Something About Nothing............ #14

Finally....getting a chance to stop in!!!

What should have been a slower day - was a fun filled day, as both our linear accelerators went down. It was a busy morning of shuffling patients and rescheduling. Most were fine with having their appointment shuffled to later. It's not like they would want us to be blasting them with radiation without the machines functioning properly :rolleyes2 But there is always the one, that like to complain. Either you take the time we give you or we need to add another day onto the end of your calendar and you are not done treatment until the next day. It's pretty cut and dry :rolleyes1

Quiet night afer gd left. She wanted McDonalds - so grandpa gave in and pick it up for us. I am picking her up again tonight - and told her tonight Grammie is cooking and will make sure to make something she likes. She I'll probably have to toss a few chicken nuggets in the oven. She will eat the rest of the dinner I have planned. I have porkchops out. Not sure how I'll do them yet, but will be roasting some tatters and carrots with some salad.

I also colored those darn sparkles that keep reappearing on my head. I'm glad that's done now again until just before Xmas. That's a scary thought that xmas is getting that close again.

How fun!!!! My back probably wouldn't like it either. It's been many moons since I've been bowling. I know our ds's go sometimes. It's a popular thing to do here as well.

Those types of clients are always SOOOOOO NICE to deal with :rolleyes1 I have a few of them a week to deal with. The best is when they argue with me about which department/unit they have phoned- when I can't help them with a regular CT appointment or if they are a chemo patient I can't help them. That's a whole different unit.

Well, I should get a couple more things done off my list.

Have a great evening everyone!!!!!!!!!

lol....I do like the word sprinkles!! I think underneath my assorted highlights there`s not much of my original colour left at all!!!

Yes, bowling is fun, but the old back was groaning a little the next morning, it did make me feel better though when my very healthy and very slim friend said her shoulders ached like crazy the next morning too lol.....

Happy Friday and yep, it`s the weekend!!

Our only plans this weekend are going out for dinner with Kyle tomorrow night to celebrate a fabulous achievement at work, so we`re looking forward to that meal, always good to celebrate!!!!

party:

Today, some grocery shopping, probably not going to walk either as it is foggy and chilly, so probably not a good idea, so once shopping is over back home for a cuppa and the rest of the day will be a lazy one.

We have two huge steaks for dinner tonight, not my usual choice as they`re sirloin but couldn`t resist them as they are whoppers! Tom will cook them on the grill and I`ll do the sides. No idea for lunch, we`ll get something nice I`m sure.

About to have another cuppa then we`ll head out and get what we need.

Have a lovely Friday 🥰

It's Friday :cheer2: And a long weekend to boot!!!!!

It was a busy night last night with gd at our house until her dad picked her up. He worked a little later than he had planned, so she didn't go home until almost 8:00. I will say - she must love coming over to our place. She didn't want to go home when dad came to pick her up  She loves teasing and playing with Gramps. Good things they have a whole day together tomorrow!

Other than that - we paid the credit cards last night :faint: The bank account took a hit from paying off the cc from our trip lol. But we had so much fun in Orlando. The boys want to save again to go again with us. So we will see when they can swing another one. The deal was - they paid for their flights and tickets into the parks - we paid for the rest. So let them save up some $$$ again and see if they want to do it again.

Congrats to Kyle!!!! I hope your dinner out is fabulous! We love to celebrate achievements with our kids as well. You have to celebrate it all.

Youngest ds is actually doing his written part of being a first year electrician. He is doing great and top of the class. He is looking forward to being done and getting his raise once he's finished. Then older ds is writing his third year in the new year. Once he's done that - if their work projects line up he might able to write his 4th year and red seal. He has the hours to do it - they just need to find the time in-between jobs to have him away for another 8 weeks to write his 4th year to be a journeyman with his red seal!

Well, I should maybe do something productive. I have some appts I need to change as our Dr is taking a last minute vacation, and of course I've got his schedule jam packed

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Thank you, we couldn`t be more proud of Kyle!!

Sounds like your boys are doing wonderfully too, it`s so worth the effort they put in when they get the type of career they really want. I did have to Google what Red Seal was in Canada though, yes, it`ll be fantastic when they get that.

Have a great weekend Pumpkin.

Saturday and a late sleep for us again, so cosy neither of us wanted to get up.

Breakfast was lovely, Tom`s poached eggs are hard to beat and crispy bacon too and now on our third pot of tea. Looks chilly outside today, glad we don`t have to go out anywhere. There is a Christmas Fayre on in one of the garden centres near us, but neither of us feels like going so we`ll stay home.

Dinner out tonight, booked the table for 7pm, so we`ll get picked up and taken home which is nice as the restaurant is nearer us than Kyle`s place. Haven`t been there in a long time but it`s getting fabulous reviews since a new family took it over 6 months ago. So, should be excellent.

Lazy day then for us, will do some self spa treatments this afternoon and enjoy a glass of wine before we head out tonight too.

Have a lovely Saturday ☺️

Happy Saturday. Today is going to be a day of house cleaning with an afternoon break to watch a football game.

I got a call Thursday morning from a client who showed up for her 4:30 appointment Wednesday with the therapist who had the family emergency. When her therapist didn’t show the client texted her and it was discovered that the therapist had accidentally mistyped her phone number when she tried to let the client know she would not be there. This client, unlike the previous one, was very understanding and said apologies weren’t necessary. She understood that emergencies happen. I thanked her for being so understanding and offered her an appointment Monday afternoon which she happily took. What a huge difference from the other client.

It was a busy morning of shuffling patients and rescheduling.
What a nightmare. I empathize.

I also colored those darn sparkles that keep reappearing on my head.
I need to do that sometime this weekend.

Our only plans this weekend are going out for dinner with Kyle tomorrow night to celebrate a fabulous achievement at work, so we`re looking forward to that meal, always good to celebrate!!!!
Congratulations to Kyle.

Are they both electricians? I also had to look up red seal.

Hehe, I live close enough to our local high school, I can hear the band practicing.
Before we bought our current house we used to live close to B’s high school. I kind of miss hearing band practice. The best I get now is occasionally one of the neighbor kids practicing outside.

Time to start cleaning. Dh is supposed to help me today.

Countdown:

Hey all. First day I’ve felt back to my norm. Think I overdid it, decided to attack my pantry/storage room off the kitchen. Got about 3/4 done. The rest can wait. Needed to burn off some nervous energy, did the trick lol. Not really hungry this week, have been eating light. Thinking to offer chinese takeout to the mr if he flies

Carole - whooooo hoooo congrats to Kyle, he is such a superstar. Hope dinner was fun.

Biopsies after work today came back mixed bag. No melanoma but possible autoimmune induced keratosis.
Prognosis is excellent and they're throwing in a lipectomy on lump under my ribcage.
Waiting for biopsies is really difficult. Best of luck there dealing with the findings. Did you get a surgical date?
Rewatching " The Crown"
I. Keep forgetting i want to watch that series.

Don’t laugh, have never finished the 1st season of breaking bad. Have a habit of starting them and getting distracted…squirrel

We are on first ridge of mountain. School about a 1/2 mile away up slight hill the end of my street.

The other end of the campus houses the athletic fields etc. school has a large buffer, surrounded mostly by open fields. Even though it’s a good mile away, it sounds like they are so much closer…Acoustics I guess?

Have a date in Dec. Day surgery not no super invasive.

As long as you don’t have much body parts removed, sounds like a piece of cake for your surgical procedure.

Hope you get good drugs so no discomfort for the medical procedure D J .

Been channel surfing this evening and couldn’t find anything worth watching.

It’s been a dull tv night for me.

We get our evening news wrap up on tv at 11 in the evening.
Been living in the south for over 9 years now and still miss not getting the main evening time period.

When we were living Chicago. late news was much shorter
it could run to the point on boardum to watch it
just on going boring new. who wants to sit up laying fluff news……

I’m saddened to share that Carole’s Brother (in-law) unexpectedly passed away yesterday.

She wanted all to know she will be taking some time away from the boards. Prayers to her and the family as they grieve this immense loss.

She hopes to be back posting here within a few weeks.

Hi Everyone:)

I've been reading the posts and trying to catch up over the past week plus.

I'm so saddened for Carole at the loss of her brother in law, and of course to Tom too. I know it will be a difficult time for them and have them in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm not going to try to comment on all the posts because my brain doesn't remember all of those, LOL. So I will just touch on our trip.

Last year I took my daughter on a Mom/daughter trip and this year took my son on a Mom/son trip. I wanted to do this before I got too old to hustle around IOA and the Studios. I did find I have slowed down some since last year, but my son tends to move slowly too, so we did just fine. My son, Randy, is tall, thin and a slow talker and mover. It was nice to take things a little slower this time.

However, he is a thrill ride junkie, and I tend to stay far away from those. He had to ride them alone, but I did manage to ride the Mummy this time. We had an hour wait for Hagrids, but it was well worth the wait. That attraction is so much fun! We also enjoyed the Bourne Stunttacular, twice, because it is so good. I still can't figure out what is real and what is background, it is done so well and one of the best attractions at the Studios, IMO.

I took one afternoon, while Randy was napping, to go to the parks by myself. I got to go into most all the shops and take my time. I also spent a lot of time in the HP lands shopping and browsing. I finally found one top that I really wanted in Borgin and Burkes but they had every size but mine!!! Oh well. Maybe I can find it online.

We ate at Jakes which always has been good for us. We ate at the two HP land restaurants too, and also took a trip to Hard Rock Cafe and Store. We had the best meal of the trip at the Hard Rock Cafe. I had the pork sandwich which was the best pork sandwich I have ever eaten. However, it was so huge that I could not eat it all, which I surely tried to do:) The mementos on the walls were a lot of fun to see too. Randy found something for himself and his boys at the Hard Rock shop, and was a happy camper. I know he really wanted to visit there.

About the weather. It was HOT and HUmid! We had the usual daily 10 minute showers, but on our last day we got drenched! I looked like a drowned rat with my hair plastered to my head, but we bought ponchos and kept going. It probably seemed hotter to me since I come from northern Minnesota.

Our first half day we went to the studios side in the afternoon, before HHN. That was a big mistake as it was really crowded. I have never seen it that crowded, and the people kept coming in, so we left for a good rest after being up since 4 am that day. After that, the crowds were normal.

I always stay at RPR, but was a little disappointed this time. They had the most lovely bath products made by PUR before. They were in their own containers and smelled wonderful. Now they have another product which is in holders in the shower. I really miss the old products, but otherwise things were just great. Our flights to and from were on time with no problems.

We really had a wonderful time and got to catch up on a lot of things that we don't get to do on a daily basis. He and his wife are very busy working and with 2 teenage boys and one very spoiled golden lab, LOL. So it's a treat to get to have this time together.

I am still tired from the trip, but glad to finally get to touch base with all of you.

Will catch up more later.

Quick stop in! Thank goodness it's a holiday tomorrow with Remembrance / Veterans day tomorrow. So another day to maybe clean out a corner or maybe sit down and get some quilting done. I finally got my spare room back in order and turned back into my projects room. I set up my sewing machine and leave everything out - as it's a pain to put everything away once I'm done for the day. The joys of living in such a small home.

Our weather has been holding out amazingly!!! I don't want to jinx it, but I am loving it. It makes winter so much more tolerable when we don't get snow in Oct/Nov. Even though everything is brown and lifeless, it beats out -20 temps.

Sending many prayers to @schumigirl.

Are they both electricians? I also had to look up red seal.
They are. Dh is as well, but has also written other exams to make him a master electrician as well.
First day I’ve felt back to my norm
Glad to hear your starting to feel better.
We really had a wonderful time and got to catch up on a lot of things that we don't get to do on a daily basis
It sounds like you've had a great trip!

Well, I will leave a light on for anyone wandering in during the week hours of the morning.

That would be me. I don’t know why I can’t sleep. It took me forever to fall asleep, I slept for maybe an hour and then woke up about 30 minutes ago. I could understand it if I was leaving tomorrow (I always have trouble sleeping before going on a trip) but we don’t leave until Tuesday. I’m going to be so useless at work today.

Hey all, happy Veterans Day to those who have served. I couldn’t resist idea of dragging the mr out in a bit for a “free” lunch…not too many of those left in existence.

Pulled out upcoming trip to-do list, let’s just say I’ve read it. May attack it after we get back home.

Did take advantage of WM early bird BF, all for me (us) lol. grabbed 2 more AirTags & another airfryer. Not the brand I currently have, it’s served me well for years but starting to get a bit glitchy. Will hold onto it for when I need to make bigger batches of wings

Have a date in Dec. Day surgery not no super invasive.
Good to hear, both that you were able to schedule relatively soon & it’s not too slicey & dicey. My brand of dark humor referring to the dermatological surgeries I’ve had. Only one a bit of a bear/scar but on shoulder. Can live with that
before I got too old to hustle around IOA and the Studios
It’s all a state of mind. Although, that tired feeling after 8 - 10 miles for over a week straight does tend to get my body chastising me for being a fool lol
We had the best meal of the trip at the Hard Rock Cafe. I had the pork sandwich which was the best pork sandwich I have ever eaten
That’s good to hear, haven’t tried since right after covid. Hard to pin down which was worse, the service or the food. Was it of the pulled pork sort of variety? What did your son order?
So it's a treat to get to have this time together.
Priceless :)
I set up my sewing machine and leave everything out - as it's a pain to put everything away once I'm done for the day.
I really miss “my room” that one of my bounce back DSs has been occupying for almost two years. Luv him to pieces, family first, just glad to be able to be in a position to help him right now due to his ongoing major health issues.
I could understand it if I was leaving tomorrow
So, just one more day? If so, have an amazing time with your DD.

Quick stop in.

Dh and I got ourselves out of the house today. Went out for brunch , then hit one store for a few items. Contemplated about a new airfryer as the current one has died. I loved the one that died - and of course Ninja doesn't make that model anymore. So I may need to just suck it up and try the one I think will be closest to the one I had and loved.

Homemade pizza was on the menu tonight. Easy peasy dinner.

@Charade67 I hope you and B have an amazing time!!!!

@keishashadow It's great you are able to help him out. I know we would do the same for any of our kids.

Well, I should go. I think I'm going to try to get the trip report started.

I'll leave a light on again for anyone wandering in during the early morning hours!!!!

I’m awake an hour before the time I set my alarm for. I just need to pack up my CPAP and I should be ready to go. The flight leaves at 9:04, but we should be safe getting to the airport around 8:00. It’s a small plane, but the flight is full. They are offering incentives to switch to another flight. I will consider it if they make that offer for the flight back home.
