to see them all, we`ll Facetime on Sunday too for Mother`s Day, always nice to see them all.

I did get some lovely bakeware eventually. I got a mix of some normal everyday ones and also picked up some higher end ones that will last, but it`s nice to change things up so I will change them too.

Thank you for mum`s good wishes, yes, it`s not easy being so far away at times, but Facetime is the next best thing. This time last year we were up there....that was the visit I left my suitcase on our bed and didn`t realise till we got to the hotel.....lol....had to go buy new clothes for 3 days!! One of my brothers said it was deliberate.......he would say that!!

Hope your weather gets better too, we`re not as bad as you, but still getting frost and occasional snow flurries....it should be daffodil and spring flowers instead of grey skies and drizzle!! Enjoy that tea......

Enjoyed some shopping for household things and bits and bobs, stopped in for some lunch in town, just a sandwich so will be ready for dinner later tonight, doing maple bacon chicken breasts, parmentier potatoes and honey roast parnips.

Got all the kitchen stuff washed and put away, I did clear out the older stuff instead of keeping it...."just in case" I`m all for clearouts when needs be.

Quick check in before lunch. I went back to work yesterday. I’m still a little tired and have a lingering cough, but otherwise feeling okay. Thankfully today is slow. One of our therapists is off today.

I really don’t have anything interesting to write about. I have spent a lot of tome on Etsy lately buying some things for graduation and our trip. That place is dangerous.

@Charade67 It's good you are starting to feel better. It seems like that flu has knocked everyone down for the count for longer than usual. It might be because we have all been cold/flu free for the last 3 years.

Yes!!!!! Etsy is a dangerous place to shop!

Well we did have snow and hail stones this afternoon for a couple of hours, it was quite nice to watch it for a while, then it was enough.

Tonight will be a very chilly one with a cold morning, but will just be above freezing, and sun will be shining so it’ll be pleasant to be out in. No idea what we’re doing yet, but we’ll get up to something I’m sure.

Chicken curry was lush tonight! Ideal for a winter’s day, made a naan bread to share and it turned out better than my naan breads usually do. Stuffed it with brown sugar, coconuts and sultanas like the Peshwari Naan from Indian restaurants, I’ll make that one again.

Snoozed for half an hour after dinner, the phone ringing woke me up, felt as if I’d been asleep for a month!

Some tv for us tonight then an early bed I think.
Your Naan bread sounds absolutely delicious! I love anything bread! It's one of my favorites and I have no control around it. (That and ice cream:)
You had hail and we had ice and then snow, which it's now doing. I had a massage and am now eating lunch and checking out the disboards. Have a good day:)

Well, I am watching a little YouTube for some new recipes. Ugh...I found so many I want to make...now to try to healthen them up a little bit. Especially since dh and I agreed to starting to eat healthier again :rolleyes1 :scratchin

What type of foods does your family like pumpkin?
Do you all prefer meats, chicken, liver, turkey, for the main dish?
At times, we do meatless meals for a change.

I always have a salad made before our main meal.

Once a week no chicken, red meat, fish but pasta meal for Mr Mac
I don’t eat pasta so I fix tuna for myself.

I’d try new recipes, most likely older one would eat, little one on the other hand…. So I generally stick with what she likes to eat.

Late happy birthday to Schumi’s mum.

Latency issues most of the day. Thankfully, my laptop did not have such issues. But it did have two more updates, one of which I had to reboot. It’s that last hour of let me outta here. So sunny.

Went for a walk at lunchtime. It was nice and very sunny, but was glad I wore my jacket. Zipped it up, which I rarely do, as was much cooler than I expected.

Ah, as the sun is pouring through my windows, yeah you know the pooped on ones, from these starlings:
99E14AE6-D9B4-42C1-9B42-A5A0F66D7AC2.jpeg

Yeah you crappy birds. Why my building decided to put those metal pieces jutting out above my windows, I guess for weather? Perfect bird perches though.

Sigh. City. If it was those pigeons, that we call winged rats, I guess bigger poop?

Okay, enough potty talk. At least 1/2 hour left now. The drive out of the city, particularly when school is in session, is twice as long as it could be. Well when you have a light at every block, until I get to the city limits, 8 miles takes 40 minutes, or more if you get stuck behind a bus.

Ooh, and:

Woot!

Good Thursday afternoon everyone

I’m staying home again today. Still not sleeping wel
Charade I hope you get well soon.

Glad to hear your boy is doing better and back to work, it must be nice for him to get back to feeling normal and back to work again.
Thank you Carole. He said the pain is way better than what it was. Finger’s crossed things will heal up totally so he can avoid surgery. He really liked his previous job, but this new one is really what he had been hoping for for awhile.

Unfortunately your 8.30pm is our 12.30am, so I`ll be out for the count when it takes off. There are a couple more coming up at different times, so we`ll catch them.
I did get out in the yard to take a look. There was some clouds, but was able to get a nice view.

I always take a couple of photos that SpaceX is showing on their site for pre and post take off too.

Lost it after a couple of minutes when it went behind the clouds.

Hope the back is better.....mine is lower back usually, stretches usually help keep it at bay, but sometimes it takes time and a lot of pain relief!!! And good wishes for this Thursday for your husband, hope it goes as well as the first one.
Strangely I have had flare ups with my Thoracic spine just last few years. It comes and goes. That is what the issue is right now. My main back issues have always been the lumbar sacral region. I have had that for years. I have exercises that I do that help too, but sometimes stopping and resting and taking steroids and a short round of pain meds is all that will work. I don‘t like sitting still…..I think that is more frustrating.

Thank you for your good wishes for hubby.

I hope your knee is doing better.

Very jealous of your warmer weather........we`re getting an arctic wind from today for a few days, I can see the cloud direction has already changed and is coming in from the NE now ......translates to bliddy freezing!!!
Sorry to hear you are still so cold over there with your weather. I would send you some Florida sun and warmth if possible. You will be here soon.

Hehe, saw in the early news this morning, a restaurant not that far from us, has a flight of pasta, not beer or wine. Over 3.5 pounds of three kinds of pasta. Maybe a road trip for little one. She’s a pasta and noodle aficionado.
Wow…Thats a lot of pasta.

Robbie, I hope your husband’s eye surgery goes fine on Thursday.
Sending Mummy Dust it all goes smooth.
Thank you Mac. He did well.

Hope the hairdressing went well.....I cut Tom`s hair, well, I say cut...it`s an allover with the clippers too, he`s been mainly bald for years so doesn`t take long.
Being bald is the fashion with the fella‘s now. Even the young ones are shaving their heads. So Tom is in style without trying.

Thank you Pumpkin.

doing maple bacon chicken breasts, parmentier potatoes and honey roast parnips.
Sounds like a yummy dinner.

Hubby had his second cataract surgery this morning. All went well. Thank you all for your well wishes for him.

We were on our way home and he wanted to go through Burger King for a burger. So I stopped and got his burger of choice. I got him settled when we got home. He was a happy camper with his burger meal.

I got him to lay down for a nap. The IV meds they give for procedure make you a tad sleepy after.

He says he cannot see anything much out of his op eye. This is according to him the same as last time. He has a follow up in the morning with the eye surgeon.

My friends have family in for visits. Both have grandchildren so I made some cookies for them. They both brought their grandchildren by for a visit. That was so sweet of them. I gave them lots of cookies and they were happy to have them.

We were cooler yesterday, but temps back up today in the low 70’s. Sun is shining nicely.

We did finally get the rain we needed. We did get a down downpour Tuesday and a little rain yesterday, but we are still short on rain.

Have a wonderful day everyone doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

It certainly is, when I had a flu then cold back in November it lasted 6 weeks, and everyone that got it said the same thing and we all agreed Covid was easier to get over than that flu.

It is delicious and goes perfectly with my curry. I`m not the biggest bread fan unless it`s home made, same with ice cream. I do like Haagen Daaz and some very Scottish ice creams when we go home, but home made is a delight.

Glad you enjoyed your massage and your lunch too!! Hope your snow deosn`t last too long.

Charade I hope you get well soon.

Thank you for mum`s birthday wishes, love the gifs!!! She is a special lady indeed, tiny little lady but has the soul and spirit of an amazon! We are very lucky she is still healthy and her mind is still as sharp as a bacon slicer. 88 is indeed wonderful.

Glad you got to see the take off. It must be lovely living so close.

Yes, sitting still is not fun, but sometimes it`s what the back needs to recover, very frustrating I know.

lol....I think I bake more now than I ever did before, Kyle`s co-workers do enjoy a treat every few weeks, but we do a lot of church bake sales for various charities, so it`s nice to be able to help out where we can. I always said I was never very good at baking, I think I`m a better cook than a baker, but I am getting much better. One of my friends who is a spectacular baker said she`d give me 6/10 now, room for improvement I think.....:) I do like my new bits and bobs.

Good to hear your son is doing so well, he sounds a little like Kyle who was happy in his old job but it`s nearly a year since he was offered the job he has now with a firm of Financial Advisors, he`s never been happier, long may they both feel the same way. And fabulous your husband went through his surgery today and did well, must be a big relief for you, hope he rests well tonight and has a good sleep, and you too of course.

Not long finished dinner, we had it a little later as lunch was later, it was lovely though, maybe a little too sweet, but I can adjust next time to suit.

Much milder temps coming through now for us, mid to high 60`s for the next week or so and it does feel much milder, finally! Might be able to get rid of the winter clobber before too long.

Roll on spring........:sunny:

robbie - good to hear both your mr & DS are doing well. Love the rocket pic

pumpkin - i’m the opposite, a good thing we live a 5 hour flight from Vegas. It’s the perfect stop over for us to spend a day or two when heading west. Glad to hear you enjoyed the race.

lynne - did the kids like the Mario movie? Thinking the Oscar winning movie right up my alley, enjoy sci fi sorts. Hopefully, will be on one of the steaming sooner vs later. Puss & boots surprised me, wasn’t a fan of last one.

charade - all better now? Spring break right around the corner for you & your DD. Any plans?

Come on Sue and Felicity.......sign up!!!

I was up late last night posting
woke up late this morning and i see i hit a wrong button and all that i wrote to many peeps….., guess it disappeared
The gremlins were at it again

i’m thinking maybe I haven’t had ’the right’ naan bread or toppings. Indian food doesn’t set well with me. Now, ice cream, that’s another story.

First thing I ate after recent bug…mint oreo cookies. Can’t say I’m usually a big fan of that brand, something about that variety tho.
I do like Haagen Daaz and some very Scottish ice creams
I am not very picky when it comes to ice cream. Generally, do prefer the hard pack, high fat sort. Surprised how much I enjoy one of the tasty twist franchises in Orlando for the soft serve in one of those chocolate dipped cones with sprinkles :).

Happy Birthday to your lovely mum

Midterms for little one this week. Said not so hard. I guess? Her Spring Break was last week. Did nothing. Asked her about graduation, said University has not said anything yet about buying, renting or given to be returned gowns. I guess next month more info. Still getting her to put out her resumes. Doesn’t want to stay in PA, so we shall see. Older one? Homebody, and doubt he will settle down far away from our home.

Tea this evening. So glad it’s Friday tomorrow. Even if it’s going to be rainy.
