Something About Nothing............ #14

I think I should know something within a few days. They gave me an information sheet but I was too tired to look at it yesterday. I was expecting the rooms to be more hospital like. I’m very glad they weren’t.

Same here. It poured all night and morning. I’m wearing my new rain boots today.

I always wait until day after Christmas when they are usually half off.

Not officially, but you may post to this thread as much as you like. We talk about everything.

I’m on lunch break right now. It’s a slow day, so I have been working on getting the therapists schedules set for next year. One therapist is changing her appointment start times and that is throwing off the whole schedule.

That`s not too bad a wait, so you hope to get a new machine through this test? And yes, they should have rooms that are warm and cosy rather than a hospital setting.

IGood morning everyone :wave2:

What a nice way to share their talent with everyone.

Sorry to hear your MRI did not go well. Sending lots of prayers that all goes well on your follow up appointment.

What a nice treat your friends brought by. Fresh Oysters are a treat for sure.

It is a kinda of joke between Nurses. Propofol the med they used to put you to sleep for procedures like EGD and Colonoscopies etc is a white liquid IV medication. Thats why we call it milk of amnesia. You are off to sleep with a little bit of that in your IV line.

I hope your sleep study goes well and your insurance approves you for a new machine.

Thank you for sharing your photos.

Looks like a good start to hour cruise. You will have to let us know how you like the cruise overall. I saw someone on youtube that didn’t like the rooms, but said the food was amazing. Always like to get an overall take.

Great to hear you have all your shopping done.

Sorry to hear about your fall. Yes, as we get older those falls can makes lots of things hurt after. I saw you said you were feeling some better. Glad to hear it. Sending get well prayers your way.

WOW……doesn’t seem like it should be here so soon already.

So glad to know she is getting to spend time with her brother. Just being there will help her and him so much. Lots of love being sent for them both.

I was going to post yesterday then things got busy.

I needed to get a few things done and posting went out the window.

I did get Christmas cards delivered to the Post Office and a few other errands done yesterday.

I received a package I ordered from Walmart yesterday evening and the item had been separated from its paired item and another item that doesn’t belong to it was added. The order was filled and sent from a Super Walmart that is 7 miles from me. So I went to the that Walmart and they had the correct item. So it was figured out. I talked to the lady at the service desk and she said who ever packaged the item in the store cut the plastic joiner piece and separated the items that belonged together. Was fixable, but defeated the purpose of ordering items and getting order delivered to the house.

It is dreary day today again. The high is supposed to be 41 degrees. So cooler day for sure.

The repair man was here to try and fix my double wall ovens. The top oven stopped working, but the bottom works ok. He had ordered the part after stopping here last week and seeing what the issue was. So he showed up early this morning and took the oven out of the wall and now he needs to order another part for the mother board. The Part should be here next week. So positive is that the bottom oven is still working until the part arrives to repair the upper oven.

We looked at maybe ordering another new double oven, but all the new ones are too wide for my cabinetry. My oven is still in great condition and is about 20 years old. So just happy we are going to be able to get it fixed it.

So enough with the oven situation. Something about nothing for sure.

Hubby is down for a quick rest. He is stronger some days than others.

Trying to wrap up the Christmas shopping. Still have a few things to be delivered.

Going to make some Turkey wraps for lunch. Then putter around the house.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone doing

lol.....her brother is a fisherman and they have a plentiful supply of seafood!!! They were delicious though and yes, it felt like a treat.

I hope to hear about the next appointment soon, not that anyone wants one of those!! Sooner it`s done the better.

Yes, i agree, it seems to have appeared very quickly this year, when I saw that meme someone sent to me, I did have to check the calendar!!

When online ordering goes awry, it is frustrating, usually it`s fine but there`s always that one time.

I hear you on the ovens, we have a double oven wall mounted too and even though we have the Aga, I use the other ovens too but to replace them if anything happened to them, I doubt they`d have similar in size. I think we`ll move before it wears out though as like yours, they`re in wonderful condition.

Glad your husband is still doing well, naps are always good, even if you`re not recovering from surgery, I do like a nap, especially in winter!

Have a lovely Wednesday too!!!

Disney has released the Garden Rocks concerts for the Flower and Garden Festival. Rick Springfield will be performing the day after we leave.

Is that in March??

Darn if it is I miss him again. My friend D who I met a few years ago in the Club Lounge is his tour manager and she said if we were there same time as Rick, she`d introduce us. One day we`ll make it, he seems to be the nicest guy.

Well, what a day.

I did pop out and get some bits and what I hope are the last of the presents for my Godchildren and their kids, still got a few bits to get for Scotland and I still have several gifts to get Tom yet. Kyle is sorted though, I just need to get him running stuff and he`s happy!! But we`ve done well for him this year, think he`ll be happy.

Ended up with nibbling on the baking for lunch, decided not to stop for a proper lunch, so we had spicy chicken gyros for dinner tonight, the flatbreads were quite nice for store bought products, we had a nice spicy dipping sauce too which went well.

Ginger sponge and custard for dessert later with a nice pot of tea, sponge is maybe a little too dense, it tastes nice but it`s a very small portion we`re having. But in general the baking went well and I can hand it all in tomorrow and some for Friday`s event too. Won`t bake now till Sunday, but that`s just cookies and my shortbread, easy peasy.

Going to try watching Elf tonight. I really don`t like Will Ferrell, he`s just not funny, but did watch it last year and it wasn`t awful, will give it a try. I might have a gin and lemonade, the fizzy kind of lemonade, I bought some giant lemons today, they look lovely and should give a good zing!!!

I also mentioned to a friend today it was two weeks till Christmas and like Robbie said.....it seems a tad too early!! She scared me when she said she hasn`t bought many presents yet!!!! Two weeks J...two weeks!!!!

Cuppa tea time.

Is that in March??
He’s performing March 16 & 17. We are leaving on the 15th.

It’s a cute movie but not one I would watch every year. I was in the hospital with my first kidney stone the first time I saw it. It was a good way to kill some time.

I’m sitting in a really boring webinar. Can’t wait to go home.

Quick hump day stop in!

Quiet night last night. I whipped up dinner. I've been trying to learn to use the "airfry " feature on my oven. It works great for meat - but NOT for veggies :sad1: I liked my counter airfryer much better. Guess I better decide on which model I want. I wish they still made the one that I had. I LOVED that one.

I was lazy - no gift wrapping last night. We started watching the Oiler's, then dh went to bed. I got caught up on Yellowstone....only one more episode. Then I think it will have one final season in May according to what I could find online. We will see.

Busyish day here. Getting all my loose ends tied up, as I'm training a new casual person tomorrow and Friday. Her training days are kind of sporadic for Dec. She will have more training days in Jan. Hopefully she retains what she learns in her few days here.

I have a nail appointment tonight. I am looking forward to that. Get the xmas nails done to match my antler headband I am currently sporting for work  It makes pt's laugh and smile when they see me. Anything to help make their time spent here easier.

More tea anyone........:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Yes please!!!! Especially since Tim's didn't get my order right this morning. They gave me a coffee instead of my steeped tea 🤢 It ticked me off a little bit.
Now back home from the mexican restaurant we usually go to.
Yum!!!!!!!!!!!
After work I went home and took a nap.
At least you have it completed now.
Could you say hi!
:wave2: Welcome

My parents ran into the same trouble with their ovens too. My dad luckily found one on facebook marketplace that someone was selling. IT was brand new. The person who originally purchased it, didn't end up using it for one reason or another. So after a quick trip to the city to pick it up, they had a brand new one. Dh installed it for them when we were there visiting last year. He was so happy to find it.

Well, off to get more things completed off my list.

Have a great day everyone!

That`s a shame you miss him, his shows are apparently very good, I`ve never seen him live.

Well I lasted 26 minutes before I almost threw my glass at the tv......almost!!! It was dreadful, incredibly annoying, not funny and it reminded me of every reason I cannot stand Will Ferrell. So, that dvd will go into the pile for donation!!! Won`t watch it again.

Oh so I do have a tea companion on here after all!!!! I have no clue what steeped tea is to buy in a coffee shop? Is it just they leave the tea bag in?? I`m guessing you mean Tim Horton`s, we do have a couple in the UK now but the nearest one to us is two hours away so I can`t see us going there for coffee but I know some folks like their sandwiches and burgers too, I didn`t realise they served things like that.

We bought a mini oven that sits on the counter top, it has an air fry tray, nothing like specific air fryers and it does mini roast potatoes nicely, I don`t use it for much else apart from grilled sandwiches, but overall the mini oven is quite handy when I need it.

I like the sound of your nails, yes, I can imagine patients enjoying seeing them, especially the Christmas ones, they sound nice.

It was a lovely late sleep for us again today, yep, we could get used to this, but only the dark winter months I think, as soon as the lighter mornings are back, we`ll be up and at em again!

Got a txt after we were up asking what time I was dropping the baking off and a check list to what I said I`d do, then I realised I`d missed two ginger cakes! So, rustled up two before breakfast and managed to cool them down before wrapping them up and after breakfast dropped them all off to the village hall and the other bunch over to the church hall. I was glad to see there were plenty of folks who had donated too.

Ran into one of my friends, so we`ll have a get together tomorrow afternoon and have a good old chin wag or as Pumpkin would say....a chin waggle....lol....like it!!!!

Will shop tomorrow morning and replenish my baking cabinet so I have plenty of things for cookie/shortbread baking on Sunday morning.

It`s still miserable, grey and cold with some smirry rain today, plan to stay in the rest of today and stay warm. Goodness knows when we`ll see the sun again.

Home made butternut squash soup for lunch and strangely a cold dinner tonight, we bought some smoked salmon we haven`t tried before, so want to know if it`s decent and will get some for Christmas, or not depending if we like it or not, so will do some shrimp in UK cocktail sauce to go with it, lemon slices and will make some bread to go with it.

But, Thirsty Thursday is here......tea plentiful as always with some goodies leftover from the baking while we watch a black and white Christmas movie this afternoon.

Happy Thursday 😊

What a new day, a difference there is. Nothing like your car telling you icy conditions, as I turned it on. But yay, no ice seen as everything dry. Like that rain these last two days didn’t even happen.

Now:

IMG_3725.jpeg

Yes, that cold front has arrived, and gorgeous blue skies now being seen, after a pitch black ride.

Wool pants and a warmer blouse, and still feels cool inside. Tea for me, refilled already.

Hope next week won’t be as busy, but time of year, many are not around, as a use or lose time of year. But not me. Hehe, I enjoyed my time out throughout the year. Like this past year. Trips in January, February, March, May, and August, so far.

And so, we are that day of the week, it wishes to be Friday, but a thirsty one none the less. Thus, drink up, good for all to be hydrated year round. And today, Thirsty Thursday. Throw back a drink of your choice, and salute the fact that tomorrow is that Friday. 13 December. Hehe.

IMG_3724.png

Most terrific Thirsty Thursday to all.

Woot! End of week day routine for me. :dancer:

I love our friends!! Got a txt from two of them to say we were all going out to dinner tonight, fine by me.....so we met six of them and went to our local pub for dinner which was lovely, all home made food absolutely nothing frozen so it`s always a lovely meal.

Nice bottle of wine too!!

It is so cold out there, when we came out of the pub we were all struck by how chilly it was, but pub is always toasty as they have two real fires and of course it`s warm when we come home. But, it is winter.

Christmas movie snuggled on the big sofa in the movie room tonight I think, no need for any snacks as we are full!! I think Tom is pouring us a glass of sparkly through in the kitchen....always room for wine.

We did run into a woman we know well, she asked if I was doing the Boxing Night party this year, we haven`t done that for several years now as we go to Scotland, she`s one of these that never hosts anything at her home but will turn up at everyone else`s parties and get togethers, there`s always one in every group!!

Movie and wine time I think.....:happytv:🥂

Late check in. Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Have a black tie wedding Saturday night downtown Jax. Dear friends or I'd pass.

We had the weirdest front go thru the other day.15 minutes of 50+ gusts and rain followed by a 25 degree temp drop.
Cooler waters offshore mean weather is more unstable but no tropical weather.

Have a great time at the wedding Saturday!
You will enjoy it since you will be with your friends.

and hope the cake is chocolate.. send a slice of it to me.

But if it’s a white cake I still might show up and crash the event.
I like both chocolate and vanilla cakes…vanilla is some times my favorite!

All depends on my mood of the day

I will definitely show up and be first in line for the cake…..

Two of our friends have been in Orlando a couple of weeks now and are there every year for just under a month and they are saying this is the coldest they have felt this time of year in 22 years of going. Glad we pass on December now.

Fun evening last night, but Friday again and have to go get some orders we have placed today and get some everyday groceries, visit to our butcher and will pop into a farm store too for whatever we need there. Not much as I think we`re getting takeout tomorrow night and on Sunday we`re going to Kyle`s in the afternoon and have dinner there. I know he is planning steaks for us, so will take over a couple of sides and dessert, always like to make a contribution.

But, another cold one today, it is going to feel like 36F all day, so will get home as quickly as we can this morning, have lunch then an afternoon of chatter with one of my good friends, looking forward to that.

No idea for dinner yet, Tom is out volunteering this afternoon so will have a winter warming dish ready for him coming home, I`ve had beef marinading in red wine and a load of goodies all night, about to pop it into the slow cooker with some chicken stock....yes, with beef, it works nicely together, so dinner is sorted.

Earlyish breakfast coming up as we want to get out and get as much done before it starts to get too busy, this time of year is not fun with crowds. I`ll order a home delivery for some heavier and products that don`t include any fresh fruit veg or meat, I buy all that local and know what I`m getting.

Tea first though and then go wake sleeping beauty!!!

Have a wonderful Friday :)

Happy Friday the 13th. Not an unlucky day here. Dh got paid today. I don’t know if he got overload pay, a bonus, or what, but it was much higher than expected.

I was hoping to have a nice, relaxing day today but dh reminded me that he invited some people over for dinner tonight, so I must make sure the house is presentable.

I think I am almost ready for Christmas. I’m still waiting on a couple of deliveries. I don’t know what all dh has ordered, but I keep getting notifications from USPS that packages are on their way. I’m starting to feel like this meme:

In the news of the weird - I ordered some mouse ears from Etsy. The tracking says they are supposed to be delivered today. The tracking also says they are currently in Connecticut after traveling through New Hampshire and Massachusetts. They were shipped from Georgia. Thankfully I don’t need them until March.

lol....I empathise!!! I think our delivery drivers are now on our Christmas card list!!! I was up very early this morning and as soon as I switched my phone on I had a txt saying I had three packages coming today......guess they`ll be a surprise for me too!!! I love this time of year ::yes::

Hope you had a nice time with your guests last night.

Had a lovely afternoon with one of my best friends yesterday, chatted the afternoon away and time always passes so quickly. Tom came home from volunteering and said we had been invited to go to another friends house later, so we had dinner then got ready and headed over in a taxi and had a lovely evening, they do Christmas really well too, their home is like a winter wonderland, beautiful. I think we go home around midnight.

Our fog and drizzle has finally cleared and it is beautiful this morning, so I had the bright idea to suggest an early walk as we haven`t seen a sunrise for while.....nice idea with the sunrise, bad idea for the walk as it`s freezing!!!

We were a little later than planned heading due to having a late night, but it was almost sunrise.

Now that`s a sunrise picture!!!!

i-BgMbFXk-L.jpg

It is a gorgeous morning with beautiful blue skies and yes, we have sunshine, first for a few days so a walk was a good idea, however it was just too cold to walk for long, nice though.

Stopped into one of the cafes open for breakfast, I had poached egg on avocado toast, Tom had a bacon and egg roll, lovely and they serve huge pots of tea so we were warmed up nicely.

Back home and I`m going to make the dough for the cookies I`ll bake tomorrow morning, the dough is even better if you leave it 24 hours, you can leave it up to 3 days but 24 hours is enough, they taste more toffee flavoured when you do that. But they`re the best chocolate chip cookies ever!!!

I doubt we`ll need lunch, but dinner is take out tonight, not decided what we`re having yet, but will be followed by a Christmas movie.

Another cup of tea and then I`ll get the dough mixed up, I usually make around 150 cookies and Kyle`s office colleagues end up with maybe 130 by the time Tom nibbles some.

Have a lovely Saturday :)

It's not even 8:30 and I have already had a productive morning. I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to pay bills. After that I made a dessert for our Christmas party tonight. Nothing else on the agenda today except maybe a trip to Walmart to buy more cat food.

Afternoon to early evening fun:
I'm envious. I would love to be spending Christmas (or my birthday which is next week) with the mouse.

Now that`s a sunrise picture!!!!
Stunning!!

Well, after a nice trip through New England, my package is now an hour away in Roanoke. It just might get to my house today.
