Something About Nothing............ #14

I saw my shadow earlier this month, needed to hunker down after the trip.

Other than needing to move our departure up, we’ve been very lucky just missing bulk of the storms rolling across the country! Two more to go this week, looks like we just get dinged again.

nearly everyone I know has somebody in the family down with flu or RSV. The bigger hospital system here re-instituted mandatory masking again to counter it. Seems as tho most who do get covid these days fare better…either some immunity from prior encounter or vaxx’d.

surgeon’s office of said system sent me a message today that I was to go forth and get jabbed three times today…covid booster, flu and RSV. I complied with the 1st two. Not a fan of getting both same day, usually entails being sick as dog the next day. Worth it but, still a pain.

If they push it, guess I’ll get the RSV. Has anyone gotten one yet? Can’t say I know anyone who has. Already had RSV late December 2023 - January 2024. Was really nasty and lingered. Apparently, you can get it more than once. Isn’t that special?

Hope robbie is feeling better after her slip/fall on way south. Horrible response from the hotel mgmt. no excuse

Hope you`re not doing too badly now and hope the worst of the weather misses you!

Can`t help with the RSV, they don`t offer it to us over here, well maybe they do for certain groups with certain conditions, but never heard anyone mention it, flu and covid is all we get offered now. I`m done with covid jabs but will get the flu ones going forward.

I think we`ve been lucky, we`ve had covid/flu vax at the same time and never been up nor down, but I hear of plenty like you and it doesn`t agree with them.

Ok, it’s been so long since i posted; forgot how lol

After four years, the Russians finally released Mark Fogel (who hails from across the river from us) from his long imprisonment. A teacher by trade BTW.

Do u do by hand or machine? I’ve never been confident with my work on the machine for that.

Ha, you know my house better than that. Was a snooze fest from the game, to the commercials to the excruciatingly boring half-time show.

One stellar exception:

It is pretty. I always feel somewhat foolish cleaning off the deck. Sidewalks & driveway, no such issue.

Sounds like a plan! I thought of you when one of my kids mentioned a possible golfing trip to Myrtle Beach this spring. I reminded him the ocean water is way too cold to brave in early March there. He responded we always saw people on beach & in water when we’d go down to visit family for Easter there. My response: “that’s the annual invasion of the French Canadians”. Hardiest people ever, pretty sure they have no internal thermostat lol.

You, go, girl!

We desperately need a new attitude, that requires a new head coach.

Did you take the high or the low road? As bad as the puns get lol. Sounds like a lovely, surprise get away. I’ve said it before, your mr could teach a husband master-class!

Haven`t heard about that gentleman over here, that is happy news indeed, but I do like his hat!! Well, hope they get a new outlook and do better!

lol....now I have that song in my head!! It was a lovely surprise, I never expected it as our next planned trip was next month for mum`s birthday, oh he is a star for sure!!!

Has anyone heard how Robbie is doing?

No, but she posted on Wednesday.

What a day this has been. I arrived at work to discover that our internet and phones were down. Comcast came out and replaced the modem, but that didn’t solve the problem. They said the problem was with another piece of equipment that wasn’t theirs. My boss had me call the rep who set up our new phone system, but he said they don’t do IT anymore. He came out and came up with a quick fix and recommend someone else to handle the IT issues. The computer technician came out and determined that some of our equipment had died. He is getting new equipment for us but in the meantime got everything up and running again.
I had a bunch of emails and voicemails to respond to. I don’t know why some people decided that the middle of a winter storm was a good time to call and try to take care of scheduling and payments. I ended up staying over 2 hours later than usual just so I could get caught up on everything. Oh, and I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. I’m surprised I am still awake right now.

What an awesome surprise. The pictures are beautiful even with the fog.

I had to look up the recommended age. I’m not quite there yet.

Agreed

The snow stays on the deck until it melts. Dh did a good job of salting the driveway and steps.

Can’t wait to see this is person again.

A couple of pieces of good news for us.
1. Each year dh goes to a broadcasting convention in Vegas. He submitted a screenplay to one of their contests and won first place in its division.

2. Rick Springfield is touring and coming to Virginia. Dh got us tickets to see him in Richmond this summer.

Sounds like quite a day!! We are so dependent on technology today, it`s scary!

Congratulations to your DH!! I`m sure you`re all proud as punch of him and Rick Springfield, wow I hear he puts on an amazing show, that sounds like a lot of fun!

Hope you got a better nights sleep last night!

Thank you, Scotland is just amazingly beautiful, even in fog, I quite like it when it`s like that too, especially in winter.

My friend J and I are really enjoying our Wednesday evenings out, learning some new and different dances, we do ache a little next day and even a little ache today, but it`s worth it, I am finding muscles I never knew I had.

We had a busy day yesterday, nice though, out shopping then friends invited us for lunch, so we drove over to them and spent a rather lovely afternoon chatting about anything and everything, nice lunch too.

Lazy night last night on the phone to my mum, niece and my sister too, passed an evening away before we knew it!

Today, no idea what we`re doing, might go do something, it is freezing, I just went to bring in the milk and it`s not getting any warmer yet!

Doing a couple of steaks tonight for our own Valentine`s dinner, shrimp and scallops in a champagne sauce to start and I`m going to make lemon syllabub with a strawberry heart shape blob on top, very romantic lol.......

Time for my first pot of tea of the day, sleeping beauty is out for the count still, so little mini pot I think!

And we have an Anniversary today......😍

Our very own keishashadow and her mister celebrate 33 years of wedded bliss!!!! I remember how many years as they got married same year as us, that might be cheating a little, but hope you both have a lovely anniversary and many congratulations!!! 🍾

31 for us in June.

TGIF :cheer2: I am so happy it is Friday!!!! And it is a holiday weekend as well, so I get an extra day off which will be great.

Weather is still cold. The wind is here making it feel colder :sad2: It is supposed to warm up mid week. My head already feels the shift happening. I don't love having barometer brain. Oh well, the OTC meds seem to be keeping it at bay, so I'm just left with a fuzzy feeling head.

Not much planned for this weekend. Gd is having a sleep over tomorrow night so dd and son-in-law can have a nice Valentine's day. It is an anniversary day of their first official day together. I'm thinking it will be a movie night. I'll have to see what gd wants for dinner to make it an extra special night for her.

I was in a little fender bender yesterday morning on my way to work. I was rear-ended at a red light. It wasn't a hard hit - my bumper was only cracked. No air bags deployed or big pieces of the bumper broke off. My back was a little tight this morning, but not too bad. There was a light dusting of snow yesterday - which caused him to hit me. I feel for the guy - he is an Amazon driver.

Other than that - not much else is new lol. Work is still the same circus :rolleyes1

Tom and I had a lovely few days away in Scotland, early Valentine`s getaway
That is awesome!

We are hoping to snag a very last minute deal/trip. We are just kind of waiting to hear from the couple we were planning to go with. Her dad is having some health issues, and has some testing this next week. So we will make a decision once we hear from her about if they can go or not.
He responded we always saw people on beach & in water when we’d go down to visit family for Easter there. My response: “that’s the annual invasion of the French Canadians”.
We are definitely a hardy bunch. We have been given a side eye, when swimming in pools when others would NEVER even think about getting wet lol.

It feels good when the vacations hit just right and you miss all the icky weather
What a day this has been. I arrived at work to discover that our internet and phones were down
That is always a nightmare. Especially when so much of business is done with technology.

I can't love this enough for you!!! It sounds like it would be so much fun!

Well, I should probably get a few things cleared off my workques. It seems like there was a lull - and now there is a big list of things to complete today.

Have a great day everyone!

Congratulations Keisha!!!

Always good to celebrate, so many don`t bother, but any anniversary is worth the effort.

It`s the wind that`s getting us this week Pumpkin, makes me hibernate as it`s coming straight from Siberia, changed slightly today but still staying home weather! Hope your head feels better, that fuzzy feeling is awful.

Glad you`re both ok, I`m sure the driver must have got a shock too, but no loss to life nor limb is always a win. And fingers crossed you get something sorted soon for a break, does us the world of good.

Pumpkin, I wish my friend and I had gone long before now, it is a lovely evening, nice group of women, we get to exercise with fun and one of my best friends and I just have a blast and we can kick a few new moves now 😛....not the most elegant, but hey, we`re doing it!!

Have a great weekend with the little lady :)

Well, my usual Friday flowers were extra nice today, not Valentine colours, just the usual assortment, very pretty they are too. We don`t go in much for Valentine`s but we do get little treats for each other.

Had our appetiser, little earlier than usual as we were starving, will have the steaks in half an hour or so then dessert and a movie of some sort. Might do the rest of the Bad Boys movies.

Tomorrow, we have Kyle coming in the afternoon and staying for Chinese food I believe, but we have no plans at all. Sunday I`m baking a load of buttery shortbread for Kyle`s office colleagues, as requested from them. 😊

Steaks soon, then pot of tea with dessert and movie time :)

nearly everyone I know has somebody in the family down with flu or RSV.
The flu/virus has been rampant in Mn. It is on the downswing now. Luckily non of our family got much more than a cough and sore throat.
If they push it, guess I’ll get the RSV. Has anyone gotten one ye
My husband and I got that vaccine. RSV is very scary to us. My husband had a bad case of respiratory illness last year which was scary and miserable, so we aren't taking chances.
Do u do by hand or machine? I’ve never been confident with my work on the machine for that.
Sorry I''m late on answering this. I sew the zippers by machine. I don't know why, but they are easy for me and I like doing them. When I took home ec in school, I did all the zippers for the other girls, LOL.
What a day this has been. I arrived at work to discover that our internet and phones were down.
I wonder if we are getting too comfortable with technology? And I wonder what would happen if the internet shut down for a while? I think we need to think of backups for this, or maybe I'm just being paranoid??:)
up staying over 2 hours later than usual just so I could get caught up on everything.
That's rotten that you had to work late due to that delay.
We are so dependent on technology today, it`s scary!
Yes, I agree 100%
My friend J and I are really enjoying our Wednesday evenings out, learning some new and different dances, we do ache a little next day and even a little ache today, but it`s worth it, I am finding muscles I never knew
LOL, I bet you are finding muscles you didn't know that you had:) My legs got sore because I walked too much the other day, and I didn't even go that far. I think I need to start walking again. It's hard to get enthused about it when it's 20 below zero.
Congratulations Keisha!!!
:cheer2: Happy Anniversary, Janet! I hope you two have a lovely anniversary:)

Wow, that's scary. I'm glad it's not worse.
My back was a little tight this morning, but not too bad.
Hope your back is getting better and it doesn't linger on.
Sunday I`m baking a load of buttery shortbread for Kyle`s office colleagues,
Buttery shortbread sounds delicious! Kyle's workmates are very spoiled:)

Well, we have another week of the deep freeze coming up! This is getting old pretty fast.:(.

It's been a busy week with doctor's appointments, and other things. It seems like when I think I have a free day, something came up this week! These things always involved going out in the subzero temps and freezing! The wind chills were in the -40 degree range, which is as bad as it sounds:)

So, staying in a warm house has been nice after all the errands.

Not too much going on, so will sign off with Hi's to Mac, Robbie, Lynne, and anyone else I might have missed this week!

Happy Valentines Day!

Every place has its good and bad points. When we lived in Tn. it got very hot and humid in the summer which was not pleasant. Also, they have a lot of poisonous snakes such as copperheads, rattlesnakes, and cottonmouths. Plus lots of bugs and fire ants. At least we dont have those here:)
I always tell people there is a price for living in paradise. There is good and bad. Weather here in Flordia is nice this time of year, but the gators, snakes and fire ants if you encounter them are a reminder there are dangers too.

Here we have the Eastern Diamonback rattler and the Coral Snake.
Those poisonous snakes are scary.

I will assume I was the only one in our group here that watched the foot ball game tonight..
I watched a little with hubby. Kinda worst Super Bowl ever. Not for the winning team of course, but for overall entertainment. Definitely the worst halftime show ever. I will usually watch that with hubby. It was so aweful I could not watch anymore of it.

This is what I woke up to this morning.
Yuck……..snow.

We did watch the Superbowl on Sunday. It seemed like a lack-luster game. Some great plays and interceptions by the eagles. We were at dd - son-in-law is a huge NFL fan (he loves the bears) so it was a nice little party with them and a few of their friends.
Our son is a big Bears fan.

I could see us being snowbirds - where we would probably do a short term rental for a few months. It's what many Canadians do. But won't be for at least another 10 years, before we would be able to be away for longer periods of time. I don't think we would own property south. As much as I would love to, I don't think it's in the cards for us.
Our neighbors are snowbirds from Canada.

Hope the little guy is doig better Robbie.
He is doing better, thank you Carole. I FaceTimed with my niece and little J yesterday evening. He was hit with double whammy. He ended up getting fifth’s disease from school and then a sinus infection. This is the first time he has had to be on antibiotics.

He is so sweet. It was good to see him and my niece on our video chat.

Tom and I had a lovely few days away in Scotland, early Valentine`s getaway. We had three nights in a gorgeous hotel around Loch Lomond, weather was typical for this time of year but made it all the more romantic somehow, fog and drizzle is nice when you`re sitting by a log fire!
What a wonderful romantic getaway.

Hope robbie is feeling better after her slip/fall on way south. Horrible response from the hotel mgmt. no excuse
Thank you, Janet getting better. Just wish the upper back issue would resolve totally, but sometimes those things take time.

Our very own keishashadow and her mister celebrate 33 years of wedded bliss!!!! I remember how many years as they got married same year as us, that might be cheating a little, but hope you both have a lovely anniversary and many congratulations!!! 🍾

Happy Anniversary to Janet and her hubby. May you have many more Happy Anniversaries to come.

I’am here. Mac hope you and your hubby are well.

TGIF :cheer2: I am so happy it is Friday!!!! And it is a holiday weekend as well, so I get an extra day off which will be great.
Enjoy your much deserved 3 day weekend.

Enjoy your time with Kyle. Sounds like his office friends are enjoying getting spoiled with your shortbread. Sounds delicious.

Wow…..That is cold. Hope all the doctor appts went well.

Not too much going on, so will sign off with Hi's to Mac, Robbie, Lynne, and anyone else I might have missed this week!

Happy Valentines Day!
Good morning Ruth. Hope you and you hubby are well.

Did you complete your grandsons camo jacket. You are a creative grandma. I’am sure he will appreciate and love his jacket from you.

Up at 5 am this morning. We had a nelly guster of a storm last night. It brought in some high winds and much needed rain. We had a storm Friday night too that had some impressive lightening. That is really the first rains we have had since being here.

A little bit of a busy week this week. I guess for a retired person so to speak…..LOL…I can remember doing so many things on top of working a few years ago and I now look back and think how did we accomplish all of that and work too.

Hubby had to have two caps removed. Permanent ones will be in in 3 weeks. Our dentist in Indiana did not place the caps appropriately. The caps are in the top back and are right next to each other and hubby has had problems with them for past year. So we saw another dentist here. He has done work on our teeth and he is wonderful.

My upper back is still pretty tender, but better. Shoulder, arm and leg bruising from fall is all gone. On top of everything else my UC flared up. So on steroids to calm that down and think the meds have helped back a bit too. Not bad to get a two for one. Problem is steroids do mess with my sleep. Will start tapering off those soon so that will help some…..The perils of Penelope….

We have had beautiful weather during the day here other then the aforementioned storms past couple of nights. Temperatures have been in upper 70’s to low 80’s.

I have enjoyed getting out and walking around. Keeping moving is a good thing.

Hubby and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. He is the love of my life. Looking forward to many more happy years with the sweetest man I know.
IMG_5033.gif

I did get my hair done Wednesday. Needed to have the gray roots colored. I was starting to look like PePe Le Pew
IMG_5039.webp

I wanted to find another Licensed Message Therapist here. I have a wonderful one in Indiana, but needed to get another one here. The one I used before and really liked moved.

I did some research online and found another one and had an appt with her yesterday. She did a wonderful job. She is located in an upscale shopping center.

When you enter her office it’s like walking into a hippie salon. Her therapy room is like walking into a galaxy of stars. Which are reflected tastefully on the walls of the lightly darkened room. I took this as sign (if there is such a thing) as I love the stars and rocket ships. I was hoping she could ease some of the muscles and tendons in my upper back. It did help some for sure. I really liked her. She looks like a barefooted Holistic Earth Mother. She was very nice.

Not much going on today. Hubby and I might venture out for lunch. Then we might stop and walk the boardwalk by the Ocean when we are done. A little salt air does the body good.

Happy Belated Valentine’s Day to all the sweethearts here on the Sans.
IMG_5038.gif

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Happy Saturday. I am having lazy day so far. I have nothing that I really need to do, so I think I will stay home most of the day. We are supposed to get rain today.

Last night we went to see the new Captain America movie. We were going to have dinner at a Mexican restaurant in the mall, but when we got there it was a 45 minute wait. We ended up eating at the food court. B was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to go to the Mexican restaurant, so I told her we could go there tonight.

My friend J and I are really enjoying our Wednesday evenings out, learning some new and different dances, we do ache a little next day and even a little ache today, but it`s worth it, I am finding muscles I never knew I had.
Sounds like a fun way to get some exercise.

Our very own keishashadow and her mister celebrate 33 years of wedded bliss!!!!
Happy belated anniversary Keisha!

I was in a little fender bender yesterday morning on my way to work. I was rear-ended at a red light. It wasn't a hard hit - my bumper was only cracked. Glad to hear it wasn’t something too serious. I would hate to be that Amazon driver though.

And I wonder what would happen if the internet shut down for a while?
I think there would be chaos. Remember how panicked everyone was over Y2K?

That's rotten that you had to work late due to that delay.
It wasn’t too bad, and I made up a little of the time lost due to the snow days.

I always tell people there is a price for living in paradise. There is good and bad. Weather here in Flordia is nice this time of year, but the gators, snakes and fire ants if you encounter them are a reminder there are dangers too.
I loved Florida winters but hated the summers.

My upper back is still pretty tender, but better. Shoulder, arm and leg bruising from fall is all gone.
Glad you are doing better.

Hubby and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary on Wednesday.
Happy belated anniversary!

We are watching next week’s forecast. It looks as if we are going to get significant snow on Wednesday, but less ice this time. If anticipating being out of work Wednesday and Thursday.

Did you complete your grandsons camo jacket.
Hi Robbie: I'm finally keeping up with the SANs:) Well, other things have gotten in the way, so no not yet. I hope to get to it soon. The problem is that with my severe fibromyalgia, I can only do things in the AM, and need to rest in the afternoon. So, I have to sandwich everything into the mornings. I'm used to it and that routine helps me.
Here we have the Eastern Diamonback rattler and the Coral Snake.
Oh I hate snakes!!!! We were always on the watch for them. We only have black snakes up here if they can make it through the winter, LOL. Those fire ants are Awful. I remember them well. I never got bitten but I know others who have.
Hope all the doctor appts went well.
It was my Mom, and all went well thankfully. She is back to her energetic 97 y/o self:)
. The caps are in the top back and are right next to each other and hubby has had problems with them for past year. So we saw another dentist
That's disappointing that he had to find another dentist and have more work done. I'm glad he found a good one.
of everything else my UC flared up. So on steroids to calm that down
I hope your flare up is better? My grandson is on a high dose of steroids now and a new med. The new med (can't remember the name) is in pill form, which is a big relief for him from having to give himself those shots.
I did some research online and found another one and had an appt with her yesterday. She did a wonderful job. She is located in an upscale shopping center.
A good massage therapist is worth gold, IMO. I'm glad you found one you like. They are few and far between up here but I got lucky. Mine won't take anymore clients on as she is so busy.
Holistic Earth Mother. She was very nice.
I had to laugh at this one. A long time ago I had a therapist like this. She wore the long dresses with the beads and used many different techniques besides massage. Some of them were far out, but I liked her a lot so I tried them. Earth Mother, that brings back memories.
Last night we went to see the new Captain America movie.
Charade, How was the movie?

Happy Sunday SANs family. Not doing too much except making homemade noodles for our beef and noodles meal tomorrow. Making noodles was one thing I learned from my Father. He was a fabulous cook:)

I hope you all had a nice romantic Valentine's Day.
My husband forgot for the first time in 56 years!!!! (yes I'm that old)but I got married as a young child, LOL. I left a hint for him and he hurried into town to buy homemade chocolates, but he couldn't even get a parking place. They were very busy, so I guess he wasn't the only one to forget:) He did get me a beautiful mixed bouquet and a nice card, so all is forgiven:)

Not that I’ve been out of the house but, it’s turned into a slushy day here. Snow early AM to point where the mr shoveled it, now rain & more rain…clean thru to tomorrow afternoon, then snow again. Then we drop into highs in the teens, maybe 20 degrees if lucky, for a week.

First day I’ve felt human and lost that whopper of a headache I’ve had since tuesday night. Followed the course of the mr’s flu, blaming it more for feeling like a zombie for days.

Valentines dinner was Greek yogurt with some mandarin orange sections and a couple of cashews tossed in and a package of lance crackers. The mr had a jersey mike Italian hoagie. The smell turned my stomach so I had to ask him to go into other part of house & eat…anyone remember morning sickness? That was it lol

Up since 7 on couch. Brain rotting away courtesy of the tv. Goal is to sit vertical until bedtime. The glam life for me

I can’t keep tabs on when you are at home or back in Florida.

lol

In a few days, it will be vacation time again for Janet..
Woot !
I wish! Main reason I agreed to recent trip was 1. The mr was paying :) & 2. The first surgeon doled out a long recovery/no fly period.

Hoping this one has a different viewpoint. Need to know where I stand as have final payment due on the mr’s “birthday surprise trip” end of May. Hope I’m not forced to cancel it. Wanted to be the one to make the grand gesture for a change.
Each year dh goes to a broadcasting convention in Vegas. He submitted a screenplay to one of their contests and won first place in its division.
That is amazing! Congrats to him. Hopefully, he might be able to shop it around.
I am finding muscles I never knew I had.
Lol the good burn!
And we have an Anniversary today.
Thank you, so nice to remember us.
I feel for the guy - he is an Amazon driver.
Probably not any longer. Majority are subcontractors here. Glad you are ok!
Sunday I`m baking a load of buttery shortbread for Kyle`s office colleagues
Yum, only tried making shortbread once. Wasn’t a fan of the finished product.
When I took home ec in school, I did all the zippers for the other girls, LOL.
Well, that takes me back to high school! It was mandatory to take one year to graduate. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it but, did. Was funny, our group was comprised of those in academic track who, literally; were plunked into it the last semester of school so we could graduate.

We had girls who burnt both toast and scrambled eggs. The latter, I didn’t think was possible.

I’m better at hand sewing. Can use a basic machine. Never mastered using a zipper foot. Have one now that is slightly computerized. Glad I have option to shut that off, not comfortable with it, makes me nervous lol

I think I need to start walking again. It's hard to get enthused about it when it's 20 below zero.
I’d think you’d freeze solid to the ground after walking 50 feet in that weather!

Now, I’m thinking of this

IMG_6698.jpeg
It's been a busy week with doctor's appointments, and other things.
Here, they seem to run in spurts for some reason
He ended up getting fifth’s disease from school and then a sinus infection.
I need to google that, never heard the phrase

Believe a happy anniversary is due to you too! How many years?

Brain foggy, your son is doing well after his surgery and DiL is getting PT after her’s? And hubby is coming along after his too?
So we saw another dentist here. He has done work on our teeth and he is wonderful.
Lucky to find a good dentist, few & far between here
I was starting to look like PePe Le Pew
Lol, mine came in, just enough of a shade off from the blonde color it’s noticeable after the 2nd day.
Last night we went to see the new Captain America movie.
What did you think? I wasn’t crazy about the last one
Making noodles was one thing I learned from my Father
Another lost art there. They taste so much better fresh.

Happy Anniversary to Robo, and a belated Happy Anniversary to Keisha too!

As the saying out of islands says, the adventure continues. But this one sadly ends. We had a great time, and most perfect hot weather. Only rain we saw, was while we were eating dinner, and it lasted a whole 10 minutes, before the late in day sun came out. And parade went off with no issues an hour after that rain. And as the other saying goes: laissez les bons temps rouler.

The flu/virus has been rampant in Mn. It is on the downswing now. Luckily non of our family got much more than a cough and sore throat.

My husband and I got that vaccine. RSV is very scary to us. My husband had a bad case of respiratory illness last year which was scary and miserable, so we aren't taking chances.

Sorry I''m late on answering this. I sew the zippers by machine. I don't know why, but they are easy for me and I like doing them. When I took home ec in school, I did all the zippers for the other girls, LOL.

I wonder if we are getting too comfortable with technology? And I wonder what would happen if the internet shut down for a while? I think we need to think of backups for this, or maybe I'm just being paranoid??:)

That's rotten that you had to work late due to that delay.

Yes, I agree 100%

LOL, I bet you are finding muscles you didn't know that you had:) My legs got sore because I walked too much the other day, and I didn't even go that far. I think I need to start walking again. It's hard to get enthused about it when it's 20 below zero.

:cheer2: Happy Anniversary, Janet! I hope you two have a lovely anniversary:)

Wow, that's scary. I'm glad it's not worse.

Hope your back is getting better and it doesn't linger on.

Happy Valentines Day!

ruth

Walking when you haven`t been as active for a while does wake your legs up for sure!!! Once the weather picks up here Tom and I will get back out regularly, meanwhile with those temps Ruth, stay in!!!!

I remember not being able to thread the sewing machine at school, it was out of the ark from memory and one of my friends did it for me, teacher knew of course and said out loud in class one day (she was a cow) well, we all know miss *****@********* will never make an engineer due to her lack of talent. I always wanted to go back and tell the old cow I did get an Engineering Degree and another in English Literature too, but obviously never got the chance. I haven`t thought about that in ages lol.....and to this day I won`t touch a sewing machine!

I make it to a recipe called Petticoat Tails, softer shortbread and very, very buttery!!! They do like it.

Good morning Sans family :wave2:

I always tell people there is a price for living in paradise. There is good and bad. Weather here in Flordia is nice this time of year, but the gators, snakes and fire ants if you encounter them are a reminder there are dangers too.

Here we have the Eastern Diamonback rattler and the Coral Snake.
Those poisonous snakes are scary.

I watched a little with hubby. Kinda worst Super Bowl ever. Not for the winning team of course, but for overall entertainment. Definitely the worst halftime show ever. I will usually watch that with hubby. It was so aweful I could not watch anymore of it.

Yuck……..snow.

Our son is a big Bears fan.

Our neighbors are snowbirds from Canada.

What a wonderful romantic getaway.

Thank you, Janet getting better. Just wish the upper back issue would resolve totally, but sometimes those things take time.

Happy Anniversary to Janet and her hubby. May you have many more Happy Anniversaries to come.

I’am here. Mac hope you and your hubby are well.

Enjoy your much deserved 3 day weekend.

I’am sorry to hear about your accident. Hope your back feels better soon.

Enjoy your time with Kyle. Sounds like his office friends are enjoying getting spoiled with your shortbread. Sounds delicious.

Wow…..That is cold. Hope all the doctor appts went well.

I did get my hair done Wednesday. Needed to have the gray roots colored. I was starting to look like PePe Le Pew

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Glad the little guy is doing better, I too had to look up that name, it has rather a humorous name over here, it`s called slapped cheek syndrome, used to be very common a few years back but haven`t heard of it in a long time.

Belated Anniversary wishes to you and your husband, always nice to celebrate!!

Being retired is wonderful but yes, at times I wonder why we are so busy, but we do like to keep busy where we can as well as enjoying some down time doing nothing now and again. Best of both worlds.

Have a lovely weekend and hope your symptoms ease soon, it can be so miserable dealing with both issues, but at the same time it feels unfair and yes, sleep patterns are so important.

Sounds like a fun way to get some exercise.

Happy belated anniversary Keisha!

Glad to hear it wasn’t something too serious. I would hate to be that Amazon driver though.

I think there would be chaos. Remember how panicked everyone was over Y2K?

It wasn’t too bad, and I made up a little of the time lost due to the snow days.

I loved Florida winters but hated the summers.

Glad you are doing better.

Happy belated anniversary!

We are watching next week’s forecast. It looks as if we are going to get significant snow on Wednesday, but less ice this time. If anticipating being out of work Wednesday and Thursday.

Hope you got to the restaurant with your daughter, and yes it is probably the most fun group we have joined in a while. No pressure, all at your own pace, but my goodness for 90 minutes you don`t stop moving and we`re loving it!!

Oh I hate snakes!!!! We were always on the watch for them. We only have black snakes up here if they can make it through the winter, LOL. Those fire ants are Awful. I remember them well. I never got bitten but I know others who have.

It was my Mom, and all went well thankfully. She is back to her energetic 97 y/o self:)

That's disappointing that he had to find another dentist and have more work done. I'm glad he found a good one.

I hope your flare up is better? My grandson is on a high dose of steroids now and a new med. The new med (can't remember the name) is in pill form, which is a big relief for him from having to give himself those shots.

A good massage therapist is worth gold, IMO. I'm glad you found one you like. They are few and far between up here but I got lucky. Mine won't take anymore clients on as she is so busy.

I had to laugh at this one. A long time ago I had a therapist like this. She wore the long dresses with the beads and used many different techniques besides massage. Some of them were far out, but I liked her a lot so I tried them. Earth Mother, that brings back memories.

They were very busy, so I guess he wasn't the only one to forget:) He did get me a beautiful mixed bouquet and a nice card, so all is forgiven:)

ruth

Remind me again Ruth......when you say noodles, what do you mean?? Here noodles are usually in Chinese food, like lo mein or chow mein dishes and can be thin, thick or regular????

As I said to you last night, yes, once in 56 years isn`t bad at all, I think you can forgive him this time, but tell him it better not happen again lol....I love flowers and appreciate getting them so often.

Another lost art there. They taste so much better fresh.

Don`t be in a rush to move anywhere with your weather, best place for you, I know it sucks to feel so crappy though and on your anniversary too. Hope the next appointment goes the way you want it to go and you get good news. I know what you mean about wanting to make a trip for your mister, yes our husbands deserve a surprise treat!!!!

lol...not sure the good burn feels so good on Wednesday nights, but we`re always glad we went, so there`s that, can`t be that bad as we keep going back.

I make a slightly different recipe for shortbread called Petticoat Tails, as I said to Ruth, they are a much softer shortbread that we prefer. My sister is the opposite, she prefers a hard bite but I find that type a little tasteless and more of a shortcake. Kyle and his colleagues love it, one of the bosses wanders around muttering it`s the best shortbread he`s ever tasted, so I`ll take that compliment!!

Hope you`re feeling better today, but take it easy all the same.

We had a lovely day yesterday apart from it being cold, grey, miserable, foggy and drizzly.....hey ho, it`s winter. Kyle came over late mid afternoon and we had a nice catch up and enjoyed some beautiful Chinese take out. Him and some friends are travelling 2 hours this morning to do a 15 mile city run somewhere, it is however a little better today and not as foggy.

I`m baking today, will be hard to resist eating some ourselves, I`m sure we might have a square or two and there`ll still be loads for the office, will hand it in in the morning.

Doing beef in Ale for dinner tonight, slow cooked all day in dark ale, beef stock and all the usual herbs and spices, I have some puff pastry so going to turn it into a steak pie, very winter warming dish and some simple veg, we don`t need any potato with the pastry and we`ll probably keep some shortbread for our after dinner cuppa.

Weirdly Tom just asked what`s for lunch......no clue, might do bacon in a bap and this is definitely a day for lots of tea, it`s still so cold outside. I only need a few bits from the store so Tom will pop out on his own while I get on.

Nice baking day ahead but always feels very relaxing doing it.

Have a lovely Sunday :)

It’s a soggy Sunday. It rained almost all of yesterday and into today. I think it’s going to stop sometime this afternoon.

I just made hotel reservations for the nights I will be seeing Micky Dolenz and Rick Springfield in concert. Rick will actually be performing at a venue that is about an hour closer to us than the venue we booked. The tickets are about half of what we spent, but I discovered that the venue is general admission lawn seating. I’d rather pay more for a reserved seat that is actually a seat.

Charade, How was the movie?

What did you think? I wasn’t crazy about the last one

The movie was okay. Not really up to the standard of the original Avengers movie, but certainly not the worst Marvel movie ever made. If you haven’t seen The Incredible Hulk movie, I recommend watching that one first.

…anyone remember morning sickness?
I was very fortunate and didn’t have it.

First day I’ve felt human and lost that whopper of a headache I’ve had since tuesday night.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. I have had a few headaches recently and wonder if they are weather related.

Well, that takes me back to high school! It was mandatory to take one year to graduate.
I hated home ec. I got stuck in a cooking group of students who didn’t care if they passed or not. (Not a requirement for us. I took it because I thought it would be an easy elective.) They put almost no effort into the class, and since everything was a group project my grades suffered. I had to beg the teacher to put me in a different group.

and to this day I won`t touch a sewing machine!
I couldn’t use a sewing machine if my life depended on it. My mom was very good at sewing. I wish I had appreciated it more back then.

Hope you got to the restaurant with your daughter,
Still haven’t made it. Maybe today after the rain stops.

Today I need to get to the grocery store so we are prepared for the snow on Wednesday. Poor B is scheduled to work a long shift that day. The predicted accumulation has changed from 5-8 inches to 3-5 inches. I am so ready for my vacation.

Thank you Ruth.

Hi Robbie: I'm finally keeping up with the SANs:) Well, other things have gotten in the way, so no not yet. I hope to get to it soon. Good to have you back and posting.

Good to hear you are able to get things done in the morning before your fibromyalgia kicks in.

I like getting up early and trying to accomplish a few things on my to do list.

Oh I hate snakes!!!! We were always on the watch for them. We only have black snakes up here if they can make it through the winter, LOL. Those fire ants are Awful. I remember them well. I never got bitten but I know others who have.
I have been bit a couple times by fire ants and their name is appropriate. The pustules that form after a bite feels like fire.

It was my Mom, and all went well thankfully. She is back to her energetic 97 y/o self
Good to hear your mom is doing well.

hope your flare up is better? My grandson is on a high dose of steroids now and a new med. The new med (can't remember the name) is in pill form, which is a big relief for him from having to give himself those shots.
I hope you grandson does get the relief he needs from his new medication regimen.

My flare is calming down with the steriods.

This one is not to far out. She is into holistic medicine which is nice, but she is not pushy with her beliefs. I found out about some nice organic farms around here that I was not aware of from her.

our beef and noodles meal tomorrow. Making noodles was one thing I learned from my Father. He was a fabulous cook:)
Wow……sounds like a nice dad who liked to cook. What a nice memory to have and share with your family. Beef and noodles sounds yummy.

hope you all had a nice romantic Valentine's Day.

Sorry to hear you have been sick Janet. Hopefully you are on the mend now.

I hope the second opinion on your surgery is what you are expecting hear and you are able to make the surprise trip for your hubby.

Sometimes being on the couch and chilling is what you need to do.

Thank you, 38 years.

Brain foggy, your son is doing well after his surgery and DiL is getting PT after her’s? And hubby is coming along after his too?
Granddaughter is doing great.

Spoke to daughter in law yesterday and she did get her stitches out of her knee. She is having physical therapy and is able to take a couple steps without her crutches. So slow and steady.

Happy Anniversary to Robo, and a belated Happy Anniversary to Keisha too!
Thank you, Lynne looks like you have been having a nice vacation.

Happy anniversary to Robbie and also Janet!
mine will be coming up on 50 unless he ticks me off.
just saying….
Thank you Mac.

What a wonderful milestone Anniversary you have coming up. Keep him in line….LOL

Glad the little guy is doing better, I too had to look up that name, it has rather a humorous name over here, it`s called slapped cheek syndrome, used to be very common a few years back but haven`t heard of it in a long time.
Yes, that is the nickname of it here too. It looks like someone has slapped them on their cheeks. Their little cheeks get such a red rash on them. He pretty much had all the bad side effects fever etc. What really upset my niece is that the school had a couple of kids that had this and they did not send out a email to the other parents to let them know they had already had two children diagnosed with it 2 weeks before.

Then little j got it and a couple of other children did too. Would have been nice for the school to have been courteous enough to warn the other parents so they could pick up on the signs early.

My younger sister K (little J’s grandma) is a Nurse and she knew what it was right away.

Then he got a sinus infection to boot. I felt so sorry for the little guy.

Belated Anniversary wishes to you and your husband, always nice to celebrate!!
Thank you Carole.

Have a lovely weekend and hope your symptoms ease soon, it can be so miserable dealing with both issues, but at the same time it feels unfair and yes, sleep patterns are so important.

Thank you. You have a nice rest of your weekend too. Stay in and stay warm and enjoy your tea.

Up early again this morning.

Did go out to the store and look at some plants. Then came back home and hubby was up so I made us a light breakfast.

Going to out on he patio for a little while.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

That remark on the girls burning eggs was great :rotfl2: I only remember us baking muffins for some reason. I used to make them every night until Mom and DAd got sick of them and requested something else:)

I feel the same way about the zipper foot. I use another foot to sew on the zippers and that seems to work well.

LOL loved the tongue to frozen post meme! I dress like the michelin man and move very quickly while I'm out. We tend to stay inside when it's this cold. Another 5 days of this, then we warm up to above zero. I think I'll have a party when that happens.:rockband::rockband:

I think it's easy to make noodles from scratch. The recipe is embarrassingly easy. I usually cook a roast the night before and have enough meat left for noodles the next day. One of our favorite meals. I have mashed potatoes with it and home made bread. I guess we get our years worth of carbs with that meal:)

I'm glad to hear the headache is gone and hope you both are feeling better now.
