Something About Nothing............ #14

I have 4 sons and a husband who live and breathe sports events as if it is the second coming of the Lord
(the 5 males in our home until they took jobs in different cities)

I have learned I do not live and breathe sport ing events as some of them become boring

i only watch baseball now.

My experience is …l ignore their sports ramblings, but i do watch the show sports of st. louis as I grew up in St. louis area

I thought I had posted this last night, but apparently I forget to hit send.

Quick good night post. Almost midnight here. Busy day today in preparation for the winter storm. I spent most of the morning contacting clients letting them know that all appointments will be telehealth tomorrow. Some people will not do telehealth, so I had cancellations and reschedules.

We are supposed to get 1-8 inches tomorrow depending on which forecast you believe. I guess we will find out tomorrow when it happens.

It’s now midnight, so I can post my latest countdown.

Quick stop in!!!!

I've been busy and trying to stay warm. Today it has finally warmed up to more tolerable temperatures - but lord knows I'm just plain 'ole done with winter. We are trying to plan a very last minute trip to a warm destination - but we are running out of time. We are both tired and needing some down time that includes some warm temperatures. Honestly, we will be plunking ourselves down by the pool or beach and not moving much. Dh is really needing the time off. He works way too much and just needs to be away to recharge.

I was on Grammie duty on Friday and picked up gd from daycare then home with us until dd flew back home later that night. It is always great to have her come over.

We did watch the Superbowl on Sunday. It seemed like a lack-luster game. Some great plays and interceptions by the eagles. We were at dd - son-in-law is a huge NFL fan (he loves the bears) so it was a nice little party with them and a few of their friends.

Any possibility of moving farther south some day?
I forgot to answer this the other day!!!!

I could see us being snowbirds - where we would probably do a short term rental for a few months. It's what many Canadians do. But won't be for at least another 10 years, before we would be able to be away for longer periods of time. I don't think we would own property south. As much as I would love to, I don't think it's in the cards for us.

Well, I should get going and do a few more tasks that need completing.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

I just did something a little crazy. Well, a little crazy for me. I just bought a ticket to see Micky Dolenz of The Monkees in concert. The venue is about 2.5 hours from me and the concert is a Tuesday night, so I will need to find a hotel for the night. I missed him the last time he was in Virginia.

Yes, walking on the softer loose sand to get out to the wetter packed sand to walk on is hard to do.

I like that they built a boardwalk to walk on. There was another area near the pizza place we go to by the Ocean that had a concrete walk that you could walk on, but it was damaged during the last Hurricane and had to be removed.

That is fascinating that your dad was an Elephant trainer in the circus.

Sounds like some nice plans for your wife for her birthday and Valentines Day.

Hope your hubby feels better soon.

I never watched the Mummy movie with Tom Cruise. Heard it was not good at all and gave it pass.

Looks like a beautiful place to walk.

Sounds like a man who was given a task and did it well. You have been a good impression on your sweetheart.

I can’t imagine temps that cold.

I’am sorry to hear you are hurting so bad. Sending feel better thoughts your way and prayers.

I hope you and your hubby are able to find sometime and a location in a warmer climate to get away for some relief from those cold temperatures.

Good to hear charade. It does make things feel better to know you a vacation to look forward to.

Janet hope you and your hubby were able to get home without much issue.

Ruth hope you and your hubby are doing well.

Counting heads and see Carole is missing this morning.

Mac hope you are still walking on kitty litter free floors this morning.

Up early this morning. Neighborhood is very quiet. We have a mix of folks still working and folks who are retired like us.

I did ride by bike this morning. I knew I needed to challenge myself or I was not going to progress as necessary after my fall. I was able to do pretty well. In the early morning here the wind has not picked up yet and it is easier for me to ride. The wind is usually Easterly coming in off the Ocean and when it is strong it is hard for me to peddle against it.

Hubby and I went out for a drive yesterday. We up to Sebastian and had a late lunch at a restaurant call Squid Lips. It sits out over the water. It has a nice view of the Marina and the Intercostal Waterway. It is so popular they built another one right near the original and they are both open. We had lunch at the older one. Will try the new one sometime.

Lunch was good. I had the shrimp basket and hubby had the fish basket and both came with slaw and fries. They had the best homemade tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. There was so much food in the baskets we could not finish it all.

After we left I saw a nice farm stand and I stopped for some tomatoes and other fresh veggies.

Sun was shining so nicely and it was 78 degrees. Hubby enjoyed his lunch.

Found out sweet little J was sick a few days ago. Sending a lot of healing prayers to my sweet little great-nephew. He is so precious.

Going to try and do some investigating for new interesting restaurants on the Ocean. We have our regulars we like, but I need to be more adventurous and look for more. Will be a nice treat to take granddaughter to some new places if she can make in down the end of the month.

I’am going to get out in the yard today and do a little tweaking in the front flower beds for just a little while.

It is supposed to be 80 degrees here today.

Sending lots of good thoughts and sunshine to those in need of it this morning.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Hope the little guy is doig better Robbie.

That is weird, but very nice to get some warmth.

Wow, that seems a little steep to me for a mediocre meal.

Sounds nice. We never got to eat at Olivia's but it was on our list when we went to WDW.

You Win the trophy for the coldest place! We only got down to -50 last week:)

I'm jealous!!! We won't see that until June or July.

I oSalon day for me, four hours of pampering and relaxation

That sounds like a lot fun:)

LOL, I had to laugh at this! We always say that we have 2 seasons, Winter and 2 weeks of summer.

One word: family, that's why we stay in the frozen north. I hope you back is better.

Wow, that's crazy

Janet, lounging at the pool in the warmth sounds perfect to me.

That's not good. When we moved to rural tennessee, people stopped when they saw us outside and talked and invited us over. They even had impromptu gettogethers playing guitars and singing around a campfire. If we lived in the big city, I bet that would never of happened.

Your hair color sounds nice and you are going to let it grow til April! I have let my hair grow since early November, and am in that stage of hating and loving it? :confused3 I might go for a cut next week if the temp gets above freezing!

Well, I don't know where this came from because I don't even remember reading this one????? Oh well..................

I am very impressed that you are able to ride a bike. Not that you couldn't, but I can't seem to balance enough to ride one now. It would be an accident waiting to happen)

I am really jealous of you! Our flower gardens are covered with 8 inches or more of snow! No flower planting until late May or early June.

Every place has it's good and bad points. When we lived in Tn. it got very hot and humid in the summer which was not pleasant. Also, they have a lot of poisonous snakes such as copperheads, rattlesnakes, and cottonmouths. Plus lots of bugs and fire ants. At least we dont have those here:)

It's Super Bowl Sunday, and I can't wait for the game to start! I made supper last night of sweet and sour chicken and rice and had plenty left for tonight, so no cooking during the game!

We are heading into the deep freeze for the next week, but thankfully not as cold as Pumpkin. We will be below zero for night time temps and cold during the days. I love to hear of the warm weather that some of you have.

I decided to make my greatgrandson, Rowan, a fleece camo hooded jacket. I made those for two of the grandsons many years ago. However, I seem to have forgotten all I know about making them now! I messed up on the pockets 3 times, !!!!, but now have it fixed and ready to sew. Then I get to put the zipper in! I'm going to hang in there and get this done. It's a good thing Spring won't be here for a few months, LOL.

Have a great super bowl day:)

ruth

Yes, going to let it grow so I can get it up into a ponytail, even a small one will do. It`s still quite short right now, but I do like it this short.

Did you get a haircut, I forgot to ask you in my last email?

Yes, most restaurants do a Valentine special menu, but almost double the price for what you get, not worth it most of the time.

I will assume I was the only one in our group here that watched the foot ball game tonight..

No football fans here mac, we don`t even watch UK football!! Although maybe if the Steelers had been playing lol.....I have to support them!!!

This is what I woke up to this morning.

Cold, but very pretty.

Tom is a Monkees fan, they`re not for me, but hope you enjoy the show and yes, find a nice hotel.

Tom and I had a lovely few days away in Scotland, early Valentine`s getaway. We had three nights in a gorgeous hotel around Loch Lomond, weather was typical for this time of year but made it all the more romantic somehow, fog and drizzle is nice when you`re sitting by a log fire!

This was our clearest view lol......

We left the hotel very early on Sunday and drove down to see family with a small detour and came home late Sunday night, but it was a lovely surprise trip and so romantic!!! 🥰

Back to reality though for a time.

It is cold here, but at least the wind has died down, just very grey all round.

Shopping done for a few days, and tonight I`m looking forward to going back to the dance class tonight, it is fun! I think my friend J is picking me up tonight, so earlyish dinner, I made a chicken curry this morning, it`s simmering away nicely and smells lovely already, nice and spicy!!!

Thinking of making lunch now, toasted hoagie style rolls with turkey, cranberry and will finish it off under the grill (broiler) with some Brie.

Waiting for two packages to come today.....still waiting!!!

Have a lovely Wednesday 😊

I saw my shadow earlier this month, needed to hunker down after the trip.

Other than needing to move our departure up, we’ve been very lucky just missing bulk of the storms rolling across the country! Two more to go this week, looks like we just get dinged again.

nearly everyone I know has somebody in the family down with flu or RSV. The bigger hospital system here re-instituted mandatory masking again to counter it. Seems as tho most who do get covid these days fare better…either some immunity from prior encounter or vaxx’d.

surgeon’s office of said system sent me a message today that I was to go forth and get jabbed three times today…covid booster, flu and RSV. I complied with the 1st two. Not a fan of getting both same day, usually entails being sick as dog the next day. Worth it but, still a pain.

If they push it, guess I’ll get the RSV. Has anyone gotten one yet? Can’t say I know anyone who has. Already had RSV late December 2023 - January 2024. Was really nasty and lingered. Apparently, you can get it more than once. Isn’t that special?

Hope robbie is feeling better after her slip/fall on way south. Horrible response from the hotel mgmt. no excuse

Ok, it’s been so long since i posted; forgot how lol

After four years, the Russians finally released Mark Fogel (who hails from across the river from us) from his long imprisonment. A teacher by trade BTW.

Then I get to put the zipper in!
Do u do by hand or machine? I’ve never been confident with my work on the machine for that.
I will assume I was the only one in our group here that watched the foot ball game tonight..
Ha, you know my house better than that. Was a snooze fest from the game, to the commercials to the excruciatingly boring half-time show.

One stellar exception:

This is what I woke up to this morning.

It is pretty. I always feel somewhat foolish cleaning off the deck. Sidewalks & driveway, no such issue.
We are both tired and needing some down time that includes some warm temperatures. Honestly, we will be plunking ourselves down by the pool or beach and not moving much.
Sounds like a plan! I thought of you when one of my kids mentioned a possible golfing trip to Myrtle Beach this spring. I reminded him the ocean water is way too cold to brave in early March there. He responded we always saw people on beach & in water when we’d go down to visit family for Easter there. My response: “that’s the annual invasion of the French Canadians”. Hardiest people ever, pretty sure they have no internal thermostat lol.

Although maybe if the Steelers had been playing lol.....I have to support them!!!
You, go, girl!

We desperately need a new attitude, that requires a new head coach.
We had three nights in a gorgeous hotel around Loch Lomond
Did you take the high or the low road? As bad as the puns get lol. Sounds like a lovely, surprise get away. I’ve said it before, your mr could teach a husband master-class!

Had a great day at Epcot, and ball was showing off its colors and designs as we drove away. That was after we had enjoyed a vanilla milkshake at Connections. Real whip cream and specs of vanilla beans in the ice cream they used. Was delicious. 16 minute drive back to hotel parking garage. Now, chilling as we both feel so full from those shakes.

Camel 🐫 is still on vacation, but wishes you a happy hump day. Where Friday now 2 days away.

What a day this has been. I arrived at work to discover that our internet and phones were down. Comcast came out and replaced the modem, but that didn’t solve the problem. They said the problem was with another piece of equipment that wasn’t theirs. My boss had me call the rep who set up our new phone system, but he said they don’t do IT anymore. He came out and came up with a quick fix and recommend someone else to handle the IT issues. The computer technician came out and determined that some of our equipment had died. He is getting new equipment for us but in the meantime got everything up and running again.
I had a bunch of emails and voicemails to respond to. I don’t know why some people decided that the middle of a winter storm was a good time to call and try to take care of scheduling and payments. I ended up staying over 2 hours later than usual just so I could get caught up on everything. Oh, and I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. I’m surprised I am still awake right now.

What an awesome surprise. The pictures are beautiful even with the fog.

If they push it, guess I’ll get the RSV. Has anyone gotten one yet?
I had to look up the recommended age. I’m not quite there yet.

Was a snooze fest from the game, to the commercials to the excruciatingly boring half-time show.
Agreed

It is pretty. I always feel somewhat foolish cleaning off the deck. Sidewalks & driveway, no such issue.
The snow stays on the deck until it melts. Dh did a good job of salting the driveway and steps.

Had a great day at Epcot, and ball was showing off its colors and designs as we drove away.
Can’t wait to see this is person again.

A couple of pieces of good news for us.
1. Each year dh goes to a broadcasting convention in Vegas. He submitted a screenplay to one of their contests and won first place in its division.

2. Rick Springfield is touring and coming to Virginia. Dh got us tickets to see him in Richmond this summer.
